Meticulous attention to detail through and through! My front lawn was nothing but gravel because the sprinkler system sprung a leak and the previous owners just let the grass die. Having the rocks seemed like a nice thing (low maintenance! Drought resistant! Blank slate!) but we quickly learned it wasn't installed properly because so many weeds began to grow. We received a very quick turn around to get a quote. Taylor met me and we discussed the vision we had for the yard. Taylor explained everything they would do to make sure we had properly installed landscaping. While design adjustments are included--we had VERY few revisions because Taylor really listened to our wishes and executed them so well in the design. Then the work began. I have been so impressed with everything Cesar and his crew have been doing. They leave no small detail untouched. The pipes for our old sprinkler system were such an eye sore. When the crew installed the new irrigation system--they build a box to conceal the pipes. I was not expecting that in the slightest! They are timely with completing the project and do a wonderful job cleaning up. I've had to many neighbors comment on how great the yard looks as they walk by. Wow, what a journey we've had with Applewood Landscaping! We just finished a complete makeover of our front and back yards, and it was quite the adventure. From initial designs to the stunning final result, the process took over a year, thanks to an unusually wet winter and some slow-moving permit processes. But it was well worth the wait, and through it all, we got to know Tigran, Taylor, Jesus, and their team really well. Taylor, the landscape designer, was a rockstar from the start. He walked us through several design revisions, integrating our feedback to refine every detail. He recommended some beautiful, drought-tolerant plants for the front yard, and designed a jaw-dropping outdoor kitchen and cozy firepit area in the back, which have transformed our backyard into our favorite gathering spot. We hired Applewood Landscaping after finding them on Yelp and seeing their great reviews. I got a very quick response from Tigran, the owner, after initially reaching out. He came the next day to check out the property and gave me a price estimate on the spot. He followed up with an official proposal, which I signed the same day. Our backyard was an absolute mess, we had weeds the size of trees growing in the backyard. We called in many contractors for quotes but they were overpriced and were taking too long to finish the job. We hired Applewood based on the quality of work they did on another house in Saratoga. Our experience with Tigran, Jose and their team was really good. They did the entire landscape (front and back) for our new home construction. They were attentive, easy to deal with and worked with us all the way till we passed final inspection (we had some specific requirements that they helped with to pass our inspections, it went beyond the original scope of work). They have deep knowledge in all things landscape. We hired Tigran and his crew initially to tackle our backyard to make it safer for our kids. We eventually had him take on the front yard and driveway as it just made more sense to do it all at once. It ended up being quite a big of work as our back and front yard were various levels and heights due to previous renovations we'd done on the house. We added a deck underneath our persimmon tree, redid the hardscaping to put in pavers in the front and the back as well as put in a retaining wall for planting flowers. He also added lighting all around to highlight our existing trees and to add ambiance. Communication was primarily through texts and he was always quick to respond. Tigran isn't a boisterous guy, he has a quiet, confident demeanor and he knows what he's doing. We had gotten quotes from several companies in the area and Tigran's quote was reasonable and we liked his approach to the work. He's very accommodating and willing to work with you on your ideas and thoughts. If he sees something that's not quite right, he'll bring it up, ask your opinion and offer a solution. He also wasn't nickel and diming us for every little change. We'd worked with many contractors throughout the years and I think our landscaping project was probably the smoothest project we've ever done. The crew consisted of 8-10 people per day. The team worked quickly and Jose, was the primary point of contact during the day. Tigran would show up on the site at least once a day if not more to check on the progress. We recently redid our driveway and entire yards with Applewood Landscaping and is very pleased with their professionalism and result. Before start of project We called 3 contractors for quotes. Tigran, the owner, came to our house on the same day to look around. He then took the scaled drawing (We worked with Jody Stix Garsia, a landscape architect whom we loved working with) and worked out the quote in his truck. 30 min later, he already had the first pass of estimate and walked us through it. His quote came pretty close with another one and after considerations, we decided to go with Applewood. During the project There were at least 10 people working everyday. The crew worked from 7 AM - 3 PM weekdays. They came on time and left on time, and cleaned up and organized the tools and materials before leaving each day. Everyone was very professional and courteous, and clearly know what they were doing. They were very fast. We had our driveway widened, replaced the concrete with pavers, put pavers on the front porch, demolished front, side and back yard, and put in new irrigation system and landscaping. Everything was done in 10 working days as scheduled. Jose, the foreman, was great. He checked in with us in the morning, showed us the work, asked questions, and sent pictures of the progress almost everyday. We also communicated using FaceTime (both with Jose and Tigran) if we needed to see the work in real time. The crew paid attention to details, and creative in solving unexpected problems. The end work was very nicely done, neat, and professional. Overall, we are very happy with the outcome. Our yards look so much better now and we've been spending more time outside to enjoy it. After the project Several days after the project was done, we had a couple flagstones that cracked, and found our maple tree was missing irrigation drips around it. We texted Tigran and sent the pictures. He responded immediately and sent one of this crew a couple days later. He added the drips and the next day came back to replace the flagstones. Our project was too small for them. So they gave me the contracts of four smaller contractors, which was really helpful.

We had a full overhaul of both yards completed by Applewood in September. Tigran was always responsive and easy to work with. We first started the process of discussing our ideas back in the Spring, and worked with his landscape designer who created a beautifully-detailed design for both yards. We had several other landscapers come to look at our design and provide estimates (I highly recommend doing this. I also recommend going through this process in the Spring, rather than Summer when many landscapers are booked). Tigran's estimate was around average, so we believe that his pricing is fair and in line with the competition. The work started in September and was finished in about 2 weeks. Tigran showed up one day with an excavator and several loaders, and about 20 employees, who were all respectful, professional, and pleasant to work with throughout the process. The hardscaping was excellent. We chose Calstone Mission pavers for both yards and a new driveway. Our design included curved plant areas in the front, and the stone-cutting and overall masonry work was outstanding. We literally get compliments from random passers-by almost daily. Applewood custom-built a large pergola on the back patio, and it looks fantastic. They also installed drip irrigation and gave us underground drainage. We had all new plants and trees installed. One of the reasons for the 4-star instead of 5-star review is that, by the end of the project, I think the workers were rushed to plant in both yards, and many of the plants were not in the correct place. We were a little disappointed that the plant areas did not look like the original design. Eventually, the plants were dug up and moved. There were some moments where we felt that there could have been more communication or more supervision of the large crew. There were also some other issues, with the drainage, e.g., that Tigran responded to immediately and came to fix. I appreciate that he was on top of these things and also checked in after everything was fixed, in order to make sure that we are happy customers. This review is loooong overdue. We hired Tigran and his crew back in 2017 when he was first starting out his business. He was straightforward, never tried to "oversell," responsive, transparent, fair with pricing, and basically executed whatever we requested. We provided him with our crazy barcode paver design and without question, made our vision come to life. I have never seen a crew work so fast and is really happy with the results. When we ran into any issues, we would voice it, and Tigran would just fix it immediately. A year later, we have been able to throw multiple parties and fully enjoy our beautiful outdoor space the way we intended it. Applewood just completed work on our property and we could not be more pleased. I would highly recommend Applewood to anyone who needs landscaping done. We bought our house in 2015. The house was fine but the landscaping was terrible. There was a weird little wall surrounding a small patch of grass for the front yard and large slate tiles (more appropriate for indoors or a covered porch) lined the driveway and the ENTIRE backyard. These tiles cracked and crumbled progressively since they were installed. We finally decided to redo the front yard, backyard, and driveway. After meeting with a few landscaping companies, we decided to go with Applewood because: 1. Applewood proposed a competitive bid 2. They would be able to complete the work in less than half the time of the other companies 3. After meeting with Tigran I felt he would be easy to work with and not aggressive with upselling (a feeling I got from some other companies). Shortly before the landscaping work began, I met with Tigran again and Allie, the project manager. We went over the plans and within a few days the team came and demo began. It was a big demolition because the tiles were laid on top of old concrete that was exceptionally thick. The entire project including demo, pavers, irrigation, plants and lighting were completed within 15 business days/3 weeks. To put this in context when I spoke with other companies, they estimated 6 weeks to complete just the front yard and driveway (no back yard). So Applewood gets the job done quickly. Allie (the project manager) was at my property all day (or almost all day) everyday. I work from home so I could easily run out and answer questions as they came up. The team is large and the workers are professional, diligent and hard working. Allie was great at answering any questions I had throughout the project. I even texted her a few times with questions since the project ended and she responded. That is almost unheard of. In my experience, once a company gets paid in full they don't respond to anything. The Applewood's landscaping has really elevated the look of our property. The pictures really don't do it justice. Despite the rain, Tigran and his team were able to do the work in four days including all demolition, planting, the installations and covering front and back with weed cloth and mulch. We also had them bring in soil to raise the level of the back yard a few inches. Tigran was very helpful in working with me on plant selection, and his team was prompt, polite, professional and worked hard to keep the areas clean at the end of each work day. They did a great job quickly and within budget, and I'm quite happy with the results; I'm about to ask them to quote me on a second small followup job to extend the sprinklers.
