Went to take a shower at 5 AM and had no hot water. Checked and found out hot water heater pilot went out for the first time since I purchased it. When it comes to messing with gas in my home I have a no hands policy. I called Green Tech to schedule an appointment and left a VM around 6:15. At 6:45 I got a call back. The tech was calling me from his mobile while driving into the office. He literally walked me through what I had to do. "Have you ever lit a gas BBQ? Same concept." Did as he instructed and BAM, we are back in business. Green Tech could have come out and charged me an hourly, which I was willing to pay for, but instead taught an old man a new skill. I can't say enough good things about my experience with Green Tech Plumbing! A can do kind of company! I've found it increasingly difficult to find service companies that are knowledgeable in their field, responsive, honest and provide excellent customer service. Not only did Green Tech Plumbing check all these boxes, but they also offer fair pricing. A unicorn of a business. After being overcharged and underwhelmed by our previous plumber, I was on the hunt for a capable plumber to install a whole house water filtration system. From the moment I reached out to Green Tech Plumbing, they were nothing but responsive and helpful. I purchased the filtration system from a vendor, yet Kevin willingly answered all my questions (promptly!) about the system. He even pointed out that one of the options had expensive filters that would need to be changed frequently saving me hundreds of dollars in filters. What a gem! Kevin came out to look at how the system could be installed in our space and talked to me through how the system would work and answered all my questions. He then provided a fair quote. Once our system was delivered, I emailed to set up the installation. His team came out the following week for the installation. The tech Kevin sent was just as helpful! He moved the 100-pound tank from the garage to the basement, which wasn't part of their scope. The tech had to make a run to the hardware store to buy connection pieces that weren't included with system, but he knew exactly what to buy and did so in a timely manner. The install was speedy and flawless. The tech was even willing to stay while I called the vendor's water filtration system customer service expert to walk us through the start up process. On top of this great experience, I wrote a check for the incorrect amount and Kevin responded right away saying he would swing by and drop a check in our mailbox for the overpayment. Unreal! Recently had my sewer line cleaned. The clean out is in the basement which makes it more difficult to do. Richie Diaz did an exceptional job and explained the process to me in detail while do so. Then used the camera to show me my entire sewer line to the village main. Also explained why I should consider a larger clean out access outside my home. I appreciated that they asked how old the water heater was and when. hearing it was almost 8 years old, advised that while they would fix the leak, they couldn't guarantee other problems wouldn't occur due to age. Also appreciated that they asked for photos to ensure they'd have the right replacement parts upon arrival (saving time and cost for them to go to a store). Gas was shut off because the Gas Company detected a leak on the building piping. I called a plumber with high ratings because they were close. The charge was $65 to look at the job and give me an estimate. The estimate was $900. I wanted them to repair the pipes identified by the Gas company I called Green Tech because I thought they were on Grace Ave and were close. At first they said we were out of their zone. After getting more info Green Tech said they said a plumber would be at our location within the hour. I was quoted an hourly fee. Green Tech sent Roland. Roland listened to what pipes I wanted him to try to repair. I had already installed a pressure gauge on the end of the line at the stove. The pipes were quickly repaired including adding a union, replacing a couple nipples. Retested and there was still a drop in pressur. Old gas valve in kitchen was replaced and tested again. Drop was very low so he recommended calling the Gas company to retest. The gas company came back and found there was still a slight leak however in order to not go into the walls they took a closer look at the old gas gang valves for the dryer that passed a bubble test. They said that there could be an internal leak in the valve. After replacement the loss of pressure was halted. Roland charged for one hour. Roland listened to what I wanted to try before going into the walls. Plumbers who listen to the customers are well worth the hourly fee. I would trust green tech for other plumbing services and will gladly pay the hourly rate over some off the wall estimate. read more

I chose Green Tech Plumbing because they were local to Des Plaines and had great ratings. Unfortunately, my experience did not match those of the others. I was given a quote of $300 for an hour (1.5 hours) job over the phone. When my technician came out, without doing a diagnostic check, he deduced a different problem and quoted me for $700 for 3 hour job. My technician was prompt, professional, and courteous. After completing the three hour job in two hours, I was billed $780., no big deal on the cost differential. However, the problem was not resolved. The technician came out a third time and found a completely different issue, which was resolved in about 20 minutes.. If I have any further issues, I probably will be looking for a different plumbing service. read more

Our shower started backing up and I couldn't fix it so we called Green Tech, who the in-laws have always trusted with their pipes. They came out within a few hours, at the time they said they'd be here. Has that ever happened before? Not for me! Bait and Switch on Quoted Price and Unfair Billing Practices I hired this company based on the numerous positive reviews I had read, and was initially quoted $950 for a sump pump replacement. The initial service appointment immediately ran into a complication: * The technician did not have the necessary 2" to 1 1/4" pipe fitting/reducer for the job. * He attempted to reuse my old fitting. * After assembly, the sump pump leaked at the old fitting. * The technician apologized and explained he would have to return on a different day with the correct part. A few days later, the technician returned, installed the correct fitting, and then presented me with a second bill for $270. Since the return visit was solely due to the technician's lack of the correct part on the first visit, I questioned this charge. 1. I immediately called the company and spoke with an individual named Fred. 2. Fred acknowledged the situation and assured me that the matter was resolved, stating I was "all set and not to worry about any other charges." However, a week later, I received a call from Bill attempting to collect the $270. In this conversation: * Bill was immediately aggressive and seemed to be in a very bad mood. * He was dismissive, constantly cutting me off and refusing to let me fully explain the preceding events. * He went as far as to threaten placing a lien on my house over the disputed $270 charge. I remained respectful during the call, but there was simply no reasoning with Bill. This entire experience, from the technician's lack of necessary parts to the subsequent bait-and-switch billing and aggressive collection tactics, is unacceptable. Due to the company's lack of accountability and clear unfair billing practices, they will unfortunately no longer be my go-to choice for plumbing services.
