I've been here several times and enjoy using the app to get rewards. Today I went to try their new Kit Kat donuts (there looked like 3 varieties- regular, cookie, and brownie) and didn't get to choose the one I wanted :( I received one with the least amount of toppings. This has got to be one of the nicest experiences we've had at a Krispy Kreme location. Every staff member there was welcoming, friendly and helpful. We were driving through Iowa and decided to stop in on our way to visit our family. We're so glad we did! The place was clean, they were fully stocked with every winter donut flavor we wanted and even the bathrooms were clean! I wish we lived closer to this location because it would be our go to for sure! And the donuts were a hit btw! read more

Don't trust Google maps. They will tell you to turn after the Krispy Kreme. Saw Krispy Kreme connected to 1st base bar and grill off to the right. A Facebook ad offered a free dozen glazed when you sign up for rewards. I got the email for a free dozen and single donut was free. I had my sister also sign up and she got a free dozen too. I did buy 2 separate Kit Kat donuts to give them some business. The bathroom was clean. There are no Krispy Kremes in MN. Was in Iowa for spring revelry concert anyway. read more

There are donuts then there are DONUTS! The Des Moines area has two really tasty spots to pick up these jelly filled or creative concoctions . One of my two all time favorite jaunts is Krispy Kreme. As soon as the more popular ones roll out -- zap -- they are gone like the birthday cake which is full of crème and chocolate. Then there is the lemon filled -- one of my favorites. Of course, they are all good and the price is reasonable. Most of all the staff seems to have fun making them. If you need a quick pick you up -- one that might just lower your blood pressure due to the delightful chopping of pleasing your tummy -- then drive up then through as you pick your choice of flavors! read more

If I'm craving a donut I'll drive the 20 minutes down to Ankeny for these! So glad they opened this location! Not to mention the gas station next door always has great prices. I'm not a fan of this parking lot it's small and awkward so I always find myself waiting to pull in if it's busy, but donut wise- I couldn't love this place more! I grew up in MN so I'm making up for all the shut down Krispy Kreme's by visiting this place often! My favorite is chocolate or chocolate with sprinkles but when I'm bringing them to a social event I'll normally get a mixed dozen for about $12! read more

Terrible! Tasted old and had an after taste. Staff was rude and acted put out to wait on customers. An easy decision not to go back.

We drove 4 hours for this. Just awful. Only two kind of donuts available. That's it. No limited time flavors or anything.

I'm very disappointed. I called two months ahead to place a catering order with them. They told me they had it on the calendar and made promises for a discount off of my 30 doz order. I called 2 weeks later to insure my order was still on their calendar, it wasn't. So I had to schedule it again. I called two weeks later (now 1 month left until my wedding) and they said they didn't have it on the calendar and promised me it was on. Now there is 2 weeks left until my wedding. I call today and they say "sorry we don't do catering orders, here's a different locations number." I call the other location, am able to make the order. But it's now $100 more expensive all due to their lack of organization. I've worked at Chick-fil-A as a manager so I know how catering works. You need to work on a better system to ensure your customers order is taken care of. read more

I live two hours away. Ordered two dozen donuts two days ahead of time. I get there and they try to tell me my order hadn't gone through yet when one of the employees finally finds it. They were out of two kinds I wanted that I already paid for. Why they didn't make my two dozen donuts the morning my order was to be picked up is beyond me. I was not very pleased. Love Krispy Kreme donuts. I have their ap on my phone and it lets me know when they have donuts hot out of the grease. Melt in your mouth heaven on earth..That is the clive store..Ankeny store I was excited to hear was opening in my home town and could get them on weekends when not working is West Des Moines. Let down though. Nice staff and donuts are still decent..BUT. they are made in clive and brought to Ankeny. SOOO they never will be hot and ready in my home town. I get it. Save on costs on opening satellite store but still bummed. Microwave for 10 seconds helps to try and recreate the effect but not the same. read more

They had a special for buy a dozen donuts get a dozen glazed for $1. We arrived early in the day ~11 am ish, and they were already out, which we can understand. The bad part is that the employee was rude to us, had no clue when they were restocking donuts, and the customer service was just not there. Does not make one want to go back. read more

Krispy Kreme always has some tasty doughnuts! It had been awhile since I've had some, so I was excited to when they opened one in Ankeny. Finally made it here and got four doughnuts. Got a Kreme filled, probably my favorite, a raspberry jelly filled, also great, a chocolate glazed cake, good too, and a cinnamon apple filled, ok. The place is nice and new, pretty spacious on the inside. Didn't get any coffee or drinks, so this review is based on the doughnuts alone. The doughnut case had plenty of good options. The service was pretty good here too, people working here seemed to be having fun when I was here. read more

The donuts are great. But when I order a customized box, I expect the donuts I ordered. I ordered it in advance and paid, so they had plenty of time to make my order instead of giving the donuts I already claimed to drive thru customers. 5 out of 12 had to be replaced. Dysfunctional is one way to put it. There was 3 workers when the typical Krispy Kreme has 2 and the lobby was closed. The workers were rather rude and all 14 of my donuts were given to me in 4 bags to be smooshed rather than a box. Rather poor service for donuts that came out to about $1.50 a donut. Save your time there's much better options in Ankeny including most gas stations. read more

The new Carmel Doughnuts are supposed to be available until the 22nd, three days in a row I have been told they "don't have them today". Went to this Krispy Kreme at 9:30pm looking for a couple of dozens of original glazed donuts. I wasn't greeted at the door, and when someone finally did acknowledge me and my friends they told us the servers were down so they weren't sure what to do. They asked if we had cash or card, because card would not work. We had cash, but the server then said they wouldn't be able to take cash either. Confused, we stood there unsure if they were going to serve us or not. After standing around for what seemed like forever, another server approached us. She didn't say anything, so I said "The servers are down?" She said, "Yes... so I don't know how to do change." She then asked what we wanted, as she reached for a bag as if she was going to serve us. She then stopped, and just looked at me. I finally had to ask if I was going to be able to buy donuts today, and she kind of scrunched her face without saying anything - I still didn't even get a straight answer. I understand that system issues occur, and I absolutely understand that it might have been hard to figure out change, orders, etc., but we stood around like idiots because we weren't sure if we were going to be able to buy the simple donuts we came for. Maybe next time you should turn your open sign off or maybe have the decency to write a note and post it on the door to let people know. Funny how they close at 10pm.... read more

Just passing through the town and this place do not have much selections. They need more variety for a place that's open until 10pm. At Ankeny IA this is a rather terrible place to work. The doughnuts are good but the employee's behind the counter aren't treated like real people. I use to be an employee here for about 8 months or so and after been ignored, publicly humiliated in front of my co-workers, and the owner's dislike of convenient ideas to help run things smoothly, working here was a stress everyday. The owner doesn't work there often, or at least didn't, and so we employees would put things up like calendars to keep track of pre-orders and a more efficient inventory sheet to make our jobs more manageable. However, once the owner saw them they were taken down for no reason that we could understand. Right now the job can't keep their employee's because of problems with upper management. The employees were the best part of my job when I worked here. They were kind and considerate and when the owner would backlash at them I would do my best to defend them. Yet, in the end all the constant stress that was hounded on me from the top got too much. When I worked there about 8 employee's quit. After I quit 2 more that I know of followed me and as I keep in touch with my friends I had there, another one just put in their two weeks... read more
