1 star is the lowest I could give this company but it's an ongoing nightmare. We hesitated on writing a review but like many I like to read reviews from others before I commit to a business. I don't understand how other people had such an amazing experience and we didn't. I'm starting to believe those are not real customers. KOTA HAD US GO THROUGH A NIGHTMARE and still are. Their team is unresponsive, they never followed up with us. We were never guided through the app that we have yet to download so we can check on our solar status. It's been almost 3 years!! Our original plan included a main panel upgrade, due to the fact that our panel was not working. This was needed to be able to get solar put on our house. When looking at the design they had everything tucked on the side of our house where the original panel was. However, when they came to do the actual install they put both boxes, the solar converter and the new main panel, directly on the front of our house. This was never agreed to, so we instantly stopped the work. It then took over a year to get them to work with pg&e to get it moved to the original location. They then left damage on the front of the house and it took us reaching back out to get them to fix it. As soon as they fixed it, we never heard from them again. I have reached out and nobody cares to respond. We had some guy by the name of "Parker" asking us for a rating..ridiculous! Asked us for a rating before confirming if we were even satisfied! I do plan on warning our neighbors through "Nextdoor" about them to notify them to look out for "KOTA SOLAR" and that they are dishonest, unreliable and to not trust them to commit to their job because they can care less about their customer service. We are CURRENTLY struggling, we are being ignored and it's be some stressful because we are still being charged through PG&E. Pictures I provided were of them reaching out and taking days to respond and have YET TO RESPOND. WAITING ON AN ANSWER. PER USUAL, we are being pushed aside. Just one of the MANY examples of us being ignored.

This was the worst solar experience imaginable. These people destroyed a wall and halted our renovation, we told them so many times, they didn't care, I had to hire someone after waiting 2 weeks for them just so we could continue. They damaged the electrical to the house, they tracked dog poop all over my house, they damaged exterior walls and never fixed them, they left us without power for a full day and no heat int he dead of winter, they left a generator in our yard for a month despite pleas to come get it, they installed 4 months late, They lied repeatedly about nearly every aspect of the install, they left giant holes in my walls for 6 months now. They are unethical. They do terrible work. The customer service is catastrophic. They left our house damaged, we have paid over $10,000 in repairs. We demanded they pay for this and only covered $5,000 which took them 6 months to pay. We confronted our manager Nate and his boss John Hard. They lied to our faces about nearly everything. I can get into detail if you want to know. They are also silenced anyone below them who tried to help us. I regret choosing Kota more than I can articulate. I have heard other tales of horror. Roofs being destroyed, rain damage from incompetent installs, damage inside the home. They do not care once they have our money. Some of the worst people to work with, pls avoid at all costs. I only wish we could cancel our contract.

My experience with KOTA was easy. Matan Bostick was engaging and informative from the very first minute. He took the time to understand what my needs were and what I was hoping for with the program. I wasn't sure about the number of panels because I was looking to lease an EV. Matan was patience as I went back and forth, and helped me come to a conclusion without trying to upsell with the higher panel count. Matan's focus was solely on me. His only goal was to make sure I had all the answers I needed without any pressure. I knew this would follow suite with KOTA, and it has. I have a handful of neighbors who already used KOTA for their solar needs, and I'm glad I did, too. I felt very comfortable, supported, and confident that my experience with Matan would lead to an equally satisfy experience with pre-inspections, permits and the actual installation this past week. I'd recommend KOTA for your solar needs, and Matan as your sales rep. He is what made KOTA jump to the top over other solar providers that I talked with recently.

KOTA still will not replace defective panels. Now there are two panels going bad and this company is the worst as they do not stand by there products. Shame on them.

I am actively trying to recoup losses from KOTA. The crew that put in my solar panels, caused 17,000+ dollars in damage to my property and counting. They broke many roof tiles, and there are large gaps in most all of the stanchions for the panels frame. One was literally 45 degrees in the air. This means that every rain since the install, damaged my underlayment, plywood, insulation, living room ceiling and walls drywall, and paint (yes I had to put out buckets). I have had two solar certified roofing companies inspect their work, and both have given bids that 15,000 dollars of work needs to be performed to completely reinstall the panels, and replace the underlayment because they were not installed correctly / professionally. This cost is likely to rise once the tiles come off and the plywood and insulation are inspected. I have estimates that the interior damage is 2,000 dollars currently. I have contacted the company for 2 months well over a dozen times, spending countless time on hold, and nothing. I was told by their project managers they fired every install crew they had except one for incompetence, and then the entire Bay Area office was fired. I reached out directly to their CEO and Director who promised to fix my roof "with all urgency" but nothing happened except more damage every time it rains for weeks. Moreover, these are just the current issues. My system failed inspection multiple times. The crew failed to show up multiple times during the install. I called them and told them the were planning to install incompatible microinvertors in the plans, and they completely ignored me, delaying the installation for months when they showed up with the ones (I told them) wouldn't work. The company failed to install the panels where we agreed. Their crew installed the cut-off switch in the middle of my wood storage and lied they could not move it. My entire system stopped working last year, and after four months, I had 3,000+ in charges to pay for before they replaced every microinvertor (after trying to claim it was an "act of god" not their absolutely amateur installation). The only good thing about this company is the salesman. KOTA is a dumpster fire, point blank, full stop. If you had an installation done by them in the Bay Area, PLEASE have it inspected (a roofer / solar company will likely do this for free). Your roof is likely being damaged every time it rains. The longer you wait, the more damage there will be. There is no question this is KOTAs fault. I had zero leaks, and my entire roof inspected, and all aging materials replaced a year prior to KOTAs installation. Please see the pictures attached, it is simple to see their shoddy / poor workmanship, and the issues it caused.

We had a great experience with Rae from Kota. He was recommended by a friend and did what we wanted: gave us clear information, answered our questions clearly, honestly, and without pressure, and let us move the project forward at our own pace. In the end we wound up financing the entire thing including a new roof (through the company the Rae recommended). The entire process took a bit of time given that we first had to get the roofing done and then schedule the installation, but Kota was pretty quick to do their part of things. The slowest part was waiting for the city inspections and for PG&E. Kota wasn't the cheapest quote we got, but it seemed like they had a good process and I felt best about moving forward with Rae compared to the several other salespeople with whom I spoke. I will admit that people from Kota still knock on my door now and ask me why I don't have solar, but I imagine that they'll update that system and stop fairly soon? 5 stars for Rae in particular; Kota in general was fine but I can't really compare the install or other parts of the process with other companies. In the end our system is cranking out the predicted amount of electrical and we have negative usage so feeling pretty good about that, and will feel even better when the tax credit kicks in!

Unlike some other companies that sub everything out, their in-house team handled the electrical and roofing work seamlessly. You can tell they take a lot of pride in the quality of the install--everything looks clean and is performing perfectly. ​If you're looking for an honest, reliable solar company that actually respects deadlines and treats your home right, look no further. Inquired about having my Solar system looked at due to no power to my inverters. Chris reached out…read morequickly to me and we set up a date for a tech to look at my system. Chris contacted me the following morning and advised me a tech was on the way. Tech Seng came out and looked at my system and started trouble shooting it. My inverters weren't on and I have a Tigo system. My panels were producing power but power wasn't being used by me. Seng was able to talk with Tigo and they informed us that 7 panels were down and over producing which in turn for safety shuts down the inverters. Tigo was able to shut those 7 panels down so I could still get power from the other panels and the inverters would then work. So power finally got restored and new panels would be sent to me to get installed. I also asked Seng to give me a quote on a separate plug for my ev to go off the solar breaker panel. Seng did a great job troubleshooting it and to get it back online. Wasn't sure on all the cost and estimates. Jessica the office manager called me and we worked out pricing for the install of the new panels (when they arrive) and the ev plug. They gave me a credit for the work they did today for the future work I will have them do. This is what I would call great customer service, both parties getting a great experience and reasonable.. I would highly recommend

This year (2024) I decided that my electric bill was just too much, I was going to get solar eventually, and the longer I put it off the more it would cost me overall. I liked that they didn't harass me. Once some folks get your number they just wont stop calling. Diablo didn't bug me back in 2020 and they were not really trying the hard sale this time either. I called them, had a brief discussion about what I was looking for, and scheduled a visit. I didn't know much about solar installations, so I spoke with a friend who was familiar with these things. He told me what to look out for in terms of equipment. After I got the quote, the folks at Diablo were very helpful answering questions along these lines. Again just providing information, not trying to sell me. Diablo handled everything and scheduled a time to do the install. Overall it took about 3 days. Two days for most of the hardware and then a day about a week later to deal with the mess in my breaker box from some previous work done by another company. Then they handled everything with PG&E and about a month later everything was cleared on PG&Es end. This delay was due to PG&E processing paperwork. Overall it's working well. Just see the before and after photos below. Not of my roof but of my electric consumption. You can see some before and after values as well as how the system performed on a particularly hot day.

I've been a loyal customer here for over four years, but after my experience today, I am completely…read moredone. For the last 14 months, I've been paying my monthly fees faithfully, yet I haven't received a single service visit. No maintenance, no proactive calls, nothing. Their billing system is a disaster and their communication is nonexistent. The breaking point was a call I received today. They told me they updated their billing system and needed to collect payment again. When I pointed out that I've been paying for over a year without a single person showing up to do the work, and that they have zero records of calling me to schedule.. they flat out refused to admit it. I asked to speak to an owner or a manager to resolve the refund for the service I never got. Instead, a man got on the phone, spent the whole time talking over me, and then actually HUNG UP up on me. Now, every time I call back to finish the conversation, it goes straight to voicemail. It is honestly ridiculous that a customer has to chase a company down to get them to do the job they are already being paid for. To be treated with such disrespect after four years is a slap in the face. Save yourself the headache and go with a company that actually values its customers and answers the phone.

I can't say enough good things about Carlos Gomez from Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions…read more I've been working on a non-standard solar setup using an EcoFlow Delta Pro Ultra X and EcoFlow Smart Home Panel 3, and finding a contractor who truly understood this type of system was incredibly difficult. I spoke with many contractors, and almost all of them sent salespeople who gave generic answers or tried to push cookie-cutter solutions that clearly didn't fit my setup. Carlos was completely different. From the moment he arrived, it was clear he wasn't a salesperson -- he's an engineer, and it shows. He took the time to deeply understand my system, reviewed actual spec sheets on the spot, and immediately identified issues that other contractors completely missed. Multiple companies told me Hyundai panels would work fine. Carlos checked the amperage limits, applied proper safety margin calculations, and clearly explained why those panels would not work with my EcoFlow system -- saving me from a costly mistake. He also walked me through: Proper panel selection within voltage and amperage limits Safe string configurations and series wiring How to maximize roof space while staying within code Permitting requirements I hadn't been told about before On top of that, Carlos identified critical code and safety requirements that no one else mentioned: Bollards required in the garage to protect battery units Correct battery placement to maintain required clearance from doors and entrances Heat detector requirements for battery installations in a garage These are all things that would have caused inspection failures later -- and Carlos caught them immediately. He spent well over an hour with me, climbed onto my roof to check for obstructions, inspected battery placement, reviewed wiring paths, and answered every question in detail without ever rushing me. What truly sealed the deal was how efficient and transparent the pricing process was. Carlos was able to turn around a detailed quote very quickly, and when I received it, I was honestly surprised -- it was a significant amount lower than every other quote I received, even though his evaluation was by far the most thorough. Given everything: His technical expertise The level of detail and care The ability to integrate with my existing system The fast turnaround And the much better pricing Choosing Sunlight Electri-Cal Solutions was a complete no-brainer. Carlos is knowledgeable, meticulous, honest, and genuinely passionate about doing things the right way. After meeting him, I completely understand why this company has such strong Yelp reviews. Juan was very responsive and came out to take a look at our home right away. What I loved about Juan and his team is they are NOT sales people, they're real engineers who are focused on solving your problems and meeting your needs. Juan and his team are true solar experts and know exactly what they are doing - they were great at walking me through key details I should know about the system, how to best take advantage of having a solar system, and did their best to get me scheduled (in spite of multiple difficulties) for installation before the end of the year. Just for context, I've talked to another solar company where clearly they were just about trying to close the deal and sell sell sell, which really turned me off - it felt like they just wanted our money as opposed to wanting to understand what we really needed. Juan's team really shined here by just showing up to be real experts who are thoughtful about what system you need, as opposed to trying to close a deal. Juan and his team were also really patient and flexible. Our new home's solar system had to be turned on before we could start any work, and that process took months due to Sunnova going bankrupt. And, they were also really thoughtful when we mentioned we had added in some upgrades that would affect electricity use (ie saunas and outdoor electric heaters), and they reassessed their initial project and updated it to accommodate that. I thoroughly enjoyed working with them and am really grateful that we got our project done so well!!

My husband and I dug in our heels FOREVER, when it came to getting solar. There were all kinds of…read moresalespeople who came to our home on a monthly basis, and we just never had a real peace about being able to trust what we were being " sold", or told. My parents purchased solar from a HORRIBLE company that sounds a lot like 'SunFun'. After they passed away, and the house was sold...we were STILL making the monthly payments for over a year!!! That SunFun organization REFUSED to transfer the solar to the new homeowner, and eventually stopped taking or acknowledging our calls. It wasn't until we had to threaten the new homeowner with a lawsuit that SunFun finally transferred ownership. Due to this, we could not trust any of these solar companies...that is, until Kevin Bedard came to our home, and explained everything in great detail to my husband and I. He took the time to hear about our concerns, and he showed us how he truly cared. That same week, we spoke to two other families who shared their positive experiences about Ambrose Solar that made us feel that we would be in great hands. We had FINALLY FOUND A PEACE about getting solar on our home; KNOWING we would be in good hands, and we were ALL IN. It's been six months now, and we are beyond pleased with our solar panels, and the two Tesla batteries we have purchased. We are true fans, who have NOTHING but RAVE REVIEWS for this company. If you don't have solar, or if you need to add solar, Kevin Bedard is your man! and Ambrose is your company. Every employee has been amazing and helpful. In a world where customer service has taken a dump, this company has remained a class act. So again...if you are considering solar, call Ambrose, and tell them Albert and Rhonda sent you.

My project is now finished and it's been about 6 months turned on and functioning- I'm still so…read moreglad that I did this with Ambrose Solar. Any home renovation project has bumps, and this one had its fair share: after initial install they monitor the systems production remotely to see if it's doing what it's supposed to/expected to, and my system was initially under-performing. They caught it and sent out a team to problem solve it, which took a couple tries, but they didn't drag their feet, they kept on it and kept at it and got it resolved. It was no fault of theirs, just a technology glitch. Core fear was that they would give up after a couple failures and leave me following up with them to get it done, but I never had to worry about that. I also did not end up liking where they placed the control box- it was something that was going to make future maintenance of my house trim problematic down the line. They willingly moved it up a few inches for me (and my only complaint was the team that did that didn't patch the original hole as efficiently as they should have. If I had understood the box placement better on the first pass that would never have happened, so this is a bit of a complaint of my own making.) Jon Landsman, who sold me the system, stayed with us the whole time tracking the project, checking in, and following through on every detail, every question, every concern. He never made me feel like the demanding diva that I am, was always prompt and gracious! The bottom line is that start to finish, even with a few bumps in the road, I have zero question that this is a company that legitimately cares about doing what is right. The culture of deeply valuing customer service that they have built is unmatched by many businesses these days. I am SO pleased, and SO impressed, and I can promise that you will be too!
