    Good stuff
    Fred B.

This is a really cool place, attractively upfitted in a most modern way. The place has a sense of serenity, calmness - very pleasant, music softly playing. It is colorful, softly lit, and much of it is rather open, no crowded feeling. There are 2 dining areas - the main one and smaller one in the bar area. This spot was opened in Feb 2025 by Xia Lieu and his wife, Anna Bui. They also own and operate What Da Pho, which opened in late Dec of 2022. What Da Pho is a dedicated Vietnamese restaurant, while Xia's will be more Asian fusion. Xia was born in Vietnam but came to the USA when he was 4. His father was a chef, so he has been around the restaurant business most of his life. Xia opened his first restaurant in WS in 2006, Xia Asian Bistro, which closed in 2010. He operated several other Asian themed spots in Winston, and ones in Greensboro and Greenville. So there is much restaurant experience in him and his family. I've tried a Bahn Mi with pork, and one with beef. The sandwich comes with pickled carrots, daikons, cucumber, and house mayo. Maybe more than any sandwich, the Bahn Mi demands a great quality bread - and it is always a crusty baguette, thanks to the French influence in Vietnam. The one here was very good, not quite the best in the Triad, but very good. The ingredients were generally nice, if not exactly plentiful, though I would have preferred the cucumber be julienned and the lack of liver pate is definitely not traditional. The mayo alone, and the mentioned lack of live pate, didn't make the sandwich very flavorful. I added Lao Gan Ma Spicy Chili Crispy, then we had a winner! But "fixing" a food item that costs $8 to $9 is not something I'll try again. I also tried the Singapore Street Noodles with Shrimp. The noodles are vermicelli sized and plentiful, and the dish includes carrot, onion, Napa cabbage, and scallion with a spicy curry sauce. This dish was nice, and I've had it recently at Jade Garden, China House, New Sichuan, 18 MALYSIA, and Mr Lu's. I would order this item. It is not a menu item but an occasional special.

Very clean pristine! The noodles we delicate and the curry was a little spicy in the very best way! The pho was very good as well. My tea was okay I've had better but it wasn't bad.

I can't believe it took me two years to discover this place! I stopped in for takeout tonight and the restaurant was adorable with its Christmas decorations and very clean. The Banh Mi was a little smaller than others I've had, but incredibly fresh and packed with flavor. Honestly, this might be the best Banh Mi in the Triad. Highly recommend!

What a gift we have in Winston! What da Pho is a lovely treat, and I'm thrilled we get more from this chef. Big pluses for the green beans (everyone loved them), the tofu (always a win) and the pho (absolutely yes.) Service was excellent and the vibes were chill: I hope this place does well and sticks around!

Truly enjoyed this place. The food was really good! I had the Singapore noodles and the flavor was off the chain! The texture of the rice noodles was perfect, they did not fall apart and were firm but cooked! It is a bit spicy but i don't handle spice well and I was able to happily eat every bite! My wife has the Chicken Phơ. The broth is clear and full of flavor. The rice noodles, again, were perfect. My only complaint is it could have had more chicken. The flavor made up for that though. We also had the pork egg rolls and was very impressed. The wrap was light and crispy and the filling had great flavor. We also had the Chicken lettuce wraps. Loved the filling but would not have done the iceberg lettuce. It took away from the flavor of the filling. Greenleaf or romaine would have been much better. Still gave 5 stars because it was worth it! Service was very friendly and personable. The restaurant is quaint and inviting. Looks like they are still working on one side but you do not see that from where you sit. Highly recommend!

Stopped in for dinner last week with friends and we were blown away! The food was incredible, the service was so friendly and the restaurant was so festive for Christmas. We shared several small plates, my favs being the garlic green beans and garlic noodles. It was all so delicious and we'll definitely be returning!

I love this place so far! I've come here a few times-either in person or ordered thru door dash. The dishes I've had so far have all been great! The vermicelli bowls and banh mi's are my go-to's for lunch. I love that it's close by to my workplace and I can order online to pick up! Their pho is excellent (rare steak is my favorite) for this cold weather. Lots of open seating space and their staff is very friendly. They have their own parking lot which is great for being in downtown. I don't have to go to Greensboro anymore now that I can get my Vietnamese fix from Xia's!

A new addition to downtown, we stumbled across Xia's on social media and decided to try it. We came close to closing time and it was empty, but they were gracious and welcomed us to dine in anyways. The ambiance and decor is very nice, with warm dim lighting and just the right amount of decor without being overbearing. There was serene music playing in the background. There's two indoor areas for seating, one of which has a bar (but we didn't try that tonight since it was going to be a quick meal.) The menu is limited but has enough to satisfy most tastes. With Tapas in the name, there are of course many appetizer options from dumplings to egg rolls to edamame. We tried the fried pork dumplings and while they could have taken 30 more seconds in the pan to crisp, they tasted great and had a very tasty dipping sauce. My wife had the garlic noodles with chicken. We weren't sure what to expect with a description of "egg noodles" on the menu (that's a wide flat noodle in my mind), but they turned out to be what I would call Lo Mein noodles. The sauce they used was great, with a sweet and savory flavor mix and just the right amount of garlic. This was a very filling portion for the price, and we would definitely have it again. I saw a white board advertising Singapore street noodles as a special item, so I got those with pork as a protein option. I was not prepared for how large of a serving they brought out, and plenty of it ended up coming home with me. The board suggested it was spicy, and while I didn't appreciate much spice, it was very good flavor. A splash of Sriracha added the bit of spice I was craving. One thing I really enjoyed was having Hoisin sauce on the table along with the standard soy and Sriracha sauces. I am a huge fan of Hoisin though I have never seen it as a table condiment, so that was a nice treat. This is a great new addition to downtown, one which we will certainly come back to. I can see this being great for groups as well with lots of open seating and sharable food options.

I came here for a quick lunch , I had the tofu lettuce wraps . As a vegetarian these were 10/10 , you can taste the authentic flavor in the sauce compare to places like PF Chang and red bowl. The plate was a big portion came with a half a head of lettuce. The mix vegetables was good as well , only suggestion is more vegetables. Maybe I should've got the dinner size lol. The menu was catered more to pho and Thai meals . Next time I come I have to try the Pho bowls . This is more of a quick eats place , the establishment wasn't too attractive with ambience. The server was the owner she was fabulous and attentive. My water never reach the bottom of my glass. Prices are the lowest in the city for lunch .. highly recommend!

We had a larger group and service was good even with the amount of people at the table. We went on Wednesday evening, so it wasn't extremely crowded, but there were several other patrons in the restaurant at the time that we were there. Pretty cool experience to be able to tase multiple dishes in one setting. They have an outdoor seating area that we wanted to sit in, but our party was too large. We'll definitely have to try that next time I visit! Definitely would come back again. Parking is limited so plan accordingly!

I have wanted to try this place for months. It is convenient to the arts venue across the street and a perfect place to get dinner beforehand. Any good sandwich starts with superior bread and the Bahn Mi was absolutely delicious. There was a good variety of Asian dishes with many vegetarian options. The staff were very attentive. We had dumplings , garlic noodles , lettuce wraps , dumplings, and spring rolls and still got out with a reasonable check. I will definitely be returning.

My husband and I ate here on our latest date night. I really love their other restaurants so I was excited to try Xia's. We shared several items off their menu. I tried the plum wine which I enjoyed, but it is sweet if you do not like sweet wine. We also had their steamed dumplings and lettuce wraps, which were some of our favorite dishes. We also enjoyed the garlic noodles with shrimp as well as the pork sandwich. The only dish we did not like were the chicken skewers because they were very salty. Our server was great. He was attentive, but didn't hover. The restaurant is modern and they also have a nice outdoor area for warmer weather.

Probably at some point will need a Reno as they have been open awhile but nothing looked bad nice busy atmosphere and lots of customers which is nice to see. We ordered a standard vodka soda from the drink menu. They have drink specials every day as well. Then we tried the sweet heat roll which was so pretty ! Delicious with all the sushi elements. Yum. Then we tried the poke bowl with ahi tuna. Wow so big! Rice, seaweed salad and lots of Veggies and a yummy soy wasabi vinaigrette. The tuna sashimi was so fresh. Then the red curry with chicken. We asked for extra Thai spicy and it was just the perfect heat. Served with white rice this was a huge portion honestly could have served 3 people. We still had a lot left over . They were also great about giving us another bowl of rice which is also a nice touch . The sauce here for this red curry is amazing. I will be back to buy it as we asked if they sell it and our server said yes . It is one of the best I've ever had. We were somewhat totally full !! Haha! Our soups and appetizer were the absolute best thing we ate. Our entrees were okay. My husband got the beef bulgogi and it needed something. The beef was well cooked but didn't seem to have any salt, soy sauce, or anything like that. It was a 5 out of 10.

I decided to try some entrees from the Khmer menu. I tryed the Malaysian Roti appetizer with side curry. It is so so delicous. The curry is tasty too but a little too sweet for my taste. Main entrees I tryed was the chicken kroeung (sour lemongrass soup) and the braised pork meat on bone cooked in soy sauce( Malaysian style but Khmer people have a similar dish). The chicken kroeung is soup for the soul, filled with alot of green veggies and best eaten with white rice. The braised pork meat is great too. Cooked just right and seasoned good. Its not sweet or salty. Usually I would try braised meat in soy at other restaurants either it would be way too sweet or salty but they made theres just right. I really wish Winston Salem had a great Banh Mi available. There are some good Pho restaurants but…read morethey don't serve Banh Mi usually and when they do it's not quite the authentic version I'm looking for. I had the Banh Mi at What Da Pho in the past and remember it was good so that's what I ordered this time. Additionally we ordered crab wontons and summer rolls. The restaurant is a little hidden but if you park in the parking structure adjacent to the restaurant it's super easy to get inside. First impressions are it's quiet- no music in the dining room, and the decor is sort of an afterthought with scotch tape holding LED lights to the walls and some Asian inspired pictures but not very well thought out. It's Ok, I'm not coming for the decor. The service is a little lacking. They are giving the bare minimum here so don't expect your server to be too friendly. The crab wontons and summer rolls arrived quickly. The crab wontons were super hot and crispy right from the deep fryer. They were filled with a delicious imitation crab and cream cheese mixture and when dipped in the sweet chili sauce they were exactly the thing I was craving. The summer rolls were equally as fresh and delicious. The filling of cold rice noodles, crisp lettuce and shrimp then dipped in the accompanying peanut sauce was just as delicious. We ordered one pork and one beef Banh Mi. The first thing I noticed was how plentiful the meat was in each one. Usually it's a light sandwich but these were very hefty in comparison to others I've had. My meat was very savory and had a very tender texture, almost like pot roast. It was also the juiciest pork I've ever had in a Banh mi. The picked vegetables were also really good but both our sandwiches were missing the jalapeno I've come to expect. My husband really enjoyed his beef one as well but we both noticed how the bread lacked that crusty flaky quality that Vietnamese baguettes normally have. This was more of a sub roll with a chewy texture and softer crust. The flavors were great, I just missed the textures I have come to expect in an authentic Banh mi.
