I have dark/Asian hair and loved how natural Kristen's blonde highlights looked on her clients (Check out her Instagram @kphaircolor !) I DMed her wondering if she could lighten my hair but still keep it natural-looking on someone with dark hair. She quickly replied that she actually has a handful of dark haired/Asian haired clients and was pretty confident we could achieve the look I wanted. She is currently based at Salon Lofts in River North and the vibe there is really modern and clean. I generally don't like having a forced conversation when I'm getting my hair done (Sometime I just want to be antisocial) but the conversation between Kristen and her assistant Blake flowed easily. They were both really great! Kristen had told me before my appointment that the cost would be around 400$ which is a bit hefty for me. But a lot of places continue to add costs to their base price when they add toner, deep conditioning etc. I liked that she was transparent from the start and her pricing includes everything. Plus, if you read the other reviews that many of her clients see her once or twice a year only because her color lasts and her technique allows hair to grow in nicely without touch ups! I'll have to update later if that's true for me. I love that it us obvious that I had done something to my hair (I hate when you pay a lot of money to look "natural" and it looks so natural that nobody notices a change) but didn't look fake against my skin tone and natural hair color. I recently saw a picture of myself from a birthday event and couldn't believe how dimensional my hair looked! If you're waivering on what to do, I would tell you to make an appointment now! No exaggeration, I look like I was born with this hair color. I'm always concerned with making sure whoever does my hair makes it look very natural and not icy looking. Kristen is amazing!! I've had some seriously traumatizing experiences trying to go blonde and she fixed all of that in just one session. Her process is so different from any other colorist and it comes out perfect each time - exactly what you would see and print out from Pinterest. My hair is naturally a dark, ashy brown and the way she colors it blonde looks so natural, even when it grows out. Kristen is one of the best colourists I have ever seen. I've had issues with bad colour before, and came to her very weary. She put my mind at ease and I felt in such good hands. I brought to her an inspiration picture, and she is the first stylist to get it spot on. The blonde colour she does, makes it looks so natural.
