What a darling place! We were looking for a place to eat that was heading towards Indianapolis and found this restaurant. Hubs is from Germany so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. This place is great. It's like being in a castle. The decor is mind boggling, and authentic. Feels so genuine in here and yes it reminded me of themed taverns in New York. We ate at the bar and were served by Jocelyn who was most amiable and helpful. She's been there 14 years and I learned the establishment is 2nd generation family owned, over 40 years in business. There are several small cozy dining rooms for larger groups, a main dining room, plus outdoor seating. The pork schnitzel was delectable, pounded thin, tender, right amount of breading, and the amazing schwine sauce on top which is apple cider vinegar based, perfect sweet/sour mix. Also on top comes bits of thick chewy bacon, and nice big slices of well cooked onion. It's a master dish. After I chose it, my husband ordered the same thing and we both loved the meal. The potato pancake is real German style, very dense but nicely seasoned. Add sour cream. They had 10 beers on tap and numerous bottled options. Full bar. Not a lot of wine choices but that is not a concern of mine. The atmosphere just screams BEER to me. Or, more accurately, BIER. I had a pint of Shiner Shandy which was cold and citrusy and perfect. So I've been to this place once before for my birthday and I think it was pretty good but it's been a couple years they're a little on the pricey side. So I decided since it was St Patty's Day instead of going out and possibly getting stuck in a crowd that I would do a pickup order for me and my boyfriend instead. I'll start off with the positives their website wasn't letting me order so I called and the gentleman that answered the phone was super nice took me a couple minutes to order but he was more than willing to wait and answered on my questions we had placed an order for sauerkraut balls a grilled chicken sandwich with a side of broccoli and beer cheese My boyfriend got a cowboy burger with fries when I drove to pick it up the place really is neat with all of their decor and the castle like look on the outside and staff inside when I picked up my food we're super nice Great ambience. Now the food I wasn't so happy about especially since I paid $50 which is a little pricey for me but the sauerkraut balls I was most excited about and something about them was just off I was like maybe a sauerkraut wasn't cooked enough was very stringy sauerkraut and then my chicken sandwich was okay the chicken piece was a nice size however It was kind of rubbery super thick but not a piece of chicken you could pull a piece like shred as an example I know it was around 7:30 when I ordered but even my fries didn't taste fresh maybe they needed a new batch of oil my broccoli was good and I asked my boyfriend how his burger was he said it was fine I don't like doing negative reviews but since I was craving that and they weren't super busy when I showed up and they're kind of pricey I felt I wanted to express my experience at least with the food. read more

Wait time: an hour and 15 minutes Atmosphere: it was a night that they had a concert going, so it was extremely busy, crowded, loud Service: our server was OK. It took another 25 minutes for someone to acknowledge that we were there but we were just happy to sat. I am not sure what happened that night if our server forgot to put our order in, she said that they were having issues in the kitchen and they were shortstaffed. It took an hour and 10 minutes to get our food. All of the tables around us had cleared and the place was empty when we were leaving. We were leaving through the bar area in the front and one of the guys that was sweeping the floor said real mean I'm sorry we are closed.. We said we just got finished eating. We have been here for three hours and a woman said sorry he thought you came in through the side door from listening to the band in the back. I am just writing off That rudeness up to It being a bad night for all of them. It just sucks because it takes us 45 minutes to get there and we always thought it was worth the drive. But this night, my 76 year-old mother had to drive home by herself because we met her there. And it was after 10:30 and I don't like her to drive in the dark. We had never had that problem before. First time visit to Kreimer's Beer Haus. It did not disappoint. Hearty German food and a charming atmosphere. The pork chops were a highlight of the meal. The double blackened pork chops were seasoned, tender, and cooked to perfection. Highly recommend. The Bavarian pork chop was also deserving. If you're looking for more of a sweet/savory bite, then I would suggest the Bavarian pork chop. However, the potato pancake was underwhelming. It lacked the crispness and the flavor I would have expected. It was kind of mushy. Just different and not for me. Overall, Kreimer's Beer Haus was good, especially if you're a fan of their hearty meats and nice outdoor area. Service was great. Our family were visiting Cincinnati for the weekend. It was our last day and we have yet to check off a German meal so we decided to stop by Kreimer's Bier Haus for lunch on our way back to Chicago. My husband, daughters, and I shared shared the Bavarian pork chop and mett and kraut. The Bavarian pork chop was a hefty portion with an inch-thick, bone-in, 14-ounce pork chop topped with melted Swiss cheese and scalloped apples. Normally I am not a fan of cooked apples but these were exceptional. The scalloped apples tenderized the pork chop and made it extra flavorful and juicy. Our girls gave it two thumbs up and cleared their plates! The mett and kraut had a grilled mettwurst on a bed of sauerkraut and was topped with sauteed onions and chopped bacon. Really can't go wrong with most German sausages and sauerkraut. This was solid. If I had to pinpoint one negative factor, I would have to say the restaurant's bathrooms are incredibly tiny. It's difficult when travelling with young children whom aren't independent enough to use the bathroom on their own. My wife and I took another couple to this restaurant for dinner and it wasn't up to par that day (Aug 17, 2024). At first the only time we could get a reservation was at 8pm. We arrived at 4pm to find the place about half full and we were seated right away. As I walked to our table I could see the entry way to the kitchen had steak fries laying all over the floor some smashed into floor. I ordered the Rueben sandwich and it was pretty good. My wife ordered the BBQ chicken. The chicken was so tough she couldn't cut it with a steak knife. I excused myself and went to the restroom and the steak fries were still on the floor and smashed more. Bathrooms were clean and clear up in the front of restaurant. I've never heard of Kreimer's until my Mr. mentioned he passed by this place a couple of times when he used to work in this area. This restaurant has been here since 1978 and I'll guarantee you will take pictures and appreciate the nostalgic decor. Mass German heritage from steins, medieval attire, cuckoo clocks and more. I couldn't stop looking around. It's fascinating! And super clean!!!! Their menu has so much to choose from. Starters, salads, seafood, burgers, pork, sides, a-la carte, hand cut steaks, kids, chicken and of course a German selection. Beers from domestic and drafts. They have wine and a full bar. My Mr and I dined in for lunch on a Saturday. They were steady and we were seated right away. We decided to do indoors since it was hot. We ordered: Warsteiner Pilsner (for my Mr) Schnitzel w/ bier cheese broccoli (for me) Reuben w/ bier cheese broccoli (my mr) We didn't have to wait too long. Our meals came out right away and I really enjoyed my schnitzel. The caramelized onions tasting so good with their signature sauce and paired well with the bacon crumbles on top. The potato pancake was amazing! Had great flavor! And last the bier cheese broccoli was perfect. My Mr. demolished his Rueben! That sandwich was huge! Plus his beer paired well with it. They have a river bar behind the building (super huge and plenty of seating), which overlooks the Great Miami River. They have 3 bars and a section where you can order food as well. More finger foods. They also have live bands that play on the weekends. What a great experience and worth checking out. Reasonable pricing and the service is excellent. Staff is super friendly. This is a fun, eclectic eatery right along the Miami River! It looks small when you walk in the front entrance, but it continues on through a maze of rooms. There is indoor & outdoor seating. A separate beer garden around back with live music on certain days. It's a fun, lively atmosphere! We went on Mothers Day, knowing it would be busier. It was, but the service was still great. The food came out hot & fresh. The pork chop was juicy & flavorful. The portion sizes are healthy for the price! Had a party of 14, couldn't be sat til everyone was there. The server took half the beer orders and never came back to the table to take more. Only gave half the table water. I had to go up and ask for more glasses. My aunt got her salad, no utensils in sight. The Mountain Dew wasn't carbonated. The server took 2 of the cups back over 20 minutes she came back with 1 straw. I had to go back to the bar to ask for another straw for my aunt. Server never asked if we needed refills on water when the cups were completely empty. Server asked if we needed anything else when we said more napkins she walked away and didn't come back til she collected the check. The majority of the checks were wrong with who ordered what. I'd been to Kreimer's a few times before as a beverage salesman and always thought it looked so unique and epic. Sadly, I never had the time to grab a lunch or dine in at all... Until later on when I decided to bring my lady because I knew she'd enjoy it for the ambiance alone. It looks so medieval and unlike anything else in or around Cincinnati. It certainly stands out on so many levels. My lady and I went on a Saturday for lunch. As soon as my lady saw the place, she was amazed, and this was before we even walked in the door. It was a little busy but nothing too bad. The place itself is like a beer garden pulled straight out of the German renaissance period. Their food menu is loaded with different German and American options, and of course, they have a very nice beer selection (especially draft). There's even a huge outdoor beer garden in the back that's right by the Great Miami River. I can imagine this area being very busy on weekend nights. The servers are all super friendly and willing to help if you need an opinion on what to get. After some menu perusal, my lady opted for the schnitzel with bier cheese broccoli, and I opted for a Reuben with bier cheese broccoli and a 16oz Warsteiner Pilsner (their beers come in 16oz, 24oz, and 36oz). We didn't wait long at all before everything was ready. My lady definitely enjoyed her schnitzel and commented on how the sauce and bacon went so well with it. My Reuben was unquestionably one of the best I'd had in a LONG time. The bier cheese broccoli was really good too. I could definitely see us coming back here, maybe later in the day when the outdoor beer garden is open. It may be about 30 minutes away from where live, but for a unique experience like this, it's truly worth the drive. I already like this place a LOT more than Hofbrauhaus. read more

Walking in, the atmosphere was beautiful--warm lighting, rustic decor, and a cozy, old-world charm to really set the scene. Service was friendly and attentive, and the beer was genuinely good. They clearly know how to pour a solid German brew. The food, though? Just okay. Nothing bad, nothing amazing--just okay. Flavors were fine but felt a little under-seasoned, like they were playing it safe. I had the Bavarian Chicken, which was cooked correctly, juicy enough but lacking anything that made it stand out. My wife had the schnitzel, also cooked correctly, crisp on the outside and tender inside, but again, nothing wow-worthy. Maybe I walked in expecting to be blown away and set the bar too high. I think if you are looking for a cool, quirky venue with a big outdoor patio and bar along a river on Cincinnati's north side, this is your place. And, they make a great hamburger! If you are going for authentic German food, this is probably not the place to choose. We were looking for German food. The restaurant has a cool and quirky layout with little rooms with tables. We sat in a larger back room sort of overlooking the giant patio. The patio had a big bar and a stage for live music (we were there on a Sunday early afternoon, so neither were in operation). Our server was super friendly and attentive. We ordered a pretzel to start. It was giant with a melted cheese sauce that reminded me of the Velveeta cheese sauce sometimes in nachos but without the spice. The pretzel was bready but not a chewy, dense pretzel. It's a preference thing: we like dense. Hubs ordered the schnitzel with potato pancake and apple sauce. The applesauce was good, the potato pancake was deep fried - the edges were over done and the inside was ok, per hubs. Schnitzel tastes pre-made and also tasted as if it were deep fried. On a more positive note, I had the burger which was cooked well, with cheese and mushrooms. Whole mushrooms! So you better like mushrooms, which I do. Fries were pretty good. All in all, we won't add this on the list of recommended German restaurants, but we would go back for a beer, a burger and some music. read more

I've been coming here for years and love the food. This time we rented the party room downstairs which came with two bartenders who helped us the entire night. I loved the lightning and vibe of the place. The steps going downstairs were stone and definitely gave a rustic vibe. Highly recommend the private room for events! read more

Kriemer's Bier Haus is a long-time favorite of ours, so it's unfortunate that this was our first visit in quite some time. Due to being tight on time, we ate at the bar during this visit, which was a first. Typically we dine indoors or outdoors in the patio area. Honestly, you cannot go wrong with either choice. The setting is beautiful, even romantic, and the staff is quite friendly. We started with Bourbon Glazed Meatballs, which were tangy and quite yummy. For my entree, I ordered the Bavarian Chicken with a side salad. My husband had the Schnitzel. The chicken was even better than I remembered! The combination of grilled chicken, cinnamon apples, and Swiss cheese is quite delicious. The chicken was so tender that I didn't need a knife to cut it! The Bavarian Chicken dish comes with a potato pancake that was perfectly seasoned. It was even more flavorful when topped with some of the cinnamon apples from the chicken. As much as I enjoyed my dish, I'm eager to return to try something new. A women sitting next to us ordered the Cod Fish Samdwich, which looked absolutely amazing -- and huge! We loved this place. We only waited 35 minutes without a reservation on a Saturday night to be seated. Not sure if that's lucky or what. The building inside and out is really cool. They have an awesome outdoor area too. Right on the river. We got the pickles & the fried sauerkraut balls for the appetizer. Pickles were okay. I'd say go with the meatballs or anything else instead. The fried balls were more delicious than they sound ;) Get them! My husband absolutely loved his pork chops. My father in law & I loved our Steak! The seasoning & doneness were perfect! My broccoli with cheese sauce was different but good. My sister loved her half rack of ribs. She did say her mashed potatoes were salty but she still ate some. I'd say you can't go wrong with anything here. We did wait for our food for an 1hr & 45 minutes so that was really long to wait but we didn't make it an issue. We have eaten at this restaurant for years, even when it was an authentic German restaurant they changed the menu years ago so I knew what we were in for. I got the Kaiser hamburger with sauerkraut cheese and a brought without a bun I was very disappointed. The hamburger was dry and tough not like what I had experienced in the past we arrived at 2:30 on Sunday and was seated very promptly. The waitress took our order and brought the drinks out at 3:30 we still had not gotten our food. The restaurant is very clean and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. I don't know how to explain it, but if the food was better, I would go back, but I am going to have to have second thoughts before I return. The prices have gone up substantially since the last time I was there, but that is to be expected even white castles through is gone up. read more

Pork chops were overdone, 2 of our 4 potato pancakes were so overdone they looked blackened and the chicken tenders were dry and overcooked. When asked for replacement on the potato pancakes waiter said the new ones would come out the same way. He brought us one potato pancake and it was better. Came here on a Tuesday evening and wasn't too crowded like it is in the weekends. Drinks were delivered promptly and order was taken but it did take quite awhile to get our food. The waitress apologized a few times so there might have been a back up. Typically it's not too long for food to arrive so we were empathetic. On to the food! So many choices in their menu and there are some nice options for those who do not prefer German fare. I ordered the grilled salmon and it was seasoned and cooked well. The cole slaw was one of the best I ever had. Previously I've ordered the pork chop and it's always juicy and the bbq sauce has a good flavor. Worst service ever! Waited 2 hours for our food and refills on drinks. We did sit outside and later the manager did tell us that they over booked our server and they don't usually have people sit outside. If that's the case, respectfully tell your customers that we don't have the staffing to open the outside. Simple as that. I rather be told that rather than having to find out while being "served." Upon entering you are in a very cramped hall that runs into the bar.. we stopped to get a drink while waiting on our table.. it was way so they were not real busy but still we had to wait. To be fair about this review I think they had an abbreviated menu because of covid. They did say they had prime rib that evening which would have been what I would have ordered if the waitress had not said it is all done medium well. Also this would probably be closer to 3.5 stars but not a 4. There was nothing really remarkable. We ordered the sauerkraut balls to share and there were mixed reviews at the table but I liked them. They were larger sauerkraut balls than I had seen at other restaurants. I ordered the ribeye along with hot slaw and broccoli. There were onion straws on top of the steak but they were not too crispy nor were they hot. The hot slaw was extremely vinegary but was good. My steak was cooked right. When everything gets back to normal if it ever does I may try it again as they have an outdoor space. read more
