Engine replacement, new brakes, new tires, troubleshooting, oxygen sensors, took an 11 year-old work truck back to life very happy

To start it took them 6 weeks to tell me I need a fuel pump, quoted me 660$. After that it was another 1200$ and a couple of weeks to tell me it was another issue. Electrical. I finally picked up my truck and all seemed fine for about a month. Same issues occurred. I have contacted them multiple times since. They do not answer phone or return calls. I was 15 hours away from home when my truck began making what sounded like a problematic noise, suggesting a possible bad bearing. Also the hills of New Hampshire amplified the slight warp in my rotors significantly. The glowing reviews and a verbal recommendation from a customer at O'Reilly's Auto Parts led me to this garage. Upon calling, I was advised to get the truck in at the earliest convenience. I left it with them, and within 30 minutes, received the diagnosis - a bad bearing, faulty rotors, which I had suspected, and ball joints too unsafe for the return trip. The quote provided was $2500. Without too many options, I approved the repairs, which surprisingly were completed on the same day. I was pleased to pay the bill, even adding a $50 tip for the mechanic responsible for the repair. I was truly grateful for their prompt service. However, after leaving, I noticed the noise that initially led me to suspect a bearing problem hadn't been resolved. I decided to get it checked by my local mechanic. Upon examining the invoice, I noticed that I had paid $1402.08 for parts - significantly higher than the less than $600 cost if I had purchased them myself from any Advance Auto Parts store, even opting for premium grade parts. Nonetheless, this is not a complaint, and my 5-star rating reflects my appreciation for their prioritization of my situation over their other waiting customers. Kind and empathetic, after leaving my car in the hospital parking lot for 2 months, my car had issues with the battery and alternator and all the lights on my dashboard were on. Very helpful. I was driving nearby when my tire pressure light came on. I called a couple of places and it was going to hours before they could look at it. When I called he said to bring it in. When I got there they took it right in and had it repaired (had a nail and it needed a plug - he didn't try to force me to buy a new tire) and I was out of there in 20 minutes. Dealership quote versus local garage = I saved $2,158 by going "small" and local. The dealership spelled my name wrong and got my phone number wrong. The local shop spelled my name right and got my phone number right, and saved me THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS. I see no reason to go to dealerships for anything ever. PS: my car is fixed and feels like new! Initially recommended by a roommate after having a not so decent experience at kirks auto in the past. Brought my car in on a wed. called Fri. And they said it would be about 100$ so I told them to go for it and fix the brake hose. Didn't hear back from them until I called on Wednesday, I was told they were just finishing the paper work. Found out the cost was only 85$ instead of 100$ (not bad). Nice place off the beaten path where you don't have to do to much worrying about leaving your car. 7 days for a brake hose doesn't seem bad the only thing is that I wish they contacted me. Keeping your customer updated and letting them know the work is compete would of helped. Probably would use KTM again if I had too. read more

My Oil Pan was cracked on a Stage II Volkswagen Golf R. VW uses plastic on the 2.0 Turbo engines and I was an hour from home. The car was towed to KTM on Sunday and Monday morning, Brian called to let me know they have the car and all will work out. KTM exceeded my expectations in many ways -They allowed me to order my own parts from aftermarket and didn't require I order parts through them or use OEM parts -They were able to scan and diagnose and clear fault codes on my car -They were very quick at both phone & email communications (which is always a pain point for me as I do prefer email) -KTM made informed recommendations but still allowed me to choose what I thought was best for my car, in this case I took their advices -They worked very fast on my car -Brian offered to come in on Saturday (his off-day) to meet me to get my car -Brian also offered to stay late so I could get my car! wow -The labor rate was fair -The car doesn't appear to have been sat on or no jean rivet marks (you wouldn't believe how many mechanics just abuse paint for no reason) My car is my baby. I spent 39K on it and put 10K in modifications into it and it's a wonderful well maintained machine. I feel like KTM understood that and treated it as I would have. I'm absolutely blown away by how much they cared. While I'm not in Plymouth often, these guys are on my list of places I'd recommend. read more

I have used this garage three times as my son is in college in Plymouth and every time I am in awe of how much the truly appreciate their customers. The latest visit was for an engine issue and Brian & his team pulled through and got the car running so my son could make it home during the COVID pandemic. These guys are extremely honest, easy to work with, good mechanics and did I say extremely honest. Bought a used BMW, that I knew had some issues, but nothing to crazy. Brought it to a German specialty shop in the area that I have used in the past. They gave me a ridiculous estimate of over $3200. Gave me a list of things that they said needed to be replaced. Valve covers, oil cooler, cam shaft, water pump, thermostat and a few other things I cant remember right now. I could not believe that all this was wrong, so I started reading reviews of other German car mechanics in the area. Decided to call KTM based on previous reviews, very happy I did. Brought the car in and this is what it really needed. Oil cooler and valve covers were not leaking, it was the o ring on the oil filter, $20 charge to diagnose and fix that. The anti freeze leak was coming from a hose, not the thermostat or water pump. Everything else was fine. Decided to have the thermostat and water pump changed, because they are known to fail around the 90k mile mark. Brian from KTM was honest and said they didnt need to be changed at this time if I didnt want to do it, but figured the car was there and they were working in the area of them anyway. Overall it was a great experience and I will use these guys going forward. read more

My daughter is a PSU student who drives a 10 year old foreign car. We were looking for a local garage near the college which would perform some basic services and an annual inspection. As it turns out, what we thought were minor issues ended up being more problematic, and it failed inspection due to an exhaust part. Brian was relentless in tracking down the part we needed (they are no longer being manufactured) and ultimately located it in NY and had it shipped. Long story short, they sent the wrong part (doh) but rather than send it back and delay the process even more, he Macgyvered something suitable which enabled the car to pass. If you're a college student with rich parents KTM is the place for you! Started working on my car w.o discussing estimate and without my permission. Tried heavily up charging me for a part, I talked the price down but they took my warranty out, also expensive labor, and when that part went bad 10 days later (convenient for them since they took the warranty away) I ended up just going to the CURRIER AND SON on 175 instead and received way better service. KTM swindled me; from what it looks he tried to squeeze me for money and when I showed automotive intelligence to show i knew he was upcharging me, he didn't like it and put a faulty part in my car so I'd have to return and pay more money. Highly recommend going roughly anywhere else, unless you have cash to toss around on car parts read more

Nothing but good things to say about the folks and the work from KTM! We switched to KTM as our go-to family mechanic years ago and would never consider changing. I'm surprised and disappointed that a fellow reviewer made an unfavorable comparison of KTM to another local garage. That other garage used to be our go-to mechanic until we got tired of failed repairs, premature part failures and 2nd and 3rd attempt repairs. Yes, KTM can be more expensive than other local garages but they use far better quality parts and the work is performed by knowledgeable, caring and competent people. They get the job done right and on time. Every time. KTM has done everything from routine oil changes to a complete engine replacement on our vehicles and we've had no bad experiences. The KTM folks recognize returning customers (and returning vehicles!) and are always willing to discuss your concerns and go out of their way to make things right.
