If zero stars were an option, I would select it. My father worked at this Kroger location for over 10 years, pushing carts in extreme heat and cold. Many people in the area recognize him instantly--he looks like Santa Claus and was a familiar, friendly presence to customers for years. After more than a decade of loyalty, and just one month before becoming eligible for retirement benefits, a new manager, Richard Dunn, terminated his employment for what can only be described as a trivial and unnecessary reason. My father is 67 years old and never shied away from hard work. In a short period of time, my dad lost his wife to cancer and his mother the year before. Despite everything, he continued showing up and doing his job. Firing him two weeks before Christmas and weeks before his retirement benefits vested demonstrates a shocking lack of compassion and respect. This decision reflects extremely poorly on the management at this location. I will personally be boycotting this store and encouraging others to do the same. I cannot support a business that allows leadership to treat long-term, elderly employees in such a callous manner. Kroger, you can and should do better. read more

I don't shop at this Kroger often at all but was in the area and had to stop in for a few last minute needs yesterday and had a great experience! The staff was helpful in pointing me in the right direction since this store isn't the same layout as the one closer to me, and I have to shoutout the floral department and specifically the nice displays out for Valentine's Day right now, beautifully done!! read more

Pros: Kroger Plus Card helps you save on items and always cheaper gas! Great convince to shop and get gas. Good deals on items sale like soda, snacks and other items Cons: Not always having the best meats in stock. Overall: With a Kroger Plus Card you can get really good deals on items. Preferably I used Publix to by lunch meats and meats. But for canned items, sodas, and vegetables Kroger has a good selection at a cheap price. read more

I love this grocery store. The produce is as good as Publix, but less expensive. Even though it's not the giant Kroger, they still have good wide selection in the cheese area. It's fun to get a coffee at the Starbucks up front and enjoy sipping while I shop - I actually enjoy grocery shopping- ha! If I'm buying more bulk stuff or some good steaks, I usually choose Costco, but for everyday grocery runs, this Kroger is my favorite. read more

Store is a jumbled up mess. Deli is short staffed and I'll tempered. Plus their pricing system is down right criminal. The price in the meat case has you decide upon a selection marked as being 6.99/lb. when the clerk hands you your ham it's labeled at 8.99/lb. when questioned clerk responds that at check out price will reflect correct price if you have your Kroger card. Then the discount never appears. I'm past having this screwed up system explained. It's misrepresentation. I did solve the problem by never shopping with Kroger again.u read more

Great place, always clean. However: parking lot should really be fixed, they are currently EXTREMELY understaffed, to the point where they only have ONE line open, out of their many lines. The one great thing about this place though? Amazing prices on their organic and health food products. Definitely get their seaweed snack. read more

I'm trying to wrap my head around why when I walk into certain markets like Kroger the food that I purchased there goes bad quicker then if I buy it from anywhere else. For example I just walked out of the Kroger on Freedom Parkway with a box of Good and Plenty candy that was as stale as they come. I had to bring in for exchange. I then decided to buy a bottle of Vita coco coconut water which had soured. I know some stores do a better job of circulating their stock. I also had to wrestle with the tag renewal kiosk because I made it all the way to the end of my purchase and the card reader didn't work. But I've also bought bread that has gone bad in 3 days including milk and other items. What is going on at that store? read more

Produce department here is the worst. Lame selection. Impossible to find pricing and when you do it is on the high side. This department is so uninspired and they must hate their job as it shows in the quality of the produce, pricing, inventory.... They are super slow and non customer oriented on the customer service desk. read more

This Kroger is disappointing in the fact that it as an aggressive aura. This store is in desperate need of a make over from the bottom to the top. I like a musical, peaceful, by the surf mentality when I go shopping. Something like a pier by the beach with a breeze kind of relaxed shopping mode. At this kroger some of the associates act as if this is something to "beat up others over". Publix is way more professional but much more expensive. The new Kroger on Bethelview is more like the style I like to shop. I think that if the Freedom Parkway Kroger would be more like a beach stop or mountain inn type mode it would be a nicer place to shop. The new Starbucks is great. read more

Deli service is awful. I went a couple weeks ago, and after waiting a while, had to repeat my order (only 2 items) FOUR times. Then when she still got it wrong, another employee just says "Well, she's new. Everyone has to start somewhere." Not a shining example of customer service or service recovery... Thinking it was just a bad day for them, my husband visited their deli today. Or at least tried to. After waiting in line for 10 minutes, he gave up and left without getting anything. I try hard not to shop at this Kroger. My son worked here 5 years ago and reported problems in the meat and seafood department. He was blackballed and eventually pushed out. Beyond that, I have problems with the quality of this store and that they rarely have items in stock that I would consider to be big sale items. read more

Ugh. This Kroger is the bane of my existence. It is the closest store, so I deal with it, but UGH, it's the worst. It's not clean clean, the pharmacy takes forever, the produce is not fresh, and it's just oddly laid out. I have recently switched from Publix to this Kroger because of some of the deals I can get at Kroger with my plus card. However, I was pretty disappointed today and second guessed coming back, but because of the prices will give it another chance. The meat selection was really lacking today...nothing was out! I had to ask for beef for beef stew. Luckily the female meat attendant was super sweet about getting me some from the back. I would have rather it just been out for me to grab ( I was in a hurry with a little one needing a nap!) This is similar with produce. Last time I had to ask for parsley, today they didn't have basil. Also every stand was out of produce bags except the ones high up (which I can barely reach), and I usually have a lot of produce to buy. I don't understand, I ALWAYS see produce employees tending to the department, and they always have it in the back...why can't it just be out and readily available? Also, I like to use Hunt's crushed tomatoes WITH basil. They don't carry it--so irritating. I don't even think they offer ANY brand of crushed tomato with basil. I can find this everywhere else. I'm also VERY disappointed they don't carry Lindsay olives. Selection of yogurts are limited too. I mean come on, you're not the Food Lion or Aldi! You're Kroger...pretty sure you can afford to offer those items. I literally buy multiples of those items weekly... I buy a few products from the health foods section, but am SHOCKED by those prices! I will not be buying those items from them anymore. Rice Dream milk I get for a little over $3 at Publix..was over $5 here. And my son's organic rice cereal is a dollar more here vs. Target. I was hoping to make Kroger my one place to shop, but I guess I'll have to go back to shopping at multiple stores to get the products I need, and better prices on other items. I have been very impressed with the deals I can find on wine. The employees are nice enough. Could make themselves for available to customers wandering around the stores trying to find items, though. Publix employees always ask me if they can help me! This may be a temporary change, may have to go back to Publix if I can't find items on my grocery list! Such a shame! read more

At first I thought it would be strange to rate a grocery store but saw others and wanted to add my experience. Maybe I'm a Publix snob but I happened to be in the shopping plaza and needed some lunch meat for the week. So I dropped into this Kroger. Maybe it's not what I'm used too and can be considered sanitary....BUT....I was completely appalled by how they handled the deli. When I advised on my selection they took the meet out of a Ziploc bag then after slicing returned the meat to the same Ziploc bag. Not to mention that the slicer could have used some cleaning. I'm used to seeing it wrapped in a "fresh" plastic wrap after each use. I paid and left but couldn't get it out of my head so just ended up throwing it away. I won't be back. read more

Good prices on beer as long as you have a Kroger card but my biggest problem with the supermarket is the horrible stench inside which I presume is from the fried foods being produced. It's bad enough when you're inside but then the smell attaches itself to your clothes and you carry it with you for the next hour. read more

ESPECIALLY great service in the meat and seafood department where they have often gone out of their way to take great care of us with special order high quality items. I'm a customer for life! I have complained to corporate several times about produce being stale, not stocked, and how the employees in the produce section constantly block a whole aisle with their large carts. I always have to manually move one to get to that particular spot. Other aisles are often blocked as well. I even took pictures of aisles being blocked and of shelves/compartments empty and not stocked ... and sent them to Kroger Corporate along with a complaint. Got no response at all. This is the worst managed Kroger store I have ever seen - and I have been shopping at Kroger for years. The cashiers are fast, very friendly and nice - but the management of the store overall is inept. I will be shopping at Publix now. read more

Kroger, I love that you are so close to me and meet all my basic needs. You are well staffed and get me out quickly when busy. However, I hate walking out smelling like a piece of deli chicken. Something needs to be done about the ventilation or move the deli outside. I can't wear nice clothes inside for fear that I won't be able to get the smell out of my beautiful wool coat. read more

I'm thankful there's a Kroger close to my home, but this one is a bit lacking. The selection is limited compared to other stores. Meat is expensive and disappointing. Went to get a rotisserie chicken for dinner at dinnertime and they were out, said it would be over an hour before more were ready. It's dinnertime, plan ahead for the rotisserie rush hour please. No olive bar and No Starbucks. Arghhhhhh! No scallions, no alfalfa sprouts, no bulk items like oatmeal and raw peanuts. I'm not a wholefoods hippie, but these are a few items that most stores have now a days. Employees are usually very nice and helpful though. read more
