YES TO SANDWICH, not so much to pizza The pizza was just alright - both very plain and ordinary. The bbq chicken didn't have the cilantro on top which would have helped a bit. They didn't have the crème brûlée cheesecake which was a bust and the cheesecake they sent in its place wasn't great. The best part of the whole meal was the sandwich. The bachelor sandwich was delicious. The bread was perfection - I would absolutely order another sandwich from this place. Disclaimer: I ordered through Yelp which uses Grubhub. I definitely will NEVER do that again. I ordered through Yelp and in the delivery notes wrote that I was staying at a hotel and I would wait in the valet area for pick up. About 10 minutes before my delivery window I headed down and waited in the valet area watching the Yelp app for when the food was being delivered. I waited 45 minutes at the valet stand until the app said I should call Grubhub customer service. Grubhub said it looked like it was delivered but I would need to call Krisp to cancel. After speaking with them it was decided the food was delivered through a different entrance and left at the front desk - the front desk also didn't call our room to let us know it was there because my husband and kids were waiting in the room so obviously they would have answered/called me to tell me the food was there. Long story short the person delivered, tried to call me but I have an iPhone which now vets calls to prevent spam. The Grubhub person called but the number came in as an Ohio area code which it flagged as spam so I didn't have the opportunity to answer it. No voicemail was left and the app still said it was waiting to be delivered. I don't hold any grudges against Krisp/Grubhub/Yelp for that but I would never order through Yelp to use Grubhub - order through Krisp or a different app like DoorDash or something read more

Place is awful, I came here on a whim... wanted to try something new. I do delivery work, so Ive gotten just about everything there is to order in downtown SD. Anyway, ordered pickup, 2 subs & 6 garlic knots. I said I had a pick up order for my name, he said 1 min.. as he finished something else. Then asked what my order consists of, I told him. Then he requested I show him an order number or the receipt in order for him to give me my food. Spend $40 & get treated like a criminal. I showed him & expressed this was my 1st & last time ever ordering from there. He asked shocked, why. I explained, the statistical probability of me knowing the name, contents of the order etc... to still have to show proof of order, while my food gets cold. Id rather order elsewhere. He said they do that, even for their slices. Great, all the mlre reason to never come back. I literally have more experience in the food industry, not just downtown but from Oceanside to Alpine & no one is running their business this goofily. As for the food, food is good. So I first ventured to Krisp for the market which is loaded with all kinds of craft beers and other tasty beverages. If you're coming by for some food, check out the market for drinks and the freshly packed desserts. Pros: The sandwiches have been knockout almost every time. I highly recommend the "Let's get Roasted" with added Mozzarella. The giardinera here is super fresh and delicious and it MUST NOT be missed! The Bachelor, like an Italian sub, is also very tasty. Again, I highly highly recommend to add giardinera. Giardinera on everything! The sandwich bread is super bomb! It's reasonably priced. The sandos are long and usually filled with a good amount of meats and toppings. The "Hello Honey" date pizza has been amazing on occasion. They do have by the slice pizza options. Delivery through third party apps Cons: It's downtown so parking can be a pain. I recommend just finding a spot a couple blocks uptown and walking. The pizza crust can sometimes be ultra chewy..like, give your jaw a major workout chewy. And I'm specifically talking about the whole pizzas I've ordered, so it's not like they were sitting around like the slices. Overall the pizzas have been really inconsistent with the cook and with the toppings but we always hope for the best. Krisp Pizza is located inside Krisp liquor store in downtown SD. I had dinner here on a Friday night with a couple of friends back in February. Everyone was surprised that we decided to eat at a supermarket LOL. I got the bachelor and a couple slices of pizza, some chips, and a drink. My other friend got the bachelor as well, but one opted for a salad instead. I don't think they specialize in salads, so that was really nice of them to make her one. The salad had an abundance of meat, so she was very happy. The bachelor sandwich was a huge sandwich- it came with hot capicola, genoa salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, mustard, and Italian dressing on rustic Italian bread. I enjoyed this a lot and only ate half, since I also got pizza too. I liked that they reheated my slices of pizza! It was thin, crispy, and very flavorful. While were enjoying our dinner outside in the patio out front, I noticed that a lot of patrons grab sandwiches and/or pizza for takeout from here. The Yelp Elite event was located here this month and I was excited to see other Yelp Elite there and enjoy this businesses food and service. Parking was decent especially since it was a Monday and it was raining. I'm sure during lunch it's a little more chaotic but non the less you most likely would have to pay for parking. This is a really solid place to pick up a robust sandwich, a few slices of pizza or a serving of lasagna if you live or work in the downtown area. To be honest the tuna sandwich is something I would've never ordered myself but I took a few bites of his and I actually was a little envious... Thank goodness he shares! It has a lot of different veggies on it, slices of artichoke, roasted peppers, spicy pickles, celery and onion! Wow! The mayonnaise really perked up with those pickles. After getting our food we sat down in the little front patio area. The building across the street is getting constructed and I bet when it's done there will be some good people watching from that patio. My only drawback for the spot is that there is not a bathroom. That means there's not somewhere to wash your hands before you eat. Fortunately I carry hand sanitizer with me but I like to wash my hands before I eat food that I eat with my hands. It would be nice if they had a little dispenser at the front with hand wipes and then you can wipe your hands before you eat. Wow - one of the best sandwiches we've enjoyed in a while. But let me backtrack. Krisp Pizza is located inside Krisp liquor store in the heart of downtown San Diego off 7th Street. You can't miss it: the outside features a bright green facade and Krisp pizza is immediately on the left hand side upon entering. I've actually had their pizza in the past at a local event - it was fantastic with creative combinations of toppings. But the star of today's show and the exigence for me composing this review is a masterpiece known as "The Bachelor" sandwich. First off, the bread was exceptional - crunchy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside, which made for a fabulous mouth feel. Then the meat...the portions were INCREDIBLY generous (one sandwich could easily be split among two people or rationed for two meals). The flavor was outstanding: not too salty like other shops. While we waited for our sandwiches we roamed around Krisp and they have some pretty yummy foods you can purchase here. From drinks, desserts, pre-made lunches, etc. very convenient. I'm a sucker for desserts so I ended up getting two slices of cheesecake. Their creme brûlée cheesecake is FIRRRREEE. Must try. The tuna sandwich was delicious. The young dude at the register, the dude with the big beard working the pizza, and the heavier set, shorter guy working with him.. I asked them if the pizza has bacon on it, because I don't eat pork. They said no it does not. I got my pizza and as I was about to eat it, I see bacon. I kindly ask for a new slice, when I was given attitude, spoken to rudely, and wasn't even looked at.. when I thanked them kindly for replacing the pizza, which was their fault in the first place. Krisp is a cute liquor store and deli. It's located in downtown and has street parking, which was very difficult. I visited on a Monday evening and it took me 15 minutes to find parking, a block away. The deli employee was friendly and the service was quick. I had the veggie sandwich and thought the portion was large and the quality was good for the price. The deli prices are fair. My veggie sandwich was cut in half, so I can easily enjoy it for two meals. You can get food to go or you can enjoy people watching and use Krisp's outdoor seating. Given that it's downtown, and that parking was a pain, and that I had to hike up a hill to get to this place after parking, it was still one of the best experiences as an eatery! Eeeeek, so I came here for Elite Week in Feburary and loved Krisp and how it was a mini grocery store with a deli + pizzeria. But I decided to come again because I wanted to order a tuna sandwich for a social distancing picnic I was going on. And oh my god this place stressed me the hell out. I was able to phone in my sandwich order ahead of time but it was really annoying because apparently there are two different numbers for the deli/pizza counter and the store itself. I feel like there should be some sort of thing where when you call over the phone you dial 1 or 2 depending on who you need to reach. When I came in to pick up my sandwich the man working was wearing a mask but was not covering his nose when I initially walked in. The purpose of the mask is to cover BOTH your mouth AND nose, not one or the other or neither. He ended up covering his nose when he came to give me my sandwich but he should've been covering it in the first place. Like hello we are in a pandemic which is caused by a respiratory disease and last I checked, your nose is apart of your respiratory system. Additionally the man who was working at the deli/pizza counter was topping the pizzas with what looked like chopped up cilantro or basil (idk it was something green okay) without gloves on. Again we are in a pandemic, hygiene is really important right now. Don't make the same mistake I did and assume this is just a neighborhood liquor store. Inside is actually my favorite deli. With fresh ingredients including fresh bread made daily, their sandwiches are something special. My favorite is the Off the Hook. Let's be honest, tuna sandwiches are a little scary to order. But here, the tuna is fresh and mixed in with homemade giadiniera (I like mine hot), it is the best tuna sandwich I've ever had outside of my own home. Actually, it is better than the one I make at home. I also like the Florita made with turkey, fresh mozzarella, and homemade pesto. The market itself has some surprising fresh items like fruits and veggies, meats, dairy, and some homemade grab and go meals. And of course there is a great liquor selection. For me driving downtown isn't always ideal, so I'm glad to see I can order for delivery. Never knew about this place until now & I'm happy we were able to try it out. The sandwiches were surprisingly really good & big! It's big enough to share or eaten for two meals out of the day. When we walked into the store, we were greeted immediately. We walked around the store & I now know why it's open until midnight ;) They had so much alcohol selection! We tried out the Bachelor & The Beef.... so good! I had even asked if they were able to put Fresh Mozzarella into my roast beef sandwich & it made it even better especially with the arugula. The Bachelor was packed with so much flavor! Both sandwiches actually & the best part was at the end, I still felt light. I didn't feel heavy or greasy like other sandwiches can do sometimes. Don't let this place fool you. I had low expectations for their gluten free pizza, but decided to give it a try. Hands down the best gluten free crust I've had to date. They really nailed it here! The crust was the closest consistency I've had to regular crust. And the pizza was delicious. I walked around the store while I waited for the pizza and found a couple gluten free/paleo options to purchase. Their pricing seems good for a smaller store, just a few cents more than what the products would cost from whole foods. This is definitely a little gem downtown and if you are in the area you should stop by. They also have a large variety of wines. It is located downtown, but luckily I found parking right in front of the building (thanks to the parking Gods). I had the pleasure of speaking with the owner but I did not get his name. He told me a little history about the establishment and that they just added sandwiches to their menu about 6 months ago. I went with the Turkey sandwich with no mayo. The bread was made fresh and I loved the Italian dressing that was served on the sandwich. The only downfall that I had was that I wish it had more veggies and less turkey. It felt as though the meat was so present that I couldn't really taste anything else. I could totally see myself coming back here if I was in the area. This is a sandwich/pizza place in a grocery/liquor store downtown that also sells pre-packaged lunches (meat and potatoes; salad; etc) Convenient and delicious pickup for a sandwich--the bachelor is filled with Italian meats--your traditional Italian sandwich--Capicola Hot, Genoa Salami, Mortadella, Imported Ham, Provolone, Lettuce, Tomato, Onions, Mayo, Mustard, Salt & Pepper on Rustic Italian Bread that was toasted! I didn't really taste the Italian dressing if there was any. It was a good 12" sandwich and came with chips and drink for $9. That's a pretty good deal! Pizza by the slice ($3/each or $6 lunch special --2 slices and soda) is also available. We had pepperoni slice--it was good, not out of this world, but fine. We also saw lasagna for $9 (for next time)! The guys behind the counter were very nice to us and gave us service with a smile. A little sitting area is out in the front with bar stools, counter top, and plastic like glass mini wall for privacy/separation from the public. This place is located near Yoga One Studio and not too far away from the "Darth Vader" building (bank and also houses Thomas Jefferson School of Law) and Symphony Towers building. Yes, there is currently some construction right across the street but that's temporary. I can see this place being convenient for those who work (or live) downtown. read more
