I had eaten here with a friend a couple of years ago and although I somewhat liked it, they didn't mark the sauces as too hot, medium or mild, so I was not really happy about that. I came back with the same friend and the place was completely different. Gone was the buffet(my waistline thanks you) and I was blown away with the new set up. Very hip, mid century modern, definitely good for a date. Nothing like an Indian restaurant that actually has ambience! The servers were both very good and they explained everything nicely.The portions are large, even at lunchtime, so don't over order like we did, although I love a little takeout for the next day. Very disappointing experience. I am a vegetarian, and they served chicken in my paneer dish. This is completely unacceptable and shows a serious lack of attention to customers' dietary preferences. What made the situation even worse was the way it was handled. There was no proper apology or concern from the staff. We were charged for food that was never delivered, and despite bringing the issues to their attention, nothing was resolved. Several items listed at the bottom of the receipt were never brought to our table, yet we were still charged. We ended up paying around $270 and left in the middle of the meal because the experience was so frustrating. Poor service, inaccurate billing, and a complete lack of professionalism. The decor and ambiance here really impressed me. Very modern and stylish, a great fit for an upscale Indian spot. The menu had a good range of options, though I do wish there were more small plates or shareable items. I like trying a variety of dishes, and the portions here are big, so it's harder to sample without committing to a full entrée. Food itself was decent. Nothing mind-blowing, but solid. The highlight of the meal was actually the berry mojito, which was refreshing and well balanced. My first visit to Aahaa was for a Yelp Elite Experience. I and my party enjoyed dining here. I and my wife had planned to return to try other menu items. On this visit, our experience was much the same as the first. The food was delicious though not as spicy as other restaurants serving the same items. Service, while friendly, was a bit tentative. One of the staff filled my wife's water without being asked, while our server, when asked, took a bit of time to get back to us. Another of the staff wanted to refill my water from her pitcher. Grabbed lunch to go for my office while visiting for work and it was amazing! Butter chicken, garlic naan, Mali Kofta, and of course, a mango lassie! Everything was so tasty and flavorful and perfect I knew the second I stepped out of the car and smelled the beautiful grilled spices in the air. This was going to be a fantastic lunch. Had the chance to grab a fantastic meal in one of Kansas City's newest Indian restaurants. (actually located in OPKS) As their website says it is a modern dining experience in a pretty open floor plan of booths and outdoor seating. The ambiance and the aroma are an introduction to the type of service and meal to prepare for. The music could be more complimentary to Indian heritage. After being seated and possibly ordering, you'll first enjoy a complimentary chikoo shake. It was creamy and delicious. From the menu of an array of dishes, we ordered: Masala Crab Cakes (mild spice level), Chicken tikka masala (medium spice level) and Lamb vindaloo (mild spice level), garlic naan & butter naan (each order 4 nice slices), 2 coconut rose coolers and Chai Spiced cheesecake. If you're new to the level of heat Indian food can have I'd definitely recommend mild spice level. While we waited for our food which wasn't long we were offered water 3 different times: tap, sparkling or bottled. I took it as a sign 3rd time around. The crab cakes had good flavor, however there's a chalky aftertaste. The aoili provided was good atop of it though. Both main entrees were spiced and seasoned with Indian culinary flavor. The rice and meat were perfectly cooked so it really does just melt in your mouth! I'm not a fan of coconut but I love rose water and the combination is so refreshing. The presentation with petals in the drink and coconut shavings around the rim, it was almost too pretty to drink. Overall our the service and food were above par. They were not only extremely attentive but also friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to give great descriptions on what kind of flavors were in each dish and how it was prepared. Indian food is my all time favorite cuisine so when I saw a place on the Restaurant Week 2025 list that I hadnt yet tried, we had to go! Very modern vibes in a large space, no reservation needed during the week. The staff was plentiful and checked on us the entire meal. We craved a little more spice in the dishes and didn't have leftovers to bring home but we did have a lovely meal at Aahaa. Chicken 65 was generous and the garlic Naan was classic. We came to Aahaa Restaurant on Saturday for dinner and had a very disappointing experience. I've been here before a few years ago when it was a different Indian restaurant and didn't have a great experience back then either. But since it was recently renovated, I thought it might be under new ownership, so we decided to give it another try. I made a reservation for our group of 7 several days in advance. When we arrived, the hostess told us they were too busy and we'd still have to wait about 25 minutes for a table. I honestly don't understand the point of making a reservation if you still end up waiting. They were clearly very busy, so we decided to sit outside at one of the patio tables while we waited for our indoor table to be ready. No one came by to even offer water or drinks for at least 15-20 minutes. We had to follow up three times to see if our table inside was ready. My husband ordered an old fashioned, and it took over 20 minutes to arrive. He eventually walked over to the bar himself and saw the drink just sitting there, so he grabbed it and brought it back to our table. Our server was nice and tried her best, but it was obvious that the staff was extremely overwhelmed. We ordered the Chicken 65 appetizer, two Chicken Tikka Masalas with different spice levels, Chicken Biryani, and three orders of naan so we could share everything family style. The menu says these are large plates, but when the food came out, the portions were shockingly small. Each tikka masala had only about 3-4 tiny cubes of chicken in it, which was extremely disappointing, especially at $22 per entree. We called our server over to ask if our orders were made correctly because the portions seemed so small. She explained that the owner decided to reduce the meat portions in the entrees, which is honestly unacceptable at that price point. We asked to speak to a manager, and someone named Luann came over. She was extremely rude and unprofessional. When we asked why the portions were reduced, she just shrugged and said, "That's just how it is," with no apology or explanation. Her attitude was terrible, and she looked completely disheveled and frazzled, which didn't help the situation at all. She could definitely benefit from training in management and customer service. Another note - drinks are non-refillable, and sodas come in cans for $3 each, which adds up quickly for a group. The food itself did taste good, but the portions were so tiny that it wasn't worth it. Even with three orders of naan, each order was so small that each person basically got just one piece. Overall, we were extremely disappointed with our visit. None of us in our group of seven plan to return. We always go to Spice and Rice down the street, and we will continue to go there instead. Their portions are huge with plenty to take home, the service is always great, and the owner is wonderful. Aahaa could really take a lesson from them on how to run a restaurant and treat their customers. Also, just a heads up - tip in cash if you go. We were told that management takes 50% of tips paid by credit or debit, which is absolutely terrible for the servers. read more

Got takeout for my birthday. Lamb shank, garlic naan, Manchurian cauliflower bites, Amritstari fish fry, shrimp 65 and the Apollo chicken. Put it in at 12:30 to be picked up at 5:30. Got a notice on my phone that it was ready at 5:08. If you want it at 5:30 the have it ready at 5:30. Everything was cold and mushy. The crispy dishes were mush. If you have crispy things that need to stay crispy, then do like Chinese restaurants do and poke holes so the steam escapes. Put the shrimp, fish and cauliflower in the oven to try to crisp and heat up but only the shrimp did. Everything else completely mushy. Lamb shank and naan cold and needed to be heated up. Lamb and shrimp were the highlights. I'm sure the fish would have been better if crispy. Apollo chicken was dry and would never get again. So disappointed. read more

The samosas are deeeelicious! Really enjoyed my spicy dosa (it was 2 feet long, not even the giant 4 foot one they offer!) and my husband's mango curry chicken was SCRUMPTIOUS. We each had a cocktail- his old fashioned was yummy, and was served smoking. Mine was a martini with pistachio and saffron- I was excited for it, but it had a bitter aftertaste that I didn't care for. This was my second time going to Aahaa because I loved the first time. To my disappointment, much of the menu items had been removed, including a lot of the unique dishes that most Indian restaurants in KC do not offer. The smaller menu still has some of the unique foods of the original menu, and fortunately they were still delicious. I think they accidentally gave me a mild goat Chettinadu when I ordered a medium, so it was a bit under seasoned for my taste but still enjoyable. Fortunately, the paneer lollipops and Amirtsari fish fry were both well seasoned and had a kick to them. The food came out fairly quickly despite being in a large group. Prices are a bit high, but it's worth it to go every once in a while to get some harder to find Southern Indian foods. read more

To start with the positive, the food was great! The portion size was good and the flavors were nice, and they had varying levels of spice. However, the service was crazy slow. A waiter didn't come over until 30 minutes after we got there (and someone had to go up to the host to get a server), and then after we ordered it took another hour for our food to get there. The waiter didn't know what they were giving us so it was just confusing because they kept saying the wrong names of the dishes. Even in the waiting time, the server didn't come check on us all that much. It was also a little pricey (my regular dish was $22) but it wasn't anything crazy. You can often tell the authenticity of an ethnic restaurant by the demographic of the patronage - and this place is darn authentic and tasty. We have been living in Johnson County for last 40 years and we frequent Rajdhani almost every other day for dinner. This is first time we went to this place and was very bad experience. The tandoori chicken consist of five drumsticks and not tandoori chicken but only drumsticks. The drumsticks were not cooked fully and it still had blood. We asked for chutney and they wanted $2 each extra and salad they charged $6 but it is no listed on menu. So sad we Will never go back. Service was mediocre. Sorry to say Rajdhani and Many other places are much better. They take care of clients and no charge of chutney. read more

Strangely, the server told us it wouldn't pair well with the appetizer and kind of discouraged it even though we know we love the combo. We had to ask five times before the rice finally came out, which just felt unnecessary. If a guest wants rice, why not just bring it? Also, the seating was uncomfortable, which made it hard to settle in and enjoy the meal. That said, between the dosa and the paneer, we were both completely full by the end.
