Honestly, such a great grocery store. Great variety of options. Produce is great 99/100 times. Lots of organic and natural options throughout the store. The parking lots are usually pretty full, but you almost never have to wait in a long line at checkout. They are one of the few stores that actually utilize having multiple checkout lanes by having them manned and open. The management have been great to work with when there was a minor incident in the parking lot. The ladies in the bakery are really sweet and offer my kids sugar cookies. This is our home Kroger, and I love it. You may have some trouble here finding someone to help you, since it seems they are a little understaffed. We love this Kroger because they have the shopping carts with the holders for car seats, and the store is always cleaner than the ones in Louisville. A guy (his name was Anthony, long beard, with a piercing) was so so helpful to me the other day while I was trying to pick out cheeses for a specific event. He seemed very knowledgeable and was willing to come over and help me figure out what I needed without me even having to flag someone down. I have never gotten expired or rotten food here like I have at the Walmart in town, and with the exception of food recalls, my in-season produce is always in stock and easy to find. read more

I'm from the west coast... and have loved Fred Meyer stores for many years. Problem is I come to Shelbyville Kroger with my checkbook and my new temporary Drivers License issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet in Frankfort 7 days ago. I shopped the Shelbyville Kroger for 1/2 hour or so and went to the checkout line and they would not recognize my temporary drivers license issued in Frankfort. The checkout clerk went to her lead person who could not use common sense and accept my check. Very upset here... not everybody carries plastic!!! Doesn't all that fish and shrimp look delicious? It looks fresh and ready to go. The lay out ain't much different that what I remember. Then again I don't shop at lot lot per se. Note to self. It's always good to come here on a full stomach. Last time I came here for bread and I was hungry. I left with steak, asparagus, potato, ham, twinkies, lamb, chips, milk, candy of sorts, party plates, wine and 2 cases of water. Not even sure where I was going with all that. Kroger Marketplace is the newish replacement for the old Kroger Store. It is huge compared to most standard Kroger stores. One employee said it is the size of 5 football fields put together (and I think that's probably true). Good features: 1. Much bigger produce area 2. Outstanding fresh deli with products you won't find in most stores 3. Expanded meat department that includes fresh fish and meats packaged by the butcher for you upon request 4. Large ethnic food row that includes Chinese, Thai, German, British, East Indian, Polish, Kosher, and others 5. Large organic food section 6. Bulk dispensers with legumes and grains 7. all the other normal grocery products 8. Efficient pharmacy and large selection of OTC products 9. Varied selection of housewares, dishes, pans, linens, baby items, toys, storage solutions, and furniture. 10. Sufficient number of mortorized shopping carts for those who can't walk the massive store 11. Plenty of check out lanes to keep the lines short. Poor features:1. Most checkers are o.k. but choose your lane by who the bagger is (not all baggers understand the fine art of keeping raw meat separate from fresh vegetables, or that you don't put cans on top of fresh tomatoes, apples, etc.) 2. It isn't a great store to quickly run in for one item because it's just too big. Try this store, I think you'll be surprised at the variety. read more

This place is huge with lots and lots of choices. The floors where clean and the staff friendly. I will be back again soon. We stopped by the deli and they have a huge selection of rice rolls and sushi. The fresh steaks and seafood has so much to pick from. read more

This is my go-to close by grocery store. I'm an Aldi girl at heart, but not having one locally means I have to do my in between shopping at Kroger. I'm in here about once a week or so. The store itself is always clean and seems to run efficiently. There's always friendly workers around willing to help you and I pretty much always get greeted by at least one employee. This Kroger has groceries and clothing. They also have a fully functioning pharmacy. We have our prescriptions there and it's great too. Incompetent employees. Multiple times I have placed a pickup order only to not receive part of my order. No option to refund unless you drive back to the store and go in person to the customer service desk. Defeats the purpose of pickup. No apology or effort to make right. System is almost always "down" and employees usually confused or apathetic. Meat department employees perpetually annoyed. Employees inside the store are few and far between. There is one sweet lady who works the register who is always kind, helpful, and efficient. read more

95 percent of the staff who work at Kroger are so hateful and rude. I tried to ask for help and got sent to 4 different areas before I gave up and the hot food to purchase you can never get anyone to serve you and I have asked Ella on 2 different visits and she always says that's not her job just always mean and the older lady with short hair is worse then her. Kroger definitely needs new staff. read more

My Kroger of choice as they are oft well stocked. I've noticed other Krogers in the area just run out of things (especially in produce) and don't seem to care... That is not the case in Shelbyville! Honestly, this store has it all... an extensive Pet Section, Bakery, Deli, Salad and Sushi Bar, Cheese Counter and Olive Bar! There's more housewares than most department stores, as well as personal care, clothing, and a Pharmacy. This branch has a Community Clinic, Jewelry Store, and Starbucks inside, and a Wine and Spirits annex next door. I especially like the Bulk Foods and Health/Organic Goods sections, which are very reasonably stocked. I've been seeking out some rather odd things since I moved to Kentucky and am happy to say I've never not found it at Shelbyville Kroger! read more

DON'T BUY FLOWERS HERE!!! I bought 1 orchid in October and it is still alive and thriving almost 5 months later with same flowers. Bought 2 others separately in Jan and Feb and they were moldy and died within 1 week. I asked for a refund on 2nd one (expensive!) and they refused and were quite rude about it. Looking at others on shelf yesyerday most were sick and ready to die. read more

Someone recently asked me "Wal-Mart or kroger?" My response, "Kroger, hands down!" Silly maybe, but would you like to know why? Are the regular prices always cheaper? No. The sale prices are superb! What makes me love Kroger? The customer service. Truly. My boys were home from school sick. I needed to put creamer on my husband's clicklist. I just needed my coffee. They were able to add the creamer last minute and greeted us with get well soon balloons. It was so sweet and generous! It made the boys feel better and brightened our day! Not only that, but when we can't find something or need help... There is always someone willing to help. So thank you Krogers, for keeping such a good team! read more

A wonderful store, but the meat department so called meat grinder broke for 2 to 3 weeks as per the butcher, just because they didnt want to grind Briskets, too much work. went to Middletown and in 15 minutes had it packaged and ready to go.If it takes 2 to 3 weeks to repair a grinder in a meat department with as much meat Krogers sell, they would not be in business very long. read more

This bakery has some of the best baked goods of many of the others we've been to. I love the home baked breads and especially the doughnuts when you can get them right after they bring them out. They will also bake a cake for that special occasion as long as you get you order in early. They are yummy. read more

The employees are so sweet and happy it made me wish I lived in Shelbyville, so I could visit the store again and again to chat with them. The ladies at the deli counter were so inviting it felt like they were long lost buds welcoming me home after a long journey. They were so friendly and accommodating to a California girl wanting to try the many types of deli meats not available in my part of Cali. I had always heard about southern hospitality but thought it was a myth, but the deli ladies dissolved that myth with their sweet disposition. Their southern hospitality is refreshing as sweet tea on a hot summer's day. One of the best Kroger stores I have ever been in. In addition to food and kitchen items, they sell clothing, household items, school supplies and so much more. It is very organized and prices are hard to beat, especially with the liquor store right next door! read more

What can you say? I live in Shelbyville and lucky to have a super store here. Always immaculate and organized. My only complaint is they sometimes run out of stuff especially sale items. A few of the service desk girls can be surly if the place is busy but for the most part they are helpful. read more

Aside from putting cold goods with warm goods (when your groceries have a 25 minute drive home this is horrible), breads being smashed and cashiers making weird comments "that baby is so cute, it looks stoned." (Not my baby and true story, I was speechless) Due to the virus I started shopping here to avoid Louisville and the craziness. The people of Shelbyville are nice and seemed to have clear heads. After the mask mandate this changed. Several weeks in people started to not wear masks again. Saw 10 people in the store with no mask (2 being employees talking with their masks on their chin) witnessed a manager try to humiliate/shame a father in front of his kids. Prompting a employee to yell "maybe he can't breathe!" The managers body language made it clear he was out to shame this man in front of his kids. Shame on him! Taking my business elsewhere! Maybe the folks in Mt. Washington will be nicer! read more
