Our 70's home was well overdue for new interior doors and closets. We wanted a company who knew interior doors since our doors are all different sizes. Not having a new build meant these doors all needed to be custom. I found Home Door and Window Products online. We were provided a book on different types of doors and options. Also they told us the pricey options versus more economical, so I appreciated that. The biggest issues I had was the time it took for our doors to get installed. We ordered our doors/closets in July 2020 and they were not installed until December 2020. Covid screwed up most of that but we had to check-in to see where the process was for the doors - more communication from the company would've helped the wait. They also wanted to wait to install our doors/closets because one of our doors was really behind. We told them to just install everything they have and to not wait anymore. The install day went great - the installers were friendly, fast, and tidy. They also installed our new door knobs and closet handles. One other issue I had was that the interior doors/closets came primed but not painted (and there was no option for them to paint the doors). The doors were a little banged up here and there and had some spots on it. Such a pain to then go find a painter to paint all the doors. The doors are all hung and painted (thanks to a different company) and look awesome - we get so many compliments on them but it was quite the journey. read more

I sent over a FULL description of what I wanted for a quote on a front door. I know for a fact, a quote takes no more than 10 minutes. Another door place had given me a quote that I thought might be too high. I spoke to Alex 3 times in 5 days. She said each time she would send it to the sales people for a quote. They never had any intention of giving me a quote. They must have known they wouldn't be able to go under the quote I got, but instead of telling me they didn't want to do it, they just ignored my requests. Horrible customer service and horrible ratings on this app. I have paperwork from another door that home and window quoted us in person last year ( we went into the store on a weekend and had a nice man help us) and installation price was $650. The door I bought from Doors of Pontiac today was $450 for installation and my salesperson was fabulous. I would give Home, Door, and Window 0 stars if I could. We know many people in Berkley and Area. We will be telling them about our experience. read more

I wish I would have consulted Yelp before placing a sizable order with them. We were told it was 6-8 weeks and ended up being 12 weeks; however, I had to call repeatedly to find out the status. Fast forward to the installation. They called the day before to tell us one of the glass sections had a small crack and they would order a replacement piece to come back to fix. See photo. The entire glass is shattered with pieces falling out. Completely not safe! I told my husband that one glass was cracked since he was working remotely and would be present during the installation. I got home to see the door almost fully installed with this being shattered. Even the installers questioned installing and the safety. Tried calling them while the installers were here but the hours they have are part time so good luck figuring out when they will fix it. Complete inconvenience. Would never purchase from them again - save your money and go to Home Depot! read more

Home, Door and Window replaced my old Garage Door that I'd purchased from HD&W back in the late 90's with a brand-new door today. The installer was very courteous, and politely decline my repeated offers for a cold drink or to come inside and cool off on a 90 degree installation day. The installer even connected my old Opener to the new door; it's never operated so quiet! I had a great experience with Hone Door and Window in Berkley, and will definitely be a repeat customer for other home products. I had 7 interior doors replaced in my home over the summer. The sales person came out 2x to measure. In addition, I gave Savanna a sketch copy of the doors with measurements and correct door swing direction from my carpenter who was doing the install. Two doors arrived with incorrect measurements. A reorder was done. Again the doors were wrong. By the time the correct doors arrived, the weather temps were no longer ideal for the spray gun painting. My house was in disarray for much longer than needed. I have to wait until next spring for the 2 doors to be painted, and it caused me more lost work time and more expense to have my carpenter return more than needed. I asked for a credit and nothing was offered. I could have gotten the doors from Home Depot for $100. less for each door, and ONLY went to the Berkley store EXACTLY because I assumed the order would be done correctly with no mishaps. I understand errors happen, but not the 2nd time, and they should have offered some type of courtesy credit for the incredible inconvenience and extra time and expense I have incurred. Super disappointed. If Savanna had paid attention to the sketch my carpenter provided, this would have never happened. Additionally, they don't check the deliveries upon arrival from the manufacturer. A basic quality control issue. If they had, the mistake could have been caught sooner, and I would have had all 7 doors installed and painted, rather than having to wait until next spring weather to finish the spray painting of the 2 doors outside. Total bad experience, nobody cared. They made it clear that their business is mainly builders and contractors, so not a good place for a typical residential job. read more

I can't give them a horrible rating because they never actually did any work for us. However, their customer service on scheduling an appointment was atrocious. They would not work with my schedule at all. After I gave them 4 different dates and times that I was available, they inform me that they can only come out in the mornings, on weekdays, several weeks out. I had no problem getting 2 other companies to quote during my a timeframe, so I cut them from the quote process. Hope the sales team is not on commission, because they are throwing away money. read more

SERVICE GUY REFUSED TO WEAR A MASK FOR COVID SAFETY. Service technician Mike just showed up for an initial check of our garage door. No mask. I was masked due to health issues as we spoke at my front door. I asked if he had one, and he said No. I asked if he'd wear one if I gave him one, and he said "No, I don't need one." Sorry, but if he's trying to stand 3 feet from me to talk to me - whether he's in my driveway or in my garage - he needs a mask. Since I needed to speak with him while he would be examining our door for this initial visit, a mask was needed. (You'd think he'd put one on just as a courtesy even.) He was indignant, and so I told him to leave and that he wasted his time coming over. Not only did HOME, DOOR & WINDOW lose the service call $, but we were very likely going to buy a new 2-car garage door w/ installation anyway as we renovate this house. What gets me is his attitude and expression as he said No. He had absolutely no concern for my safety at all, and couldn't care less when I told him to leave. He didn't apologize. I was recommended to the to this business by several people. After we ordered and had a door installed they completely screwed it up. When asked about what services they offered to finish what was originally a exterior wall that was cut open for an addition we where told they didn't provide wood thresholds for install yet there showroom is full of them. We were told to go get our own hardware set for the door. Big mistake! When the door was being installed we were told that he could make it work but that the hardware was not really designed for this type of application. The salesman said he was trying to save us money but now it's going to end up costing us even more money to have it done right. I could have had this done at Home Depot custom made as a pre hung door for the price that they quoted me for two door slabs and the proceeded to completely and utterly screw the job up. read more

As a notorious DIY'er I have to say I am very glad to have this company help us out on our garage door. My husband and I were bent on fixing it ourselves when it wouldn't open. After hours of puttering with the cables we saw the torsion spring was broken and called around locally to see if we could get parts. This was friendliest local company that was willing to sell us the parts: torsion springs and winder bars. After much deliberation and looking at videos of people getting injured by messing with springs, my husband and I decided to pay the extra money to have a pro do it. (I also found a coupon on their site which helped bring the cost down.) I want to say I AM SO SO SO SO SO VERY GLAD we chose that route. Not only was Mike very professional and FAST (job was done under 40 minutes!) he was gracious enough to answer all the questions I had and even call me back to answer yet another question I had after he left. If I could give zero stars I would. Unfortunately this was one of the worst local companies I have dealt with in the area. They installed our garage door within the last year and it snapped twice. They would not come out either time and told me to just wait a couple of days until they could get there. When they were finally ready to come out, they wanted to charge me for the shotty work they originally did. The worst part with the entire process is how rude they were. They did a repair for me a few years ago and that went well. I recently needed to replace my garage remote and I needed help with finding the manufacture date of existing garage door opener so I could program the new remote I bought. I called their Customer Service Dept only to be told to contact the store where I purchased the replacement remote from. Apparently asking the company that did a service call for me previously felt I was wrong in asking such an EASY question. How difficult would it have been for them to tell me that there was a label on the unit? Instead the rep just hung up on me. I will not be using them for any further repairs or questions I may have as this was totally unprofessional. I usually prefer to do work with small businesses because they typically provide better service than the big box stores. read more

Never again I paid 10,000.00 dollars for new front entrance doors that do not fit. They have been out twice to adjust and try to fit with no success. After the 2nd time they said it was the factory`s fault. They sent a factory rep out and of course they said there is no problem. There is an 1/8 gap at the bottom of the one door that you can see day light thru.The other door hits the top of the jamb. When the wind blows you can feel the air and dust coming in under the door. I called them again today 3/15 and will see what happens.If they don't do something this time it will be Lawyers and law suits! One more thing, the outside of the doors came painted black that I paid extra for and when they were done they touched the nail spots up with the wrong color black just plain sloppy workmanship with the I don't care mentality. The experience was great as always, but this time there was "frosting on the cake". Darrel, the installer is one of the old school tradesmen who did all of the important little things that the installers of my old door didn't do.
