I love Krispy Kreme but this location is terrible and not worth the time. I placed an online order (don't bother) since I figured it would be ready to pick up by the time I got there from Cary. Nope. They hadn't even made an effort to put any donuts in a box. I waited in line behind everyone else anyways, so there was really no point in ordering online. The cashier was extremely rude and acted inconvenienced by me placing an online order. She wouldn't read the receipt I had but instead had me read out the order to her. Somehow she still managed to get the order wrong. There are donut places in the area with better tasting, more fresh donuts with employees that have at least a tiny bit of decency. Wowzers, where do I begin?!?!?! Krispy Kreme has been a part of my life since I was a baby. I have had celebrations with KK, cried with KK, and gone on drunk night binge eating with KK. KK has been with me through thick and thin, literally. The KK on Person street is my fave in particular because of the memories, and what is so great is that when I go to KK even now, it really hasn't changed. It looks like the same assembly line and machinery that they have had forever, and there is something about the "Hot" sign that sends my mouth into a salivating fit. My fam used to hop in the car and drive downtown Raleigh to go through the drive-thru to get a dozen doughnuts and we'd have them eaten on the way home. I wish I could say that practice doesn't happen now but when hubs and I visit, that has been known to still happen. Needless to say, I have to limit the amount of times per year that we go. KK doughnuts are NOT cakey like Dunkin, they are moist and melt in your mouth, especially when you get that hot box of a dozen, so hot that the bottom of the box can burn your hand if you leave it there too long.... OMG!! I may need a moment..... If you are in an area where there is a KK, definitely visit it and taste the KK goodness, but you HAVE to visit the Person Street KK. Whenever that Krispy Kreme Hot Now light is on, I can't resist going in for a donut. It's a good thing I don't live close to this Krispy Kreme, or else I might be a bit more overweight and my arteries might be a little more clogged. Needless to say, these donuts are delicious. Who doesn't love doughnuts? They're versatile--dessert for breakfast, dessert for a snack, dessert for after a meal. Krispy Kreme is famous for their hot and fresh doughnuts...which basically means they're warm and will melt into pure sugar in your mouth. Anyway, this Krispy Kreme location is the perfect doughnut shop. It's done in the traditional 1950's style and they almost always have hot doughnuts that you can buy (there's a light in the window that indicates if they are currently producing hot doughnuts). There are so many less actual Krispy Kreme locations now than there were 20 years ago, which makes this one a particular gem (I believe that they overexpanded, greatly cut back, and have a greater emphasis on selling in other places, like Harris Teeter). Plus the location is great! It's on the edge of Oakwood, within walking distance of downtown and Seaboard Station. The staff is friendly and it's often crowded (but not packed--just you'll be surprised that you're not the only one who is stopping by for a doughnut at 8:30 pm on a Monday). A hot and fresh doughnut is around $1 and they have discounts for dozens, etc. A warning though: Get the hot doughnuts or the other yeast-based. I'm always disappointed by Krispy Kreme's cake doughnuts (the flavor on the chocolate one tastes fake). But you should leave happy with a piping hot, fresh-off-the-line doughnut. read more

My husband and I stopped here last weekend after a concert on Friday night. It was around 11:30 pm, and mildly busy. We are used to Krispy Kreme as we have had it in other locations, including our hometown, so we know that the doughnuts are always delicious. However, we did not get to experience them this time. We went through the drive-thru where we placed an order for an assorted half dozen doughnuts. We were told that they were out of one type we wanted, so we asked for another. They did not have those either, so we asked for another. Again, they did not have those. On our fourth try, everything was a success. We ordered a coke and a diet coke, and pulled forward. At the window, the woman asked us to repeat our order, then proceeded to tell us that our three-time amended order included a doughnut which they were out of. We settled for a fifth kind, and then re-ordered our drinks. Turns out, they had diet coke, but not regular. I don't know how any of this makes sense, and it seems like they really had their C-team on that night. We decided to give up and just go down the street a bit to Cookout and get milkshakes. We were completely surprised that the service was this terrible at a Krispy Kreme. We have never had an experience like this at one of their locations before, so it was really disappointing and kind of earth-shattering (a bit dramatic, but doughnuts are super serious!). I must have had the same person Norma Z had on 9/11/2021, except this was the following day 9/12/2021....normally I would say someone was having a bad day, and I get that, but this was two days in a row. They had already closed down the dining room (if it was even open) and drive thru was the only thing available at 11:45am. Spent over 25 minutes in drive thru. Was ordering a mixed dozen special I had an email coupon for, she said that since I had a spiced pumpkin donut in the mix, coupon didn't apply. I told her and tried to show her my email that said a mixed dozen was covered by the coupon, but I recognized that the Pumpkin Spice Lover's Dozen was not covered, but I was just getting a mix. She said she would show me her email and she shut the window and ignored me. I'm done with this location. I have options near me, Duck Donuts, Baker's Dozen (way better than KK), and I'd even submit to Dunkin Donuts. I am impressed what can be accomplished with a renovation. Not about the donuts, which are still a great, guilty pleasure, but the store. Living in NC, one must appreciate Krispy Kreme as it has long been a source of local pride. That being said, I have never understood why there were so few of them in the Triangle area. Even in Seoul, South Korea there are three. You would think that Raleigh-Durham would kick it up. This location is fine and has more history than I can pretend to know, but the service here has always been pretty rocky. They regularly have one person manning the register and another helping people get donuts. This would work on a slow day, but it seems to be a very common thing. It took us twenty minutes to get through the line as the system just doesn't work. Still, they have great donuts. Just make sure to hit the drive-thru when you're there. read more
