Like a Trader Joe's and Wegmans kind of vibe if you've never been here before. I just love coming here for everything. Fresh produce, a lot of healthy and organic snacks, and an insane selection of home made candies like gummy bears. Definitely not cheap though, it's pretty expensive compared to Krogers or Food lion for your everyday groceries, but Fresh Market definitely has some things you won't find anywhere else. Staff were always friendly and the facilities were really clean. Parking is shared with the plaza and other stores. read more

I have been very disappointed in the freshness of the case food at this Fresh Matket. I couldn't eat the Bourbon Salmon nor the Cranberry Chicken Salad from visits about 6 months apart. I think they have some nice packaged items but for now I am staying away from their cakes(stale) and pre made chicken salad and bourbon salad. Fresh is what they call themselves; however they're starting to fail. Hate to see this! They readily refunded the purchase price of the spoiled items. That's a plus. read more

The fresh market is one of the places I like to visit when we come to Cola. The food quality, especially the fresh and deli selections is over the top! The staff is always helpful and will go out of their way to help you find the things you want. I don't usually review a chain but they make everything fresh in their deli and bakery with the most quality ingredients here. They have fresh big salads. "Take and bake" style entrees. And several sandwiches and wraps to choose from. So, I ordered a turkey wrap and cupcake to go for lunch today. Tuesday's treats. The wrap was a good portion for $7. I go to the Fresh Market a little more frequently than I used to. One of my go to faves is no longer around since the pandemic. They used to have a seafood bar. It included shrimp salad, smoked salmon salad, and a few other items. While I totally understand why this is no longer available for anyone to reach in and make your own serving, please bring this back and make it how you did the olive bar! Or, have it available at the deli for purchase. Anywho, great location. Always fresh produce! Great selection from the meat counter and the deli. I often purchase the chicken egg rolls. They are so good. The packages normally come with duck sauce but that is hit or miss. If they aren't available in the fridge, I have asked someone at the counter and they go to the back and package up the amount that I want. All in all! Great experiences here. Will always come here! While this wouldn't be a main grocery store for all my home cooking needs, it is a great place to get a few high quality staples to amp up your homemade meals. I regularly visit the Fresh Market for their "Little Big Meals" which rotate weekly, changing on Wednesdays. They are meals prepackaged for a group of 4 and mostly just require some heating and assembly. Past meals I've had include slow cooker pulled pork, chicken pot pie, meatloaf, chicken kabobs.... the list can go on and on. These are amazingly worth it if you are low on time and don't want to put much thought into planning a meal. I also love Fresh Market's meat and deli sections. They have a beautiful assortment of fresh meats, pre-seasoned meats, etc. The deli area carries a variety of items like chicken salad, pasta salads, potato salads, sandwiches, etc. I've often picked up sandwiches for lunch (the paninis are awesome!). I honestly skip the remainder of the store for the most part unless I am searching for a specialty food item. The prices for staple items like butter, eggs and bread are higher than your normal grocery store, even if you're comparing organic items. The occasional sales may help, but still not always the most cost effective. read more

This is my go to location on Tuesdays for their great deal on ground beef and boneless skinless chicken breast for $2.99/lb. They always have it prepackaged and ready to go, so there's no waiting. It's great to buy 1 pound packages and throw right in your freezer. They always have samples too, which my kids love, as well as free cookies. Recently we tried the jarlsburg cheese dip on mini sliced baguette and it was sooooo good. The sandwiches are great, sushi is good, and produce is aLways so fresh and beautiful. Just be prepared that items in the store are pricey. I pretty much just go for the quality meat at a great price, only on Tuesday! read more

Love the Fresh Market. Became a fan many years ago when living in another city, and so often wish there was a store in the Charleston area. Whenever making trips back to the Lowcountry from Charlotte, this is always a stop. Clean restroom, stretch the legs, and always find something to buy. Today I was with my husband and found him, of course, picking out snacks from the bulk food section of nuts. I, on the other hand, picked up chocolate covered cherries and blueberries. I love Fresh Market, I shop in other locations when I travel too. I have been shopping at this location since the 1980s I think when we were first stationed in SC. Since we have settled here, I shop here whenever I'm in town. The meat department can not be beat. The prepared foods are outstanding, the chicken drummers, the roasted chickens, salads..I love the Waldorf Salad. Don't get me started on the desserts area! The wine department is outstanding. And if you're looking for that unique ingredient or spice, this is the place to shop. read more

So the fabulously welcoming display of flowers, pumpkins, firewood, etc initially drew me in to The Fresh Market but that $2.99 Tuesday deal is what keeps me coming back in. Every Tuesday you can get a pound of hamburger and chicken breasts for only $2.99 a pound. Super solid awesome deal. Makes me oh so happy. I will also wander around the store to see if they have anything else on sale that I need to pick up or want to try. My new favorite thing is the olive bar. They have delicious dolmas so I'll pick up a few of those and throw in a couple of mini mozzarella balls for snack. (The Olive Bar is $9.99 a lb.) They have a wonderful produce section including some pre-cut items for sides but that is all pretty pricey in my opinion and I can chop things up myself. Also don't miss the deli or the dessert area. The deli has a ton of salads (pasta, rice, veggie, tuna, chicken, etc) and the desserts from the case are impeccable. They are perfect to pick up for when you have people coming over and don't have time to make a nice dessert.. or when you just want a tasty and pretty dessert. :-) They also have prepared sushi (which I feel is reasonably priced), pizzas, and a few other things. They have bins of candy, nuts, trail mix stuff too. They usually keep a good stock of holiday items if a holiday is coming up, flowers/plants for sale, and almost always have a carafe of coffee out for you to sample. When traveling, I find a Fresh Market because of the quality. The store in Greensboro on Lawndale was my store of choice when I lived there. However, when I am in the Columbia area, I try to stop at the Forest Drive location... 12/3/2022 while visiting the Newly opened HomeGoods I ran into the Fresh Market it smelled wonderful the store was well lit, smelling good, the employees were smiling and then I met the Manager Matt..he was cutting salmon he was the best part of my experience. Everything I needed and wanted was there! Normally, I go to Publix for fruit and vegetables, but I was pleased here. For this experience, I will gladly bypass the Augusta and Aiken stores and drive to get this type of service....10 stars!! read more

Fresh Market has become a new go-to in my grocery routine. I keep an eye on the weekly specials, $20 meal deals and $15 dinner boxes. This week one of there $15 dinner boxes the peppercorn steak, sweet potato mash and roasted green beans ( a favorite of my boyfriend and I). The dinner boxes feeds two and is similar to Hello Fresh. It's a fun date night idea and every meal we have tried has been tasty and filling. We don't have a family so we haven't tried the $20 meal deals (feeds a family of four) but we intend to try it eventually because leftovers are always great. I walked in the Fresh Market today, and almost left. There was a very stale and mildew smell. It could have been some very stinky cheese, but the cheese was on the opposite end of the store. I went quickly through the store in an attempt to escape the stub but, but it was everywhere. The smell caused me to doubt the quality, and freshness of everything in the store. I quickly grabbed a snack, and water and left. I hope this was a one time problem, but it sure makes me nervous about returning. read more

I used to get my lunch from Fresh Market all the time but not so much lately. For one, I realized Earth Fare (on Devine Street) has a lunch buffet and two, as people have already remarked, there really wasn't anything there that was strikingly fresh or that I couldn't get at other organic grocery stores at a cheaper price. I will admit that I do really like their tuna salad. They get that right and it tastes pretty yum served on a croissant with lettuce. They USED to have a really awesome selection of chilled sodas sold by the can, like Blue Sky, but it seems like they reduced that selection to crap like Diet Coke and Red Bull and Zevia, none of which interest me. I'll probably still continue to get lunch there every now and then when the mood strikes me but I wouldn't continue to regularly shop there. OH, and the parking lot there is really awful. There is almost never parking in front of the store and so many people double park or park terribly. I don't know if it's the Fresh Market or the Pancake House next door, but one of the two attracts bad parkers like flies to honey and it's kind of infuriating! read more

This is one of the only stores comparable to Whole Foods in the Columbia area (besides Earthfare). It's a small grocery store that sells gourmet quality food. I come here for the seafood and meat. They have great fish such as halibut, swordfish, salmon, and more. They have large carolina shrimp at a good price too. They also get in Hereford lean steaks and USDA Prime on occasion. Food freshness and selection Is hit or miss depending on what day of the week you come here. They restock the store on Tuesday, so if you come on Monday or Sunday there will be less selection. While I don't buy all of my groceries here since it can be rather pricey, Fresh Market does carry many gourmet quality items that one cannot find at standard grocery stores. read more

Stopped in for the first time to pick up some chicken salad. It did not disappoint. I'm a coffee-a-holic and the coffee here was delicious. (And I'm super picky about my coffee.) Great place for buying all the organic, ethnic and gourmet foods you can't find at most grocery stores. They have a good size deli and bakery section with lots of amazing-looking desserts, pre-made side dishes and entrees. I bought a rotisserie chicken and twice-baked potatoes, both were very good. They also have a wide selection of beautiful flowers. The one thing I did not like (which is why I only gave three stars) was that there were a few too many flies. All the food was covered and/or packaged, of course, but I just thought that was kind of gross. Hopefully, it was just the day that I was there because I would like to go back. read more

I frequent this place quite often for grilling items (BEST portobello & smoked gouda burgers, bacon & cheddar burgers, pre-made veggie kabobs, various fresh fish and crab cakes), they also carry special candies/treats during the holidays, and the biggest juiciest strawberries during the summer!!!! This is my favorite grocery store in Columbia. The employees in all areas (deli, produce, cashiers) are all helpful and friendly.

I have used The Fresh Market for ever. These days there are many others. The fresh Market is still different than the others. This is my favorite place to go for nuts. They are still expensive but they are probably better than Earthfare or Whole Foods. I am not sure why the ratings or so low. I do like all of the Healh food stores. read more

Lately? It's got that not-so-fresh feeling. When my sis first moved to Columbia, I found Fresh Market and shopped a whole Thanksgiving dinner here. They had great fresh (not frozen) organic turkeys, but more importantly really good fresh veggies. They still have a great meat counter, especially for ordered items, and a nice selection of specialty food products and ingredients, but the fresh part of Fresh Market --the produce--has taken a sharp turn for the worse. Add on the San Francisco-style prices and you've got a problem. They were still jammed before Thanksgiving on a recent holiday visit, but I ended up getting what I needed at other supermarkets instead. read more

The premade lunch options have diminished in variety and taste. For example, there are less tasty fresh sushi options and more sushi that looks like a standard super market would carry. Also, the sandwich options seemed dried up. They have quite a variety of brands that normal places don't carry. And that seems to be their sole allure rightnow. But in terms of fresh snacks like veggies and fruits, I can go to another shop to get those. read more
