I mean for full disclosure, ABE is not ORD or SFO or LAX in terms of size, but that's also its advantage. Admittedly, did it cost more to fly from here versus PHL/EWR/BWI? Without question but at the same time, the security here was faster than fast with no one in line and on the back end, it was maybe 12 minutes from deplane to checked bag in hand. Where the hell else can you do that? I don't care about parking because Uber & Lyft are very prevalent and there is a separate waiting area for all of that on the second floor by departures. Probably about a three minute wait on that one. Sure, a few bucks could have been saved by going somewhere larger with more service but this place is simply too easy and simple not to use. As long as there isn't a significant pricing difference compared to larger airports, this is where you want to fly from.

Why when I travel, I try to leave out of Lehigh Valley International Airport. I've flown out of here a few times, and even though I've had some frustrating delays due to weather or crew issues, I still enjoy flying out of Lehigh Valley International Airport. Since it's not a huge airport, Lehigh Valley International Airport only has a few airlines, so unless you're specifically looking for a certain airline, you might want to consider Mama Joe City Terminal instead. However, they do offer flights with some major airlines, like Delta and American Airlines, as of the time of this review. There aren't many gates which is good, as I appreciate the straightforward approach to getting to your gate. I often fly with American Airlines, so it's a good choice because I use it to connect to buses (yes, they have buses too) to flights to major airports. One nice thing about taking the bus from the airport is that you don't have to go through security again at the connecting airport. There aren't as many food options as you might find at other airports, but there are enough if you need food or a drink. They also have other amenities for travelers with specific needs. If you're bringing your dog, they have a pet relief area. If you have kids, they can go to the play area and burn off some extra energy from sitting on or barding the flight. If you're a nervous flyer, there's a sensory room to help you calm down and focus before your flight. I also like the different book nooks around the airport where you can take or leave a book for free. Unless I'm fly at the right time, I don't seem to wait around long. I usually give myself about 2 hours to get to my gate, but I've sometimes arrived at the gate five minutes after I get arrived at the airport. I've have however almost missed my connecting flight because of weather or crew and gate issues flying out of here. One time, my return flight had to wait 30-35 minutes on the runway, because the only open gate had a plane disembarking, and we had to wait for them to move the plane and dock. There were other gates open, but not enough staff was working and was frustrating to wait. I generally enjoy flying out of this airport. It's not a huge hub, and delays can sometimes eat into your time for connecting flights, but it's usually a good and dependable option for getting to your destination.

Rate: Usually not the cheapest at the airport but by no means is it the most expensive either. You can try to save a few bucks by going with someone like Thrifty or Enterprise but then as the saying goes with you get what you pay for either in terms of car selection/quality/being asked fifty questions as to why you won't accept every add on they ask you about. Car: They initially gave me a Ford Fusion that looked alright but the trunk was very small due to it's odd design and when I got inside it looked like Cookie Monster rented the car before me as there were crumbs all over the front two seats and in the center console. A quick trip back to the counter led to a free upgrade to an almost new 2017 Chevy Impala LTZ which was a really sweet ride in every way. Service: As I mentioned prior, I felt the need to go back to the counter versus sitting in dirt/filth/crumbs and the person I dealt with had no problem giving me keys to whatever as she was mortified about the condition of the first car. It would be nice if they would have someone out in the temporary rental lot to do returns like other companies have but that's not a big deal as the walk to the terminal is very short. Overall it was another good experience with Alamo. They get the fifth star from me simply because over the years they've proven time and time again that at least in this area they have the best mix of service + car selection + price. Even with the small hiccup on the first car I have no problem recommending them to anyone.

Prepare to be downgraded (without any compensation or benefit to you) or given The Hard Nine with being forcibly upsold since there's a good chance the size vehicle you reserved isn't available. 2. Booked satellite radio in advance or chose it as an add on at the counter? Good f-ing luck with that. The agent will tell you the car has it except when you get to the car, you'll find out really quick it's not Sirius XM capable. This location for both Budget and Avis likes to have a lot of Kia vehicles in their fleet except most Kia models in general are not built with Sirius XM as an option. The car radios are from 1995. It's a 1/2 step over having a damn 8-track player. Now comes my favorite part, the old misdirection blame game. If you have any billing issues or issues in general the actual location takes no responsibility and tells you to call the corporate 800#. If you make the mistake of calling them, you get into a conversation with a rep. whose command of English is rudimentary at best and in the end only wants to route you back to the location where the rental was at which of course restarts the cycle all over again. I get it. Budget at times has some decent rates especially if you pre-pay. Don't fall for it. Far too much frustration, bullshit and credit card chargeback headaches needed after the fact to get Budget to make things right and live up to their end of the deal.

It took us over half an hour dealing with an incompetent girl to get a rental car, and we needed assistance from the local police. In the end, we switched to AVIS, which was the same price AND took less than 5 minutes to rent a car. Long story short. We made a reservation a week before the trip to the SFB airport in Orlando, FL for a mid-size SUV. However... once we arrived to Dollar kiosk, the girl with a teenage face told us that they had no car available at the rate we rented the car for. She told us with a smile that for an extra $35 daily, she can upgrade us to a Volvo. We declined and asked for a manager's assistance - she refused to call the manager. We asked for help renting a more affordable car, as they advertise - she refused. We asked again for the manager - she said that he is not present. We did create a new reservation online. The audacity in Dollar Car rental must be on sale, because she refused to further assist us and asked us to leave, but this time - we REFUSED. This immature girl called 911, and an officer had to come and explain to her how to do her job. She almost cried. My wife, meanwhile, made a reservation at AVIS, and after a half-hour nightmare at Dollar / Hertz Rental in SFB, we got a car in a few minutes from AVIS. When we were leaving Dollar / Hertz Car Rental and the officer left, the girl was screaming at us that I can go ahead and call a corporate and make a complaint. I am not sure if she is mentally impaired or just had her period, but we didn't ask. However, I did make two phone calls to Dollar Car Rental customer care after we returned from the vacation. Each time a Dollar rep hangs up on me. So you can see how Dollar / Hertz cares about the quality of their service. Our advice is to avoid unrealistic prices and GARBAGE service at Dollar / Hertz Car Rental, as it may ruin your vacation. You know what they say, you get what you pay for.
