A few months ago, my wife and daughter visited this location and came home disappointed. They told me the service was poor and the food wasn't nearly as good as what we've experienced at Rubio's locations in Southern California. Since we've always enjoyed Rubio's in the past, I thought maybe they just caught them on a bad day. Recently, I saw an ad pop up on my phone for Rubio's and decided to give this Bakersfield location a try myself. I ordered two meals through the app and went inside to pick them up. When I walked in, I said hello to the cashier but didn't receive a greeting or acknowledgment. I explained that I was there to pick up an order for Charles. I was told it was coming right up. When the employee handed me the order, I said, "Thank you," but again received no acknowledgment, no "you're welcome," no "have a good evening," nothing. I hadn't even tried the food yet when writing this, so I'm not going to criticize the quality of the meal. This review is based on the customer-service experience. For me, customer service matters. A simple hello, thank you, or acknowledgment of a customer costs nothing, but it makes a big difference. What makes this more disappointing is that my wife and daughter had a very similar experience at this same location a few months ago. Based on the service alone, I would give this experience two stars or less. It's unfortunate because Rubio's used to be a place we associated with good food and good service. When members of the same family have poor experiences on two separate visits months apart, it starts to feel less like an isolated incident and more like something this location needs to address. I hope management takes a serious look at the customer-service side of the business because I would genuinely like to see this location improve.

I asked if we can have it bagged up for take out and Iris was very sweet and kind about it. It was really refreshing to see someone not get upset or defensive about extra work a little mistake caused. I really appreciated the customer service. When we got home, the order was accurate.
