From a former massage therapist: I just had what was likely the most effective massage I've ever had.

Why choose Rachel?…read more Massage therapy should be a holistic experience that benefits both the mind and body. While massage helps promote relaxation and the release of endorphins, that experience can be diminished if the therapist appears disengaged or unhappy in their work. Whether you prefer conversation or silence, feeling comfortable and cared for is essential. Rachel consistently provides that experience through her warm personality, professionalism, intelligence, and genuine care for her clients. I specifically asked her to address my chronic shoulder pain, and she was able to identify and work on the muscles that were triggering my symptoms. The treatment was targeted, effective, and left me feeling significantly better. As a Doctor of Physical Therapy, I understand the importance of patient experience and quality care. It's easy to see why people appreciate Rachel's work ethic and the positive environment she creates. Good vibes overall. Thank you, Rachel!

After a single visit, on coming back a month later, she somehow remembered a lot about me - that I practice brazilian jiujitsu, do regular soft tissue work at home, that I have family and business in Orange County. We chatted for at most 10 total minutes during my first visit. It's exactly this type of continuity that I was looking for in finding a massage therapist to go to more regularly. Berkeley has a few great Thai massage places but therapists rarely speak English and they never seem to honor the specific therapist you book. I was looking for someone who will retain information on what I like and what my muscles need, and Rachel is exactly that kind of massage therapist.

Very welcoming, spacious and friendly I've been twice now first time was the body massage I don't think they paid attention to the body areas that I filled out on the clipboard so the second time I got the foot massage and it's basically the same thing as paying for the body massage.. Only downfall is when it comes to giving tip. They never seem satisfied, even though I did tip a good amount.

I called, they were friendly and could see me right away. Didn't ask my name because they had caller id. I arrived on time, the only one there, and waited 15 minutes. No big deal. It may have just opened for day. Explained to the front desk the areas I'd like to focus on. They said no problem. 6-10 chair beds in one dimly lit room, good ambiance. Another person came in right after me and they sat us directly next to each other until the other person requested space. Massage was good, had to request more pressure. I specifically pointed to the places I wanted focus (forearm, thumb/hand, calf, Achilles, and foot & ball of foot -- all on the left side.) (also lower neck and behind my left ear to loosen the muscle near my eustachian tube) not only do I feel the right side was given the most attention, my left calf and Achilles weren't touched at all. Lots of attention paid to the feet and between the toes, shoulders and neck were nice too, but not evenly distributed. There were also supposed to be hot stones, but I don't think that was even done when i was laying flat. All and all, maybe a good massage if you're just looking for a general feel good rub, but don't go expecting transformation or anything mind blowing.

My partner and I booked massages in advance and were placed in separate private rooms when we…read morearrived. The place was clean and simple, no fancy decor but inviting enough with dim lighting and gentle melodies playing in the background. Beware, you can hear through the walls -- cars honking outside, staff chatter (in Chinese) in the lobby and shared space with massage lounge seating, even my boyfriend's snoring in the room next to mine during our sessions. We got the combination massage (30 minutes foot/30 minutes body), and my experience was positive. Pressure wasn't consistent during the entire treatment, but for the most part it was on the deeper side and effective. The first half focused mainly on the back, plus neck, shoulders, and arms, as well as a bit of the legs. The second half, my masseur asked me to "turn over" as he left the room briefly. He meant not only to flip over to lie on my back but also to change positions so that my head would be at the foot of the bed. From there, he did a very detailed job on my legs, feet, and each individual toe, borderline painful but overall good. We paid upfront before our services, including a credit card fee (2.50 per massage). Afterward, we gave a cash tip. They have a sign at the front asking for $20 (with very friendly language), which is the typical amount we tip anyway. The staff was incredibly kind and professional, so I have no complaints.

I would not recommend this place…read more The experience started off strange but bearable when they required us to pay for the massage and tip before receiving any services. They asked if I was comfortable with a male massage therapist, and I said yes. However, the therapist appeared extremely nervous and was shaking throughout the massage. He was unable to apply much pressure, making the massage ineffective and uncomfortable. I paid for a full-body massage, but only the back side of my body was massaged. The front was completely skipped. When I asked why, I was told the therapist wasn't sure whether it would be appropriate. That explanation made no sense to me, especially since I had already agreed to having a male therapist. If you're advertising a full-body massage, customers should receive a full-body massage. What made the experience even worse was how my friend was treated. After her service was finished, she was told to wait outside in the cold while I was still receiving mine. The area is not the safest, and I found it incredibly unprofessional to ask a paying customer to stand outside and wait. Overall, this was one of the most disappointing massage experiences I've had. Poor service, poor communication, and not the service that was advertised. I will not be returning.
