The parking lot and the gas station next to it is down right scary. Large groups of people congregate outside constantly, smoke "stuff", blare music, leave trash, etc people park wherever they want, up on curbs, blocking isles, and don't observe stop signs or any traffic rules really, making this location not even remotely ideal unless you are very local. My favorite is people screaming on the phone at someone as they walk through the store. Kroger needs to reconsider the parking flow, add some safety measures, slow down the traffic. Clerk named Michael, never said he was opening I had a meeting to get to, I was leaving as he started to open, another customer had already taken my place. This location is very large that sell food, cloths, and a little of everything in between. The deli meet section has outstanding options, my favorite is Boars Head. They have some real good internal items like Kroger peach jelly, private selection southern pecan ice cream, and Kroger fresh mixed nuts. They have the best hush puppies ever made by Southern food company, best lemon cake that like $20 in the bakery department (better than fancy cakes at stand alone bakeries that cost 3 times as much), and more. Kroger delivery is top notch. Recommend paying for yearly program that comes with free delivery. It comes with two delivery options. I preferred the Kroger option over instacart b/c you had to tip the driver and the bag were less desired than the strong blue Kroger bags. I don't like that there app logs me out now and it is a challenge to find what you are looking for in the store. Kudos to there quick store checkout. Love the app that will automatically find coupons for stuff you put in the basket for delivery. I get my gas here as well. read more

Management encourages violence against patrons. I have alerted Kroger to the issue and have received no follow-up or apology. it's been over a month and nothing has been done. Since they have refused to do anything about the matter, I need to let people know for their own safety. From the evening of September 8 "This evening, I had to do some last-minute shopping. I arrived at the store 15 minutes before closing and quickly grabbed my items. By five minutes before closing, I had the last item I needed in hand. As I was about to place it in my basket, the security guard--armored and presumably armed--approached me to remind me of the time. I acknowledged him and informed him that I was on my way to check out. His response, however, was to threaten to escort me off the premises. I was calm and direct, so such an escalation felt entirely unnecessary. I don't tolerate fools and do not suffer pointless provocation. I calmly put my basket down, walked to the front, and informed the person managing the self-checkout about how the security guard had treated me. The situation worsened as I was leaving--shockingly, the guard had the audacity to follow me out of the store, trying to get my attention. Not only did he attempt to escalate a simple situation right before I was about to check out, but he also continued his intimidation outside the store. This is my neighborhood Kroger, where my family has shopped for years. We easily spend thousands of dollars there annually, and I even have my prescriptions filled at this location. Normally, I'd let this type of encounter slide--no one wants to deal with a lingering customer at the end of the day. But for someone in a position of authority, with the potential to physically confront me, this behavior is unacceptable. Unless something is done to address this, my family will no longer be patronizing your stores. If we have to drive 10 minutes out of our way and spend a bit more elsewhere to preserve our dignity and peace of mind, so be it. What will kroger do to make this right?" read more

Grocery prices are high enough, but I don't like being accosted by Spectrum when I walk in to buy groceries.

The online application for shipping is a major failure after adding 8 items that the application assures the customer is available in limited quantities for shipping only after spending over an hour locating items supposedly in stock it removes everything when you try to pay for it at the end of the transaction blaming high demand. Major waste of time and will not endanger my family by having to go to a store that is out of stock of items other retailers can carry on a regular basis. Kroger hire a new development company to fix your wasteful shopping application. Major failure and increases people to people contact by refusing to ship items in demand to house bound customers. read more

NOTE: This review is based on my visit on December 16th, 2017. This used to be one of my favorite Kroger stores, and with it being close to my home, I'll continue to use it. But more and more, with each visit, I'm reminded of why I hate grocery shopping and why such services as ClickIt or Shipt are so popular. It saves the customer from Dante's 9 circles of Hell, but whereas Dante had Virgil as his guide, I had only what little remained of my sanity after over an hour of shopping for very few items but a lot of wandering. I've shopped this Kroger since before its' super store days. I was excited when - during the last major remodel - they expanded the deli and bakery and Kosher sections, adding a sushi station as well as a cheese shop. I was thrilled they were taking natural products more seriously, giving them their own refrigeration units and shelf space. It made it easier for those shopping natural and/or organic only. And if the only dairy I needed was a dozen eggs, I could grab them up there and not have to trudge back to the official dairy area. That's changed. I haven't been there in a few months, preferring to use Shipt and Amazon Pantry, but the sales were too tempting. I arrived at 8 am - still very few shoppers which I prefer because I hate shopping anyway. And I left well after 9 am after shopping for roughly 20 dedicated items all from specific but basic areas: produce, meats, dairy, frozen. The natural area is now kitchen gadgets and such. I unexpectedly found yogurt in a new aisle more center of the store instead of along the back wall in dairy (the selection felt sparse brand-wise). I looked for canned black eye peas (for this upcoming New Years) with the other beans such as pinto...and found them neatly stacked with baked beans. The natural breakfast burritos I found crammed into freezer shelves with the regular ones. The natural products I did run across are now mixed in with regular items, and I was told by a friend just today that her Kroger has done the same. If true, this is frustrating for those seeking natural or organic (I purchase if the price is right) because instead of a few items to sort thru, you're dealing with dozens of brands. As large as the store is, once you maneuver the outer edges of produce/cheese/deli/meats it feels almost claustrophobic. Add yourself, a couple of other shoppers, a stock person and maybe a Click It shopper and an aisle seems to close in on you. While the signage is clear and readable, I think the frustration lies in yet another do-over. You go to where something used to be, only to find that aisle is elsewhere. I gave up on a couple of things on my list; I was tired of wandering. I also noted that per signage, there are roughly 58 aisles! I doubt I'll ever see them all! I'll give this Kroger credit. I like the butcher counter (similar to Lucky's) where meats and seafoods can be weighed out. The deli has a wide selection from Kosher to Italian to American cuisine. The fried chicken is a delight. The sushi I've bought in the past is always fresh. I love the cheese shop. And it's a pleasure that I'm seeing cuts of meat such as oxtail, as well as lamb chops and lamb shanks (other than at Easter). It moves them into the 21st century and gives a customer a choice in expanding beyond the usual. It's nice to find something like oxtails without going to a specialty store. But is it worth it when you can't make a quick trip in this Kroger because you need a GPS or a map to find everything on your list? At least I wasn't alone. There were a lot of lost looking people, mumbling to themselves - as was I - such things as "Well it used to be here." Age, gender, race - it didn't matter. I'm sure I'll return, and will be ready for the adventure. My fear? They'll readjust the aisles yet again, leaving me to drop to my knees while screaming Darth Vader's notorious "Noooooooooooooooooooo!" read more

The pharmacy department in this store has gone way down hill. The wait is tremendously long. I see a long line, then decide to do my shopping, come back to the pharmacy and the line is still long. The customers complain while waiting in line. We have had Kroger auto-call when the RXs are ready for years. No calls came in after Rx phone request. A few days past and I decided to check on the Rx at the store. Calling to speak to staff is an impossible. When I waited a long time on the store line and finally got to the counter, I was told we were not on the call list. Huh??? After years on it??? Was told it needs to be updated every few months. Huh?? Since when? We were never told. Waiting for an antibiotic to be filled for 3 days. Could have been dead by then and overcome with the infection. This is customer abuse. Not acceptable!!!! read more

Kroger wake up - We were not impressed with the must have digital coupon required for the listed 3 day sale in the store on Northern toilet paper. First went to the website looking for the coupon no where to be found in 267 online coupon list. then loaded the app, then tried to create an account that matches my tried and true Kroger card. Failed. While I was doing this my elderly mother wondered off not realizing we could not get the listed sale price as advertised. Note: The digital coupons discriminate against the poor and elderly IMO. I am able to use Michaels and Target phone apps with no issues. Spent over 30 minutes trying to get a digital coupon for one product on sale for 3 days only. That cost me time for "0" results. If we have to spend more than 5 minutes to figure out your coupon system you have lost your audience (loyalty card is not enough?) if you cannot have a sale everyone can participate in, then it should be cancelled. So glad the Yelp app is available to voice a consumer opinion. I am so glad there are many other places to shop. HEB, Trader Joe's, Aldi, Walmart, , and many more. read more

Friendly place. Prices favorable (as good as Wallyworld, often better). Fine deli selections, space to eat here too. And the bakery area, yum! Get delicious mini croissants here, so buttery. Check out CBD products in the pharmacy area (make sure those for pain say "full spectrum" on the package. Make sure to get and use the Kroger app! When this location at McMahan Plaza was first remodeled it was awesome! My favorite Kroger is the Highland Kroger but sometimes this one is more convenient and less busy and with the remodel- it was almost as nice. Recently, however, it has been dirty and unorganized. Not sure what is happening in this area but my last few trips to this Kroger I have felt a little unsafe. There have been multiple fights in the parking lot, trash all over the place, no shopping carts inside and they were out of many "normal" things I usually buy. I hope it improves soon! I do prefer this Kroger's Wine and Spirit shop. They have beer on tap and the lady who manages it know a lot about wine. read more

Back again for my salmon in the easy bag. If you buy fish in the fresh meat area, you can ask them to put it in an easy bag for you. You can tell them to add seasoning, herbs, citrus slices, or butter to it. All at no additional charge. You just put the oven proof bag in the oven when you get home, and that's it. Baking time and temp is on the bag, and depends on the size fish you get. I liked the original foil bag with the viewable window they use to have. Then they switched to some parchment style bag that didn't seal all the way, which let all the steam out. Plus it had no viewable window. It never cooked the meat correctly. So I was happy to find out they replaced their easy oven bags again. I really like the new bags. They look like paper bags but are oven proof, and they have the viewable window. The meat comes out cooked perfectly. I was also surprised with the organic produce area. I actually left the store with several bags of organic produce, and didn't feel stressed about the cost. They had many organic produce on sale this time, and everything looked fresh. It was a good visit. read more

The Kroger Pharmacy at 3039 Breckinridge Lane, Louisville, KY 40220 must be the worst ran pharmacy ever. I stopped on Friday evening to get my mother's RX she called in for refill on Thursday morning. They said it wasn't ready to come back in an hour. I came back Saturday afternoon and it still is not ready. They are filling it while I wait. This is not the first time this has occurred. Similar experiences have occurred in picking up my dad's RX. The location is convenient for my parents, but by the time you make multiple trips I could go elsewhere. I will encourage my parents to change pharmacies and anyone else to do the same. read more

Absolutely do your best to avoid this Kroger! It is Kentucky's highest grossing most popular Kroger, yet none of those facts are taken into consideration. Getting on the parking lot is almost as dangerous as actually navigating it, a sheer nightmare for even the best drivers. Parking is convenient after 9pm, by that time Self-checkout is your only option. They regularly have just one associate at the service desk, with a line going through the aisle. Keeping the shelves full isn't a priority here, items such as Dasani water, Dean's Sweat tea, even Milk quickly run out, not to be stocked until the next day. The pharmacy is the only reason I visit this Kroger location. Every time I decide to give it another shot I leave disappointed, frustrated, and empty handed. This place is like a bad relationship, you know it's over, but you keep going back anyway. read more

This used to by my regular grocery store. I stopped in today on my way to the other side of town. They are currently (as of 5/9/13) under a decent sized renovation. And the layout inside has changed drastically (or at least it feels like it) since I was last there. I'm kind of torn about this location. I hate it, but then look around and it's at least clean and parking isn't usually too bad. When I say that when I go for a trip here and that they are out of about 20 percent of the items I came for or want, I am not exaggerating. It is SO frustrating. It's basic stuff too, like... WHY are you out of these things?! The promo items are the worst especially. I come for a sale and more than HALF of the items I wanted were out of stock. So pissed. The deli and sushi areas are usually well stocked and organized. The kosher section is always in shambles and needs a reset like no other. Things are just in odd places. Very weird set. Also, if you have not had a product in stock with a closeout tag, maybe pull the damn tag down and re set your 4 foot sections here and there to ( fluff up ) the bays. Also, how in the hell do you have less skus in certain sections that other Krogers with less space tend to pack in there? For instance, ( low cal or light options ) for salad dressings lol. Hardly any. But there's 6 facings of regular. Get with it! Get a reset and SET your PARS and min/Max for orders please! Seriously. Please. Because I don't want to go back to my old Kroger all the way across town. Because, well, I will. P.S. This store doesn't completely suck, but it's close. read more

I normally have great experiences at Kroger. Stopped by to grab some chicken as I was completely out and needed my protein. I grabbed three packs of grilled cut chicken pieces because they were labeled as on sale for 2.99 but when I got to the register it was coming out to 5.49 and I called for assistance to see what's up. (Keep in mind I don't shop at Kroger frequently.) He said "You need to scan your member card for that sale." And literally walked away, didn't offer to sign me up or anything. I was half tempted to see if someone wanted to scan theirs but said screw it and bought the chicken at full price. The employee didn't seem like he was too interested to help, I hailed him down even though I selected the call for assistance button. This Kroger is the pits and management does not care. Most of the time I cannot find a cart inside of the building. U can't walk in and find non-organic milk in the front of the store. The aisles are way too narrow, as well. They renovated the store, then renovated it again adding more organic foods. They are catering to people who use more costly organic foods which are in the minority. Kroger has become more greedy and simply does not care about their customers. I live between two different Kroger stores. This is the one I choose to frequent for many reasons. It is always clean, the workers here are always nice when I need help or ask a question. Many times I am asked if I need help, which does not happen in most grocery stores. The meat counter never smells fishy, and they even have a live lobster tank. This tells me that they keep their product up to date and fresh. I usually get my steaks from them and they are always a high quality. Generally speaking, this is a newly remodeled Kroger that is kept clean and up to date. It always has the groceries that I need and I will keep going back! read more

This Kroger is my neighborhood grocery store. My grandson and I like to go up and down the isles and discover new items. He is 4 thus learning! I know most of the employees. The store recently went through a renovation so we still get turned around. When in the seafood department ask for your favorite fish to be put in the cooking pouch with herbs and seasoning. When you get home just throw it in the oven for designated amount of time!! read more

Now, this is my Kroger and even though it is getting an overhaul, I do hope they keep the things I like about this store the same. The "Health Food" Section is the best I have found at any Kroger (With-In My Area). The Organic produce always looks good. I also like I am able to "Self-Check Out". This is my favorite Kroger. It is in a super convenient area and near a lot of other great stores as well. I recommend trying their fried chicken. It is juicy and usually freshly made. The employees are always helpful, and no one has ever made me feel unsafe within or outside the store. This is the best Kroger in town. They have everything and you can usually get in and out pretty quick.

The parking is tight, especially when there are delivery and fire trucks. That said, the store is nice and is a nice alternative to the currently-under-construction Stonybrook Kroger. This is not a big Kroger but it has everything a basic grocery needs. The employees are very friendly and once you find a parking spot, it is easy to get in and out of the store quickly. read more

Worst service ever. They always over charge me and never follow their policy to refund the cost and give you the product. This location would go broke following their own policy because of total incompetence. I have gotten in the habit of going to Meijer because this Kroger is so awful but stopped tonight just because it was on the way. The German Fitness bread was not in its normal spot. I walked around for a long time looking for it (and ANYONE that could help). Not finding anyone I ask up front if they could page someone to help. They did and the manager on duty called him and told him to tell me where the bread is. I said it's not sold with the bread and she said for him to tell me they didn't have any. Really??? Without even looking??? I tried to look again but the Kroger app said aisle 14 and it just was not there. I asked the meat department guy to help, he couldn't find it so called for help. The same lady called him and told him to tell me they are out. I kept looking and found it finally. They still had a lot too. I absolutely LOVE this Kroger's you have the BEST EMPLOYEES I have ever seen in a grocery store and not to mention that you actually sale clothing and shoes,purses everything I am totally addicted to your store I always buy the ladies in 5he clothing department a coke or bottle water and i give then the receipt showing it's paid for i sneak it on them so they can't say no because they always ask me if I know about the current sales going on and they actually unloaded the Kroger app to my phone I don't get out much because I am really sick but I always feel 100 PERCENT better when I come to your store. This Kroger is massive and always crowded so be forewarned. This Kroger has a pretty good selection, especially with the sushi counter and the cheese area. I was able to find almost everything I needed fairly quickly as the layout is easy to navigate. There organic section also has an enormous selection, which makes me happy as it's still cheaper than Whole Foods. The only department I was less than impressed was the meat selection. I was looking for a pre-packaged lean steak and it was very difficult to find. They don't seem to have a lot of red meat in general. All in all not a bad store, but will probably go to another Kroger for my routine shopping. read more

I was ready to never come back to this Kroger. Between the construction and the constant remodeling, I was fed up. BUT, the finished product may have been worth the wait! The place is clean, organized, and friendly. My favorite part is that it provides the Organic products similar to that of a Whole Foods, but WAY cheaper; a first for most Kroger locations! This Krogers has recently done a major expansion and is now just like all the other "super big" stores. TOO BIG for me!!! It used to be nice. You could get around it without feeling ike you've gone to the state fair. Now it's just exhausting. I went there yesterday and they have "supersized" their deli section too. They have also removed the items like Chicken salad, Health slaw, potatoe salads and cranberry salad that you used to be able to buy by the pound right next to the deli lunch meats. I guess now we're supposed to buy the more expensive "chefs shop" items instead. Too bad they had to get so big. I guess I'll have to find a smalled store like Trader Joes to shop at.
