They had a display out front with the 220z. Arizona teas on sale for 2/1.00 which is an AWESOME PRICE these days! There happened to be a very nice associate working on the display & she went the extra mile to get me a whole case with the plastic wrap still on it. I requested that and she had me take a single can so that the cashier could ring up 24 cans at once. I ended up purchasing the extra can as well. My family & I love this particular brand tea & we recycle the cans so it's a Win-Win. I really admire the concept that the Joe-V stores have where customers take there own shopping baskets in & return them to the designated areas for the most part-Lol! I think it's a super smart concept! Oh I also purchased an XL bottle of fabric softener for under $9.00 dollars & it's a great deal! I know I had a cake that wouldn't scan because the barcode was messed up so he scanned it for me and then he put it aside where it was out of sight Away pack everything and put them all in bags, I didn't get it no coconut cake for me. I guess he gets a free coconut cake for being a zombie. I think he only eats brains, so what possible good it would do him. HEB/JoeV's Smart Shop is trying to poison certain community when they store Bottle Water on the sidewalk in Houston Texas Heat...HEB really does not care when they allow Employees, like Luis to walk and speak with so much unnecessary sarcasm, resentment and hostility toward customers who ask questions. I just finished shopping and here is HEB customer service for $13.18. HEB does not have an Express line, it just look like one, so you still must check yourself out. It is new to this location and I could tell the lady in front of me felt the same because Luis with such arrogance said, "You gotta do it Yourself and she said, "O". I did not noticed there were two and Luis did not borther to do his job, so another customer asked if I wanted to go first when he came up and noticed. I asked Luis why did he not tell me? LUIS said You got eyes. When the Customer, in front of me try to pay with her credit card, it was clear she did not know where, I said to Luis, you don't see she need help. LUIS Refused to do his job, so I help. When I finished my purchase Luis stood like some Fake A?$ King and said nothing. If you have not been keeping up with my reviews, then let me give you a quick rundown of why I like this place: First, this is essentially HEB that allows overstocked items and other HEB brand items to be sold at a discounted rate. Second, the fruit and produce available here are normally really fresh and also inexpensive. Thirdly, not not truly lastly of why I like this place, sometimes you will find an item that they really want to clear out of the store at a extremely discounted rate. Joe V himself was in the store surprising people with gift cards while they waited in the check out line. Come here and experience the phenomenon of buying 3 pounds of bananas for $1! Stopped here on my way home to pick up some steaks to grill while watching the Astros game tonight. There is a very large parking lot that seemed to be more than half full. Before walking into the store make sure to grab a basket from outside. This franchise doesn't employee people to retrieve the baskets from the parking lot. It was explained this is how they are able to keep prices low. As I walked thru the store I couldn't help but noticed how clean the store was. Floors looked as if they were just mopped, shelves appeared to be fully stocked. The prices on the produce were amazing. I didn't plan to buy produce but couldn't pass on some of these prices. There was also a sushi station were you can watch it being prepared, talk about fresh! With the parking lot being as full as it was, I was expecting long lines to check out. Surprisingly there were no long lines. Just about every other register was open keeping people steady moving. The cashier was very friendly and asked how I was, did I find everything I needed, and even asked if I was going to watch the game later. It's great when you are able to walk in and out of a store quickly and feeling like you got the most for your money. I will be coming back here for sure! read more

I've been going to Joe Vee's at 2929 FM 1960 Humble for one year, Prices are good and I'm saving money, but prices are slowly rising. However today I bought some fresh-cut chicken and I noticed a rotten smell coming from the display shelves where all the (Non-Frozen) chicken products are. The dates stamped showed good till 8/09/23. But I noticed all the shelving trays where they place the packaged chicken were full of (rotten fluids) from run-off from the prior products that have been placed there possibly several weeks ago. These shelves have NOT been cleaned for several weeks if not months! I showed the manager using a paper towel and lifted up rotten smelling slim and bits of chicken. She did not want o smell it! I told her this is very dangerous and a serious issue. Not sure who is at fault? Someone there laid large paper towels over the rotten fluids in some areas and then placed the fresh chicken over it? There are 4 shelves completely contaminated possibly with Simunellia bacteria that looks like rotten chicken fluids. The manager said she will have it cleaned soon? I returned all my chicken products. Hopefully the beef trays were cleaned?? read more

Prices are excellent on everything. Staff is friendly. You do have to bag your own items, which is no big deal to me. Store is always well-stocked and clean. They accept cash and debit cards. Try to go during non-peak hours if you don't want to dodge other shoppers and kids running around. The place gets busy! This produce is fresh, organized and economical. It's close to my house and the parking lot is spacious. I discovered this store a couple years back but the closest on to my house was 20 minutes away. Now I have it only 5 minutes away from my house so it is much more efficient. It has most of the products I need and it definitely saves me money. This new store has been great since it opened, its also been keep kept up which sometimes doesn't happen and new stores she quickly. This location is usually well stocked & organized. Great deals on items like name brand turkey, pastrami, etc. that are usually $4+ every where else. I was skeptical thinking a lot of their stuff has to be expired, but that's not the case at all. Also a good place to stock up on cooking neccessities like onions, fruit, bell pepper, butter, seasoning & such. They make in store fresh guacamole which I gotta say is pretty darn good. They have these $20 meat packs which are perfect if you live solo or a small family. You'd easily spend $30+ buying the items seperately. If you go here, check out the guy selling tamales right outside...they're delicious!!! He gives free samples too! One negative is the lines can get kinda long, but what do you expect from a lower cost store. Families are in line with 2 or 3 baskets full of grocieries. I have a love/hate relationship with Joe V's...on one hand, I can buy 10 bags full of groceries for what I would pay to buy 3 at HEB but 1. they don't accept credit cards and most importantly, 2. you risk theft, getting harassed by perverts, shopping cart scuffs on your car, and possibly even an armed robbery. I've even seen stray dogs living in the parking lot :( needless to say, this place is in the hood so beware of the above if you plan to shop here. Otherwise, you can really save some dough here. Their produce is always fresh and clean and they actually have an organic section which is quite small but still good. Don't expect to find things like feta cheese and Dijon mustard here but you can get the basics and go somewhere else for the more gourmet items. read more

Good ol' Joe V's is the place to shop when you need a quick grocery stop or want to save on some basic staples. Most items they carry are HEB brands like HEB and Hill Country Fair as well as some name brands. You can find most items here for somewhat less than you'll find at standard HEB stores. Bread, chips, sodas, etc. are sold at great prices so if you are having a get together this is a place to stock up and save while doing so. You can also save on kitchen and household staples. While the variety is not a big as at a regular HEB, you'll still find most of what you need. I don't regularly shop here but when I happen to be in the area I'll make a run in and grab some standard items like bananas, bread, etc. I've never been disappointed in quality or service here. The store is kept up well and the employees are very helpful. Items are easily located. The checkout time can vary depending on how busy it is but that's to be expected and no bother. The parking lot can be a nightmare but that's due to the fact that this Joe V's can be busy and inability of people to sensibly maneuver their car in the correct lane. Beware of shopping carts in the parking lot also. For unknown reasons, most people cannot put them where they belong and although the employees do gather them up they reappear all over the place because people want to be lazy and not put them in their proper place. This seems to be food that is about to expire within days. I was excited to go shopping here to save money. My mother purchased all of her grocery here and saved about $50! But when we got home, half the items she purchased had a bad taste. Not to mention, our ham had mold! Our bacon was black in the middle. Meat had a bad smell. Chips were stale. I was very disappointed! I rather spend the extra money to make sure I am feeding my family good food. I would understand if one item was bad, but it was over 5 items! I went to get our money back after a week since I notice everything we were eating seemed bad. The manager was rude. He wanted me to bring all of our groceries in, but half the stuff we had already eaten. I felt sick and nauseous thinking that we ate bad food! My mother was returned $20. This place is not like whole foods but in order to go to whole foods, you pay "whole food's prices. You see, i am not a fan of the HEB company making stores to appeal to people of a certain race (central market= white people, Joe V's= African American, Mi Tienda- Hispanic people) but this review isn't over that.. it just to explain that it's very cheap, has fresh produce and everyone who works here is very nice! Plenty of parking, short wait times in line, clean and spacious, great selection of meats and produce, cheap bakery items, household items, and frozen foods all incredibly cheap- less than HEB. I give it 4 stars because it does not have all the item I need at times to prevent me from driving 15-20 mins in traffic. However, they have a decent selection of basic items (produce, meat, and the "oh I forgot to get stuff"). I like that they have an organic produce section, its small but it's there . Don't expect to go in there complete your grocery shopping list Bc you will leave disappointed. So far since opening in May 2017 the staff has been nice and while the lines are typically longish there's alway enough lanes open to ease the wait time. read more

Love the store. Awesome fresh aromas greet you at the entrance. Just wish customers would stop consuming produce without paying, first. It upsets me to think I am purchasing a container of something, only to find it's missing some of the contents because customers and their kids are filling up on food they didn't pay for. This location gets pretty darn packed special if you going anytime that's not morning! Prices are Great thou they don't have all the regular store brands you may find at Kroger's or Walmart. I typically go here to stock up on frozen breakfast food for my kids. Jimmy Dean breakfast sandwiches are cheaper than other places and I also stock up on smallish Square foam plates. This store is an Heb sister so you will find Hill Country products all over. Also bring your patience if you wanna same money. Finding a parking space is a bit difficult soo just park far or towards back Less Drama. Also getting in line and checking out can take some time. Ive had several people ahead of me have drama and they take longer. But I try and keep a Smile and just live in the moment! I don't shop here regularly like I do my Kroger's. Normally have had great experience with customer service and friendliness at all other locations, but today was an experience I don't want anyone else to have. My 71 year old mother had a fall in the produce department due to water on the floor. After a customer helped her up and another customer contacted the Manager things went left from there. The Manager, Missy, came over and took my mother's name, number and what she called a report on a piece of paper and told my mother someone would contact her and went back to doing whatever she was doing. She didn't show or express concern for my mother any further. I wasn't there, but my mother called and express what happened and explained her knee was bothering her. I immediately called to speak to the manager about taking further measures and calling the paramedic to make sure she was okay. Missy expressed to me that they do not call the paramedic for individuals who hurt themselves in their stores. Besides the fact the Missy was very rude from the start when I called, which I ignored because my mother being okay was more concerning, she did not show any concern for a fallen customer and I don't advise anyone to shop in a place where the team members are not concerned with the health of their customers. Missy chose to work in a field that deals with customers of all sorts and yet she can not be sincere enough to be concerned enough to take a proper report and call the paramedic for a fallen older customer. read more
