Wayward Lane Brewing's Lifeblood looked like stout and tasted a bit like smoked bacon to me even though it was supposed to feature notes of toasted brown bread and caramelized sugar. My friend also had truffle ( mushroom) fries and a smash burger. He loved the meal. Dove & Deer is a pretty place. Attractive furniture and light fixtures. Big windows. The only thing that could be improved was a bit more salt and/or pepper on the home fries but I guess most people use the ketchup that's given, so I understand the under seasoning. The service was friendly albeit infrequent, and that's just fine. Water is left on the table for self-service and that's really why I need additional service attention anyway. There is always something vegetarian/vegan on the menu so I never have to worry. Brunch here is also a great idea, those house made biscuits are worth stopping in alone. Lost & Found really focuses on highlighting and supporting Albany/the Capital Region whether it's with their ingredients, drinks, or live music so I feel even better about supporting them. The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. The entire party was there momentarily and had to ask for our food order to be taken after 30 min- watching them, they had all staff making drinks but they said only one person was bartender. Simple drinks 3 mimosas and 3 bloody Mary's still a few mixed up(spicy, no olive, lots of olives). We all ordered risotto breakfast items. It took another half hour to get our meals we had to ask for the Sriracha drizzle which was described on the menu. Tea, breakfast bowl and the cheeseburger, risotto were excellent. The timing was off some people did not receive their dishes for a while so we had to start eating. We inform the waste staff we had a show to get to and Schenectady and still had to ask for the check. Bathrooms were clean ambience was pleasant. If I were to guess I would say the kitchen was not prepped and ready to go. Luckily, we got to our 1pm show but not much time to spare. So if you're not in a hurry and not too picky, I would definitely recommend their breakfast, the unique offerings of comfort, risotto bowls. I would prefer my egg to not be well done on top not sure what their protocol is, but we weren't asked.
