On April 13,2018 a new roof was put on my home by Kroll construction, 29017 Ford Road, Garden City, mi 48135 (phone number: 734 422 4840. I paid $12,955.00 for the new roof. On September 20, 2018, I woke up to a water leak in my kitchen ceiling. Apparently the roof had leaked, went through the attic insulation, through the ceiling and a ceiling beam. I called Kroll construction, as I had never had a leak even before I paid $12,955.00 for a new roof (BTW, they wanted to charge me $25,500.00 for the roof. I will get to that story in another review). The office worker I spoke with told me I would need to speak with the installer. The installer called me and could not look at the roof until Sunday September 23,2018. The installer came over on a Sunday after he refused to set a time frame when I asked him. He showed up with a caulking gun to fix a problem that he did not diagnose yet. He went on the roof. He said he caulked where it wouldn't matter and basically he does not know what's the problem or where the leak is coming from. He also said he can't talk about who is responsible for the damage inside. I have called Kroll construction several times asking to speak with the owner. I have left several messages and I have not received a return call. It appears the lack of quality workmanship has caused a leak into my kitchen, causing damage to the attic, insulation and kitchen ceiling. I had my bathroom remodeled and I have to say that it was truly a learning experience. Robert was my salesman and he has extremely good taste in remodeling and selling his vision, but has terrible follow up ethics, as soon as the job is sold you wont hear from him unless you call him. Daniel the installer is amazing, his work is phenomenal, it was a lot of miscommunication between the electrician and the installer. I also didn't get the shower door we originally picked out, nor did they put a towel bar in the shower like we originally discussed, Robert came up with the design and I was very enthusiastic about the project, but if the person that designs something isn't around to tell the installers what his vision is, it's an exercise in futility!!! read more

A gentleman knocked on my door and asked if I was in the market for a new roof, or any upgrades to my home. I told him the only thing I might need done is new gutters. He asked if I would be home the next day for a quote and I was available. He then asked if I was married and if my husband would be home. Yes to married and no to my husband being home the next day. He then told me that I wouldn't be able to get a quote if my husband wasn't also there. I explained to him that I was recently married (I'm in my early 50's), I am the homeowner, and my husband is not on the title. I also explained that he owns his own home on the other side of the state. The guy tells me he thinks this is going to be a problem. He calls Kroll and explains the situation. The woman he talked to informed him that they wouldn't be able to come out for a quote if the husband isn't there, but said she'd run it past the owners. I never heard back from Kroll Construction. It's just as well because I would NEVER hire a sexist company like Kroll that chooses to discriminate against women. I've worked very hard for everything I have, am so blessed to be happily married, but I also do not need my man's permission to put new gutters on my house. I made an appointment with Kroll Construction for 6-4-20 @9am. I was informed that it will be 9am-9:30am which was fine. I had to contact the office at 9:44am to inform that my scheduled appointment didn't arrive. She got a hold of him and we spoke. He stated to me that when they came out yrs ago that I wasn't able to finance and if I was trying to finance again. That's not the point a person situation changes and we had an appointment. So with that being said I'm going elsewhere is what I stated to him and thank you. I called the office to inform her of what just was stated over the phone call with the salesman. She didn't know what to say. But I did let her know that it wasn't going to be financed and the company missed out on a sale. I ended by saying have a wonderful day and she said stay safe. Horrible experience Replaced roof, sent bill and we paid it promptly. Soon after started receiving harassing phone calls saying they made a mistake and we needed to pay them another $1500. Threatened me saying their attorney would be contacting me. What the heck??? You sent me a bill and I paid it. My wife and I had Kroll come out to quote a few window we needed replaced. Scott, the salesman who met with us, gave us the usual song and dance, and ended up giving us a quote comparable to what we had received from other companies. Scott offered us a final price, that beat everything we had received so far, if we were to sign up that day and put down a deposit, to save him from having to come out again. We agreed, cancelled the final company we were having quote the job, signed all the paperwork, and cut him a check. Cut to the next day, when I call the office with a few lingering questions my wife had. The woman I spoke with the office gave me the number of a guy names Josh, who I called, and who seemed completely confused that we had received a quote. After he answered my questions, he told me he had to check a couple things, and that he would call me back before 6. I received no such call. Cut to the day after, when I receive a phone message from Brian Kroll, asking me to call him. I return the call, and leave a message that is (as of 5 days later) has not been returned. Someone from the company did, however, call my wife, tell her that they would not be able to honor the price that they quoted us, but that they would be happy to come out and take another afternoon of our time to re-quote the job. On the plus side, they did send our check back, so there's that. If you call them, I would strongly recommend making sure that the person they send to quote the job is, you know, I qualified to do so. read more

Buyer beware. These people pretend to pull you in as though you're in the Kroll family. Don't believe anything they tell you. They are going to charge you more on the back end after they claim it cost them more than the estimate. According to Dave who's supposed to show up as a contractor. I never saw him and when I asked, his crew looked at each other and laughed. They didn't finish what I asked them to do. I hired them at the end of May '21 for repairs that needed to be done by August 1st. to avoid being dropped from insurance. They didn't finish until late August, or so they say. Dave is just the henchman bill collector that pretends he knows what he's looking at and tells me that's their finished product. It wasn't what I asked for. They use your information not to check your credit but open up a credit line on you. Same as cash for a year and he called twice a week whining they need to be paid. End result they nailed into rotten wood, charged me for extra wood but refused to produce the itemized bill, nor get my approval. Dave explains they do it all the time. Just added 1200 to the original bid. Liberty Mutual inspected and still dropped me in October. Spent an additional 1800 to have someone straighten it up. These people aren't worth your time or money. If some one by the name of Trevor shows up, that's where it begins. You'll never hear from him again. He's just there to sell you the world and agree with everything while writing a vague bill to get started. That's it. Don't do it! read more

High pressure salesman. They sent out two men to do a four man job. They took the men off of my job to work on another house. They told me that the job would take three days,but it took them six weeks to complete. NO communication between Kroll and myself about any increases in the total cost of the job. read more

Kroll Construction did Aluminium Siding for my home last year. During the winter, the aluminium siding got ripped off. We called them left a message. A person came to take a look at it sometime around February when it was still cold and snowy. He said he will order the replacement and will be back in a few weeks when the snow had cleared. April no one called or bothered to show up. I called them and they had absolutely no clue and I had to re-initiate the whole process again with him. I had this person come home and re-evaluate and he mentioned that he needed to order the parts as the person who reviewed it the last time left the company and had not done anything. This happened in April. I called Kroll construction towards the 3rd week of May to find out what was happening, no body answered left them a message. To this date, they have not bothered to respond to my calls. One of the worst companies in my opinion. Their customer service is almost zero or negligible. It's like they just don't care because they have collected the money for the service, though it is still under warranty. read more

I would not recommend this company. A gentleman knocked on my door asking to quote and I asked them to quote gutters. He was very friendly but asked if my "husband" was there which is annoying and sexiest, I don't need a "husband" to quote gutters. The next day, the gentleman who came to quote my job was pressuring me to get the business that day and when I told him I had to get another quote to get double check, he repeatedly ensured I would not find a better price. Called for an estimated on 10/13/20 and was given an appt for the next day. I left work early for an appt time for 5pm to 5:30pm. I was called by a man who said his contractor called in sick @ 3:21pm and that he doesn't give estimates for Windows, Gutters but he could give me a virtual estimate for my roof. I was told that I would receive a call back with an estimated within a few hours and now it's 7:15pm. Lets just say I won't be using this company. My Mother has a big bay window from Kroll Construction. The bay widow leaks air terribly. She has to sit wrapped up in blankets because she freezes. They've come out but say " There's nothing that they can do." It's been years, and she doesn't want to make a fuss. So rather then press the issue, she'll just suffer and Freeze. When I brought up canceling the appointment he seemed relived like I was taking a large weight off of his shoulders. Had a roof done by Kroll Constuction and had a chimney leak from the time the roof was done. We did have a slight trickle prior to having our roof being done by Kroll-we assumed the leak was coming from below ground. Upon having our house waterproofed and a water test performed we found the chimney leak is coming from the flashing around the chimney. Called Kroll to honor the warranty-it's only been 3 years. They have a service charge on warranty work of $150. I have never heard of such a thing. We are so disappointed, had we known they have a service charge for warranty work we never would have had them do our roof. The service department did offer to bring it down to $75 and we declined, I do not even want them around my house now. They explained that the past 3 winters have been hard and they've had so many roofs not hold up that they have to charge the service charge-as they are going out on call-backs everyday. Really, that just sounds like poor workmanship to me if they have to redo jobs every day. I would never recommend Kroll to anyone. We are also disappointed in ourselves for falling for the sales pitch that was given to us. read more

Tried to have them come out just to give an estimate on my roof and gutters. The night before they were to come out, the guy who was supposed to come out called and gave me a verbal estimate, without even seeing the job. The number sounded good. I asked that they put it in writing, but they refused. The next day they called to say the reason they could not put it in writing was because the price could increase the following week. Since they would not have the work done by then, they could not honor an estimated price unless I signed a contract immediately. That made absolutely no sense. The guy basically tried to bully me into signing a contract I had not even SEEN, without putting any estimate in writing. Glad I figured out who these people were before I did anything with them. He immediately gave the impression he did not want to be there at my home and even went so far as to make negative comments about my home. In addition, he was very short with his answers to my questions, and actually just an unpleasant guy and I absolutely cannot believe they would have a sales rep with that type of poor attitude representing the company. So unfortunate. Yet their poor service prompted me to go with Anderson Windows even though they were slightly more expensive! I have already left a message for one of the owners to call me back regarding my horrible experience. I would be surprised if they do! read more

Was the worst experience I have ever had with this company. Got a quote on my 2 bathrooms which are quite small. Sales rep told me at the time of sign up it would take around 3 to 4 weeks to complete this remodel. First you have to give up your garage for their equipment to do the job and store the new products. So I gave up my life for 4 months (the entire summer) for dust and mess and still am not happy with results. I am tired of them coming and saying they will fix a problem and then when they said they came out to repair - made things worse Was told I did not have to pay until I was satisfied but was forced into paying or was told their legal department would be contacting me. Chrome Windows has the worst warranty in the business eibach pro Windows 8 years ago and they say the only had one year labor warranty nobody has problems with their windows in one year 8 years later my front window develop a leaky seal and I had trouble with my side window they charge $125 to come out to the house and they want $166 for another glass in my bay window to fix the Leaky seal so I just bought Wallside Window for my bay window they have a lifetime warranty or 35 year warranty and they do not charge for somebody to come out and fix whatever is wrong with your windows I will never deal with Kroll windows again I wish I knew this before I bought my windows from Kroll I wish I would have spent a couple dollars more on my windows and got a life got a 35 year warranty and not having to pay a penny for them to come out to fix the problem read more

Needed some outside work done on our house (windows, front door, removing rotted wood and covering with sidling and gutters). My husband wanted one company to do everything so Kroll was the first company to come out price did not seem bad and said things would start probably in a few weeks. So first thing done 6 wks later was install front door the people installing were very nice. After they left noticed light shining through in several areas and door was not caulked. Called to get them to come back. Nothing. Windows were suppose to be installed next but because of a mistake in ordering the siding trim work was done next. They again were nice but because of being behind they were here several days and some days only one person was here by the end of the day because the others had to leave for other jobs. Note all the work is done by outside companies no one came with KRoll on there truck. Trim job was rushed and sucks can't stand to look at columns in front. Windows finally came (signed paperwork end of April now end of June) and I came home and looked up and 2 bedroom windows did not open (wrong windows ordered) who would put those in ( what if we had a fire how do you get out). Husband called and Talked to one of the Kroll's said new windows would be ordered rush. Reminded them about door issues and that gutters were not in. That day door person returned, gutters people showed up. Waited 3 weeks for rush windows to come in then another week to get them installed. So now end of July. Door issue most were fixed some not. We were told that it is a manufacturing thing and there is nothing they can do to seal these areas. Hey we go a new door unit to stop drafts not make more. Tell customers about issue with the door you ordered when you come out to measure. Customer may decide to get a different door instead of being pissed off. When gutter people went around house to show down spouts and how we wanted them extended. They said they were not told to do sunroom gutters. Our paper work said all gutters and we had talked to sales man as to doing sunroom, told us it was included. Gutter guys called sales man he called me and said he heard we were trying to get extra gutters put on with out paying more. No we discussed this when you were here. Well he did not remember VERY rude said finally said Ok to all gutters. Most of the people who came here to do the work were very nice and seemed knowledgeable. Window and gutter guys great job. Others seemed to over extended to do a good job. Mr. Kroll did try to make sure we were satisfied but not willing to redo shoddy trim work or come look at it. Trim people left us 2 tubes of caulk and we already see places we need to use them. read more

Had this company install windows in my home 12 years ago. I was told the windows had a 30 year warranty. One now has a broken seal and they will not take care of it without charging me a service charge. Also had them install replace garage and driveway. Driveway sunk within 2 months and they said it wasn't their fault. I would definitely not recommend these people. read more

The worst company ever. I hired them to replace all of my windows and entrance doors and redo my plumbing. Even when the Taylor city inspector came out afterwards, he was not happy and said the work was unfinished and not up to code. They messed up the installation of my screen doors to where you had one heck of a time to get out and a month later the back door handle even broke because of this difficulty. Eventually the same thing happened to the front screen door handle. They did NOT caulk around the windows or doors at all!!! When I repeatedly called to have them come complete the work they ignored me. They lied about the work they were contracted to do on the plumbing and overcharged me by at least $4000 for the part they did do. After the troubles I had I cancelled a job I had contracted to them for a new front porch and two months later I was awoken at 7 am to a group of men smashing my front porch with sledge hammers. I ran outside and stopped them but now I'm left with a damaged front porch and no way to fix it. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!! Never have them do any work for you unless you like wasting money and doing most of the work and cleanup yourself. read more

Horrible sales tactics. We had Josh in our home for a roofing and insulation estimate today. He was friendly, but with a 'here to make a sale' glaze over his eyes. He spent the majority of the time selling himself and the company, repeatedly making sure that we were clear on what he was saying. When we got to the work to be done, it all seemed to be what we were looking for. Apples to apples with other estimates we had received from other very reputable companies. The price, however, was over $4000 more than we had been quoted from others (we did not tell him this). He then proceeded to tell us about a 'very exciting opportunity' we had as his customers. He went into great detail about how he and his colleagues came to this brilliant idea, trying hard to sell it. Basically, the privilege they were extending to us is if we signed on to do the work TODAY, they would give us 10% off. This helps them out because they don't have to follow up with us 3 or 4 times, all the while missing out on 20-30 sales they could be making (this is just one of several outdated, condescending, and annoying sales tactics he used). I was so excited I nearly fell over. Too bad the price was still too high. He then 'had to make a phone call' and left us to talk over the offer. When he came back, we opted not to sign right then. He squirmed. We told him we had received a lower quote. He squirmed some more. We told him the quote was for under $10k (it was in fact under $9k) and he panicked. He turned red, got on the phone to call the office, pressed them for permission to extend another discount, repeatedly asked us if we were paying in cash, re-stated to his colleague all of the information he had given us (making sure we heard), he stumbled over his words, made sure we knew that his company was family-owned for years... just went on and on in a complete panic. It was incredibly uncomfortable. In the span of 20 minutes, his quote went down FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS. In the end, we decided that even if the price could be matched, the fit just wasn't there. We opted to go with the no-nonsense, professional salesman that came by the day before with upfront pricing and zero pressure. Kroll, if you're reading this, take note that you sales gimmicks are incredibly transparent. Consumers don't like high pressure, extra long sales pitches. Just be upfront, be professional, give your best price, and do quality work. read more

I had my driveway done 3 years ago. I was told it was under warranty and a few months after it was done I noticed a crack. When I called I was told they don't warranty, but they would send someone out to fix it this one time. That was three years ago!! I still get phone calls from them every so often to see if they can do more work for me and I say "I would but I'm still waiting on someone to come look at my driveway from three years ago." They always apologize and hang up, no one ever offers to help. Seems like a place that cashes your check and doesn't care too much about customer service. p.s all kitchen quotes are $21,000 and all bathrooms are $12,000. read more

I only gave them a star because I had to in order to place this review. I can't even give them a part of a star!!!! I hired them to do my roof,siding,trim and Gutters. They did my roof weeks after the contract stated and left without it even being finished. They did come back to finish after I called them. As far as the siding and other work. Well the not even a third of if is sitting in my driveway after 6 weeks still no call at all. This whole job was supposed to be completed in full by May 17 and the roof wasn't even done by then. Here it is December and still not done. The only time I have talked to these people is when I have called them at least 35 times and never one phone call back. There is no way they ha e been around for 50+ years there work is horrible and customer service is far worse. I strongly strongly am telling you to not come close to this place. There roofers were reeked of pot and argued and yelled at each other the whole time. I am consulting a lawyer for breach of contract Stay Away can't even call them amateurs. I have a 600+ thousand dollar Home and trusted them to take care of it. I will never make this mistake again. With Kroll Construction horrible I can't tell you enough how displeased I am. I had Kroll out in June to give me a quote on a three car garage roof. The first salesman called and wanted to know my financial information before coming out. (I was paying cash) then said he could just quote over the phone. I called the office and requested another salesman to come out. I set an appointment for 10:30am and the salesman showed up at 9am. I was not home, and I had to rush across town to meet him. The whole time he was here, he stood there with his hands in his pockets, no tape measure, no quote form, he just kept talking about the "cheap" shingles on my house. When I asked if he was intending to give me a quote, he said $8,500.00 and if I wanted it done call. No written quote. I called a competitor company, the salesman came out with quote form, tape measure, well prepared. The quote was $4,200.00 and I had the roof done and wa nice, and passed city inspection. I think Kroll is just wasting everyones time by running commercials on TV. Stay away from these guy's, they are scammers. read more
