We were referred from the hotel staff! The staff was correct this place was outstanding. Fantastic pizza. Next time we are in Downtown San Diego we will try another pizza. Really Good! Take-Away only.

(Fore)Arms length sandwich

BIG SANDWICH (4 stars) Okay, big sandwich, I see you! I was surprised to have enjoyed my fore.arms length sandwich at a random grocery store in downtown. LETS GET ROASTED - roast beef, arugula, giardiniera hot, on rustic Italian bread. You know where you bite into a sandwich and start nodding your head yes whole smacking down on your first bite with approval? That's how we was. First reaction, the size. Second reaction, the taste. Chips and soda topped it off. Until the next bite...

Located inside Krisp's grocery store! You order first then pay at the other register while the worker warms up your pizza. They have a deal for 2 pizzas and 1 drink for $8! There are a ton of options but we just wanted regular cheese. Super fast and convenient since we live a block away.

Hello Honey Pizza Dates, crushed red pepper, blue cheese, local mikolich family honey and mozzarella Interesting flavors. The honey and red pepper were perfect. Probably could have used some cashews or some meat or something. Glad I tried it, but not quite my taste.

ENORMOUS wings!

Can't say enough good things about this place. Food is delicious, portions are huge, prices are decent. I've ordered sandwiches, pizza and wings from here before and all of them are delicious and huge. This will definitely be my go-to.

The Beef with added giardinera...yessss... the bread is amazing!

Don't be fooled by the "in the market" pizza joint known as Krisp, they've got some killer sandwiches and an occasional dynamite pizza. Open during Covid. So I first ventured to Krisp for the market which is loaded with all kinds of craft beers and other tasty beverages. If you're coming by for some food, check out the market for drinks and the freshly packed desserts. Pros: The sandwiches have been knockout almost every time. I highly recommend the "Let's get Roasted" with added Mozzarella. The giardinera here is super fresh and delicious and it MUST NOT be missed! The Bachelor, like an Italian sub, is also very tasty. Again, I highly highly recommend to add giardinera. Giardinera on everything! The sandwich bread is super bomb! It's reasonably priced. The sandos are long and usually filled with a good amount of meats and toppings. The "Hello Honey" date pizza has been amazing on occasion. They do have by the slice pizza options. Delivery through third party apps Cons: It's downtown so parking can be a pain. I recommend just finding a spot a couple blocks uptown and walking. The pizza crust can sometimes be ultra chewy..like, give your jaw a major workout chewy. And I'm specifically talking about the whole pizzas I've ordered, so it's not like they were sitting around like the slices. Overall the pizzas have been really inconsistent with the cook and with the toppings but we always hope for the best. I can eat these sandwiches and a proper Hello Honey anyday so I'd bet you can too. Enjoy!

Slices of pizza

Krisp Pizza is located inside Krisp liquor store in downtown SD. I had dinner here on a Friday night with a couple of friends back in February. Everyone was surprised that we decided to eat at a supermarket LOL. I got the bachelor and a couple slices of pizza, some chips, and a drink. My other friend got the bachelor as well, but one opted for a salad instead. I don't think they specialize in salads, so that was really nice of them to make her one. The salad had an abundance of meat, so she was very happy. The bachelor sandwich was a huge sandwich- it came with hot capicola, genoa salami, mortadella, ham, provolone, lettuce, tomato, onions, mayo, mustard, and Italian dressing on rustic Italian bread. I enjoyed this a lot and only ate half, since I also got pizza too. I liked that they reheated my slices of pizza! It was thin, crispy, and very flavorful. While were enjoying our dinner outside in the patio out front, I noticed that a lot of patrons grab sandwiches and/or pizza for takeout from here. I guess we aren't the only ones grabbing food from a supermarket on a Friday night.

The Yelp Elite event was located here this month and I was excited to see other Yelp Elite there and enjoy this businesses food and service. Parking was decent especially since it was a Monday and it was raining. I'm sure during lunch it's a little more chaotic but non the less you most likely would have to pay for parking. Once arriving inside you see the patio area of the business where you can eat your food and people watch. Inside to the left you see the pizza and sandwich area. The glass shows all the different types of delicious pizzas that are freshly made daily and the employees are in the back greeting the customers with a smile! I asked the employees what sandwich was one of the best and they all agreed Off The Hook (the tuna sandwich) was one to order! I did just that! I also ordered a slice of pizza that was that dats special. It had jalapeños, red onion, pesto, mozzarella, and other ingredients! It all tasted amazing!!! I'm sure this place gets packed on the regular! So if you're in the mood for a little shopping, especially for drinks and want to try delicious pizza and sandwiches then this is the place for you! Will most likely come back when in the area!

This is a really solid place to pick up a robust sandwich, a few slices of pizza or a serving of lasagna if you live or work in the downtown area. Don't forget, Mondays they have a wing night special too! They've also got an attached liquor store where they are building a whiskey wall and a champagne wall and sell a lot of really high quality snacks, including a lot a crunchy mixes that they produce themselves. I had the bachelor sandwich that was generously portioned with really savory Italian cuts of meat. I especially liked the creamy vinaigrette style dressing on it. My fiancé had the Off the Hook Tuna sandwich. Both were served on fabulous rustic Italian style bread. To be honest the tuna sandwich is something I would've never ordered myself but I took a few bites of his and I actually was a little envious... Thank goodness he shares! It has a lot of different veggies on it, slices of artichoke, roasted peppers, spicy pickles, celery and onion! Wow! The mayonnaise really perked up with those pickles. After getting our food we sat down in the little front patio area. The building across the street is getting constructed and I bet when it's done there will be some good people watching from that patio. My only drawback for the spot is that there is not a bathroom. That means there's not somewhere to wash your hands before you eat. Fortunately I carry hand sanitizer with me but I like to wash my hands before I eat food that I eat with my hands. It would be nice if they had a little dispenser at the front with hand wipes and then you can wipe your hands before you eat. This is something that is generally a pet peeve of mine, but other than this I think my experience at Krisp was aces! My fiancé works downtown frequently so I'm glad we know about this spot. It's a great place to grab something quick and very reasonably priced, very satisfying menu.

Wow - one of the best sandwiches we've enjoyed in a while. But let me backtrack. Krisp Pizza is located inside Krisp liquor store in the heart of downtown San Diego off 7th Street. You can't miss it: the outside features a bright green facade and Krisp pizza is immediately on the left hand side upon entering. I've actually had their pizza in the past at a local event - it was fantastic with creative combinations of toppings. But the star of today's show and the exigence for me composing this review is a masterpiece known as "The Bachelor" sandwich. First off, the bread was exceptional - crunchy on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside, which made for a fabulous mouth feel. Then the meat...the portions were INCREDIBLY generous (one sandwich could easily be split among two people or rationed for two meals). The flavor was outstanding: not too salty like other shops. Finally, the accompanying toppings. There was crisp lettuce and red onions, combined with mustard and oil. Definitely worth checking out!

Their roast beef and tuna sandwich is delicious! Visited for the Yelp Elite event to grab lunch. Ordered myself the tuna sandwich and my guest ordered their roast beef sandwich. While we waited for our sandwiches we roamed around Krisp and they have some pretty yummy foods you can purchase here. From drinks, desserts, pre-made lunches, etc. very convenient. I'm a sucker for desserts so I ended up getting two slices of cheesecake. Their creme brûlée cheesecake is FIRRRREEE. Must try. The tuna sandwich was delicious. I love their bread and the tuna was perfectly seasoned. I have tried tuna sandwiches where there is too much mayo, this was not the case. I enjoyed it. I never eat roast beef but I took a bite of my guests sandwich, it was BOMB. The roast beef was delicious. Quality meat. And everything they put in the sub went well with the roast beef. Their bread is really good. Soft on the inside and crispy on the inside. I can eat the bread by itself! Loved how they have seating outside. It was nice eating our sandwiches and people watching.

Krisp is a bit of a hidden gem, I would never have guessed such a place was located here! I had the bachelor sandwich, which is basically a Italian, and it was quite tasty! This sandwich is quite a treat, the bread is so scrumptious, and the endless layers of Italian meats were almost more than my taste buds could handle! The pizza also looks quite good(another patron even mentioned it was the best in downtown as he was leaving), and you can grab a slice or have a whole pie made fresh. I'll definitely have to come.back for some! They also have a huge selection of craft beers, literally an entire row, along with tons of wine options, and even a whole back of one row dedicated to bitters!

I was a bit hesitant because I typically cook my noodles IN the sauce versus topping them with sauce but this meal did not disappoint. Both the meat in the ravioli and sauce were very flavorful. The garlic bread was typical but still really tasty. The waitress was nice and hospitable. The ambiance was nice. The restaurant is located in the back of what looks like a store in front. I appreciate a nice whole in the wall, mom & pop shop. I'd definitely return next time I'm in SD.

Pizza Wasn't the Only Thing Getting Fired Up Outside…read more We weren't even customers here, but after what I saw outside this place I definitely won't be one in the future. We were standing on the sidewalk near the red seating area in front of Filippi's Pizza Grotto for about ten minutes finishing a smoke. I had recently experienced a flare-up of a chronic illness, which significantly affected my well-being. During this episode,I had felt the need to smoke as a way to manage the heightened stress and discomfort caused by my condition. Right as we finished and were about to leave, a police car pulled up (it honestly looked like the officer was just stopping by to grab lunch). That's when an older lady employee from the restaurant suddenly came outside and said, "Do you mind moving down? The smoke is going into my restaurant." Fair request. We immediately responded respectfully with "Sorry miss," and started walking away to avoid any issue. But instead of leaving it there, she kept escalating the situation while they were already leaving, repeating things like "This is a family business, have some respect!" -- which didn't really make sense considering we had already apologized and were doing exactly what she asked. What made the whole thing feel strange was the timing. We had been standing there for around ten minutes already. If the smoke was truly bothering the restaurant, why wait until the exact moment a police car pulled up to come outside and confront us? From the outside, it honestly looked like the presence of the police suddenly gave her the confidence to make a scene and try to draw attention to us even though we were already complying. It appears she wanted to get us into legal trouble with her making it a bigger scene in front of the police. Another thing that didn't sit right with me was that we were the only Hispanics standing in the area at the time and the only people she chose to confront. I'm not saying that was the intention, but from a bystander's perspective it definitely didn't look great. Also, I'm still confused by the "this is a family restaurant" comment. What exactly does that mean in this situation? Are people who smoke not allowed to eat there? Because we weren't even customers at the moment we were simply standing on a public sidewalk and immediately moved when asked. If someone respectfully complies with your request, there's really no reason to continue escalating the situation or trying to involve the police by drawing attention to it. If this is how people are treated outside the restaurant, it doesn't exactly inspire confidence about how customers are treated inside. It appears that if you're Hispanic or a smoker you should steer clear of this place. I wouldn't be surprised if she has ICE on speed dial.

When we got there it was a 45 min wait so we sat at the bar. The bartender was very nice and helpful. The cider I got was ok but it was only $9 so I'm not complaining. Let's talk about food. I got the burrata pizza. This was my fault cause i was still expecting sauce but there was none. Which I kind of understand but for $19 I would have rather just got a burrata platter as like a dip. The dough was honestly amazing. Crust is very fluffy, closer to the center is extremely thin. Overall it was good and fresh but I wouldn't pay $19 for it again. Sister got the spicy salami. Again the dough was good. Sauce was good definitely a more savory red sauce. Salami was fs spicy, we love spice but this fs had a kick. Overall good I think it could have been great with a hot honey. Pizza is on the bigger side. There's only 4 slices but it's more like 8 regular slices. More than enough for one person. We both only had half and saved the rest for home. To wrap it up, the ambiance is good for a nice night out but the food is only ok for the price. Very fresh and good but I would rather spend less on a good pizza than more on a gourmet place. Would recommend for a nice date night or something like that.

We began…read morethe meal with the mini fried calzones with mozzarella and tomato sauce inside and they were great. You could tell the bread was super fresh and high quality so I would recommend it. Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.
