First time I've visited Kotta Japanese. It's in a convenient spot in the Lowes Foods shopping center on Reynolda. First impressions, the inside is a bit cluttered and feels like the usual strip mall Chinese restaurant. Our table wasn't clean. I ordered the Teriyaki Jumble Shimp Kabobs because there was a picture and it looked really good. The plate had a rice base, which was decent. Vegetables :typical, sweet and soft carrots, sautéed zucchini, onion. It came with an orange sauce: creamy and slightly sweet. Pretty normal hibachi style place. The shrimp kabobs were really good. Nine shrimp spread over three skewers. They were crispy on the outside and the teriyaki flavor was pretty nice. I was torn between adding a star for the food, but it just wasn't special and I don't know if I'd come back.

Meh. It wasn't *bad* per se, but I just wasn't impressed. I got the steak (not filet) and shrimp with half rice and half noodles. It was over $20 with a 20% tip. It was packaged nicely and a decent portion but everything was lacking flavor. The steak had no seasoning and the shrimp were kind of small and just not great quality. I didn't love the rice or noodles - again, lacking flavor. I also was not a big fan of the shrimp sauce. It was kind of runny and overly sweet. I placed an online order & it was easy and ready in 15-20 minutes. Staff were fine but not overly friendly. For the price point, I unfortunately wouldn't come here again. There are cheaper, tastier options all around.

This was my first time trying this place. The previous reviews are not so favorable but a friend of mine ate here and said it was delicious. I tried it today and our food was absolutely wonderful. I had the jumbo shrimp, steamed rice, carrots and vegetables. My friend had the scallops with noodles and veggies. Both were really great. I would definitely go back.

My boyfriend took me here for lunch, neither of us having been here before. I thought the food was delicious! The serving sizes were decent, and I felt full and didn't eat much of the rice. The only reason I am giving four stars instead of five is because I asked for noodles instead of rice, which was one of the options for no extra charge. I wasn't so pressed about this to the point that I'd ask for a new plate, and the rice tasted good regardless.

Grilled chicken, steak and shrimp hibachi plates with spring rolls. The ginger and shrimp sauce is really good. Variety of portions of meat and vegetarian options as well. Fast and easy meal.

Jumbo Shrimp and Chicken 9 small shrimp 6 small chunks of chicken Vegetables were good Rice was stale

I ordered shrimp and chicken and the only had jumbo shrimp and chicken for 16.50 on lunch menu. I received 9 small shrimp and less chicken. Rice was stale. Very disappointing. Should have known when the restaurant was empty. Had to clean my own table and chair.

The food was good. But I will point out that for 12 bucks they should fill the plate with rice. Would go again if needed

We were promptly greeted upon entering and shown to our table. The restaurant was about 75% full of other patrons and the dining room was clean and comfortable. Along with regular tables, there was limited seating at the sushi bar. As we began looking over the menu, our server made us aware of the lunch specials on the back page, which was greatly appreciated. I went with the Teriyaki Beef and my wife had the Hibachi Chicken. I chose the side salad with the house ginger dressing and my wife had the miso soup. Both of us went with white rice. Our sides came out pretty quick, and once we finished our sides, our entrees came out like clockwork. The Teriyaki Beef with accompanying vegetables tasted great, but I felt the portion size of both could have been larger. Still, it was a good value. Now, the portion size of the Hibachi Chicken with vegetables was much better, and it may be my choice next time. I want to mention that the sushi I saw being delivered to other tables looked pretty amazing, so the Hibachi Chicken may have to wait. Service was excellent throughout our visit. The only suggestion would be some soft background authentic Japanese music to add to the experience.

We got there almost 2 hours before closing and it was packed! The service was quick and precise, and they had a wide variety of specialty rolls, entrees, drinks, and Sake. The sushi bar visible from each seat. The chairs were comfortable and easily accessible, it had a TV that was playing basketball at the time, and also music playing in the background. The food was delicious! We ordered A few rolls and a chicken fried rice. I would easily recommend this place to anyone looking for good sushi, sashimi, or Hibachi, since that's what Japanese restaurants are known for.

The service was great, from the girl taking our order at the counter to the server, and even the cook came out and said hi and merry Christmas. I ordered a single hibachi scallop entree with veggie, fries rice, and a side of fried shrimp dim sum. The rice was fairly bland, but easily fixable with soy sauce. The scallops are the smaller bay scallops, but tasted good. Good veggies too. The dim sum appetizer was fine. Drinks are cans and bottles. If it weren't for the service I might have given this a 3-star. Average food.

But, when I went inside to grab my order and pay, the total was still the same $5.45. I was in shock and awe, I cannot remember the last time I got lunch for under $6- it was surely nearly a decade ago, and not in the recent past. I enjoyed the meal, even if it was a touch bland, but it is a $5 lunch special, so it's hard to complain. The veggies were still crispy and delicious and the steamed rice was nice and fluffy. The chicken was well seasoned, and I liked how they used cabbage as a cheap filler veggie in this hibachi. It was a good and affordable meal. I even had enough left over for a light dinner or lunch!

We were originally planning to hit up our usual AYCE spot in Greensboro but didn't want to deal with the wait, so we decided to try Kimono since it's closer to home. Big mistake. Let's start with the rolls - they're basically rice bombs with a hint of fish somewhere in there. If you're into eating mostly rice with your sushi, then jackpot! But if you're looking for that perfect rice-to-fish ratio and fresh, vibrant flavors that good sushi should have, keep driving. The quality is barely a step above what you'd grab from Harris Teeter's sushi counter, and I'm being generous here. The only saving grace was our server, who was attentive and friendly throughout the meal. But friendly service can't make up for mediocre food, especially when the bill hits $120 for three people. At that price point, you expect way better quality. Bottom line: Save your money and make the drive to a better spot. There are too many good sushi places in the Triad to settle for this. Your wallet (and taste buds) will thank you later.

The rolls were heavy on the rice, which overwhelmed the other flavors. Additionally, there was an off-putting funky taste that made the sushi comparable to what you'd find in a grocery store. On a positive note, the waiter was extremely nice and friendly, providing great service throughout the meal. While the ambiance and service were pleasant, the sushi itself did not live up to expectations. It gets one star for bad food and the extra star for the great service.

We wanted sushi and red curry and they delivered us some excellent eats. Service was awesome and the manager still always comes by to ask if everything is ok. Love that. Probably at some point will need a Reno as they have been open awhile but nothing looked bad nice busy atmosphere and lots of customers which is nice to see. We ordered a standard vodka soda from the drink menu. They have drink specials every day as well. Then we tried the sweet heat roll which was so pretty ! Delicious with all the sushi elements. Yum. Then we tried the poke bowl with ahi tuna. Wow so big! Rice, seaweed salad and lots of Veggies and a yummy soy wasabi vinaigrette. The tuna sashimi was so fresh. Then the red curry with chicken. We asked for extra Thai spicy and it was just the perfect heat. Served with white rice this was a huge portion honestly could have served 3 people. We still had a lot left over . They were also great about giving us another bowl of rice which is also a nice touch . The sauce here for this red curry is amazing. I will be back to buy it as we asked if they sell it and our server said yes . It is one of the best I've ever had. We were somewhat totally full !! Haha!
