We were a group of seven and selections were varied including hot honey brussels, she crab soup, clam chowder, oysters (raw), crab cocktail (served in a way that let you decide how to eat it), flounder, scallops & pork belly, and crab cakes. Dinner included the cutest (and delicious) corn bread muffins. The restaurant has a warm and intimate feel, with multiple levels. Service was friendly and attentive. It would be a great option for a date night or special event. Highly recommend and would go back if I'm ever in the area again.

It's Sunday evening very empty as I can see people are getting ready for the week. But hostess was polite when I told her I had reservation but am tad early and she even confirmed for one. The server was polite. She took my order of iced water and came out with a small corn muffin served with warm butter.the corn muffin is good not dry. The oyster Rockefeller came out. $17 for 6 oysters. There were only 2 plump oysters, rest were tiny and overcooked. I'd say 2 out of 5. Wish they made it more upscale by using grated Parmesan instead of packaged shredded cheese, it takes away from the upscale feel. The salmon with crab cake came out super salty. Def 2 out of 5.

Walking into The Twisted Crab feels like stepping into a place where the ocean said, "You know…read morewhat? Let's party." Buckets everywhere, bibs flying, and crab legs stacked like they're competing in a bodybuilding competition. I ordered a seafood bag that arrived looking like a surprise party thrown by Poseidon himself--steamy, spicy, and slightly threatening. When I opened it, a potato shot out like it was escaping captivity. Respect. The crab legs were fantastic. I cracked one open and felt like a triumphant Viking claiming victory over shellfish. The seasoning? Bold enough to make my lips tingle and my ancestors question my choices--but in a good way. The server checked on me just often enough to make sure I wasn't being strangled by a renegade shrimp, which I appreciated. They even gave me extra napkins without me asking, which is the seafood equivalent of true love. My only complaint--and why it's not five stars--is that by the end, I smelled exactly like the inside of the bag I ordered from. My car still thinks I'm transporting a small aquarium. But listen: if you want delicious seafood, a little chaos, and the chance to feel like a crustacean-conquering legend, The Twisted Crab is the spot. Four stars. Would absolutely return--with Febreze.

When we asked an employee walking by how long it would be before we could order, she asked who our server was. After we explained that no one had come to our table yet, she simply walked away without helping. Our waitress finally appeared around 5:50 PM, but before speaking to us, she served a table that had arrived about 10 minutes after we did. We weren't the only ones waiting either--the table seated before us was also still waiting to be served. Once we were finally able to place our order, the food came out quickly. We ordered 1 lb. of shrimp and 1 lb. of crab legs in garlic butter with mild spice. The food was flavorful, and there was more than enough for two people. I'd give the food an 8/10. The service, however, was disappointing. Our server was friendly when she interacted with us, but she was very slow and never checked on us during the meal. Overall, I'd rate the service a 3/10. Food: 8/10 Service: 3/10 Great seafood, but the lack of attention and long wait to even place an order made for a frustrating experience.

A staff told us that wait time came reach to 50 mins due to walk ins and online orders and all food is cooked to order with 2 chefs. I chose to stay because I already knew what I wanted and didn't want to spent time trying to find another restaurant in the area, especially with 2 kids. There is a small seating area. When we got to host stand to order, I was told that Grits and waffle cut off at 4pm daily... this upset me because I had looked at menu prior to coming and that's what I really wanted. Im visiting from out of state, so it's not easy to come back. I ordered at 4:17pm. We were seated after ordering. The process is interesting. Around 4:23pm, I saw another table get chicken and waffles and it just irritated me because that's what I wanted. Plus, I was very VERY hungry at this time. The menu really should indicate time cut off for food. Also, pasta doesn't get sold until 2pm. Kids shrimp came at 4:56 and kids chicken came a couple minutes later. Kids meal come with caprisun. Seafood platter (my meal) came at 5pm. The staff was friendly and the food was enjoyable, nonetheless. Service could've been better. I would return for the food.

The black building threw me off a bit and I drove past it at first. No parking lot and street parking is hit or miss; something to keep in mind if you or someone in your party has mobility issues. Once inside, I was expecting a carry out place, but they have a nicely set up dining area and even a bar. Ordering and pick up were efficient. I love the names of the entrees that rep Norfolk, like Ballentine, Berkly, Park Place, and Shoop Place. I tried the Salmon & Shrimp Cheesesteak and the Berkley Big Boy - a fish filet, 4 jumbo shrimp, 3 crab balls, lettuce, tomato, Sho'Tyme special sauce on a hoagie roll. The Berkley Big Boy is where the seafood preparation shined. The shrimp were indeed jumbo, needing multiple bites to take them down, the whiting was also fried nicely, and I was pleasantly surprised that the crab balls were delicious. I'm not a huge fan of the Sho'tyme sauce, but I can see why people like it. A little sweet for my taste. I expected more cheese in the cheesesteak. The shrimp were the best part, seasoned and cooked well, not over or under cooked. The bread on both sandwiches was disappointing and the most tasteless part, not soft or warm, dare I say, stale? The fries were just barely passable, frozen fries with a coating, and they weren't particularly hot or crispy. So this is a place where you just get seafood, no fries, no bread, or maybe the other sides are good. So yeah, Berkley Big Boy was the star. Next time I would try a platter or maybe the Crab cake, shrimp, and lobster BLT, because it's on a brioche bun and the fries are parmesan truffle. I hope they stay in business and keep improving. Service was fast, friendly, and impressively unfazed by the absolute chaos happening at our table. They've clearly seen things. Dark things. Crab things. Why four stars and not five? Because I smelled like Old Bay's unhinged cousin for the rest of the day, and my car now carries that scent as a memory. Also, the mess follows you home. Emotionally. Would I go back? Absolutely. Everything I had was but delicious. It was also a big mess, but I expected that. I was glad the potatoes were soft but still solid enough to maintain their shape. It would have been a bigger mess if the potatoes were too soft. I'm not sure why there was a police car parked outside but that was definitely a surprise. I think the officer was on the phone(?) with someone but it wasn't obvious so people seemed to keep pausing to figure out if he was speaking to them. When I got inside I saw a big group which seemed to be a bit annoyed because they couldn't get seated until the rest of their party arrived. I do understand restaurants wanting to seat the whole table at the same time but it did make the entrance/exit a bit crowded for everyone else. I didn't look around inside too much but did see empty tables. I approached the two people at the front desk about my pick-up order and they pointed me to a different pick-up desk (with two more people there). They had maybe ten bags of pick-up orders but were able to find mine quickly. I was pretty glad to get out of there quickly and enjoy our food at home.
