This Kroger has stepped up its game since the recent opening of the Super Walmart across the street, and is no longer the same sketch Kroger that my friends and I used to run to at 3 AM when we got our late night junk food cravings for cartons of cookie and crme and boxes of stale day old krispy kremes. Now this place has a huge selection of fresh organic fruits and veggies and a wider array of bakery goods. It's a pretty good size too for a neighborhood grocery store, probably because it's been there longer than any of the other alternatives - it is old, and does show signs of wear in a yellowish hue. Best reason to go here - open 24 hours! Next best reason to go here - you don't have to search or wind through a parking deck to get your milk, outdoor old fashion parking lots with tons of spaces! read more

This Kroger is gross. I'm a die hard Kroger shopper but I'll go to the publix down the street or even the wal-mart next door before I go here. The quality of the food at this one is dreadful and the store is just downright dirty. The produce is awful and there's no way I would purchase meat from here. I shopped here once or twice and never went back. Dirty, rude staff who dont have a clue who customers are or what a dress code is, and always sold out of regular items. With competition in the area increasing I would not be surprised if this place closed soon. This place is a frequent for Tech students. But due to its location at the lower end of Howell Mill where the road begins to become more industrial, it attracts the wrong sort of crowd that make shopping here scary and fearful. This Kroger seems to have gotten worse after being remodeled over the past couple of years. I kept expecting the interior to be upgraded, but it looks unfinished, and reminds me of a discount warehouse. Entry to the store is very awkward, and for its size, the aisles are surprisingly difficult to navigate, especially when going around a corner, because visibility beyond the shelves is so bad I sometimes nearly run into another shopper. The one physical improvement has been to the shopping center's parking lot, which used to be a mess, but is much better. As others have said, Howell Mill's Kroger product selection should be much better, considering the size. They actually removed a couple of popular products (certain brands of wine and coffee) that are my favorites, so now I shop at Publix, where they're still available. read more

As far as Kroger stores in Atlanta go, this one isn't the worst, but it's no five stars by any means. I like the location, but it definitely needs better employees. I don't understand how it's always seems grimy and the cashiers act WAY busier than they are. And one night while on a late run for some necessities, I got to wittness an employee treating who I assumed was a manager with complete disrespect when she told him to do something. The worst Kroger ever!! Every single time I do an online order they always canceled it due to out of stock items I go inside to check and they do have the items IN STOCK. The sad thing was that I spoke to the manager hoping she was going to resolved the problem but she was even worst with her attitude. I will agree with what others have said , it is quite possibly the worst Kroger I have ever shopped in and have been shopping at Kroger for years . The staff , the only thing you ever hear them talking about is "My Break" . If you have a question you've got a fifty fifty shot at having it answered for some reason the staff here gives you a strange blank stare when asking for information . My family and myself shop at this Kroger location regularly and I really like it! It's clean, has variety, and overall has attentive and friendly staff! I can't even count on my fingers how many times I have been checked out by or assisted by a manger. This doesn't happen at other stores often. At other stores the manager seem to hide and avoid customers, but not here :) I mean, what location announces it's shining employees over the loud speaker? And they deserve it! They are also very kid-friendly. At the check out counter when I am a hot mess juggling my toddler and the grocery list, the checkout person is so sweet and accomidating. They also hand out cute stickers. Makes my son's day :) Overall this location has a lot of variety amongst the brands it carries. The wine dept is overflowing. The meat selections. I love the wide variety of international products it has. (Particularly the Italian section! Woo!) The only qualms I have with this location are 1) They don't carry the newest Bolthouse Farms products. 2) Seems to continuously has holes in its diaper aisle. 3) Seafood is priced higher than other Kroger locations it seems :( All and all, love this location. We've been going to this Kroger for 9 years. It used to be pretty low level but it has gotten a lot better over the last 12 to 18 months. Much cleaner and the inside looks a lot nicer. Props to whoever prepares the sugar cookies today. Probably the best I've ever had. read more

This Kroger is practically in my backyard so I have shopped there for almost exclusively for the last 3 years. I prefer Kroger anyway (can't stand Publix and Whole Foods is wallet-rape) and while I have been in others that are more aesthetically pleasing, the prices are always better at this location. The staff is rather amazing as well. Some of the nicest and most helpful I have ever encountered anywhere. A couple of them actually remember my name. No kidding. Oh and another reviewer mentioned that the manager works check-out often and that is absolutely true. With that kind of service, it feels more like a neighborhood store than a chain one. This store is situated between a huge Walmart (as if there is a small Walmart - ha) and not far from a Publix so I think it might often get overlooked. That is a plus for me. The lines are never too long and the markdowns are truly better than other locations. I guess there are some selection drawbacks like maybe toiletries and perhaps some produce (although nothing comes to mind) but if you like beer, whoa. You are in for a treat. Huge beer selection including a TON of single bottles and unique brands. The wine section is large. I haven't spent much time in it but it takes up a lot of space. Hopefully it is filled with good stuff. I will say I am not a huge fan of the pharmacy. I don't like the fact that they close early on weekends and they have never been overly friendly. I don't have a whole bunch to say about this Kroger. I stopped here because it's on the way home from Costco by Cumberland Mall. It was a rainy Saturday, so the store was not very busy. It did the job. I found the store to be neat and almost everything was as it should be. I did see a very old and moldy ham in the meat section and I hate that with a passion. Why can't they remove old shit? At all Kroger stores, I check and double check expiration dates because I have found this same type of slack at several of them. It is one of the reasons that Publix will out do them in the grocery store race everytime even though their (Kroger's) prices are lower. This store seems smaller than most Kroger stores I've visited. Parking is ample as it is located in a strip mall. In my opinion, Kroger messed up when they replaced Bank of America with Best Bank in their stores and when they stopped doubling coupons. Yes, I will clip a coupon or two. Ya. Anyway, this would not be my grocery store of preference, but it can be convenient at times. For this, Kroger gets a big ole three starred A-OK. I'm a morning shopper and let me tell you how UNPROFESSIONAL Produce and BOTHERED Customer Service are because you're looking for items that you can't find in the store. One incident I was looking for a specific grain that i could not find on the shelf. I walk up to self check out and asked if they had an inventory system to look up the missing item, the nice young lady didn't know so she said "Maybe Customer Service will know." We head over to Customer Service asked the same question only to get an answer of "Whatchu need that for? We ain't got that!" With wide opened eyes like we just bothered her from doing nothing. So i left disgusted ok i'll give you a pass. PRODUCE - one morning some employee was literally yelling and cussing her other employees out because something was not put up...second incident i asked produce to see if they knew about wild mushrooms and if they had them in another spot. Her response was with an wide eyed looking face like i'm bothering her saying "those are the mushrooms right there!" And kept packing stuff up. You should teach your employees about NEUTRAL TONES talking to the customers so we can come in there wanting to buy your products and not feeling UNWELCOMED. read more

I go here occasionally, my normal Kroger is at Edgewood. Was very impressed when the bagger brought out a forgotten sack of groceries - probably the most important bag cause it had the jelly beans for the office! I wasn't parked near the store due to a previous errand. He found me and delivered the bag. As far as the earlier comments about it being dirty, it's more old than dirty. You can't make old look new which then people think it looks dirty. A previous review (Nancy you know who you are) made a fairly racist comment. If you don't like the shoppers here go to Buckhead or Cobb County! In fact maybe you should move there! I've never had a problem shopping in this store. read more

Very unprofessional service, I really should have gone to a self checkout kiosk for better treatment. The cashier didn't greet us or ask for a plus card, and carried on his "basketball game" conversation with the bagger who was "teaching" him how to shoot a ball as he waved his arms in the air. Never once making eye contact with us or asking if we needed help out to the car. Now my partner tried to give them some credit by saying focusing on their ages, but KROGER needs to make sure ALL of their employees are trained and exhibiting the highest level of customer service possible. I come her quite often. The store is aged and not a pretty as the other stores near by. It's 24 hours so it comes in handy. It's never really noticeably clean. Not a bad thing necessarily. I like to buy Asian groceries and that selection is limited compared to other Kroger's or Publix stores. Check out is usually very quick and the staff are always pleasant. I don't feel unsafe parking because the plaza is generally busy at all hours. I like the store, but I do wish they offered more products in the Asian section. read more

I only keep coming to this location because it's the closest to me. Bought a box of flax seed meal from the bulk and raw nuts section and it had a bug in it. Check the expiry date on everything!!! Happened to me more than once that I bought something that was already expired. Last time I was there early afternoon on a Saturday, it was pretty busy and they had 1(!!) register open. I have been recently getting my groceries from this Kroger and almost every time the bread and salad mix I have bought has been old. The date is fine, but the bread will have a strong moldy smell and the salads smell sour. My roommate also has been complaining of the same thing. We have thrown away so much food these past 3 or so weeks. I thought maybe it was just a once in a while thing, but this has happened several times. I do not think they are properly handling the food. I usually love Kroger, but not this one. read more

Quite possibly the worst Kroger is the whole city of Atlanta. The selection of everything is subpar, the store always has this dirty feel about it, and they don't even sell tampons!!!! Just moved into the neighborhood and this is the most disgusting Kroger I have ever been in. It is filthy from top to bottom, including the parking lot and grocery shelves. I've been going here weekly for about a year and a half I guess, almost exclusively late at night. I use to believe Walmart was cheaper, but after comparing their prices, I know that's not the case, they're about the same in fact. They have decent sales on things, the people working there are helpful, to a point anyway. I would say WATCH OUT on sales, make sure things ring up what you're expecting. I've gotten home a couple times to find I paid not the sales price, but the regular price. Since then I started checking, and about once a month I still have to call someone over to do a price check because the item rings up for the regular price, not the sales price. When they find this they correct it, no problem. I work nights, and so I stop here around 4-5am because Walmart isn't 24 hours. Why isn't Walmart 24 hours? I would assume because if you get on the local crime report email list you will see that someone is arrested for stealing from that store about once a day. read more

This is located right down the street from my house. I enjoy the low cheap prices and deal save they have but sometimes they are out of stock of certain produces and baggies for it so I would just go down the street to Publix for it. BUT they do not have many international food compare to other Krogers. The pharmacy however SUCKS. The new women pharmacist is horrible and pretend to click around the computer to make herself seem busy so she won't help you. This Kroger is OK by me (as far as Krogers go... I do prefer the publix up the street). Do the baggers have the occasional inappropriate conversation while you're checking out? Yes, will you possibly stumble in as the police are showing up because the bank was just robbed? Sure, but overall, the store is nice. I can go here & find things that I search high & low for in other places. They have a small organic section where you can find things like almond butter, coconut oil, Braggs ACV, locally produced honey, etc. The new changes that have been made are very nice. The bright side is the laughing of people in line about how bad it is. Many of the employees are trying to do a good job, but management seems to not care. I have shopped there for years. I always enjoy the pharmaceutical staff. Since James left the staff is rude and inadequate. I have to fill pain meds from time to time. Each time I do they treat me like a dope dealer, Now this is 10 pills for root canal on Friday. I had about a hour in area before I had to leave town. Long lines with only 1 non-express lane open. Waited a long time to get up to the belt, and even after my groceries were completely rung up and paid for I waited about five minutes for them to finish bagging them. You would think they were rationing bags today because they stuffed my bags so full that they ripped before I ever got them home. At least the produce looked pretty good today and the cashier did apologize for the wait. This is pretty much the story each time I visit this location. I am loathe to write a review but..............15 mins @ Customer Service waiting in line while the rep and a customer were admiring ea. others nails. There were only 2 of us in line and the young lady in front of me got so frustrated she left. I called 1-800 Kroger, he said he was taking the info from me and never once asked for my contact info. I called the store Mgr and gave him the same info. He didn't ask who I am, contact info, he just said ok, thank you sir. All of this was around 2030-2100. Publix is 3/4 a mile further. Their store is clean, their emplyees helpful, the whole experience is so nice. Kroger on Howell Mill is dirty, customer service is only available when the Mgr are out on the floor in front of the employees. I give this place 00000000 ponts. read more

Rip off alert!!! Meat is priced cheaper than what it ringing up. Just read a post in the neighborhood website. Friday 93/7% ground meat was priced $5.99. Brought to store managers attention that it rang up $6.49. It goes on to say that 5 days later same meat is still priced $5.99 and ringing up $6.49. The manager obviously didn't fix the situation. Why would he when they are stealing .50 off everyone. Please check your receipts. The store is notorious for not having things priced correctly among many other issues. read more

My wife and I have been shopping here for years but never will again after an employee tried to take a picture up my wife's dress by reaching under the bottom shelf of the milk as she opened the door. Next time you're there, take note of the bottom row of the milk section being empty as I doubt a worker in the dairy department of a grocery store came up with this idea on his own...I spoke with management 3 different times after this happened and no action has been taken citing a lack of security cameras in the store.
