We were able to snag the limited edition Harry Potter doughnuts, but they were hard to come by. You couldn't pre-order online, and when I called the store they said they only had a limited amount daily and it was first-come, first-serve. So we woke up at the crack of dawn to secure our doughnuts. There was a short line before the store opened but we got them! well gosh darn. the service is terrible, establishment is horrid environment as well. I walked in and the first thing they said was "have you ever had a krispy kreme?" And as i was about to respond, they cut me off to say "was it krispy?" I told her I've never had krispy kreme and was looking forward to trying it. The original Krispy Kreme location in lousiville just off bardstown road in what is essentially the very beginning or end (depends which way you look at it) of the popular and vibrant highlands neighborhood. This location has been here much longer than I can even imagine and is a very cool throw back in that you can watch them Make the donuts fresh in front of you through a clear plexus glass. I always enjoyed that as a kid and my kids enjoy that too. Open 24/7 and also has a drive thru however my preference is to dine in so I can see the donuts made and grab a chocolate milk or a hot chocolate and enjoy the devious donuts. Krispy Kreme is a personal preference. You either love them or hate them it seems. I personally love them. Very soft and flaky and great served hot, room temperature or frozen. Yes I said frozen. Don't knock it to you try it. It's a great trick if you grab a dozen and can't finish them. Put a glazed in the freezer to the next day. I purchased two dozen donuts for my wife because she loves Krispy Kreme. Most of the Donuts in one dozen box were all specialty-filled donuts. Unfortunately, seven of the 12 were not filled. When we cut a donut in half, you couldn't see filling on either side of the donut; so a quarter or less of the donut actually had filling. I called and spoke with a supervisor, who said, "Well that's not possible. We weigh all of our donuts and so for these to go on the shelf to be sold, they have to weigh properly." As I continued talking to her, she hung up on me. I called back and was given the number for Krispy Kreme corporate customer service. I will never make the mistake of buying anything from Krispy Kreme at 3000 Bardstown Road in Louisville ever again. I don't need to be treated rudely by a donut store manager, called a liar, hung up on, nor do I need to get a product that is substandard which a store does not stand behind. Mmm mmm good! How can you not love Krispy Kreme! This place has been around before I was born. They mastered the Doughnut. Its perfect! No matter what I order, its the best! We all have our favorites, and mine is the Blueberry. This doughnut is dipped in icing. A nice thick, creamy doughnut. I love the blueberry flavor as well. Went to this location at 8:00pm, not too crowded cases were nice and full. We had a coupon of course so we were debating how to mix it up. Noticed the young lady working there was doing her best to help an unruly customer with his selection for quite awhile. She would point and ask if it was the one he wanted he would say yes and he would yell at her and tell her that wasn't the one. He put her through this dance several times before calling her the B word, mind you with his daughter present. She kept her composure and her coworker stepped up. I promise you it took everything I had not to interject in this situation. She came back and smiled and shook it off. This spot is so hit or miss - you can go at midnight and have super hot donuts and a friendly order or you can go at 2pm and have cold, stale donuts! Luckily for me, I went last night around 9PM and had a great experience. They got my order correctly, we're very friendly and the donuts were fresh and delicious. Kids love a visit to Krispy Kreme because they can watch the doughnut making process through their glass window. As much as I love Krispy Kreme, the customer experience at the Bardstown Road location has been in a downward spiral for some time. Yesterday my wife and I went in to place an order for pickup today. The manager told us that he couldn't take a special order for the small amount we needed. He assured us that getting there between 6-8 AM while the line was running would ensure that they could fresh dip our special request. This morning when I arrived before 7AM I was told they didn't have the Strawberry Iced with Sprinkles. I mentioned the conversation yesterday and was met with blank stares. I purchased the majority of my order that they could fulfill and then drove in a monsoon to the Jeffersontown location. Once inside I found a cleaner location, nicer staff, and a very small doughnut line that was fully stocked. Moral of my story, if you need Krispy Kreme in Louisville avoid the Bardstown Road and I-264 location and head to J-Town. read more

I ordered delivery, not realizing that it would be delivered by a third party and not the restaurant. That's fine. After delivery fees and tip I end up paying $23.55 for a dozen normal donuts and two milks. Still ok, deliveries a convenience. Expected delivery was forty mins after I ordered. Delivery driver didn't arrive at store until five minutes after my estimated delivery but then waited at the store twenty additional minutes, so the order I placed with the store wasn't prepared although they were late picking up. They deliver a half hour after the estimate, which is fine - delivery is weird right now, but it is contactless delivery so they drop it off and leave. I grab it and immediately realize we don't have milk. Driver is gone and website said to contact store directly with issues. So I do. I let them know I didn't get milk and they must not have gotten many delivery orders because they knew what order I was talking about immediately, but bluntly told me they know the milk was in there because they "packed that order myself sooo.... I don't know what to tell you." Ok. That's cool, it's less than five dollars in a lesson learnt if you don't consider the extra cost for no convenience here. DoorDash couldn't do anything with it as they didn't process payment and store didn't care that it was wrong. I don't suggest ordering delivery to anyone else, and I won't be bothering with this at all again. We live closer to other Krispy Kreme's, but we're trying to stay in the house with the current guidelines. Will support other businesses instead. read more

I love this location because it's 24/7. You can get your donut fix anytime during the day! I always get a dozen random donuts, and regardless of what time it is they are pretty fresh. Don't get me wrong, not comparable to some of the small ma & pa shops around. I only use the drive thru so i don't know how it is inside. Almost one year later and things have not changed. Walked in to order a Pumpkin Latte and Pumpkin doughnut. I went to sit at a table but, most were dirty and had chocolate drips and crumbs. The product is amazing, especially if you go when they are still hot and fresh. The problem is how slow the staff is. I usually stop in for a few dozen to give to clients and if I go before 9:00a I can almost guarantee I will be waiting for 10 minutes or more. On a holiday...guaranteed 20 min+ wait.
