I stopped in here on my way home since I was passing by. I was shocked how high the prices are here compared to other Krogers in Atlanta. Each item seemed like it was marked up 20%+ in comparison. I didn't want to buy many things here because of that. The produce was okay - many things were out of stock and other things, like the zucchini, felt like it would go bad in a couple days. I will say, I was pleasantly surprised with their sushi, though. It was $12 for the Chef Special 2 roll which came with a good amount of raw salmon and tuna. There was no line to check out so my visit was quick, although the parking lot does fill up even when it's not busy. read more

I don't think I've been in a Kroger this poor since the Northridge location back in 2016/2017 (which has since closed!). I was in the area and needed a few things. Since the Lindbergh Kroger is now closed, I figured this West Midtown/West Buckhead location would be comparable. WRONG. This Kroger feels dated and honestly a bit sketchy. No one was working the seafood department, the selection was pretty bad overall, yet oddly there were a few interesting finds--most of which were tossed in the closeout section. I was just looking for dishwasher soap and the only options were pods. No standard liquid detergent except for Kroger's own brand. Overall, the store just feels neglected. You really have to visit to understand. I wouldn't be shocked if Kroger eventually shuts this location down too, though I suspect they're trying to avoid the optics of another closure in Atlanta. At this point, it feels like Publix is the only one keeping us from becoming a full-on food desert. read more

"Kroger" is a store that's new to me, we don't have them in New York. I came here to grab some things for my room. I was surprised with how messy the store was. But they had a decent selection. I will definitely come here for all my tailgating needs. One thing I was surprised about was they are still using plastic bags and they are free. Went to the pharmacy and got my annual flu shots. I got a voucher rewards for groceries on the spot but I couldn't get the voucher to work. I encountered a female employee at the self check out and was trying to get some help from her. She appeared to be rude and didn't even bother to answer my questions. Said "I don't know" then walked away from me. I was literally in shock.Then I tried to go to staff check out to see if my voucher would work, that's when they tried to help me and had asked help from manager Justin. He patiently helped us solve the problem and we finally got the voucher redeemed. Id like to see this place thrive since it's so close to our house. I believe the right management can help this place get better and attract more customers. And thanks Justin for going above and beyond for us today. read more

Very amazing. It has all the convenient things I need but sometimes they don't have "Nature's Own" keto bread and one time they ran out of "Minute Maid" juice and I was very unhappy. The workers are nice and understanding and this is a good store. 4 stars. read more

This Kroger is halfway mark to my job. I tend to like to run errands on my way to work instead of after work. Yes I'm a weirdo. In the heavy traffic city of Atlanta I leave home extra extra early. Anyway I'd always take an Uber Pool to this area. Funny I've lived here 12 years and never went to this location before a month ago. This store is modeled after an older run down Kroger which is surprising considering the neighborhood. Currently they are in the middle of a remodel of the store. I'm glad because everything in it looks dated. I hate the word old. There is a crew there around the clock I believe who is working on transitioning the store. Every thing is everywhere but it doesn't stop me from shopping there. I get great deals here. Nice variety of stuff. Employees are always courteous. I just wish they didn't have self check out only early in the morning. An employee let me know there is one cashier up there but they have her working on putting back food. I like the fact that they always have motorized carts. I and the staff will be glad when the remodel is over though. lol read more

I've used this Kroger quite a few times. The parking lot is fairly easy to navigate and this Kroger never seems to be as crowded as other locations, probably because it's so close to Walmart. I've never had an issue here or a negative experience. This location has been remodeled within the past year and contains everything a Kroger should. The employees I've encountered have always been friendly and willing to help. I'll continue to use this Kroger whenever I'm on Howell Mill, no issues here! read more

This Kroger deserves more than 2.5 stars. Employees were nice and actually said hello when I walked the isles, they had the specific bread and chocolate milk I wanted, the deli chicken wasn't reasonably priced, and my overall experience was good. Some of the produce could have been rotated sooner, but overall would definitely shop here again. read more

I love Kroger and prefer it over publix due to the prices. This location is in the Howell Mill shopping area. Is it the newest, nicest and prettiest Kroger around? No. But it gets the job done. It could definitely use some updates and produce was low / didn't look fresh so that's obviously annoying. But nonetheless good experience. read more

Does this Kroger have a name? There's Disco Kroger, Murder Kroger, and Kosher Kroger in Atlanta to name a few. This one is where all the Techies shop at, so maybe it's Kro-geek (props to Nancy B. for proposing that nickname). I used to shop at this Kroger all the time and still come here periodically if it's convenient for me to stop by on my way home from work. This is not the nicest Kroger in the world. It's probably more deserving of two stars, but after shopping here many years, it's grown on me. It's always been a little dirty, particularly the parking lot. I once saw a rat running around in the produce section. That was the one and only time I've ever seen a rat running around inside a grocery store. Stuff like that doesn't really freak me out, but I know some people would flip out if they saw that. I remember seeing another shopper notice the rate scurry under one of the stalls and all he did was chuckle to himself and carry on. I told the cashier about the rat while I was checking out and she laughed as well and told me they knew and were taking care of it. This was years ago. Over the past year, they've completely renovated the produce section from top to bottom to give it a more clean and upscale feel. It almost resembles a Harris Teeter now. They've also replaced the old fast food Chinese takeout joint by extending their deli and offering more fresh and gourmet foods. In addition, this Kroger has a full service pharmacy. You can quickly pick up your prescriptions at the window outside. The floral section isn't bad either. Customer service-wise, I've never had any problems. I once bought fresh-bagged Kroger spinach that had a live ladybug inside. I called the 800 number on the back of the bag to report this and they comped me above the cost of the spinach. Another time, I accidentally left a bag of oranges at one of the self-checkout stations. I returned 15 minutes later to fetch them, but they were nowhere to be seen. The manager just let me grab another bag without questioning me. This Kroger is open 24/7, so that makes it convenient. However, certain sections of the store close late at night. This place gets a lot of traffic, but I have to say the cashiers do a good job of keeping the lines moving. Overall, I'd say this Kroger is A-OK and you can probably find what you're looking for. read more

I wanted to review and say tonight's grocery run was a pleasant surprise! Not only are they trying to revamp the place and all of the produce and meat looked really good, but more than that was the customer service. I saw everyone working to help each other out and jump in to help bag groceries or check out guests. Especially a shout out to Nathaniel who was doing two self check out lines by himself bagging everyone's groceries while smiling. I am glad this Kroger is upping their game! read more

THIS KROGER IS A PUBLIC HEALTH HAZARD? I only continue to go to this Kroger because I live in the neighborhood. Though I avoid it more often than ever. However, I see its slack behaviour and complete disregard for public health continues. Just bought cookie dough that I get home and see a sell by date of April 9th on it. It's April 21st! I've had previous problems with this Kroger with freezers being thawed and food refrozen. They are clearly a health hazard. I should have driven the extra mile and gone to Publix. Minus one star because this place is a little dirty at times and runs out of certain items when I need them. Good thing there's a Walmart nearby in case that happens. Stopped at this Kroger this evening to get two things. Lines at self check went halfway down the aisle, and lines at the manned registers were 3-4 carts deep. I got in line behind a guy who was helping his disabled grandmother (or mother) and had a toddler in another buggy. Kid was waving at me so I waved back. The dad flipped out and threatened me. Been here several times over the span of 3 years and they never have shopping carts available. You have to walk out to the parking lot to get one. The produce aisle is questionable b/c it doesn't feel cool enough more like humid. So I question the freshness. Try to buy as little as possible so you can be in and out at self checkout because they only have one or two cashiers open. Let me take that back the self checkout is longer than the cashier so either way you are going to be spending at least 15mins in line before checkout. Lines are go down the aisle to the meat section. My daughter is a student at Georgia Tech and I've taken her grocery shopping here before departing for home. It is a large store with a big selection. Unfortunately, it also did not look the cleanest and some of the staff seemed indifferent. The cashier was chatting with her supervisor while we were standing right there waiting to be checked out. After we finished and paid, she was all smiles, though. The lanes is the parking lot also seemed small. Almost got rear-ended by a driver who wasn't looking when backing out. If I lived nearby, I wouldn't be included to make this my regular grocery store. read more

Horrible grocery store! Aisles needing to be stocked. Produce is subpar, bruised and hardly any choices. No romaine lettuce! Spend lots of time here shopping and fill my cart. Then get to the check out and ZERO lanes open. So, now I'm an employee and have to ring and bag all my stuff. I don't have all day to spend my time shopping for my family and then have to check out all my stuff and bag it. If I had a few items, sure, but not a shipping cart full. I told the older woman standing around the check out area that it as ridiculous that there isn't at least 1 lane open to check people out and she sarcastically says there are only 2 of them in the store. I respond and say "2 employees working in the entire store today?" And she responds and says "2 cashiers". So, I'm thinking why isn't one ringing out people and the other monitoring the self check out? Manager needs to do better. If there are only 2 cashiers that were scheduled or that bothered to show up for work then the manager could check out the customers! This is why I always shop at Publix. Yes, you pay a little more but what you need is stocked and looks edible and you don't have to become an unpaid employee and check yourself out and bag. Never again Howell Mill Kroger. read more

This Kroger is unorganized. The labels aren't in the correct place under the items so we were tricked into buying an appliance that is more expensive than we thought. Granted it IS our fault for not paying close attention, but good stores would not make their customers have to put too much thought into shopping there by looking at the tiny print. Their self-checkout was also the most annoying one I've encountered so far. We needed an employee to enter codes in every so often. I would've preferred to just go through normal check out, but since it was 11pm, they closed all those lanes off. read more

Gets 3 stars just because when I live off BANKHEAD this was my Kroger store so I base the stars on my fond memories, and the fact that they are still open 24-hours. That was many years ago. Last nite, I went to Walmart that sorta share the shopping area with this Kroger and they were closed. I didn't realize they closed at midnight and I needed to pick up a few groceries, so I went into Kroger. I probably haven't been to this particular Kroger in six year at least. Time has not been kind. They didn't have 40% of the brands that I were looking for. I had a ton of coupons that I need to use before year end and some of them are for free items, so there was no way I was going to substitute the Kroger brand for a free national brand. I think someone told me that this is now the GA Tech Kroger, so maybe, thats the reason for all the generic brands, with those tuition cost, I'm sure those students just want a hearty meal and branding isn't that big of a deal to them. The guys stocking the shelves were helpful in helping me look for a few of the items, so and at 130am only the self-checkout is open, and the lady that was manning that station was friendly AND talkative. read more

Well I tried for the first time ever with ANY grocer ordering online, and picking up items at the store. With the virus on now for some time I wanted to keep down the number of times I have to enter a store. Here they will bring it out to your car which is a good thing. Problem is, its not working well. When you order online you have 3 pages of items to select. So this is less than 1% of the items in the store. OK, I can understand that. I figured just order some stuff mainly to see how it works for future use as this is going to be around for awhile. I order at noon on the 23rd of March. When done you select a pick up time slot in one hour intervals. The first available was late on March 26, over 3 days later. OK, Its not urgent. I selected 400p-500p, the earliest option on the 26th of March. With over 3 days I thought my order is fairly small, it should be easy to have it ready by then. Right????? Kroger has your email and phone and they could have called or texted but nothing. At 400p I decide just get in the car and go. Im pulling into the pick up numbered slot and the phone rings now that I am here already! The gal says my order isnt ready. I ask when will it be ready, the reply "I dont know". Not even a guestimate was made. No reason given why not ready. Its not like im ordering unique or odd items as the only things you can choose are random very common things. So I ask any idea when?? Again we dont know, maybe tonight. So I drive back home. The charge already went through on the order 3 days ago. At around 715pm I get a call. OK its ready. So I go back out. I wait for 2 other cars to get their order first. They take you in order of time you drive up. Then Im next. The gal comes out with these big sheets of paper and little register receipts. Several things were out. When you order you can check if out substitute a similar item YES or NO. I check no but they substitute anyway. Im looking through my stuff and find 2 containers of ice cream that isnt mine. I give that back to the gal. The paperwork is very confusing. Its nice that they offer this service, but you would think that the nations largest grocer could handle something like this but they are failing at it. There were 2 gals in there and I never noticed more than 3 pick up slots avail per hour when I bought online. With whats offered, your never going to see anyone with a huge order either. So whats the problem??? From watching and having done this now, I can tell the big problem is they list these items, but dont have a quantity in the computer so they let people buy all sorts of things and then they run out. This is insane. If you have ever sold anything you know DONT SELL MORE THAN YOU HAVE. So now they waste loads of time trying to find substitute items for all this. What they need to do is if they have 200 if this and 150 of that, set the website to sell no more than that. They also need to pack orders BEFORE your scheduled pick up. I ordered 3 1/2 days ear but evidently nobody makes up the orders ahead of time. This too is insane. Obviously they need to look at who is coming today for pick up and if they know they are NOT ready for you they need to call you ahead of time, not during your pick up time when you are already there. That is no help to the customer to find out there is no order ready once you drive up at your scheduled time. What is odd is the order is shown on your credit card statement when you order. It doesnt show pending. Its there. Then on pick up day it disappears!! They give you a slip showing suspended. Then the new adjusted charge for out items, etc goes in a few days later. They gal pointed out "you have a $5 credit for the inconvenience". I read the receipt. No I had a $5 credit for a buy 5 get $5 off promo. There is nothing given for inconvenience. So....I dont mind shopping myself.I prefer it. I just thought I would do this as I am all for avoiding others during this virus time. All it takes is to get too close to 1 person! However waiting over 3 days, not having your stuff available, having to go back, and then missing 1/2 of what your ordered because a huge retailer has a problem knowing how many to sell of each item is just too much of a problem to deal with. Im done with this! No more! If your looking to avoid crowds while the Corona epidemic is on try Aldi in Buckhead. They seldom have hardly anyone there. You can often be the only person in the aisle. Putting a store for bargain shoppers in a rich area was a mistake, but make that mistake your advantage by going there during the virus! Two stars for proximity (I live in the area.) two stars is being GENEROUS. Let me start by saying there are odd smells all through the store. Burning plastic in the deli. Urine near the juice (because it's near the restrooms?) and then there is the parking lot which is a nasal safari in itself. The cashiers are clueless and rude--they complain about how tired they are and how they want to go home while they are ringing you up. I feel bad for them because their job does suck and I'm sure they get paid pennies but it's also not hard to just--I dunno--not complain in front of customers? Save it for the break room. The baggers will damage your groceries, guaranteed. Don't bother with trying to ask them to keep cold items together in your special insulated bags--they'll throw a lone yogurt in every effing bag while your back is turned. You're better off doing self checkout. Make sure you allot 15 minutes to getting your receipt adjusted and money refunded from the 1-3 items that ring up the wrong price. I only go here bc I live nearby but honestly I'd rather go to glenwood or Lindbergh than deal with this place. I keep waiting for the department of health to condemn it. No luck. read more

I can't tell if it's because of all the GA Tech kids that shop here or just a general disregard for quality. Kudos to their Customer Care desk. This particular Kroger is pretty shady, much like its cousin on Ponce. I don't really get why it is though, when right nearby you have a nicer Walmart and a bit higher all those restaurants. The staff isn't exactly helpful either, and half the time when I ask where something is, they're pretty clueless and go looking for it as if they were just another customer. Besides that, I really hate their organization of canned food, ESPECIALLY how apparently black beans are Mexican food? Uh no, pretty sure they should go in the beans or vegetables section. So confusing, maybe a bit offensive but not really. They also often do this thing where they put goods that are about to expire or have already been separated from their packages (such as beer from 6packs) and try to sell them right in front of the cash registers for a (slightly) cheaper price. Wow. The only good part about it, and the sole reason why I come here and not the Walmart next door, is its store hours, namely, the fact that it's open 24/7. Of course they're both (practically) equally cheap, but Walmart is clean and has much more helpful people, unlike Kroger. read more

This Kroger seems to have gotten worse after being remodeled over the past couple of years. I kept expecting the interior to be upgraded, but it looks unfinished, and reminds me of a discount warehouse. Entry to the store is very awkward, and for its size, the aisles are surprisingly difficult to navigate, especially when going around a corner, because visibility beyond the shelves is so bad I sometimes nearly run into another shopper. The one physical improvement has been to the shopping center's parking lot, which used to be a mess, but is much better. As others have said, Howell Mill's Kroger product selection should be much better, considering the size. They actually removed a couple of popular products (certain brands of wine and coffee) that are my favorites, so now I shop at Publix, where they're still available. read more

Firstly, I'm a grocery store snob. I really only enjoy shopping at Trader Joe's and dain to shop at Kroger & Publix when I'm desperate. In this case, I had to pick a prescription here last night and my office gave us a $25 gift card that I didn't want to waste. That said, I will NEVER buy food from here again. I picked up a ball of mozzarella cheese and there was a patch of mold about the size of a dime on it. Seriously?! If they allow that sort of thing to happen, who knows what's going on with the rest of the food. The only reason they get two stars instead of one is the pharmacy staff. The guy working last night patiently dealt with my insurance company when they claimed I didn't have active coverage. He sorted it all out for me, which I appreciated.
