There was an add in each one... could not find a button to stop it.. With the change in President I have noticed the handling news has decreased... I tried to find breaking news but your online service doesn't work.. commercial adds on the site . I'm stopping and deleting you app When you make news as a money maker with add after & after with commercials ... one can see why going to an online real news with out commercials ...Hearst Corporation Is looking for more money... Back in the 1960 I don't remember commercials if so they were few and not after each news article... Not using your online news app.. I see Laura Williams is set to retire, It's about time. Now maybe this station will have some stability. It is amazing the amount of people turn over that has happened here. I've watched ksbw for many years but it's getting worse by the night. Reporting is repetitive stories. What's up with the anchor with the " deer in the headlights look, " Stumbling and shuddering on the stories she's reporting on and can't even read the teleprompter. Don't you have a dress code for your anchors. No one wants to look at her bare shoulders and chest while having morning coffee or anytime quite frankly. Get rid of her before you loose more Viewers and find someone who can read and report more efficiently. read more

This channel has gone from bad to worse! They should vet some of the businesses that they promote. The said call the SPCA if you see animals in distress in the heat. A relative say a dog in a hot car a restaurant in Carmel Valley. It belonged to an employee and had been there for hours. .. SPCA did nothing. Do better KSBW!!! Make sure before you report something on your channel, you ask if they actually intend to do anything about animals in hot cars. read more

Since Heston left, KSBW has really gone down hill. Dan Green & Erin Clark are no longer regularly anchoring the M-F news desk. Sometimes it's both, sometimes it's just 1. Its very erratic scheduling, not like the stability under Heston. Weekly editorials are non existent. The weekend anchor Zoe Hunt often misreports or erroneously reports news information‐ & that's only where i know correct info. Who knows what else where I'm just a regular viewer. The only plus is the Met staff of Gina & Kyle. The other plus is the depth of their reporting staff out in the community & in general they are pretty good. read more

Typical self serving broadcast. KSBW is one of our long standing news channels. They must not have much in the way of people advertising because they are always telling viewers how wonderful they are, how wonderful their weather man is, how wonderful the anchors are.... They aren't. I don't understand why they think it's necessary to tell everyone constantly how they have been on air for 70 years and how they are "the most trusted news on the central coast." It's gotten so bad the last few years it's hard to watch. They don't report any real news, crime or anything one would care about. If they do it's in Santa Cruz. Apparently anything south of Watsonville doesn't exist. Unless it's Greenfield. No offense but news happens in Monterey, PG, Carmel, Carmel Valley too. Maybe if they spent less time telling us about their app, their high school football coverage (who cares) and how wonderful they are they would have time to report news throughout the region. read more

I like the anchors, but their obsession with the weather and their weather person makes me turn it off.

My main complaint is listening to Ariana's 10 year old voice. Whenever she comes on, my friends and I use our mute button. How did she ever get hired with her voice? So once again the station has been broadcasting information about first responders that was meant for internal affairs only and station is using a police scanner that they're not supposed to have. It's absolutely atrocious how the station likes to be judge jury and executioner for all the criminals that they broadcast and they hurt those communities and the families. They have no respect for the families and even the people that they do broadcast and some of them definitely have special needs and disabilities and the station doesn't care about that. And lately the station has definitely been firing some of their other employees that have at least in 10 to 20 years or more. read more

Was just watching the 6:00 news and seen where they showed the early Cinco de Mayo celebration that was going on in Watsonville. Not sure why they didn't mention the celebration that was also going on in Hollister. Lots of good music and food too. Had Mariachi's playing and lots of people dancing and having fun. read more

KSBW 8 is terrible! They oftentimes do not report on local news events and instead report on things irrelevant to those of us living in Monterey County. KSBW failed to report on several events that were beneficial for the Military community that KION 46 reported on and this channel just missed the ball. The cast are boring both Dan & Erin and I feel it's time for them to be replaced with a new crew that will improve the image of this dull and boring station. read more

PLEASE, this is our only channel for local news. Do something! I used to joke that the world is imploding and all we hear about is the otters. Now it's no longer funny. Things are getting worse. I have to mute the constant Weight Loss commercials. The Health Watch segment does not present well-researched information and often quotes poorly done studies. And is alarmist. Finally, if Brisa takes over ANY regular programming, I will have to just give up. The consistent emphasis on the THIRD word, as if each sentence is life-altering is just way too annoying. Please! We can't stand Erin Clark, Dan Green or the Editor. They have been there far too long and are well overdue for retirement. They sensationalized and exaggerated a story about a wonderful, loving and caring local families tragedy that involved some violence caused by an unfortunate disease that affects the majority of the population. Erin fails to read the most simple scripts smoothly without tripping over words. Forget about any multi-syllable, foreign or unfamiliar words, she'll butcher them to comical death. Also her wardrobe (black and white and white and black) looks like it came from ROSS (really out of season stuff). You would think she'd got paid enough for Macy's at least. Dan is stale like an old, dusty Kmart (who only elderly ladies appreciate because it's familiar to them) and I SWEAR that he wears the same tired jacket each and every day of the week. The editing sucks too. Often they'll read a story about one subject while showing totally unrelated footage from a different, unrelated story. It happens almost daily. Sad. The only positive thing I can say is that weirdo, helmet-headed Joseph Heston is gone and not missed one little bit. read more

Dan Green is the only competent news anchor and Lee Solomon is the only qualified and accurate meteorologist on this station. Meteorologist Gina used to be good when she first started when she was clear, concise and accurate in her weather forecast. However, her forecasting has severely deteriorated in the last few years since she primarily focuses on showing live pictures, unsuccessful attempts to be a social activity director (take a walk, wear a jacket, etc.) and she constantly making self-serving comments (we have "flower activity" and "take in your cushions") and not focusing on the actual weather forecast. There was a flood advisory early this morning, but Gina only briefly mentioned it in the last few minutes of the 2-hour broadcast. Then the station broke in the broadcast in mid-afternoon for breaking news to notify viewers of the flood advisory. The very young intern Ariana, who was hired and promoted to Weather Anchor has no education, training or experience in Meteorology and she cannot even speak in complete sentences. She doesn't know how to read any meteorology equipment or graphs. She only reads a teleprompter. This station needs new management and someone who is actually paying attention to the broadcast. The current general manager broadcasts "Editorials" that are not in fact editorials, but merely self-serving advertisements for upcoming events. The breaking news pop-ins are not breaking news at all, since they cover the same topics over and over again. read more

This station is laughable. Can't get the story and videos to match each other. Erin Grey can't read and definitely needs someone to dress her. She obviously doesn't look in the mirror prior to going on the air. An exception is Drea Blackwell who is knowledgeable, poised and enthusiastic. read more

I have to say I've been a fan for over 30 years and no other news can compare to KSBW. I have to say something, my mom and I were at Pete's coffee on Sunday (9/29) and we were struggling to open the door with our coffee in hand. I heard a voice behind us that said, "let me help you with the door ladies" I looked back and the gentleman that was helping us looked so familiar. I couldn't remember where I had seen him. "Rip n Read" is the professional term for a news outfit that does no real reporting, instead relying on the AP wire stories (or CNN stories in KSBW's case) to be the requisite filler to get through the day. Too many of their newscast stories are a rehash of what Brian Williams just said. Hint to the "Editor" of your newscast; Brian Williams is good at what he does. KSBW is a shlocky station and it shows. Not enough local reporting on stories that are truly of importance to the communities they report on. Way too much re-hash of national news and attempting to localize it through the most bizarre connections. Which leads us to Ned Flanders' (aka Joseph W Heston) editorial comments. If I could give this news cast a zero, I would. This is without a doubt the most dreadful, awkward, presentation of local news I've yet to encounter. While common sense would suggest that stations/ producers typically seek personable anchors, Monterey County must have missed the memo. Although Dan Green arguably is a far cry from friendly and/or personable, the real turnoff is Erin Clark. I am unable to wrap my brain around the fact that she (Erin) is actually paid to present the local news (I won't even get into the 11pm sports anchors personality - I'd potentially say something that would offend someone). It is truly unfortunate that the anchors are so unamused with their jobs to the point that they can't even remotely pretend to try and make anything they present in an interesting manner. Luckily I'm still at a young enough age (28) to which I'll hopefully be able to one day enjoy Erin and Dans replacement anchors. Hopefully it's sooner than later. My husband and I are fans of KSBW News! ***** The website is only worthy of 1/2 star, at best. Pulling up, "Breaking News", is an oxymoron in this case. We took the APP off our phones/IPads. Would sign in, there was news from two years ago, but nothing current, let alone breaking! On a whim, I emailed the station regarding the, NO News Breaking." It's been months...... Great LOCAL news. The morning team is fantastic. We love Art! Brit and Lauren are terrific and Michelle is okay too. Dan Green should be in a less grumpy mood (he IS married to Kate Callahan, right?) and the real star of the network? Bianca! We love all the field reporters and love how Caitlin does all of her standups right by the pier (hilarious!) Really, really great! Ugh! I stopped watching ksbw regularly because of the washed up anchors and Heston's useless editorials. Dan looks bored and uninterested and Erin needs serious hairdressing and someone to clue her in on her wardrobe which is horrific. I tune in every now and then to see if there are any changes only to be visually abused. I hope one day ksbw will become more professional but for now its just a joke. read more

Not to mention when we call DirecTV as a customer, they say the hold up is on your side. Needless to say, you should at least be granting waivers to your market customers who cant get your service in HD and cant get over the air signal, like me in SLV. You aren't saving yourself by not granting waivers. Im not going to watch your station in SD, I'm just going to watch programming on Hulu, Netflix or NBC.com instead. We live in Westside of Santa Cruz not watching local news at all, both anchors KSBW could not stand a second special Green ( his report just so STUPID ). KSBW is the lone local network affiliate that exploits its limited over-the-air signal by preventing satellite subscibers from receiving it. Once again management is holding viewers hostage by overcharging Directv for its dying shows, specifically NFL games. Everything about this channel is small town. Its news and editorials are like something you'd expect Spanky and Alfalfa to produce. Fortunately nothing is worth watching here except sports. Apparently management is unaware that if you are patient the events they prevent you from enjoying live you can watch on a legitimate channel later: NFL network, Golf Channel, etc. read more
