My fiancé spent 2 weeks in India this year and he felt the food at Korma Sutra was the closest to the real thing that he has had in the states. The only criticism I have is that it was a little loud. I've been eating here for years for many reasons. I can add nothing half as good or half as funny as many of the 5-star reviews already here. So all I can say is, read the 5-star reviews and skip the others because they were either aberrant events or written by aberrant customers. The cooks are artists, the help is excellent, getting a seat during lunch hour can be hell but well worth the wait, and the owner/manager is unique and special. Just think of the lunch buffet as "Lunch Theater" with amazingly good food including the endless fresh hot naan, chia, lassi, and "real" ice cream. Okay, the food was actually good, our problem was the service. Our waiter, (we got the impression he was a owner or at least manager) kept bringing us over little samples if food and drinks we didn't order. They were just little tiny sample sized and we figured they just give samples in hopes customers would like it and then order it or they came with the entree. When we got our bill it was just hand written cursive writing on a note pad that was un readable and it was for about $12-14 more than our bill should have been. We were super confused, apparently they charge you for all those little tastes they bring over?? Our lunch ended up being over $50 for 2 entrees. I dont mind paying for good food but I feel like they are sneaky here and jack up your bill with stuff you didnt order. Since then when Ive told people about my experience I've had two people tell me the same experience. Its a shame because the food was actually good but bc of the dishonesty we wont be back. Love this place! First thing is that the owner is over the top nice. The motto of the place is 'happy' and you'll hear it shouted often and you can't help but smile. He gives out free food like you are having dinner at his own home. And the food is amazing. I recommend the mushroom kadai, the kulfi (ice cream). But whatever you do always say no to the 'power' paratha, as he calls it. It has a lethal pepper paste in it that will render you immobile! read more

This place is a little cramped and the food is okay. You have limited choices in buffet. But the people there are great. Even though they dont know proper English they make you feel important. The owner or whatever he is made sure that everybody is okay, asked how the food was and if we wanted anything else, several times. What a nice discovery. I have never tried Indian food until my sister told us about this place. We had a delightful dinner sharing 4 different dishes. My favorite was the Butter Chicken which was rich and delicious. Luckily my sister warned me to not finish my entree and get it to go because you receive more that just what you ordered. The meal was served with warm bread, I think they called it Naan. Following dinner was an absolutely delicious mango drink. Next they brought us a small serving of Ice Cream, followed by a sweet rice dish. They bring water around to wash your hands and finish it off with a small cup of chi tea. The wait staff were attentive and charming and for dinner the price was very reasonable. This is one place we will definitely visit again! read more

It was such an experience eating here, very trippy how the main server kept plying us with food and asking if we were happy. I felt like I was in the middle of a giant Indian party or something. Don't let the wait and small space fool you! We almost left because of the wait but I'm glad we didn't! If you've read my other reviews, you'd know that we are HUGE foodies... We crave flavorful food and we are picky. The food here is every bit as good as "Seva" Indian restaurant in Liberty (Please see my other reviews)... But the drinks and service is outstanding! We had the buffet and it was excellent, we will be coming back to try the menu... It has to be even better. The place is small, and the decor is nothing special, but the staff is what's so memorable. The owner is funny and very generous with their food. He brought samples and they almost insist on you to try everything, and they all have a great sense of humor... And that's priceless to us! The food was very fragrant and all of the intense and complex flavors were there... The salt, sweet, sour was all there we didn't have to "look" for it. The Mango drink was intense! And the Chai tea blows away any place else. We do love Seva, but Korma is much closer to us so we save a few dollars in gas! Give this place a try and you will not regret it! read more

Kind of a joke to try and eat here for lunch. Been 3 times and wasn't able to eat there not even once. Good food doesn't matter if you can't get to it. Other location is far more efficiently operated. If you are told the wait is short and are given finger foods that means your wait will be just as long as your lunch break. I've been to many Indian restaurants, and, apart from a little hole in the wall place in Cincinnati, this is my fav. THE BEST! Love the food and the owner is amazing. You will feel welcome as soon as you enter and the feast begins when you walk in. My 10 year old son loves to go eat here and the owner brings him all kinds of food to try. Food is fantastic coconut soup, lamb, chicken, naan, samosa, all wonderful! It's almost too good! Every time I go there I eat too much so I have to limit myself. The lunch buffet is incredible. I have tried a lot of Indian restaurants. This is far and away my favorite anywhere. The service is great despite how busy it gets! It's popular so get there early for lunch or you will be waiting for a table. I have tried about everything they have to offer I haven't had anything that I thought was not well prepared. The first time I tried Korma Sutra I hurried in for a quick bite one day for lunch. As I was getting up the person I assume to be the manager/owner wanted to make sure I got my money's worth and voluntarily gave me my chi tea drink to go and extra bread to take with me. It was surely good. I now have been there many times and have taken my time and savored every bite. The owner/manager person seems genuinely nice and helpful as are all the others making for an enjoyable dining experience. I have seen him interacting with the patrons and giving balloons and ice cream to the kids with a smile. One reviewer was offended he was persuaded to leave. Out of respect for those standing and waiting it would not have offended me. After all, buying a meal doesn't mean you rented the table for the rest of the day. Please try to be considerate of those on a lunch break waiting for a table in any busy place. The restaurant is only in a strip center so it's not the most lavish restaurant I have been in. The five stars I give it are for is for their exceptional food and service. I don't know how it could be any better! Keep up the good work Korma Sutra. Please don't change a thing! read more

Really great. We were literally doted over. Free mango lassi, yummy food. It's a small place and a little hard to find, but well worth the effort. I've never felt compelled to write a review before for a restaurant, but the experience was so nice that I had to. Indian food can sometimes distress my innards, if you know what I mean, but that did not happen at all after eating there. They even brought out some very mildly spiced food for the kids to eat, although truth be told they are perfectly used to Indian food :-). read more

Thanks for deleting my last review but unfortunately i'll keep on posting until you try to improve india's tarnished image. I don't have a habit of posting publicly but this experience dragged me to this public forum. I am not trying to offend anyone just writing down about my experience. I went to this restaurant for the first time and was shocked to see how Indians are ill-treated as compare to any other American folks who were given the best treatment. Servers were rude and especially the so called "eccentric owner" was extremely rude with indian clients. I had a cough & cold and had strong craving for chicken biryani so thought of trying kormasutra for the first time. I wanted mildly spicy biryani because of my cough in return the owner yelled at me for ordering something different which everybody does. I was served cold pakoras in appetizers by rude servers and orders those were taken after me were served first. People on the other tables (all whites) were given special treatment like pouring food in their plates, getting their hands washed at the end of there dinner, being polite, humorous and concerned about them whereas I was unattended for a longtime. Finally i was served after a long wait and It was served in a manner as if I am some criminal having my jail time. To make the matter worse the food that was served wasn't really authentic chicken biryani. It was some rice with chicken curry in a different bowl. Seriously? Chicken curry in different bowl! After I was done eating I asked the owner for go-box and he again yelled at me again. I was pissed this time and prepared myself for a counter back. By the mean time couple more Indian guys entered the restaurant and were treated in similar manner as I was. I was waiting onto someone to bring me the bowl for hand wash instead I got weird looks from the owner and finally one of lady server brought the bowl. Again I waited for the bill to come on my table instead me going over to the counter. I wanted to see how worse this can get. The owner brought the bill at the table after a long wait and again yelled at me. This time i couldn't hold myself and told him you're not suppose to treat people like this. He replied back saying I came and settled in USA before you so don't tell me how to treat people. Now what the fuck does that mean? Paaji tusi wade asshole ho!! I went through entire review list and hardly found any review written by Indian clients. All of them are written by proudly white clients as they're treated awesomely! My girlfriends and I went here for dinner today, Sunday and had to put up with the waiter/manager's disrespectful behavior and a cockroach on our bread. NEVER going back. I saw all the great reviews and decided we should try this place since I was the planner. Only 2 tables were taken when we got there and the waiter/manager seemed friendly at first. After sitting down for about 10 minutes or so, we got served 'a piece' each of the plain bread with our drinks. It was as if we did not exist, even though we were 6 at our table, because no one paid attention to us after that. We waited to get our orders taken and even drew the staff's attention, but no response. The place started to get crowded and after sitting patiently for more than 30 minutes, one of my friends went to the waiter/manager to let him know we've been waiting to order. He came after another 10 minutes and told us to be patient as he had many customers. We saw him taking the orders of other customers who came after us. He finally took our order and started to literally scream at us about waiting as he was doing his best to attend to everyone. My friend gently told him to speak to us as adults and stop yelling at us in such disrespectful manner. We wanted to leave, but decided to just stay and give it a shot. He later came back with more plain bread, and as I lifted up the basket, I saw a cockroach running from the basket. He came over and we showed him the cockroach which was still having a field day on our table, but he just shook the cloth and said it probably fell from the ceiling. Yuck! As if I care, as long as it is in your restaurant. He wasn't even apologetic, but kept on telling us how he's trying to be nice to us and attend to us and we're making a fuss over nothing. Now I regret not screaming "COCKROACH" so everyone could hear. We decided to leave and told him to cancel our orders, and we paid $18.00 for the bread we didn't eat and the water. He got into an argument with me and didn't even care. Zero % customer service, and a very rude attitude, plus cockroach. Definitely NEVER returning. My boyfriend and I were looking for a great Indian Restaurant last night, and since our favorite was closed, we were excited to try Korma Sutra. From the moment we came to the door until the moment we physically left, we were assaulted with rudeness, neglect, and perhaps the worst customer service I have seen since being in a Wal-Mart. My point is this: not only did we wait outside for twenty minutes to put our name in-the owner/host was on the phone-, the owner shoved food at us and others as we patiently waited (off a plate that everyone was touching). He yelled at us the whole time "No hungry-happy eating!" We did not want the food nor to be yelled at. When I asked for chutney, I was told basically "no" and instead other food I did not ask for was shoved onto our table. We were told "happy eating, Workday, Workday!" constantly. We had NO idea what we were being charged for either. The food was mediocre. The Saag Paneer was good; the dish my boyfriend ordered was quite subpar. The food was shoved onto our plates as if we were automatically sharing-thankfully we were- and we were given balloons and pens when we left and yelled at-"happy! No being mad about latenes!!" We will not be returning- it was a horrific experience. I have never been so disgusted at any restaurant in the last twenty years. read more

Went to Korma Sutra yesterday. As we walked in the host/owner was over bearing forcing me to smile and staring at me in anticipation of a smile. We ordered chicken tikka masala, a chicken biriyani and a naan, The tikka masala was good and the naan was excellent, probably the best in town. Biriyani was another story. They brought me a plate full of orange looking stick rice with chunks of chicken. A concoction similar to tomato rice or tomato baath. The biriyani had no taste or flavor. Obviously they don't know what a biriyani is or they don't care. At $15 per plate, I anticipated something decent. As usual they provided the freebies including extra mango lassi, pakora on a stick, kulfi and tea which was not why I was there. I had similar experiences at other establishments where they serve some mutant form of dishes to pass off as authentic dishes. Disappointed. read more
