He's also very reasonable on fees. He represented me in two lease deals. I found the process to be easy and he helped shape the tenant paperwork and get us into a place quickly (a big help when we had young kids!). He also worked on negotiations to save us hundreds of dollars a month. He's a stand up guy and he really gets to know what is important for clients. He also represented us on the sell side of a condo in the city during a challenging real estate market. He got the darn thing sold at a good price and faster than we expected. On our buy side deal, he helped us find local contractors and vendors to conduct repairs for our new home and otherwise made the closing process very easy. The technology his firm uses is outstanding and it really helps the deal come together quickly. Yes, brokers have to charge a fee but with Alan he earned it and more. Israel Ballesteros, a real estate agent with Remax Horizon in Elgin, IL was extremely difficult to…read morework with. After days of "working the numbers" his buyer placed an offer on our property which we promptly countered, but Mr. Ballesteros was very unprofessional during attempted negotiations by ignoring numerous messages. He was totally non-responsive to our agent for several days at a time. Meanwhile, we suspect there was also an offer placed on another property(s) since the buyer's own home would now be closing in two weeks, and although we had agreed to the terms, the one in hand was suddenly withdrawn because: "Something came up that they have their eyes on." It is highly questionable that an entirely new transaction could be completed in such a short time frame. . Placing an undisclosed second offer while ours was still in play is highly unethical. Pursuant to the Realtors Code of Ethics his actions appear to be in violation of its basic premise "to treat all parties honestly." Minimally, Mr. Ballesteros should review the Code of Ethics and attend a communications seminar. We reached out to both his manager and the owner of Remax Horizon with our concerns, but received no response from either of them. We would NOT recommend Israel Ballesteros or any interaction with Remax Horizon in Elgin, IL when there are so many agents and realtors out there with excellent communication skills, and certainly, higher standards of professionalism.

Amy listened to all we had to say and carefully found great listings for us to consider and see in person. At the time, we were living out of state and decided that we wanted to spend a weekend in Chicago to check the properties ourselves(I would highly recommend you do this if you are in a similar situation as it's easier to get a feel for things in person vs pictures/videos). We looped Amy into the dates that we would be here and she worked her magic and had all of our listings showed to us on a single day. The night before, we saw a listing become available on the market and also asked Amy to include that in the showing. She worked diligently and made it happen come showing day. Amy's got great communication skills and made the whole process a breeze! Since we did not have a car with us, she even offered to drive us to the showings and also show us around the neighborhoods. Such a stressful experience if done on your own but again, Amy made it such a great, and easy one. After all the properties we saw, we finally went with the one that felt the most right to us and Amy amazed us again with negotiating out deals with the property owner/company that managed it. She walked us through the steps on what we needed to do next to secure the property and was available throughout the whole process to help answer all the questions we had as well as being very reassuring throughout the process of application. The market can be competitive and scary for rental properties but having a great realtor definitely gave us a competitive edge and a huge reassurance. He nudged me gently into getting things cleared out, organized, and listed in time for the beginning of the 2017 sales season, and the closing just took place this morning. He and his assistant Nate Ortiz handled any number of picky details and steered me in the right direction for cleaners, junk removers, etc. His advice on upgrading the unit was spot on (in this case it was "don't!") Pricing was perfect. Turnaround time on emails and phone calls was lightening-fast. Good guy; good agent; knows the market and the 'hood. Polish up those five stars - if they had neon I'd add it:-)
