Bobby's Pizza was exactly what I was looking for. The slices are generously sized, delicious, and reasonably priced. I especially loved the thin, crispy crust. They also pop it back in the oven so it comes out hot, fresh, and perfectly crisp. We tried the Pepperoni and the Hot Honey (Pepperoni and Jalapeno) slices, and both were sooo good. I don't know what they do with the cheese, but it was honestly some of the best I've had on a pizza. It was rich, gooey, kinda spicy and incredibly satisfying. A couple of slices were more than enough to satisfy my pizza craving and keep me full and happy before heading over to the Padres game. As a local, I wanted to like this place because the pizza and prices are decent, but the service really needs improvement. I waited about 30 minutes for my pizza, and when I checked on my order after 20 minutes, the staff asked what I had ordered and suddenly seemed to panic. It honestly felt like my pizza may have been given to someone else because my order had been forgotten. Even after the wait, it still wasn't packaged and ready to go. I understand that many of the employees are teenagers, and everyone makes mistakes. My frustration isn't with their age--it's with the lack of attention to detail and customer service. The staff were joking around while orders were being missed, my time was wasted, and no one apologized or acknowledged the mistake. We discovered this place during the Pizza Wars a few weeks ago. I REALLY liked what they served - a super thin and crispy slice of cheese. So we wanted to go back and experience a whole pizza. We ordered a Rosa Grande Pepperoni Pie. The tomato sauce is has good flavor and the crust was tasty, too. The crust wasn't quite thin and crispy like the small slice sample we had at the pizza wars, but it was good. I'm not a fan of the pepperoni they offer, but the hubs seemed to have enjoyed it. I went to their website and it seems that they only offer three kinds of pie - you can get a whole pie or a slice. I'll be honest, unless we go for slices and I get the cheese then I'll likely not go back. Don't get me wrong, their sauce and crust WAS good. If you like a bit of kick in your pepperoni, this may be the place for you. It's not super spicey, I was probably turned off because I'm just uber white. :) You'll have to give them a try and decide for yourself. The guy that took our order was VERY nice and informative, keeping us posted on how long it would be. The bar lighting is adorable - I'm not a fan of taking food pics, but will DEFINITELY take a picture when I see something super ingenious like this! Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoors. Bobby's is a very small and unassuming shop near Petco Park. But even though it's small, these pizzas pack a punch and I really liked them! The cashier was super kind and nice walking is through the very concise menu. They only do 3 kinds of pizzas which made ordering really easy and simple. I loved each of the pies and would be happy to have any of them again (hot honey and cheese were my favorites). The dough and crust were nice and crispy and I honestly could not think of any other way to improve it. The crust was still airy and light too with a crunch. Staff was friendly and attentive. They even gave us a 15% locals discount for living across the street. I was a bit disappointed that they only had three types of pizza and not much else on the menu (a few salads and dessert), but it was good New York style! Bobbys just opened up in East Village and the fact that they sell pizza by the slice is a big plus in my opinion, as i don't know if another place in waking distance that does the same. The price is also great, and their slices are large. They are right across from the Padres stadium. I tried a slice of the hot honey pizza and really liked the flavor. To me it had just the right amount of sauce, and didn't overtake the pizza. It was just a tad spicy and not too sweet. My slice tasted fresh as well, and not like it had been sitting all day under the heat lamp, and the crust had a nice bit of crisp like i like it. I will say it did have a little grease on it, but honestly i think that's a bit standard for pepperoni pizza. They also made a great use of such a small space. They really refreshed the decor, and have a large TV to watch games. I'm not a Beer Drinker by any means but they do have them on tap if that's your thing. read more

I came here around 6 PM on a Wednesday evening. The space has a mix of tables, high tops, and a bar area, and you order at the counter. I ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza with jalapeños. I don't usually like spicy food or jalapeños, but it wasn't spicy at all. The flavor was excellent, and the crust was absolutely phenomenal. Thin, crispy, and cooked perfectly. There was a decent amount of grease on top so I used napkins to dab it off, but it didn't take away from how good it was. They sell pizza by the slice and currently offer three options: 1. Hot honey pepperoni 2. Pepperoni 3. Cheese Slices are $4.50, and they're huge so it's a great value. The only downside is the beer selection. They don't have much on tap or a craft beer menu. Bottles are available, but it's mostly standard options like Modelo and Heineken, with no local beers. My slice was heated up and ready in under two minutes, and they brought it straight to the table. The staff member who helped me was extremely friendly. Street parking only, but there was plenty available right outside when I went. That wouldn't be the case during games or nearby events. Overall, this place is a great deal. Super convenient if you just want a slice, located in a great part of town, very clean, fast service, and genuinely amazing pizza. read more

If you like your pizza heavily sauced, this is not the joint for you. They use minimal sauce and a lot of cheese. They don't skimp on pepperoni and I appreciated that the most. I've passed by this place many times and once heard a couple leaving say how good the food was and that they'd be coming back so I decided to try it the next night. I called ahead to order so I could pick it up and head home. I ordered two slices of the hot honey pie and the apple walnut salad. My order was pretty much ready when I got there, so a few minutes of paying and I was heading home only to arrive and find out there's pepperoni on the pizza, not specified on the menu. So back I went to return the slices and the staff was very friendly and more than happy to fix this. It took a few minutes to get the new slices (sans pepperoni) and I was on my way. Was it worth the extra obstacles? Yeah, it was amazing pizza. Excellent crust and crisp with fresh ingredients. I inhaled the two slices and the salad was also great. Amazing pizza, some of the absolute best I've had. Quality ingredients and skill is going into nicely balancing the flavors and texture. Breaking it down: The crust is legit. The longer ferment means more flavor, and the dough and quality of the cook leads to a perfect crisp in every bite (peek the undercarriage in the pic) while still having nice chew - that's what you wanna see, and it's difficult to achieve and difficult to find from other pizza joints. The kiss of char is nice to see, not too much, tastes great and helps ensure it's crispy. The crisp holds up in the pizza box too which is great if you're not eating there. The cheese is cooked well too - good quality ingredients = tastier, just the right amount of cheese so it's not soggy or floppy, a bit of browning for flavor, not too much splitting so it's not noticeably greasy. Good stuff. The tomato sauce is quite flavorful and has nice acidity too, and putting some sauce on top of the pizza tends to lead to a crisper bottom and more up-front flavor from the tomato sauce, both pluses in my book. Sadly, I didn't take any photos and I usually do! My husband and I stopped by here after the Kolohe Kai concert last night (9/20) and had the best time. We were convinced to come in by the bartender (I feel bad. I was a little tipsy so I'm not 100% sure of his name, but I think it was Jose) and they were even playing Kohole Kai music. Simple decor but baseball/Padres-centric and super clean! The bartender was so sweet, explained some history and ingredients of the pizza to us, and stayed open late to accommodate for after-concert guests. I've never been to NY, but the slice seemed true to NY style pizza I've seen--and it was only $4.50! I know it's new, but don't sleep on this place.
