My favorite tanning salon in Glendale! All equipment is clean, new and high quality. The staff is really nice and never pressures you to buy lotions and whatnot (they will suggest but aren't pushy at all). Prices are reasonable and they have good deals on packages/monthly tanning. My favorite bed is the level 3 laydown Matrix. It's like a tanning spaceship! You get quick high quality color with no burn (as long as you know how much tanning time your skin can handle.) I always recommend this place to anyone looking for a high quality salon with a great value for price paid :) *They also offer infrared body wraps which I tried once. It felt good to sweat like that but I didn't see any actual results (again, only did it once but scientifically speaking I don't really see how it can shed inches.) I used to go to Europe Tanning in Glendale before they mysteriously closed :( After searching on Yelp for a few days, I decided to check out Kool Rays. The front desk employees were so friendly and patient with me when they described the pricing and packages, and the facility is so clean! You can definitely tell that a lot of care went into maintaining the place. They also gave me some options for lotions, let me look at the bottles, see if I liked how it smelled..etc. They kindly prorated the first month's payment since I joined in the middle of the month..overall great service! If you sign up for a package, you'll be charged a one-time set up fee. I was a little surprised, I've only ever been loyal to 2 other tanning places before and have never had to pay that before. Not a deal breaker, but just something to expect. Prices here are definitely comparable to salons in the area. The lotions are a bit overpriced...you can get them for way cheaper on Amazon. I love the salon layout. It's very private and clean. The ladies at the front desk are very helpful and very friendly. I came for a body wrap. They give you a private room with a television and make sure to check on you every 20 minutes. The wrap didn't seem to do much for me, but then again I only had one session. They have great deals on Groupon and if you check in on your Yelp app, they offer special discounts! As a somewhat experienced tanner I always get a little nervous trying out a new salon. (Some salons are filthy, the employees are rude and sometimes they even make you enroll in some overpriced monthly tanning plan) Happy to say Kool Rays was nothing like that! This one is for my wife who just started at Kool Rays a couple weeks ago. Wife says: Clean, nice and very helpful. Also lost my wedding ring there and was scared that we'd never see it again. An item like that can easily be picked up and pawned off and we would have no way of proving otherwise. Fortunately, the trustworthy staff found it and held onto it for me. I hadn't realized I lost my ring for a couple days...yikes. The fact that they found the ring and did the right thing is a true testament of the great people that work there. Kool Rays has become my permanent tanning salon. I have always loved tan skin but never realized how great of a tan I really could get until I joined and became a member here. It must be the beds they have, you literally can choose A variety of different intensities that fit your skin type. I don't like to remind myself but I tanned almost every day to keep color until now, it takes me about 1 to 2 sessions at max per week and the results are better. read more

After having a really bad experience at another body wrap place on the West Side, I was hesitant to make the investment again. When the great deal on Groupon came up I hesitated, but ultimately bought it because it's so close to where I live. The experience here could not have been more different from my experience at "the other place"! Sun Spa Tanning is immaculately clean, the beds are PRIVATE, and the staff really goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and feel taken care of. I love this place! Friendly staff and decent prices. I've done both the standing tan and body wrap. My tan was golden and took about 3 sessions to get to a good color. The wrap is really beneficial. I always feel lighter and my skin is super soft the day I get it done and the next day. It's perfect the day you're going on a trip and want to cut out some water weight. I saw some reviews on here saying it didn't do much for them but honestly it's not a miracle worker. It's not going to make you lose 5 lbs you have to workout to do that.. it helps with some water weight and overall bloating in my opinion. Great for a day you don't want to workout but still want to get in some sweating. I also love that the vibes are casual. Awesome! read more

The first time I stepped in Kool Rays I was immediately shocked by the clean and organized manner of the salon. The salon is HUGE! The employees have been nothing but informative and very helpful throughout my tanning expierence. In addition, they took their time and gave me a tour of the whole salon. After that, I had a clearer idea on which bed would be the best for me. I love that they have a wide variety of tanning beds and lotions. The tanning rates are very reasonable. Can't beat $25 dollars a month unlimited tanning!!! They give you a one time free upgrade if you sign up for the membership.With my free upgrade I tried the Matrix bed and I absolutely fell in loveee. It really did the job, after just one tan, I already saw a shade difference. Plus they give you referral points for each new customer that you refer! The wrap was a joke! After 15 mins of no heat I called the worker. She came in and supposedly tweaked something to raise the temperature and extended my time. Then I just walked out and asked for a refund. She told me she would cancel all the appointments for the rest of the day because she CLEARLY agreed it was not working. She told me to call back the next day and speak with the owner. That was a lie too, they basically ripped me off! I told her to just compensate with tanning because I was not interested in the body wrap there and the owner told her I would only receive $10 0ff my next wrap! These people must have communication skill issues on top of being crooks. I recommend you try another business establishment that will respect your money! Being a tan fanatic I came to try this salon and I loved it. Very modern and clean salon made the experience much more enjoyable. Update: May 7th the rash that I got from here ended up being ringworm. Still in pain a whole month later. A MUST READ! Mind you, it was my first time tanning. Wednesday, April 5th: I came in and was met with a sweet knowledgeable receptionist. She walked me through all the packages and told me all the options. I told her that I wanted to blend my upper arms to my lower arms because I had a wedding coming up on Saturday. She suggested doing the level 3 tanning bed and then doing a custom tan to help my arms blend in. So, I paid $60 and she told me to come in the next day which was Thursday. She explained that it's better to come in Thursday just in case I didn't like the blend I can get it fixed on Friday. I left happy and satisfied with her customer service. Thursday, April 6th: Came to my 4:30 pm appointment showered, exfoliated and shaved. As I approached the receptionist (different person from the day before) and told her I was here for my appointment. She looked on the computer and told me I didn't need an appointment. I told her that I had paid for a level 3 tanning bed and a custom tan. She proceeded with that's not what it looks like. She told me I had paid for a level 6 tanning bed and a versa tan. Immediately, I was hesitant. I told her I've never tanned before and I was going to a wedding and this can't go wrong. She told me not to worry. She gave a robe and put me in a level 6 tanning bed, I walked out and told her again I've never tanned and asked how long was I going to be there. She told me 15 minutes. I felt that was excessive and she said don't worry. I go in for 15 minutes and come out. She walks me over to the versa machine. I told her I wanted a light tan, just to blend in the color. She said trust me go with the dark you'll be extremely happy with the bronze tan. Mind you I'm pale and all I wanted was to get a custom tan for my arms. She told me the positions for the versa and how I was suppose to stand. When I got in, I noticed she had told me two of the four positions wrongly. The evening went on and I kept getting darker and darker. After the 6-8 hours I showered my face was extremely dark and my upper arms still light. I wake up the next morning in excruciating pain my back, chest and calves were practically burnt and bloody. I was so upset. Friday, April 7th: I go in the tanning salon and I told the receptionist ( different from day one and day two) what happened. And she told me she can spray my upper arms to blend. She looked at my account and said I don't know why you got a versa tan when you clearly paid for a custom one. We go into the custom tanning room and I took off my shirt and she cringed at the sight of my back. It was bloody red. Mind you, I had a wedding to go to the next day. She sprayed my arms then I went home. Waited the 6-8 hours and took a shower. Again, it didn't get my upper arms. Saturday, April 8th: Wedding day I attend the wedding with my low back cut dress with a burnt back, chest itchy and burnt and my upper arms milky white. I was uncomfortable and embarrassed. I'm sorry but this could have all been avoided. Take your business elsewhere. Still in pain. Update: April 17 I still have a tanning bed rash on my chest. Still extremely painful. I thought I would be contacted by them but I guess they don't care about customer service. read more

First off, I would like to say that I am what one would call a perfectionist. I'm honestly not one to tan, however I had to get a spray tan once for a pageant long ago and i swore to myself that I would never get one again for it looked splotchy and too dark. HOWEVER, due to another event, a spray tan was necessary and I must say that Kali at Kool Rays did my spray tan PERFECTLY! She was not only knowledgeable, but she was so patient and catered to all my requests! This place is fantastic! I got a deal on Groupon for the infrared body wrap and really didn't know what to expect. The second I opened the door I was smiling. This place is very clean and well kept. The receptionist was very nice, knowledgeable and friendly (and didn't try to sell you on additional products or services). As for the body wrap. WOW! It's really hot and when my 50 minutes was up, my clothes were soaked. It literally looked as if i had just jumped in the pool so definitely bring a change of clothes and drink lots and lots of water before and after (I wanted some during the session but your arms are wrapped as well)....I felt so light and relaxed afterwards. That morning (before the wrap) I weighed 128 lbs. The morning after, I was 125 lbs. I have 4 more sessions and can't wait for my next one! read more

Kool Rays Sun Spa Tanning Salon in Glendale is the best tanning salon I have ever been to. The staff are extremely knowledgeable as well as friendly and made my experience so easy and stress-free. Not to mention, the salon is always spotless and smelling wonderful. Their decor gives it such a relaxing ambiance and is extremely inviting. I come in at least 2-3 times a week to take advantage of their amazing weight-loss/ detox/ pain management Infrared Body Wraps and absolutely love it! This amazing technology penetrates the skin twice as deep as a regular workout so as your core temperature is rising, your body is trying to cool itself down. The way that the nice front desk lady had explained it to me was that basically Energy= Calories. After each 50 minute body wrap session, I also like to do the Red Light therapy because it is 12 minutes of sheer relaxation as it increase my production of collagen, helps with acne, fine lines, scars, and improves my skin tone/ pore size. This technology was discovered by NASA and unlike regular tanning, doesn't use any UVA UVB rays to neither tan nor burn me. Lastly, whenever I am preparing for an event or vacation,their tanning beds are the best ones to get the job done! They have top-of-the-line equipment including the Matrix which, according to the tanning specialist, has a less than 1% burning factor, a 1-2 times a week maintenance, and an awesome A/C cooling system to make my whole experience the most comfortable and relaxing. Plus, if I need a quick fix of color, the Versa Spa or (my favorite) the Custom Airbrush is always a good choice and available. I, personally, love the custom airbrush because I'm able to choose exactly how I want my tan to look and where I want more or less color, depending, but if for whatever reason that isn't available, the Vera Spa Spray tan works equally as good and I will ALWAYS walk away with a glowing golden bronze color, NEVER orange. All-in-all, Kool Rays Tanning is the place to be if you want to look your very, most golden brown best! This place is 5 star amazing and I will continue to come here for years. I really enjoy this place! It's very clean and there is free parking. I get body wraps about once a week. It makes me sweat, so I am detoxing, burning calories, and releasing stress all while watching Netflix. This makes me feel super relaxed after, almost as it I just did yoga. I get the body wraps here fairly regularly now. First had the groupon and then decided to continue with them. I'm not really sure if/how it works in terms of burning calories or losing weight necessarily since I also cut down on calories and work out, but I lost 8 pounds in 2 weeks. The main reason I go back for more is the improvement I see in my skin (just feels softer and seems more hydrated) and how great my muscles and any body aches feel after the wrap. It's also nice to be "forced" to just relax and watch a little Netflix without distractions! Aside from all of the above, the staff is very sweet and accommodating. They check in just enough to make sure I'm comfortable. I haven't used the other services here, but I'm sure they're just as good! Place is very clean, too, which is always a plus.
