Poor business ethics, no customer orientation, owner/manager greatly lacks in professionalism We had 4 rooms cleaned wall to wall, a runner, a large rug and an upholstered chair. The cleaning was good and the cleaners were polite; however... 1) All 4 rooms were measured incorrectly. 2) The person who measured did not know how to calculate sf correctly. 3) My $1200 chair that I had cleaned was damaged exposing upholstery staples on both sides of the chair. Knowing this is a small business I wasn't too harsh in my judgment and would not have left a review at all if it weren't for the way this was handled. Here's where Koshgarian earns their 1 star with authority I called the company and spoke with Yolanda to let her know about the measurements, The reimbursement I was seeking was $25 which I asked to have applied to another service. I was put on hold so she could schedule someone to come out and remeasure the rooms. I can now allocate 1.5 hours for a remeasure or absorb the overcharge. Since they had to come look at the chair anyway I agreed to have them remeasure. The same person, David, comes back the next day and over measures again (though his measurements are not consistent with his first measurements.) My husband and I watched and noticed he measures in the middle of the room (rather than near a wall) and "eyeballs" the end of a cut in the wall rather than precisely measuring against the wall. Sometimes he would be right up against a piece of furniture and write a number that was off by inches. My husband and I would measure with him right there and come out with a measurement different than his. He was getting flustered which made me consider that this was perhaps not so accidental and worse, maybe an overcharging practice. David's justification for being okay with random off measurements is "they clean under the bed a little". I then realize that he is calculating the measurements wrongly (assuming 10 inches in a foot rather than 12.) My frustration turned to sympathy at that point because he seemed genuinely embarrassed that he has been miscalculating sf for "15 years". I told him I didn't want to let his manager know that because it was an honest mistake. So this man takes my calculations back to Koshgarian to have them reviewed. I receive a call later that day from Yolanda saying the manager reviewed my numbers and will send a check. I was happy we had resolution. I received my check today albeit $5 short, but this was just a principle to me for carelessly wasting my time over a small reimbursement. In the memo of the check is written "CRAZY LADY". I called to talk to the manager (who is out of town) and was told by Yolanda that she never saw the check as this was sent directly from the Owner/Manager. Dear Mr. Koshgarian - I have a soft spot for small business and have always chosen to be a supporter when the option is available to me. Your lack of business ethics, customer empathy and professionalism are a disservice to small businesses everywhere. While I was hoping to love your company and recommend you to everyone I know, I now hope that all potential customers read this and choose to look elsewhere for cleaning services; supporting those who earn their business through honest practice and care for their customers. I'm generous in giving a one-star rating for this business. The man sitting in the Naperville location has no customer skills and is unprofessional. He does not seem to care his job, and yelled at me for no reason. I brought in 4 rugs for cleaning; none of them was cleaned well with obvious areas left uncleaned. Plus, his measurements of the rugs were off, of course to him favor. I did not know about this until my wife checked the measurements. Very bad business. I'm glad that they are closing the Naperville location to avoid more people in Naperville being exposed to this bad business. read more

Have been a loyal koshgarian rug cleaner for over 30 years. Service has always been good. There was a problem during recent carpet cleaning in June. The owner will not return my call to discuss the damage. When carpet cleaning occurs without incident, great. If there is a problem that should be addressed, don't expect any professionalism or acknowledgement that a problem exists. read more
