Just recently tried this brand new restaurant in Quincy. Very convenient as it's about a five minute walk from the Quincy Center T-stop. As far as I can tell, its the only Korean place for miles and you'd have to go into downtown Boston to find another. I had only tried Korean a time or two before this and so I was really looking forward to its opening. The restaurant is a tiny little "hole in the wall" on the main drag but has a great atmosphere. Nice decor, comfortable seating, very nice servers. The owner and cook appear to be one in the same, a lovely woman who will probably come out and greet you at your table. If you like small-time really independent restaurants, then this could be your place. I got the Korean Bulgoki and it was fantastic. As the previous poster said, everything you order comes with something like ten side dishes, ranging from kimchi to some sort of yummy, chewy, soy bean plate. The prices look a little steep at first glance, but the portions are huge and with all the sides you'll definitely have leftovers to bring home. If you go with a friend, get one entree to share! I was flipping through the Sunday Boston Globe news and something caught the edge of my eye. My first impression was "I been here!!!" I decided to make another adventure to Korean Grille because the Sunday Boston Globe talked about how this was a hidden gem of quincy, and how they have mysterious sushi chef "jacki" that can make sushi worth dying for. The wonder of a korean + japanese restaurant plus the "ful" ness of my tummy doesn't equal wonderful, but marvelous! I cant begin to describe how delicious my orders were this time... Lets see First, Yook Hue, my official tradition is to order one when i come here. Generous portion of protein(beef) and extremely delicious. What more can you ask for? Second, I decided to order something average to start off my meal and got a Spicy tuna roll. However, this roll was everything but ordinary. The spicy tuna just tasted delicious that words cant begin to describe the sensation in my mouth. MUST GET IF YOU COME HERE. Third, ever seen a pancake but mixed with seafood and japanese/korean style!? Neither have i. Well, this is my first time and wow!! The "pancake" was more like a medium sized pizza. Other than having nice looks, the taste of the crispy pancake was an awesome appetizer to top off with the spicy tuna. I swear the two things were made for each other. Fourth, i decided to try something out of the ordinary in the menu. So i decided to give Hwe Mu Chim a try. Similar to having sashimi of different types of fishes. Well i'm not sure about other people, but it was really fresh when i had mine and it was quite filling. Fifth, I was about to be full so i decided to order one last roll to end my adventure this time. Due to the influence of the sushi chef jacky or "jacki" according to the Boston Globe news paper, i decided to order the volcano again. My my my, i'll never get sick of this order. The combination of the mouth watering sauce with the ingredients almost made me order another one to take out. However, i was able to hold back my desires, luckily. Overall i dont know why other people complain about the service so much when the delicious food definitely would make up for it. Also, the service isnt really that bad if you come here a few more times. At least its better than the service you find at some chinese restaurants near by. I wouldve given this restraunt half star if i could. Ive given them too many chances. Ive been here quiet few times coz this is the only korean restraunt near to me. Everytime i go there with friends or family the waitress is always very unpleasing. I One of them is nicer tho who is usually in the kitchen. so first of all order came late, second my sister was just asking if we get sides too, the waitress rudely answered i have only one hand ok?(she does have two hands idk why she said one lol) we didnot say anything, we just looked at each other in surprise. I had ordered iced water with lemon which never came. At last for tips we didnt even wanna put anything but we did put $5 for tips, when we were walking out, i saw her making faces to the other girl showing the tip. I mean if the service was good and the waitress was well beahved, we would've given her enough but she didnt even deserve any tips. Im just wasting my time writing this review hoping the owner or that waitress will see this review and try to improve. After this i dont even think il ever go to this restraunt again. This restaurant is my go to place for 100% authentic Korean food. My mother is Korean and trust me when I say that the authentic Korean flavor definitely exist here. Usually when I go to a restaurant I have something on the menu which is what I typically order, but not here. Everything I have tried on this menu was absolutely scrumptious, from the Bul Gogi to the Bibimbop, to the delicious marinated steak, I never know what to choose! Sometimes it can get very busy but you must take into consideration that only one or two people are working there, and I must commend those two lovely ladies for the hard work they have to go through everyday. I MUST recommend this restaurant to all people who have not yet ravaged their own taste buds with crap food. read more

I've been here before when it first opened and I was not impressed. You always have to try something more than once to form an opinion! I just went back this weekend and what an improvement! The food is so good now. Well...I'd say the sushi is just OK but you can tell the fish is very fresh. They've got really good side dishes. Having grown up in Korea for seventeen years, Korean food is my "comfort food." I'm thrilled to have found this little restaurant on the South Shore. The taste of this food is as close to a genuine Korean meal as I have had. I grew up in the southern portion of Korea, Jeonju. This restaurant has the same southern Korean flare as the chef is from Pusan. I could eat here once a week and try everything on the menu. It's not fancy, but it is genuinely authentic. The food has been very good every time I've come here. The hot Bibimbap is my favorite and I haven't found it better anywhere else. The sushi is decent too, I got a rainbow roll and was satisfied. The server (a young woman who seems to always be there) was very nice to my group who had never had Korean food the first time we came here, and she made great suggestions and politely explained what she was bringing us and how to eat it. Truly the BEST in Boston area. I went to so many others in Cambridge, Boston near MGH, etc and all their soups were watery... poor quality of beef. I don't expect organic, grass fed but ... It was around 3PM and it didn't take long. Ban chan (side dishes) especially bean sprouts..wow.. the best ever. She really knows how to cook. It's southern style cooking which is a bit more spicy & salty. I wanted a grilled fish which she didn't have but she told me if I called her in advance, she can prepare it. She even knew the difference between the fish caught here, in Korea, atlantic, pacific,, I am in Beacon Hill and it's a bit of hassle but I go there because the health food store (which is near this restaurant) is cheaper than Cambridge Naturals and better quality than Whole Foods. read more

This place has been open for a good half of a year and I only got around to try it today when I worked from home. They only accept credit card for purchase over $15, so I had to over order. There was only 1 customer inside when I arrived. The guy manning the sushi bar was nice enough to greet me, but the hostess/owner seemed cold. To be on the safe side in case I want to come back again, I initially ordered the Bibimbap but was talked into by the hostess to change it into a dolsot bibimbap (hot stone pot rice). I also ordered a Korean pancake (vegetable) to make it over $15. The banchan was limited as reviewed by others, but I didn't care (never a huge fan anyway). All in all, the pancake was very decent, reminded me of the ones I had in Korean town in Beijing years ago. The bibimbap, you can't go wrong with it anyway, but I won't say it's outstanding either. I would say I'd go back again, definitely for the pancake. Background music can be turned down a little. read more

I have always found the food to be excellent. I' ve never notice delay in serving the food to complain. I have seen some customers who have been rude or not paid there bill. The restaurant is really mom and daughter shop, if you ask they will always try to please the customer. I highly recommend the restaurant. I read one of the recent review which was very negative. I happen to like this place. Granted, the service is slow and the owner plays both waitstaff and cook but the food overall is good in my opinion. I especially like their spicy tuna maki. The owner's personality comes off a bit misunderstood. I had that feeling the first time I tried the place myself therefore, an open mind prior to entering should be considered. She is actually really sweet.. in a funny, awkward kind-of-way.. Everytime I go, I try not to set my expectations too high simply because of the obvious- both visually and timely. My family and I chose this restaurant because we drove 19 hours and only had American food. Unfortunately, the service was garbage. We ordered cold water and after 20 minutes the water was not served. Also, our salmon and galbitang was not cooked fully. The waitress took the salmon and reheated the same piece. Is this not a health code violation? The galbitang WAS ALSO under cooked. We asked the waitress to reheat it and make it to go and she argued about reheating. WOULD NOT COME AGAIN. read more

I wouldn't suggest coming here. Save your cravings for better Korean food in Boston. We came here on a Thurs night (regretfully a large group) and the owner was the waitress and cook so food took forever. Food is super overpriced. For example, frozen steamed shumai itty small pieces were $8. The beef fried gyozas were $9 and there were 6 small pieces. The only appetizer that was OK were the chicken wings. Owner kept pushing their specials (marinated steak for $25) even though none of us felt like steak. One of us ordered the pork chop special from the same menu and it costs the same as the steak $25. Bulgogi's were too much on the sweet side, definitely had better in Boston. The beef ji gae (tofu soup) was the only dish that was OK but itty pieces of beef. Rice comes in smaller than average bowls compared to asian restaurants. Only 4 different types of ban chan. Asked her for more additional kimchi (kimchi wasn't spicey at all) and the other 3 and she refills one ban chan at a time so I had to ask several times for each item. There was a rubber band found at the bottom of one of the soups and she wasn't apologetic, just said it's probably from the scallions. We asked her to remove it off the bill and she said no and gave us a 10% coupon for next time instead. We asked if we can use it for our bill this time and she said no. She added an automatic gratuity of 20% which was ridiculous. Don't bring young kids here, it was stifling hot. No air conditioner. Thankfully none of us got sick from the food since it was so hot in the whole restaurant including the kitchen. read more

Came here because it was close by. We were sat immediately since it was pretty quiet and there was only one other group in the restaurant. I tried to order something on the menu but they said they ran out of tofu so they couldn't make it, so I complied and ordered another entree even though I wasn't entirely in the mood for it. The food was okay, not the best but definitely not the worst. My boyfriend's dish came first, and then I waited about another 30 minutes for my dish to come out since they only have two people working and one person makes the food the entire time - dish by dish. I felt bad having my boyfriend eat alone, so I let him eat and watched him do it, and 30 minutes later he watched me eat mine. Trying to get the check was near impossible since they're in the kitchen trying to fulfill all the orders. My boyfriend had to physically get up and go to the kitchen to ask for the check.
