On a whole...Kroger always has what I need, and at reasonable prices. Service is usually okay at the checkout. I'd like to see a little more help throughout the store, especially if you're mobility impaired and need help with reaching things. The ambiance is nice and as expected. The store is usually clean. Had the worst encounter with one of their employees today. While he was working at Kroger...instead of guarding the facility, he was guarding a Pokemon kiosk. Lol I walk up saw him trying to make a purchase, I thought ok...I'm cool with it. However his card declined and instead of walking away...he made it very clear that he wasn't moving and that to give him time to call his bank. (In a very stand-offish type of manner) When that failed he tried calling a person to see if he wanted to send him money so he could purchase. Which was just rude move...and unfortunately for him his friend said he didn't want to buy it. So as I'm watching him constantly swipe his card call his bank while it just keep declining....i called him out about how is actually buying a reselling to someone else. Basically he isn't there to protect and guard the area....he is there for entirely something else. Eventually I told him it's just not meant to be, your card is declining...then he responds with "I am just doing this to annoy you and that he doesn't work for Kroger. The Kroger manager witness this and it seems like he bully's the other employees from getting cards as well....according to another Kroger employee. He is a photos of him in uniform, in the middle of his shift. Hiring rude people like this is not a good move at all! If he he did this to me, I could imagine all the people he does it to on a daily that don't stand up to this nonsense. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd rather go shop at Walmart than Kroger! This store sucks! This my first time ever going to Kroger that has a BAD produce section!!! Everything always look old & spoiled! They treat every young black man like a criminal! Literally everytime I come here I'm being watched like a hawk when checking out. Then today I go by. They only had self checkout open. I go to pay for my things but the machine wouldn't take one of my bills because it's tape. So I take it to the woman in the section for change and she hands it off to the manager ( chubby Hispanic guy) . After he carefully analyze the bill over and over he tell me he can't take it cause he can't put it in the machine! When I'm clearly asking for change. The bill was 200% real you could see the Id number on the bill clearly and he still tells me I need to take it to the bank. What can I say about a grocery store truly? If they can keep product on the shelf, and keep those in stocked products fresh, then truly, mission accomplished. There is one aspect of this store that I am a fan of. Well, before divulging my one like of this place, I think it is best that I tell you this place, in theory, is secure. I always see an armed guard at the exit point. Now, I am not sure if that is a glass half empty, or a glass half full scenario, and I guess that is up to you to decide. Just know that either this establishment was proactive, and decided they wanted to ensure safety of shoppers, or hopefully not, they were reactive after something major occurred. I rarely go here and not find what I am looking for. Now, finding the price that I would ideally wish to pay is another story, but overall, you will not get gouged too much here. Also, keep in mind that if you get a free membership, your purchases go towards cheaper gas. The membership card will always get you 3 cents off a gallon, and the gas station is right in front of the store, across the parking lot. If you make it to a certain number in purchases, your card will then get you 10 cents off a gallon for gas. On to what I do like about this place...the mini-frugal scavenger hunts. What I mean by that is simply that there is always something on discount, or manager's special at this location. Whether it is because they baked too many good and are trying to get rid of the stuff, or just because they are trying to make room for new items, there is always something discounted. I took pictures of a few places where you will find the manager's special stickers, so look at the photos for an idea. There is also an isle that has quick sales items at all times as well. All in all, this is a national chain grocery store. You cannot expect top notch service because normally young adults are working the store. If you get them to just acknowledge you, then be happy with just that! This place is a good spot to fill in big buys and just find something inexpensive to snack on. read more

This Kroger had too many questionable looking people here. Customers and employees. People try to come to your car and ask for money or to buy cd's and what not. The food isn't as fresh and a smaller selection of food when it comes to meats and fruits and vegetables. Make sure you look in your expiration date for your food because they will sell expired food. I waited 45 minutes I called back and they said I'm sorry. She didn't specify that she was restocking some thing. But now she won't be out there until 2 o'clock. They should hire two people or put more people on shifts. There's no reason that there should be someone out there for over an hour. I drove 25 minutes to get here waited 45 minutes to get gas because I travel for work and didn't want to drive any further. The store is disorganized and very dark, it actually needs a good scrub down. I usually just go in there after my workout at Planet Fitness and get some sushi. 6 months ago I would've given this Kroger 1 star. I hated it. Customer service (lack of) was BAD here. Also, the dumbest thing to do is only have 1 line open at 6 PM in the evening. They did it all the time. But something happened. They opened up 2 to 3 lanes during peek hours. The checkout person is nice. The extremely RUDE girl with the drawn in red eyebrows and 10,000 piercings above the neck is gone. And I haven't seen an "undercover" cop man-handle someone in the store since that incident back in June. I can actually tolerate shopping at this Kroger. They still have a really good bakery, nice floral section with a great selection of fresh flowers and plants, and there's a sushi bar with a sushi chef (I think she's Korean though but her sushi is still good). There's also a great "international" section... with products to make sushi! Good job cleaning up the place. I'd give 4 stars but the parking still sucks. read more

Looks are deceiving. Took me a while to figure out that I really like this Kroger. The staff is a little bumpkin-y and the shoppers even more so (which are the things that will throw off your Yelp radar, at first) It looks unexceptional but the place is enormous. I always find what I need here, in well-stocked shelves. I also always find plenty I wasn't seeking. I almost hesitate to share this find with others, since I want all the deals I find here. I've been going here for about 10 years now. Unfortunately it's the only grocery store nearby. This store has the worst service I've ever experienced. As much business as it gets, one would expect all cash registers to be open at key times of the day. In many cases I have to sack my own groceries because there are no sackers around. When there are sackers around, often times their pants are sagging and underwear showing (really disgusting). Is rather sack my own stuff than let a guy who keeps lifting his pants up to keep them from falling all the way down. Overall the level of service is aweful. I've been to some nice Kroger stores before that are completely opposite this one. I think it has to do with the level of clientele that shops there. Very dirty store. I would believe that anyone who writes a good review about this Krogers must be an employee because this is the worst store I have ever shopped at. 1. Most of the employees are young and thuggish, sagging pants and underwear showing, the ones I seen were playing around or wearing headphones and riding around on the the mobile scooters meant for disabled people, blocking the sidewalk and doing circles. I was shocked by the level of disturbing employee behavior here. 2. I bought some beef rib tips and when I opened the package at home, the smell was absolutely rotten! They went straight into the trash. What a waste of money. 3. There must have been ten gang member looking employees all standing around or sitting on the benches outside, yet there were no available shopping carts, all of the carts were in the parking lot still, I could not believe it! 4. It seems the refridgerated section where the eggs are stored was being worked on and I noticed the most disgusting site, stagnent water with mildew and dead flies filled the refrigerated unit, I almost wanted to barf. 5. As another reviewer stated, there were people begging for money and selling CDs right outside the store and even in the parking lot! 6. The open bread case was filled with tiny flies, it was apalling, and the bread that I bought from the discount rack was moldy! OMG! 7. I have never in my life experienced a cashier so fucking rude, firstly she would not stop talking to her coworker and would not even look in my direction, she basically tossed the reciept at me and kept talking to the cashier who was standing beside her, it was a crazy experience. 8. There were flies all around the fruit in the fruit and vegetable section. 9. Crackheads abound. To sum it up, I would not even force my enemies to shop at this disgusting ghetto market. This is the Kroger that is very conveniently located just west of I-45 on the way home. The problem is that it is so horrible in so many ways. 1) The need for armed guards at the grocery store. 2) The incessant bellowing of management on the PA with some sort of contest that no one cares about but the manager doing the bellowing. 3) The deli is ridiculously under stocked as well as lacking the variety of other Kroger stores. 4) The butcher is nearly as bad as the deli. 5) The overwhelming percentage of customers in the store making the need for the armed guard so blatantly apparent. There should be a drunk and disorderly check out lane, as there is almost always someone belligerent enough to be arrested while you are waiting to pay. And to end this rant, finally! 6) When I am in your store and spending over $150, don't tell me that I have to check myself out while I am witnessing at least six employees at the front of the store not working at all, just talking amongst themselves, texting and talking on their cell phones. Come on, really! For these reasons, as well as others, I try and have tried to avoid this store completely, but, sometimes it is just seems necessary. I stopped in this Kroger on the way to orientation for a new job because I needed pantyhose and a scarf. Honestly. It's an old Kroger, in need of updates, but it seemed clean and well stocked. The pantyhose selection was abysmal. They had one brand and they were only about $2, but you got what you paid for - these were the crappiest hose I've ever put on. I get it that in recent decades pantyhose had fallen out of fashion, but they've been back for a while now (I'm not talking about nude pantyhose, but sheer black, etc.). Anyway, the scarf selection was decent (which isn't necessary in a grocery store) and only $6! The worst part about shopping here was the man wandering around the store, asking shoppers for money. This is indeed the worst experience I have ever encounter at a Kroger's Store. I only shop big once I month due to working and caring for my family however, today would be the day I will never forget. Me and my mom walked into the store and as usually we start our shopping. When completed our shopping we head to the checkout to find that there were not any cashiers to check us out. Both UScan's were open but, you can't check-out two baskets of groceries at these check-out's so, the clerk got on the overhead and called for assistants. No one came and I noticed that a tall gentleman passed us twice; not saying a word or letting his customers know what was going on. Well, eventually I got his attention when I mentioned Wal-Mart and he became furious and began to yell at me stating that there was a fall, that comes first, and also some of his employee's called in, and that if I had a problem with it I can leave his store. After that I told him that he was rude and disrespectful and that I don't deserve to be treated the way I am been treated me (being a regular customer) He gets in my face and says that you can leave your groceries and get out of my store. I told him that I would and as I turned my back to leave; he told me not to come back and told his cashier that these Niggers think they run this place. I was hurt and shocked because, I have never been talked to like this before. I will not ever go into this store again. I am now a Wal-mart shopper and I have torn up my Kroger's card. read more

I have always disliked this store, and after an incident I had there today, I am really unhappy. I have been shopping at this store since 1998, and we have spent at least $200-300 per week, 52 weeks per year, for 14 years, at this store. We are a Kroger Plus member. I have never, ever written a bad check there, nor have I ever given them any trouble in any way. Today I left my debit card at home and had no other way to pay for my groceries except by check. My drivers license is expired. They would not let me write a check. I asked them to research my Kroger Plus account, and they can see that we are frequent customers at this Kroger. They have no reason to distrust me, and my name has never, ever been on their "hot check list". I had no way to pay for my items, despite years of being a loyal Kroger customer. I use fabric reusable Kroger bags when I shop. My husband and I have been using them for a couple of years. We load the bags into the cart then do our shopping, pay and leave. After doing this for months, we had a manager that we hadn't seen before pull us out of our shopping to tell us that we couldn't keep our bags with us in the store. They were to be stored behind the Customer Service desk and when we checked out, we were to stop by there first to get our bags. What??? We had never heard of this in our life, from this Kroger or any other Kroger. Even HEB has never asked us to leave our bags up front. Like we were guilty of shoplifting or something. When it was time to check out, we had to wait in line in order to get our bags from the Customer Service counter. Our food was thawing while we waited. It makes us never want to use our reusable bags again because of the hassle they imposed. This store's produce is left out past it's ripened stage, and there are always hundreds of fruit flies in the produce area. The bathrooms are filthy. And you will see AT LEAST one crack-head while shopping. There are cracked-out bums sitting on the benches in front of the store begging for money, and security guards that are way too out of shape and overweight to ever be able to protect the shoppers or catch a criminal. This is supposedly a Signature store, but there's nothing signature about it. It was a little crappy, underachieving store when they came along and remodeled it and slapped a "Signature" sign on it. That was 15 years ago, and it has gone downhill ever since, just like the neighborhood around it. We have given it so many chances, and even have made friends with a couple of the long-time employees. It is the closest store to us, but lately we have found ourselves driving further for better quality. After today, I am writing to Kroger Corporate to see if they can do something about this badly managed store. If you want a REAL Signature store with more variety, cleaner facilities, higher-end foods and more selection, go to the stores in Spring/Champion Forest area, far north Spring/The Woodlands area, or the one at Kuykendahl/Louetta. It's worth the extra drive. They are managed by better educated people, and they all have two to three times as much selection as this store. It is in an unsafe area, so watch all around you while you're in the parking lot. It is located at the intersection of FM-1960 West and I-45 in drug and crime-ridden Cypress Station. Leave your purse at home, and keep your cards/money/identification in your pockets. If you have a nice car, don't drive it there. Mine got vandalized. read more

Today, I had one of the worst experiences I've had with management. I went to this Kroger yesterday to purchase some items to cook nachos (chips, meat, sour cream, etc.) along with other items. I got home and realize I didn't have the meat I purchased. Went back to store, talked to cashier and the young guy that bagged my groceries. The bagger told me to go get the meat but he was going to keep my receipt. Got home later and realized I didn't get my sour cream and the potatoes. I called the store at 9:21 pm and explained my situation and the attendant told me to come to the store the next day, speak to the manager, and they will review the film. Well, I went to the store, talked to the manager, and the told me 'he didn't have time to watch the film'. He asked what time did I come to the store. I told him between 5 - 5:30 pm. He said, ' see that between time I definitely don't have time to sit down and watch film all day'. He asked me what were the items I didn't get. I told him I would find some other way to get this handled. I was so hurt, embarrassed, and disappointed. I felt so 'small' from the way he disregarded me, especially in a time where people are scrambling to find whatever is left on the shelves. Flower department took 15-20min for service. Wait for a florist. Don't let nobody but for a florist to assist you my reason why and experience. 3 pages and nobody showed up. All I want was to replace a broken flower on a Bouquet, but instead a gentleman from produce that was an assistant just rudely took the broken flower out and said there was nothing else he can do and walked away. Like clearly he had no knowledge of pulling out a flower and just yanked it out like, really I could of did that instead of waiting but just Because I didn't want to pull any other flowers with it I wait for a florist and also he made a comment of why not just buy another bouquet. Maybe because I want that specific one because of the color arrangement for someone birthday. So over I had to get another bouquet due to the fact I didn't like the way the flowers looked after he put his whole hand in them. Next time Kroger when I do buy more flowers hopefully I don't experience that issue again. read more

Dirty, poor produce, and terrible customer "service". The cashiers were more interested in gossiping with each other rather than engaging with the customer they were assisting. The bagger seemed miserable working, and was clearly annoyed that she had to scan the heavy water jugs on the bottom of my cart. She also packed all the heavy items on top of the soft products in my cart. When I asked for her name to let her manager know the level of service she provided, she asked rudely, "Why? Was it bad?"
