Sharron G.

We discovered this place during the Pizza Wars a few weeks ago. I REALLY liked what they served - a super thin and crispy slice of cheese. So we wanted to go back and experience a whole pizza. We ordered a Rosa Grande Pepperoni Pie. The tomato sauce is has good flavor and the crust was tasty, too. The crust wasn't quite thin and crispy like the small slice sample we had at the pizza wars, but it was good. I'm not a fan of the pepperoni they offer, but the hubs seemed to have enjoyed it. I went to their website and it seems that they only offer three kinds of pie - you can get a whole pie or a slice. I'll be honest, unless we go for slices and I get the cheese then I'll likely not go back. Don't get me wrong, their sauce and crust WAS good. If you like a bit of kick in your pepperoni, this may be the place for you. It's not super spicey, I was probably turned off because I'm just uber white. :) You'll have to give them a try and decide for yourself. The guy that took our order was VERY nice and informative, keeping us posted on how long it would be. The bar lighting is adorable - I'm not a fan of taking food pics, but will DEFINITELY take a picture when I see something super ingenious like this! Plenty of indoor seating and some outdoors. I imagine whenever Petco Park is busy this place is, too, so be sure to time your visit. Thanks for reading my review!

Bobby's is a very small and unassuming shop near Petco Park. But even though it's small, these pizzas pack a punch and I really liked them! The cashier was super kind and nice walking is through the very concise menu. They only do 3 kinds of pizzas which made ordering really easy and simple. I loved each of the pies and would be happy to have any of them again (hot honey and cheese were my favorites). The dough and crust were nice and crispy and I honestly could not think of any other way to improve it. The crust was still airy and light too with a crunch. If you're looking for some seriously good NY-style pizza, you have to come check out Bobby's!

Walked into Bobby's pizza around 5:30pm on a Friday night. We were the only ones dining in for about 30-45 minutes or so. They have indoor and outdoor seating, plus a bar. Staff was friendly and attentive. They even gave us a 15% locals discount for living across the street. I was a bit disappointed that they only had three types of pizza and not much else on the menu (a few salads and dessert), but it was good New York style! We tried a slice of each (hot honey, pepperoni, and cheese). They gave us a free slice of cheese pizza since we were waiting a while for a new pie to be made. It is across from petco park / downtown, so it is street parking or a garage not far away. Would be a good spot to come grab a slice and a beer before or after a game or a quick lunch.

Bobbys just opened up in East Village and the fact that they sell pizza by the slice is a big plus in my opinion, as i don't know if another place in waking distance that does the same. The price is also great, and their slices are large. They are right across from the Padres stadium. I tried a slice of the hot honey pizza and really liked the flavor. To me it had just the right amount of sauce, and didn't overtake the pizza. It was just a tad spicy and not too sweet. My slice tasted fresh as well, and not like it had been sitting all day under the heat lamp, and the crust had a nice bit of crisp like i like it. I will say it did have a little grease on it, but honestly i think that's a bit standard for pepperoni pizza. They also made a great use of such a small space. They really refreshed the decor, and have a large TV to watch games. I'm not a Beer Drinker by any means but they do have them on tap if that's your thing.

The guys that work here are very kind and professional. They made a small mistake on my order and remade my pie immediately.

My pizza slice came out really fast. I ordered the Hot Honey pizza. All the staff members were friendly and prompt. This pizza joint is pretty spacious with plenty of seating. I dined in during lunch.

Hot Honey Pepperoni Slice ($4.50)

I came here around 6 PM on a Wednesday evening. The space has a mix of tables, high tops, and a bar area, and you order at the counter. I ordered the hot honey pepperoni pizza with jalapeños. I don't usually like spicy food or jalapeños, but it wasn't spicy at all. The flavor was excellent, and the crust was absolutely phenomenal. Thin, crispy, and cooked perfectly. There was a decent amount of grease on top so I used napkins to dab it off, but it didn't take away from how good it was. They sell pizza by the slice and currently offer three options: 1. Hot honey pepperoni 2. Pepperoni 3. Cheese Slices are $4.50, and they're huge so it's a great value. The only downside is the beer selection. They don't have much on tap or a craft beer menu. Bottles are available, but it's mostly standard options like Modelo and Heineken, with no local beers. My slice was heated up and ready in under two minutes, and they brought it straight to the table. The staff member who helped me was extremely friendly. Street parking only, but there was plenty available right outside when I went. That wouldn't be the case during games or nearby events. Overall, this place is a great deal. Super convenient if you just want a slice, located in a great part of town, very clean, fast service, and genuinely amazing pizza.

Dude, I've been waiting for a decent food option in/near my building. This is it !! The service is friendly and the aesthetics goes with baseball - hints the stadium across the street. I'm excited for this place. It's not doughy and the owner is cool. What I love the most is that they sell by the slices !! So you don't have to buy a whole pie for yourself. I would recommend and try again.

The redo without pepperoni

I've passed by this place many times and once heard a couple leaving say how good the food was and that they'd be coming back so I decided to try it the next night. I called ahead to order so I could pick it up and head home. I ordered two slices of the hot honey pie and the apple walnut salad. My order was pretty much ready when I got there, so a few minutes of paying and I was heading home only to arrive and find out there's pepperoni on the pizza, not specified on the menu. So back I went to return the slices and the staff was very friendly and more than happy to fix this. It took a few minutes to get the new slices (sans pepperoni) and I was on my way. Was it worth the extra obstacles? Yeah, it was amazing pizza. Excellent crust and crisp with fresh ingredients. I inhaled the two slices and the salad was also great. Just be sure to ask in advance what's on each pizza or salad to be sure since unfortunately the menu is incorrect online and in store.

The wait time was reasonable and it wasn't too crazy after 8 PM. They don't have very much parking in the lot but we got lucky and found a spot near the back. The hostess and servers were all very pleasant and accommodating. The food was served promptly which was appreciated since we didn't have lunch at the convention. My son ordered the eggplant parmigiana dinner which came with a side of cheese ravioli. He had nothing but positive things to say about it. My wife and I split a sausage and mushroom pizza. It came out piping hot with a nice thick layer of gooey cheese. Just the way I like it. It was very good but not quite as good as I remembered. Still, I consider it a very good pizza. Just not mind blowing. Filippi's has been around for a very long time and a trip to San Diego is never complete without a stop here. If you've never been, you have to try it at least once.

The spinach raviolis were excellent--flavorful, perfectly cooked, and definitely the highlight of my meal. Unfortunately, the veal was a major disappointment. It was extremely tough and difficult to cut and chew. I ended up leaving almost the entire entrée on my plate because I simply couldn't enjoy it. My husband and I both commented that it didn't have the tenderness or delicate texture we normally associate with veal. True veal should be tender, fine-grained, and easy to cut with a fork, but this was quite the opposite. Based on this experience, I would not order another meat entrée from this restaurant. It's unfortunate because the ravioli showed that the kitchen is capable of preparing excellent food. I hope the restaurant will review the quality of the meat it serves, as it made an otherwise pleasant visit very disappointing.

We were given waters very quickly. But then nothing for a long time. The server did show up and seemed as if we had bothered him in some way. But okay we will be polite and chalk it up to bad day. We order and then that is the last we see of him. I ordered linguine with clams, mussels, and shrimp while it was delicious I was not offered a plate or bowl for the shells. My partner was not offered cheese for his pasta. The manager was mulling about the host stand and looked right at us several times after I had finished my cocktail with no acknowledgement or offer for me to order another drink. So while the food was good the service defiantly left something to be desired. I will say that the server for the table next to us (Melanie/Melody?) seemed lovely and happy to be at work with her table.

We began…read morethe meal with the mini fried calzones with mozzarella and tomato sauce inside and they were great. You could tell the bread was super fresh and high quality so I would recommend it. Next, we got a glass of prosecco. I told the waiter that I only like wine that tastes much more sweet then bitter or strong and he made a perfect suggestion along with giving us a sampler of 3 different wines which was so generous. I got to try them all and pick the one I liked the most, but even the samples were a generous size. For main course I got one of the current options for the cheese wheel pasta they make in front of you in cacio e pepe and my husband got the formaggi pizza with truffle mushrooms. My husband absolutely loved his pizza and the crust was one of the best he's ever had. My pasta was fresh and had a ton of sauce and cream so they didn't skimp at all. I could tell easily that they use very high quality Parmesan because i'm a Parmesan connoisseur and could taste how potent it was. They let me have as much extra as I wanted on without limiting since I enjoy a lot on it which was also a plus in my book. Next time I would get a pasta that's a little lighter, because it was a more heavy dish and it tends to make me feel pretty full after which is totally a me thing, but they have so much on the menu to try that I'm sure I'll love whatever I get even more next time. Lastly, dessert. We got a regular tiramisu and it was absolutely amazing. They put a ton of cream which is exactly what I look for. It wasn't too espresso or cocoa strong and had a perfect ratio. The cream was so light and fluffy that we had to get another one to bring home and eat tomorrow night! I had seen a previous review on here about someone not liking the tiramisu here and it not meeting their expectations for a more upscale Italian place but I've been to quite a few authentic Italian gems and this one had tiramisu up there so I'd have to disagree and completely recommend! The service was impeccable. Every waiter was kind and prompt, constantly making sure we were taken care of and getting what we needed. The atmosphere was also a plus for us because we have a 1 year old baby and there was enough room where we weren't too cramped or crowded in, and it wasn't too loud or overstimulating. The place was very clean and taken care of as well as the bathrooms. All in all, I loved this place and I will be coming back. I would definitely recommend Monello for a nice little date night, and don't forget the tiramisu.

It was a Friday evening and every restaurant on the street was full and vibrant. You could Yelp these places all day long and it would be hard to choose. There's so many great restaurants around Little Italy. Mimmo's reached out and called us in. There were pretty white tablecloths, the hostess was smiling ready to answer any questions and of course, the menu looked wonderful. Voilà! We'd found our spot. Our waiter was so personable and had all the answers to our inquiries. He suggested items and even answered honestly when needed. I got a Le Pécora Nera Sangria (fizzy blackberry with lemon). Tasty, but too many blackberry seeds coming up the straw. I'd get another one next time. For the appetizers: RISOTTO ARANCINI (a MUST get) - these were absolutely delicious. Four good size bread crumbed fried balls of risotto sitting in the restaurant's own tomato gravy. HOMEMADE FOCACCIA WITH DIPPING OIL (yes, that's the official name) - this is a basket of super soft, warm focaccia bread for a great price. I would get it no matter what main course you're getting! It soaks up every sauce and it's just delicious. MAIN: BAKED LASAGNA (meat) - with the two appetizers this is the perfect size for both of us. No need to get one per person! It was absolutely wonderful. I would get it again. All in all, I'd definitely go back. The food was absolutely delicious and flavorful and the employees we came in contact with were great as well. We didn't want to sit at a table right next to the hundreds of people walking by, I don't like that, but there are plenty other options one row in or inside the restaurant. We said yes but that we wanted a Foccacia Bread table starter. She smiled and immediately went to put the order in. A few few minutes later she came back and we ordered our drinks for dinner: Raspberry Italian Soda, Orange Crush with Fresh Cream on top, and a non-alcoholic spritz. Our food was out within about 10 to 15 minutes and everything was prepared perfectly. I have to say that we really enjoyed dining in this location and we may need to come back here more instead of traveling to the Del Mar location sometimes. Our server was super customer service oriented and we appreciated her. She went above and beyond to get the orange crush drink to be unique like an Italian soda for my daughter.
