This store was amazing when they opened. Now, it's messy, many times I have to go across to Meijer because I can't reach the products at Kroger. They don't bother to pull products forward on the shelf when need be so they can be reached without having to clImb a shelf. I am also very disappointed in their lack of product. Today around 7pm I had gotten a crunchy California sushi roll and it was the most horrid thing that I had ever consumed. It tasted like it had been sitting there for days on end. I knew I should have never purchased it in the first place. I will be calling the health inspector to check this out I am this upset and worried about the quality of their sushi. This Kroger has been here a while. Probably the past 12 years. They need to get the deli counter in order. The staff is slow and not in a hurry to help. They don't listen to what you ask for and you have to repeat it several times. Extremely annoying. Sometimes they use the number system, sometimes they do not. They FINALLY got some presliced deli meats but they are often out. The bakery is so so. The names goods are good and fresh. Again, there is a problem with the staff being knowledgeable and helpful. I often feel like I'm bothering them. And, as you will see in the pics, this is an example of their abilities. Like seriously, my child could do better than this. The other thing that irritates me is that the recycling center is in the very back of the store. So you have to push your cart all the way to the back of the store. Not very convenient. It smells so bad in the back of the store because of this. It is enough to make you vomit. The machines break down quite a bit too. So right in the middle of returning bottles you're stuck standing there for an hour. Very frustrating. read more

We ordered a sheet cake for my parents 90th birthdays. We had a big party for them and have used Kroger quite a bit in the past for other family events so we were confident, we would have a beautiful cake (although not this location). The cake was delicious but decorated so poorly and was such a disappointment that I would never go back. I called and spoke to someone in the bakery department, who said that their cake decorator was new and didn't have much experience. I felt that if that was disclosed to me, I would've probably gone elsewhere as this was a very important occasion to us. She took a lot of time on the phone with us to talk about what we wanted, and it did not execute at all... honestly, if she would've just went down the cake aisle and taken a cake decorating kit that they sell she could've done a better job. The lettering was block and amateurish and uneven, and the color was supposed to be gold, but it looked like mustard. Bakery is not reliable. I ordered something online on a weds for a Sunday pick up. Had a confirmation and everything and they couldn't find it. It apparently slipped through the cracks. This is the second time that's ever happened to me. So the third time most recent, I called and talked to the manager to place an order over the phone five days before I need it and I was told they're completely booked and won't be able to help me at all. The manager Tracy in customer service needs to be let go. She has zero business interacting with paying customers on a professional basis and possibly needs anger management training and support finding another job. Any time I've visited the customer care desk (2x in 3-4 years) she escalates whatever the situation is by yelling, belittling and using extremely aggressive language. She seems extremely unstable and corporate needs to be held responsible for continuing to allow her to function so poorly in this position. read more

Utter nonsense. I've attempted to purchase items from the deli counter. I have had zero luck. Today I went in at 11:48 a.m. and with zero other customers at the counter being waited on, one employee walked right in front of me twice with no acknowledgement of my existence while the other poor soul was at the back row of the slicers slicing processed meats like she was working in a sweatshop and wasn't allowed to look up from her assigned task. After waiting about 2-3 minutes, went to the store on 21 and Card and the deli was busier but I was acknowledged immediately and got my items in a timely manner. This store can do everyone a favor and close the deli counter- on the surface it appears they have no desire to run it to begin with. But if you must go to the Deli Counter,Come prepared with a squirt gun or a loaf of French bread to toss in the employees direction to get the employees attention. read more

Go Krogering at the newest & best grocery store in the area! You can find almost everything you need at any time. Extensive gourmet meal area, deli, seafood, bakery, they even have a cheese store with a huge variety of cheeses! Great selection of produce - they even sell cactus leaves & tomatillos! Every single employee I've encountered here is extremely friendly & helpful. Even though this is a new store, it's never dirty. Staff keeps this place immaculate. Huge selection of wine, beer & liquor. The seasonal area is much larger than the old location. They also have drive thru pharmacy, & a huge baby center (everything you need for baby including furniture). I look forward going here every Sunday for my weekly Grocery shopping ! read more

The staff is awesome, they're all so friendly and helpful when ever I need anything! They also have a really great floral section,fresh beautiful flowers all the time! Everything is so organized, the place it's self, it's so clean and so fresh! I seriously love love love this Kroger's!!!! Kroger has gotten really weird with their prices on a lot of items, I understand sales, but why is everyday price of an item HALF at another store... 1. Here is a prime example: Starbucks bagged coffee at Kroger: $10.99, sometimes on sale, sometimes not. Meijer's regular price: $5.99 NOT ON SALE! I'm not playing coupons games, just sell me a product in a straightforward manner. 2. At every Kroger I have been to lately there is always stuff stacked everywhere and it's hard to get around in the store when you are trying to shop. It is so obnoxious trying to maneuver around pallets and employees trying to stock shelves and do ten different things at once. Stores use to stock shelves in off hours/at night so customers didn't have to battle pallets. (*This Kroger on 23 is clean, but some of the Kroger's in the area are really need updating, repair and a good cleaning..especially the on on 21 mile and Garfield and Canal, yuck.) Me and cousins were joking around in aisle 11 where the drinks were placed and some random manager lady came over with her shopping cart and started yelling at us for joking around. She told us there's no joking around in the store and told us to stop messing around or we're going to her "office". Another customer had to step in and tell her off and defend us that all we were doing was joking around and laughing as we point at the pie and sushi stashed in drink fridge. She should not be working in any position that involves her interacting with other, or maybe she is just racist. I attempted to return a pickup order from another store here because my coupons did not come off, and after calling management and basically saying what an idiot I am to my face among other things, she told me to return to the original store. I went back 4 times last week for an item that was on the buy 5 save 5... the item was never in stock until it magically appeared on the day after the sale... For being the first Marketplace store in the state of Michigan, the store is very nice. Lots of room. Large aisles and not everything is placed on top of each other. There's a Starbucks and a milk shake station for kids to enjoy. A nice cafe area to drink your coffee and read the newspaper in peace and quiet. The deli offers Boars Head products as well as Murrays cheeses. Large bakery and Sushi station. The prices of the clothing can be on the steep side but lots of clearance racks. I would say the quality is higher than Walmart/Meijer brand. I didn't have a chance to experience the Fred Meyer Jewelry because it was closed at the time of my visit but look forward to coming back soon. Very large section to choose from. The deli kiosk and digital gas prices in the vestibule made my shopping experience much faster. I didn't have to stand in line in the deli to wait to order. I just ordered when I walked into the store and grabbed my lunch meat before I left in the designated Kiosk Pickup spot. The digital gas prices helped not having to go to the gas station to look at gas prices before deciding if it was cheap enough. Lots of cart coralles in the parking lot. Staff was on their toes and very helpful throughout the store. Although their was quite a few amigo carts I would say the store isn't very elderly friendly. The store is huge and some older people said it's hard to walk all the way thru without getting tired and sore. Same with children. read more

We have tried using Kroger's delivery service (Provided by Instacart) several times. What a complete waste of time. The first order was delayed several times (text notification) only to be cancelled by the company without a reason given. The second order was delayed several days. When it finally arrived, half of the order was substituted with completely different items. Finally, our last order (placed over a week ago) was delayed via text 5 times before being cancelled by the company again. Do yourself a favor and do not try using this service. It is not worth the aggravation. We waited up until midnight for our 7pm delivery that was repeatedly delayed. My wife waited 2 hours on the phone with customer service to be told nothing would be done and we would not get our order. What a horrible company. read more

Today around 3:30pm at Kroger on 23 and Hayes, I was faced with obvious homophobia from two cashiers at lane 7 and 8. I did not catch their names, I was in deep shook at that moment. As I approach lane 8 I'm greeted to both cashiers staring me down, laughing and turning back to each other whispering. One had long red hair mid 20s, other one had to be in her 40s. I brush it off and continue to the 40 somethings lane. She expressed that my presents simply were not welcomed with clear signs of physical dismissal. The experience made me so uncomfortable, I chose to go in a different lane, which caused me to checkout longer than needed. As I'm walking away their cackle's grew louder. Usually, Kroger is a pleasant experience but this moment did not sit right with me and I want Kroger to be represented in a better light. There's a lot going on in this krogers. Starbucks, grocery shopping, cafe with couches, clothes and shoe department, a huge jewelry store, pharmacy, a meeting room used for book clubs and neighborhood group meetings, a gas station....did I miss anything? My favorite thing about this krogers, or any Kroger's for that matter, is the "manager special" isle. It's where all the dinged, smashed, dented or less than perfect items end up. As a family of 7, this isle saves me tons! I've gotten name brand items for as low as $.29, boxes of cereal for free (after using coupons), 60 count boxes of fruit snacks for $1.29 and 24 count trays of cupcakes made in the bakery for my sons birthday for $2.99. Just to throw out a few examples. Oh and Stormtrooper and TMNT masks that retail for $12 for $2.49 each! But that's not even the best of it. Once I bought a smashed box of Special K cereal for $.99. The box advertised a chance to win a FitBit AND a Surface PC. Do you see where this is going?!? I got home unpacked my groceries, and noted the said instant win on the front of the box. I giggled to myself and then, not even wanting the cereal at the time, I opened the packed. Right as rain, I see the winning ticket. I kid you not, I won BOTH items. And 5 weeks later they were in my hands. Oh- back to Kroger's. I love this location. The employees are super friendly, baggers are always helpful with smiles on their faces, and my kids get free cookies from the bakery department every time we go. Added bonus, bottle return area is always very clean and they have ample return bins, you never wait long to get your return slips. read more

Considering all they did was move their store location across the street, this location is 10x better than the old one. The new age of Kroger is here and it looks incredible at the 23 Mile Kroger. The aisles are nice and clean and organized! Also, the selection is second to none! This location is so vast and large that they even have clothing and a Starbucks. If I lived closer to this one, I would be here all the time for my grocery shopping! read more

This is one of the nicer & larger locations. There are however newer ones with the food courts and other amenities. Overall its a nice location with a bank, starbucks, and jewelry store inside. Most of the workers are friendly and the store is in a safe area. read more

Visited this store last night (this is our regular store we have been shopping at for several years.) We are both handicapped and the later the time the better for us because there are not enough handicapped parking spaces to go around. Later also means we can park near the entrance of the store. We entered the store with 2 shopping carts as this was our main weekly shopping trip. As we round around the store my girlfriend said you know there are no checkouts open except the self checkout. Our baskets were full and I suggested to leave them and walk out, she said lets just finish. As we waited and started to checkout it took forever because we both have back and knee problems. There is no place to set your bags except a small shelf and the machines kept shutting down, saying remove the item from the bag and scan. Then the attendant had to come and reset the thing. My point is self checkout is not the place to checkout with large orders and it also does not account for anyone that is handicapped. We are pondering shopping at another store such as Meijer. I am also going to complained to the state about the handicapped concern. One attendant said she would open an isle for us but they were not left any drawers. Also listening to the people around us many were just as unhappy as we were. read more

This new Kroger Marketplace is like a Meijer, Target and mini Ninos combined. It's super impressive, and even on a full parking lot day, you will find everything you (and more) with ease. First I was happy to see in the store they have several price scanners and directories with store layout maps. For a 'grocery' store thats unheard of. The random perks are a Fred Meyer jewelry store, clothing section (With sketchers shoes), large homewares area with towels, dishes and rubbermaid storage bins, and a Starbucks coffee. There is also a Charter One bank. I went on a Saturday afternoon during peak hours just to see how insane it would be. I was pleasantly surprised that with the bright lights and extra wide aisles it didn't feel crowded. I was treated to wine sampling and cheese sampling after hearing it announced overhead. There is a great bakery area with fresh bagels that look better then anything you'd find at dunkin donuts thats for sure. That area is in the front by Starbucks, which is also home to a huge flower section. Anyone who frequents Kroger knows they have bouquets, but this was a whole literal wall by price point with floor stands also. Smelled great and the flowers at kroger from experience can last a while if you take care of them. There is an olive bar with hummus (nice!) and an impressive cheese area. We're talking imports galore you never see at your typical kroger or Meijer. They had cheeses I've seen at the Cheese Haus in Frankenmuth so that's awesome. I also asked for help a few times, to which the employees actually seemed too really care and write happily to walk me the right way, and not just point and hope I found it. All in all is like to say you need to go here. If its not your local kroger go anyways just at least once. It's worth it and you will find its one step shopping. read more

Kroger thinks they are the only game in the neighborhood and slowly but surely finding out they are not! Refuse to shop at 21 mile and Card anymore! Pretty much make you self checkout because they only open one or two of the manned checkouts, then the self check outs constantly accuse you of stealing, not bagging, alcohol is a complete joke might as well be manned! I still miss the little Kroger store at 23 and Van Dyke. This new store is huge! You can't just run in and get the things you need in a hurry. With closing 2 stores and only having one I feel the employees can't keep up with the stock. Not sure if it is employees fault or what. The sushi is fabulous! However, the fruit and vegetables section needs work. Not very fresh. I rather go to Randazzo's down the street for that. The staff are very friendly and helpful with trying to find things.
