This was a treat for us after dinner a few weeks ago. They are located down town Columbia. If you go in the evening, keep in mind parking is crazy. The shop is cozy small, the decor was really cute. They did have a few seats for guest to enjoy. I had the pumpkin and buttercreme waffle cone. The portion size was good for the price. Usually sweet cream ice cream is the very best. I always get a hot fudge sundae. They give me plenty of fudge and my husband gets a peanut butter sauce sundae and my dog gets a pup cup. After a late lunch on a Thursday afternoon in January, we took a stroll down Main St. and came across Sweet Cream Co. A lovely little sweets shop... as we opened the door the smell of the fresh baked homemade Brookies carried us right in. I did plan to grab one to go but got distracted trying to decide on what flavored scoops I wanted. Alice, the young lady who served us was just as sweet as the treats, and she was extremely patience as I worked thru my indecisiveness in real time. I sampled the Bourbon Dark Cherry and Banana Pudding, both were really good and made my decision making even harder. I ultimately decided on sorbet since we just had lunch and went with the Raspberry Sparkletini and Lemon. They were lite and refreshing and didn't leave me feeling heavy or stuffed. The tart of the lemon with flakes of lemon zest helped to balance the sweetness of the raspberry sparkletini. While both ice cream samplings were delicious the sorbet was the right choice. A stroll and 2 scoops for $6.75, was the perfect way to cap the afternoon. However, I will be back for both the brookies and banana pudding ice cream. This is the BEST ICE CREAM I've come across in Columbia, so far. They've got vanilla and chocolate, but not just any vanilla or chocolate. They offer Madagascar vanilla and dark chocolate. They usually also have a variety of fruit, nut, and alcohol flavors such as amaretto, burnt sugar bourbon, butter almond, blackberry cheesecake and black currant. Several of my favorites include cinnamon, black currant, amaretto and Black sesame ginger. The sorbets are bursting with flavor. The melon flavors, such as cantaloupe and honeydew, are perfect for a hot afternoon. The watermelon lemonade is refreshing. If you'd like a twist, try the Honey Whiskey Sorbet. Then there are basics like lemon lime. The staff is always friendly. There are several tables inside if you prefer to st down. Typically, I am a loaded ice cream type of person, but I was totally appreciative of the freshness, flavor, and small bites of crunch here and there.  There were a few seats inside to sit and enjoy your ice cream, and it had a pretty clean and cool vibe. We stopped by Sweet Cream Company for an after-dinner treat, and found it moderately busy on a Friday night. They had kind of rustic-themed decor, and a small indoor seating area. Some of the ice cream flavors were unique, such as Black Currant, which I don't see often. I was hoping to get two flavors in one scoop, but unfortunately they didn't offer this option. I ended up choosing the Cream Cheese & Blackberry Jam in a small cone. The portion size was very generous, and I only ended up finishing half of it. The ice cream was texturally smoother and more like gelato than a lot of premium frozen desserts, and the sweet and dairy-flavored base was always noticeable in addition to the flavors that I got. I was, however, thick enough to snap in half the wooden spoon; thankfully I carry metal utensils with me when I travel. What I got included a sugar cookie flavor and a white chocolate peppermint with what looked like Andes mints. Both were quite resplendent. Amazing ice cream shop in downtown Columbia, SC square. The decor is nothing to write home about, but the shop is clean and bright. The cashier was really friendly and let me try multiple ice creams before deciding, which was really helpful. I decided on a double scoop on a waffle cone with dark chocolate and spiced chai with pepitas. The dark chocolate was creamy and very chocolatey and the chai was heavily spiced. I normally don't like nuts in anything but the pepitas actually added a welcome crunch and the perfect amount of flavor contrast! The waffle cone was fragrant and held up well (I eat ice cream slow) and was delicious down to the last bite. For my double scoop and my sons single scoop (also with a waffle cone) it was $15. read more

I'm not really very Sweet on Sweet Cream. Pretty typical ice cream store located right in the heart of Columbia and I know that Columbia doesn't have a massive amount of options and I know it's a little local place, but genuinely I was disappointed by the service and by the signs passive-aggressively limiting samples, and not only due to high prices, the value didn't get me, as my flavours were full of ice crystals, meaning it wasn't too fresh. I'm not a fan of this ice cream place. The products taste like they've been sitting around for quite a while. The guy serving who I think is the owner was friendly enough and the girls here were extremely friendly and in fact those girls are the only reason why this place is getting a decent rating. Charging over $5 for a scoop is bizarre and ridiculous. Not having a kiddie scoop shows that you may be a little bit of a penny-pincher. Having old flavors sitting around follows along with that and the crown jewel of all of this is the sign that greets you when you get to the window which is that if you're going to do samples make sure you buy something. That's always implied in every store that offers free samples but guess what - if somebody tries your product and taste the little bits of ice because it's been sitting around so much then they're possibly not going to want to buy your $5 50 small scoop. And that is perfectly fair enough otherwise why are you offering samples in the first place. If there are a few kids (and it wouldn't be the norm it would be the exception) that come in and ask for a bunch of samples and then leave then just tell those kids when you see them now they can't do that anymore. You don't need a catch-all sign for it. Because it rubs people like me the wrong way - people that have come from out of town and are going to write their 11,000 and somethingth Yelp review about how you're kind of rubbing customers the wrong way. read more

I decided on the lemon poppy seed and my friend got a milkshake with mocha chocolate and dark chocolate. The lemon poppy seed tasted just like a lemon poppy seed muffin/cake but it was super light and creamy.
