Rising tide raises all ships. That's what seems to be happing exponentially in North Texas. Due to the paradigm shift caused by the entry of HEB in the area, everyone has to bring their A game or get out. Several closings of Kroger and Tom Thumb stores have occurred recently. As a result,the new stores opening have to be fast out of the blocks, with well stocked stores,moderated prices and yes, service. If you aren't at least making a smoke and mirrors attempt at customer centric,you're doomed . As a result I've circled back to Kroger occasionally because they're trying to compete. Today I'm in for great prices on my favorite chuck roast out of Nolan Ryan farms. This is a pretty good store so.... Go! read more

Marketplace is a special type of Kroger offering. This location has excellent quality selection, a great accessible location, and good options. They can improve the checkout experience. I had alcohol in my cart so I went to a checkout lane instead of a self-check lane knowing they would have to check me anyway. They keep only one full service lane open unfortunately. Otherwise the service is high with attendants at all service stations such as the full Boar's Head station. Lovely selection of bread. Large deli area. Gorgeous produce!!! Even a decent selection of vegan options (while not on comp to Whole Foods or Sprouts it will do). I am glad we have this fine grocer in North Dallas area. read more

Your staff needs to be a little more professional. I needed a maintenance person to come clean a spill because I dropped my cut mixed fruit on the floor. Not happy with this store's produce department. They do not label their sweet onions properly and don't take out the moldy onions from their piles. They also had odd onions mixed in the piles with outer growth that would normally be rejected and not marketable at a growers plant. I explained the confusion to the manager about their labeling and he said because their onions were recalled they label them with a number only now, and didn't say the reason. Then why do they still have all the moldy onions in the table bins for sell and not removed. They looked like yellow onions since they were not very big and were not labeled as sweet onions or Vidalias. They were just labeled with a number 1015 and no name. Who even knows what that number means. Too much confusion. It took over 15 mins for the manager to come over just to tell me those were the sweet onions and not the yellow or brown onions. The manager walked away and left all the moldy onions, odd onions and oval onions with sprouts in their table bins to be sold anyways. Mold from these onions will spread to the other onions real quick. From the reviews in their Kroger shopping web it looks like customers who bought sweet onions from this store got moldy right away and complained on their review. I'm worried about what else is bad and not being removed from their produce that needs to be thrown away due to spoilage. Who are they hiring? read more

Super sweet staff! One of the ladies complimented my earrings a few weeks ago and it turned into a nice chat that made my day. I've been coming here a lot lately after work, since it's one of the few places that stays open late these days. We have been living in crazy times in the last couple of months and this Kroger has been doing a great job of trying to keep up with all the craziness. The store is always clean. My appreciation goes out to the good folks who work hard at night trying to keep the store stocked and supplied when people are being panicky. The last time I was here, they had toilet paper! They are doing a great job of keeping the meat section stocked, and they carry Boars Head products (super delicious). This is a big Kroger, so it has some clothing and non perishable items. I love this Kroger because it is big and has everything you need. For one I live no where near this area but this is by far the cleanest Kroger I've shopped in and service is spot on and friendly. I come to this location to grab sushi. I know sounds weird getting sushi from a grocery store but they have a sushi area where sushi is premade that day or they can make it to order with whatever ingredients you want. I also had a sandwich made from the Broar Head Deli. I'm just giving a heads up that when you go just prepare to do more than grocery shop or be prepared to spend much more than what you intended to spend. FYI there is a hot food station as well where you can get meals like fried chicken and mash potatoes or any other side dish of your desire. read more

I usually shop at the Kroger at University and 75, which is small. This Kroger is OMG humungous. I love the meat and seafood counter, the pizza counter, the salad bar, the clothing dept, the toy dept.. .I can't even believe the size of this thing. Reminds me of a small Costco. This location had a great start when they opened but has gone downhill very fast. Top issues are: 1. Staff is unfriendly and at times downright rude. 2. Store has a foul smell. 3. Store does not appear to be cleaned often. Even when shopping at 6am (when they open) there is trash around the isles. It's especially bad in the bakery (self service donut) area. 4. Store rarely has cashiers so only option is to do self checkout. I can't say if this is the case all the time but I usually come in the morning and it's consistently this way in the mornings around 6-9am. read more

Kroger was a good store. They never were as good as Walmart. My visit on 12-4-2022 was terrible. They keep changing the store layout. You have to play hide and seek to find anything. They no longer have floor people to help you. Checkout is painful. No cashiers. Just scan stations. After standing in line for 15 minutes, I was about to abandon my basket and drive to the Frisco HEB. They always have 12 to 18 checkout stations manned and no lines. I could have driven to Frisco and checked out at HEB in the time I wasted with the Kroger "New Normal". I guess the checkers all went to HEB. At the scanning station I had Jalepinos, Avacados, and other produce items that had no bar codes. I had to hunt down the scanner minder to get the item codes. I guess they save a penny each on their Mexican crap by not putting on labels. To add insult to injury, my receipt said "You saved $4.50". I might have if I normally shop at Seven Eleven. Everything was higher than Walmart or HEB. When Walmart moved into the area in the 1990s, Food Lion, Safeway, and Albertsons started closing stores. There is a new sharrif in town. HEB is ten times the grocer than Kroger ever was. Their merger with Albertsons reminds me of Packard Merging with Hudson. Two bads make a Worst!! Do yourself a favor and try the new HEB stores in Frisco and Plano. I can't wait until they open their Melissa and Mckinney locations. As Darwin says: "survival of the fittest". Kroger is getting sicker every day. I am taking my Kroger courtesy card off my keychain. read more

We shopped at the Kroger- Stonebridge (Hwy 380 / Lake Forest) in McKinney Friday evening after 8pm.. The store selection and cleanliness was good, and ADA electric cart was handy due to recent foot surgery. We got two shopping carts full, however, we were VERY DISSAPOINTED that ONLY Self-Checkout / bagging was available, and it went very slowly. (No regular cashier /bagging stations were open) We were told self-checkout only is "normal". If so, it is ok for a few items, but we will NOT be shopping there anymore.!! PS - Once the new HEB McKinney grocery store opens then Kroger's customer service /check-outs and prices in the area will need to improve to compete. This is based upon experience as a Kroger Rewards member moving from Houston recently. read more

I don't really have any other complaints about my local Kroger. HOWEVER, one employee in particular has now rubbed me the wrong way 3 times. Im always at Kroger on the same days at the same times and this one older lady is always in a Sour mood making judgmental facial expressions whenever I or my children are in her presence. I get it, Im half dressed in my workout gear which may make an older woman think unkindly of me, but when I spill water and ask you politely for some paper towels so I can clean up my own mess so no other shoppers slip, do not give me a withering once over and return to flippantly hand me the paper towels. On another occasion she starred maliciously at me while my children and I walked passed, and a third time she waited .2 seconds to scold my son the instant he touched a clothing rack in an attempt to surprise his sister. Does this lady have no grandchildren? Is she completely intolerant of children? What is her deal!!? read more

Everytime we go we get rude service or comments about my cart. I try to stay out of stores due to at risk individuals at home so when I go I stock up as much as possible on pantry staples and frozen goods. I don't need sighs, grunts, or to be told "You bought the entire store," with an eyeroll, or asked (yelled at) "Is your cart empty yet?!" by the cashier. I know times are wierd and I try to be respectful knowing how hard front line workers jobs are and try to not be problematic, even though I know I have a large order. I get in and get out as fast as possible, mask on and up. I have been made to feel awful twice now for simply trying to feed my family and limit my exposure to the public. read more

When I arrived they said "We are running behind. We called you an hour ago. Come back in 24 hours." I was already right there. Had waited for days. So did my own shopping. When I walked in and grabbed a cart, a young man sitting off to the side finished visiting with a co-worker then said to me "HEY, bring that over here so I can sterilize it." (Hey. Bring that over here? Really? NO. I used my own sanitizer and went on my way.) Not a very well thought out -or polite- approach. (Whole Foods has people standing at entrance with a sterilized cart "at the ready." ) I know we are all adjusting to this new way of life and people are on edge. This too shall pass. Grace needs to be shown. But, Kroger, at-least be polite. read more

Well I get there is a pandemic going on and all but we ordered groceries for pick up when the app told there was an appointment available. Our pickup date was pushed back a day (totally understandable) and they would call us for sure the next day. Well of course we never got called so we called and were told it would be another day. OK I understand and get it. We finally get the OK your order is ready (after we called). Well after a 2 plus hour wait we get our list of what they don't have. Yeah 80% of what we ordered they don't have. Why don't they call and say "he we are out of 80% so do you want to cancel?" What a joke. Did not come back even when I asked her if she could please wait on me. Very rude. Then she said she lost my insurance. I'm transferring all my prescriptions; never use this pharmacy. Well that didn't take long... A couple of days less that a month from grand opening, and it feels like the normal Kroger stock problems exist. Free Friday item was not available because they got the wrong item, but it should be in next week or so they say. One of the weekly BOGO sales with a big advertisement in the vestibule had only one of the "select varieties" available with blank spaces where others would be. Feels like typical bait and switch tactics when management doesn't want to get too much of anything that they think is too good of a deal and that people might actually want it. At least the gas prices are still lower than the nearby competition. Today wasn't worth the extra few miles drive except for the gas price. read more

If you want to have a Super Rude & disrespectful encounter with pharmacy staff.. this is a great place to go. I don't know what's going on at this pharmacy, but the staff made my husband feel bad for scheduling his booster shot. And he is the nicest person . They grilled him with questions and he qualifies in every way. This is very disappointing that they are treating customers and patients this way, and they owe him an apology. I can always count on this Kroger to have quality meats and vegetables. One thing that was different on today's visit was the quality of staff. I normally go to the self checkout line, but noticed the in person registers were empty. The cashier and the bagger had such great hospitality, professional communication, and helpfulness. They asked me how my day was, cracked some jokes, and offered help outside. I offer this comment in 100% positivity, both cashier and bagger had physical or developmental delays. I want to thank Kroger for such great quality of services as well as implementing inclusion with your staff. Your actions speak louder than prices! read more

I decided to go back, since it is close to my house. MUCH better! While I still won't buy clothes, pharmacy goods or decorative items there, I found the produce to be very good quality and some ready to eat foods that were also good. I placed an online pick up order, they called to reschedule my order for the next day. The next day I picked up my order and it was wrong. Never got an email offering alternative s. This place is messed up. First, the bakery switched to La Brea bread which is mushy and full of preservatives. Ever heard of crusty bread??? The deli does not have pancetta at the counter. Good grief....hello culinary staple. They stock 50 varieties of on thing and leave our others that people look for. After shopping here I usually have to finish my trip at Sprouts and Market Street. Lack luster customer service. Kroger just doesn't care. You mail corporate and the ignore you. LAME. Overall this Kroger was great when it opened, slowly had issues as to be expected. However the quality of products and service has not improved. Employees are not friendly most of the time. Management staff is inexperienced it seems so at times staff requirements see to be not looked at. Checkers and baggers are not training appropriately. Grocery goods are not stocked properly. Date turn on items is an issue as many times I have picked expired date codes. Overall Kroger in general needs to step up their game. I live close by and I am willing to now driver 5-10 more miles to shop at a better grocery store. So sad Kroger! Improvements are needed. read more
