Update: they finally came and changed the part needed. Then a week later our furnace broke again. We called them 3 weeks ago. They claimed we needed a new motor and they would be in touch within a few days, it's been 3 weeks and still have yet to hear from them. As far as they know we have been sitting in the cold for 3 weeks now. We called them again a few days ago and they still have yet to call us back. This company is a joke! Pretty sure it's an emergency if someone's furnace breaks! I cannot express enough how awful this company is. Luckily, we called someone else who said the motor is fine and they fixed the real problem! This place is a scam. read more

Had them come out to clean my mini splits they installed a year prior (and did a good job). All they did was spray in some coil cleaner in each unit and sprayed the hose on the coils of my compressor. Theycharged $160 for it.... After the "cleaning" I noticed all the fans were covered in junk in each unit. Called the office manager and he said they were supposed to clean the fans but didn't. They said they would send someone out to redo it but never did! A call back resulted in nothing. I just want the work done right... Don't hire them to clean your system. read more

We lost hot water after the city had a water main break. They did come within a half hour of being called. They decided it needed the same part we had already google-searched that we needed (bypass water valve.) We stopped short from ordering it ourselves for $60 online where we would have gotten it the next day. We allowed Kozy to purchase/replace the part because they were "the professionals." They strung us along an entire day with the hope that someone was picking it up in Syracuse on their end. They wouldn't let me go get it for them. A day/night passed, still no call back from Kozy. The next day I placed three different calls to them and hours later, got a call back that they had the part and were coming to install it. Flabbergasted to be charged labor for the time to pick it up as well as more than doubling the cost of the part. Paid $131 for the part through them, and $187 an hour labor to the tune of $518. The guy rambled on about cost of gas, worker's compensation, trying to stay in business, etc. At the rate we were just charged, we feel totally scammed. FINAL STRAW: The dirtbag laid the dirty door to the hot water heater on clean clothes on my son's bed - and NEVER PUT THE TWO DOORS BACK on the hot water heater. (Wires hanging out - needs securing.) Received a quote for a new boiler from Kozy for $8500.00 in the summer of 2022, but had to wait 4 months because I had 2 other major expenses take precedent (roof & septic unfortunately, both failed all at the same time). I have had a wood burning stove for the 32 years I've lived in my house & the wood stove was clearly present when Kozy came out to quote my new boiler. I called back 4 months later & Kozy raised my price another $1000.00 (or now $9500.00) & blamed it on "COVID" of course. The boiler also included hot water (which now takes 5 minutes of running water to even begin to feel warm water & I told them, but they completely ignored me & NEVER addressed this issue to this day). I (foolishly) said "go for it" & agreed to get my new boiler installed for $9500.00 because I trusted Mike Kozy & office manager Mike D. The installation was done on 10/08/2022 with a 3 zone LAARS FT SERIES boiler (that has a 7 year warranty & the zone pumps have a 1 year warranty). The heat never worked in my main living area (98% of my house is heated by the zone that didn't operate); because the zone pump was obviously defective. On 02/03/2023 (Friday night); we went into a deep freeze & the temperature went down to 15 degrees below zero, my pipes froze & I had no heat in my main living area (other than my wood stove that I thank God that I have). I called Kozy Heating & their main Tech guy (BJ) came out at 11:00pm to inform me that I had frozen pipes. BJ stayed until 2:30am as we both attempted to defrost my frozen pipes with one electric heater & a blow dryer (both provided by me, as Kozy had nothing to help with the frozen pipes). At 2:30am on 02/04/2023; we both agreed that it's time to quit & BJ said he'll return later on in the day. I have 2 salamander propane heaters (thank God, because Kozy had no answer as to how to defrost the pipes so it was 100% on me to solve it). I fired both Salamander heaters all day Saturday, 02/04/23 & BJ showed up around 3:00pm. It was like 72 degrees inside my home now & the pipes were clearly defrosted. My heat was not yet restored on my (4 month old) boiler. BJ Said that I need a new zone pump & left. I called Mike Kozy & (after he blamed my wood stove for the frozen pipes); he called me "the boy that cried wolf" because "he has other people with frozen pipes". I explained that I have frozen pipes as well & no heat in my main living area either. On Sunday, 02/05/2023, I called & texted Mike Kozy, Mike D. & BJ & received zero response all day long (& STILL no heat). At 6:30pm on 02/05/2023, "Pat G." called me & said that he's planning on coming out to fix my heat tomorrow (3 days with no heat now). I thanked Pat G. Pat & BJ came out & it wound up being a faulty (4 month old), zone pump. I was told that it's my fault that my wood stove caused the pump to fail (even though I had the wood stove for now 32 years & NEVER had an issue with my prior boiler that ALSO had 3 zones). Beware of Kozy heating because it'll be your fault if anything goes wrong with a 4 month old boiler & don't expect any answers to frozen pipes, as it's on you 100% (warranty or not)! read more

Memorial day weekend, first spring/summer in our new house. Air conditioner does not run, and we have a sleepless night! Crawled out of bed in the morning and called the phone number that was listed (Kozy) on the furnace. Kozy was literally at our house within five minutes, with a fixed air conditioner in less than 30 minutes. Super friendly, super fast, and super helpful in giving us recommendations on how to optimize the use of our existing 20 year old air conditioner and 30 year old furnace. Mike (the owner of the company and someone with decades of HVAC experience, having learned from a father who also had decades of experience) was at our house within less than an hour of my calling about our furnace's dead blower motor. He was courteous, friendly, and--most important on a winter day--speedy with the replacement of the busted motor. It helps to have a shop in downtown Ithaca. All told it took less than 2 hours to complete the repair and the price was very reasonable. Very highly recommended. read more

We contacted Kozy heating and air-conditioning about our central air not working properly in the dead of heat when it was well over 95° out. We contacted them on Monday and gave them all the proper information and they said they can have the part in and delivered to them by Wednesday Thursday the latest it will be installed. Wednesday afternoon came we had a contact Koch about an update because they never gave us any update whatsoever throughout this entire process they told us they hadn't got the part yet but I was out for delivery and they were going to wait for it. Thursday came no update we tried to contact them and they ignored our phone call after we left a voicemail they responded with a text message telling us no they did not get the part but they would let us know when they have the motor so either they lied to us telling us that motor was out for delivery by UPS or they were stringing us all along. This company tried to price gouge us because the part that we needed to have installed was only $1000 and they were going to charge us close to $1600. I STRONGLY DO NOT recommend this company at all if anything these people are very shady. read more

Very difficult to get them to return phone calls to try to resolve issues with the furnace they installed or to complete a second step of installing an air source heat pump. When they did check the furnace after strange smells coming from it, they didn't do a heat test and simply disconnected a pan without fixing the issue. Avoid this company. I had really hoped to just work out the problem with them. read more

Never let them near your house. I asked them to move my Ac unit when they updated it, they left a hole in my house beneath the siding. Never sealed it, wasps have an open invitation into my basement. Never bothered to replace the insulation they moved, it's still sitting on top of my drop ceiling. I have little experience with Ac people, but this cob-job is worth a lawsuit. read more

Great job. Kozy installed a new high efficiency Carrier propane furnace in my home to replace a 20 y/o oil burning furnace that was damaged (inoperable) due to basement flooding from a summer flash flood. Kozy did the most thorough advance work to customize an estimate for me, and for insurance claim, that I have ever experienced as a homeowner. That's why I chose them -- they listened and took the time. But the most amazing thing they did was shifting the install schedule earlier because my elderly mother came to stay after evacuating FL for Hurricane Irma. We were having a an early September cold snap just then and I really needed heat! Kozy came through. Very helpful and responsive team: Don in sales, BJ tech, Steve install, Mike the owner, and others. They even fixed a sub-code issue with the vent from my water heater that was installed by a different contractor! Then they came back a couple of times after the install to answer concerns and fine tune the system. read more
