Dear reader, We stopped at Kudzu Bakery in Columbia, SC and had a thoroughly delightful visit. The shop is full of charming little tchotchkes, making it very easy to find the perfect gift or a treat for yourself, should self-indulgence call. The selection of cakes, breads, pastries, and other sweets was wonderfully broad, and quite honestly, everything looked and smelled amazing. We ended up choosing the chocolate chocolate cake, and it was heavenly. Rich, deeply chocolatey, and so soft it practically melted in your mouth. A proper triumph. Kuso Bakery was such a beautiful surprise--it honestly felt like stepping into a charming town bakery in the Hamptons. From the moment you walk in, the ambiance is warm, inviting, and thoughtfully curated. Everything was decorated for Easter, which made it feel even more special and festive. They offer so much more than just baked goods--there are wines, homemade dishes like chicken pot pies, fresh chicken salad, seafood options, drinks, and an array of desserts. Everything feels homemade, high-quality, and made with care. I also loved browsing their little trinkets and unique items--it adds to the whole experience. The bakery was packed, which says a lot, but despite that, the atmosphere remained pleasant and enjoyable. The staff was incredibly kind, and I especially appreciated how everyone took pride in their appearance--it added to the elevated, polished feel of the place. And the brownies? Absolutely delicious. Overall, it didn't feel like I was in Columbia at all--it felt like a little escape. Such a lovely experience, and I'll definitely be back. read more

Considering this a bakery you might think they only specialize in bake goods. You would be surprised to know they have some really great specialty items. Several of the soaps they sell here are made in San Francisco , California. The best one is espresso and second best is sandalwood soap for men. Jack Black shaving products cost a lot more but are worth treating yourself and your face. I still like the baked goods here in all but I purchase many other sauces to cook or grill with on weekends with friends and family. Don't rush while your here take your time. I was excited to go to Kudzu Bakery because of all the good reviews. But I was greatly disappointed. The employee who helped us was very attentive and friendly, but the bakery items were not good. None of the cakes or pies were baked well. Everything was mushy. We bought a lot because we wanted to try as much as possible. Quality control is important. The texture of one pie was very mushy on the inside, but extremely hard on the crust area. So, that was two things wrong with the same item. I feel that the recipes are not terrible, but the products were baked very badly. Some recipes need to be reworked. I ended up wasting all of their bakery items. I wasn't going to eat all of those mushy and possible under-cooked items. I just learned a lesson. Only buy one thing to try first. No matter how good the reviews are... I will have to find another bakery to go to. read more

A Friend told me about this place so I stopped by. The chocolate chip cookies are delicious! I ordered some oatmeal raisins for someone else. This bakery is well lit. It displays everything real well. I didn't walk all the way through, but it looks like they offer pre-portioned meals too! It looks like a one stop shop to pretty much get what you need. They have all kinds of desserts to offer. And the lady who helped me was amazing! She gave me some ideas on other things to possibly try when I return.....because I will return! read more

The market portion of the business carries a vast variety of gourmet goods--I didn't buy any, but recognized some winners I was familiar with were for sale here. I am addicted to kudzu cinnamon buns and their caramel pecan cake. it's so yum trust me.

I went to Kudzu because of all of the great reviews. I ended up being disappointed because of the cake I ordered. I got cookies, which were great. I bought a dinner from their refrigerator section, and it was great. The cake that I ordered and had taken a copy of what I wanted to have on it, with a minimum there was 1 line, that had a # on it, that was okay to have just that line. I asked them to let me know if they would be able to do the design and they said they would let me know. I told them that as long as it had that #, and knew, I could make the rest of it work. I received a call that stated they were going to be able to make the cake, no problem. When I picked it up, I opened it to look at it and there was NOTHING on the top. I told them that was not what I ordered, the salesperson asked what was wrong with it. I told her that I had a left a paper with what I wanted and at a minimum the # (the paper was even reference in the notes they made when I ordered the cake). She asked a younger lady what they had for frosting that she could write on the cake. She had pink and light blue, the cake was cream cheese frosting (white) with red and green sprinkles around the base. She took the light blue and wrote the # on the cake....it looked TERRIBLE!!! I told her that was still not what I really ordered and she stated that the cake was so pretty. I will most likely not use them again, as no one there listened to what I wanted and did what they wanted. read more

Wow. I loved the pound cake! My boyfriend really wanted a pound cake for his birthday and I was in no mood to make one. I searched and searched and found this spot! The service was great, the workers were pleasant and the pound cake was superb! Let me not forget, it was priced very well. I will go back and try other desserts. read more

My friend has been talking about this place place for weeks and told me to go visit. The market is adorable! All toes ID kitchen gadgets and foods. Oh my goodness the bakery has cookies, pies, and cakes. They also sell them by the slice. I bought a slice of Key Lime pie and caramel cake. The pie is awesome!!! I especially loved the crust. This was my first visit to Kudzu. I ordered a chocolate chess pie for my husband's birthday. We had a slight problem with the order after I had gotten home, but they fixed the problem easily. The pie was DELICIOUS. I can't wait to try the new baked goods, and I could spend hours in the market looking at all the goodies. read more

Best chocolate chip cookies in the Meteo area hands down. Plus you can buy them frozen to bake at home later. I'm obsessed!

The ladies there are nice and helpful. This bakery probably has my favorite cake which is the Caramel pecan cake.
