Getting a chef took a bit of time but they more than made up for it by bringing out complimentary nibbles for us all. The chef was amazing, the food was incredible & we laughed away for a couple hours. They embarrassed me with a Happy Birthday song/gong & tiara & fried ice cream ! Loved our experience. Have eaten lunch here many times, both solo and as a couple. I typically grab the sashimi lunch if I'm solo and it is always fresh, well presented, and tasty. Wife does not like sushi so we'll typically order 2 or 3 appetizers. Our go to is the duck spring roll, it is a must try. But everything we've had is worth a repeat. Staff are friendly and service is good. The beer selection is limited but wine list is ok for the price range. Atmosphere is fairly casual and there is occasionally a rowdy group at the hibachi tables which adds to the experience. Give them a try, so far I've never been disappointed. read more

Ok so maybe Christmas Eve isn't the best time to judge a restaurant but this place was busy not packed. I fact there were several empty tables both in the Hibachi side and restaurant side. I usually like the pace of hibachi but this place couldn't get us in and out fast enough. We were asked our drink orders right away which was a good thing. However as we were looking over the menus we were asked at least two times if we were ready to order in a very short amount of time. We clearly weren't since we were still looking at the menu. There was another couple sharing the table and maybe they wanted to move it along for them. Still felt very rushed. The show was great the food not so much. I felt it lacked overall flavor. Several at the table ordered lobster. These were clearly frozen lobster tails from where I don't know because the shells were not from the ones you get around here. They also tasted like tough frozen lobster tails. Fresh lobster is very easy to get around here and is pulled out of the water only miles from this place. My scallops were a tad undercooked. I questioned if my filet was really a filet but the texture suggested it also was previously frozen. The sushi eaters at the table enjoyed their sushi. Our dirty dishes were taken away quickly and the bill appeared seconds after we turned down dessert. Again there was still a lot of empty tables and no one waiting at the door. Came here for Valentines Day and it was extremely busy...as expected. We had a hibachi reservation for 7 and they sat us right on time...which was great! We ordered a couple sushi rolls (Spicy Yellowtail and Shrimp Tempura) to go along with our hibachi meal and they were really tasty! On the downside of things our hibachi chef lacked the enthusiasm of some of the other chefs in the restaurant. I caught myself watching other tables and wishing I was over there instead! He also forgot to serve my fiancé her portion fried rice...so they had to cook it in the kitchen and bring it out. Not the end of the world but cmon man...that really defeats the purpose of hibachi! I ordered the Steak & Scallop meal. The steak was a little overdone but had good flavor. The scallops were perfect! Overall a pretty good meal and a really fun time! If you're sensitive to strong smells and loud sounds this is not the place for you, especially on a busy night. We'll totally be back again soon to try out some of the other sushis. read more

Took myself out for a birthday dinner, but because I was a single patron, I was told to sit in the dining room for my hibachi. Totally ok! But I would have loved to actually get hibachi whilst there. I went to a Benihana many years ago and was expecting a kitschy, caricaturistic romp with an overbearing entertainer distracting me from average fare. I was happily surprised and humbled by the excellent experience: the food was superb and dinner was tiered in such a way that just as we were starting to get hungry after a course had been served, a new course would be presented. The hibachi chef was a true master, managing to prepare outstanding food while engaging us with humor and seemingly magical knife skills as well as more casual conversation. The preparation seemed to last at least an hour which I found astonishing; this is in contrast to most hibachi houses that have their chefs cook for half an hour and move on. Kume is not quite up to this standard, but I doubt Benihana still maintains this standard either, unless they charge double the price. Kume, at least in this location, is a very clean, well-appointed eatery that seals in a festive, Asian-themed atmosphere featuring both hibachi and conventional-style seating. Only when you 'break' the seal and exit the restaurant do you really appreciate the ambiance. My kids have a great time here and usually request Kume (hibachi) as our special event destination. I realized, just yesterday, that I always resist coming here to the hibachi area because I don't like to be entertained while I eat. But now I understand that that really isn't true. Kume times the cooking so that it is over by the time the main course is served, leaving plenty of time for hijinx-free table interaction. Even if this wasn't the case, the hibachi process always draws me in to the fun and I don't think I'd mind if the the chef was there for the whole meal. The food is always above average, if a little over-salted. Sushi is solid and the hibachi menu is simple (filet, scallops, chicken, etc.) but always very good. To conclude, Kume has a winning formula which should appeal to just about everyone. High-energy hibachi style or lower key table style; they even have a really nice bar (at which I believe you can eat) which had me wanting to pull a disappearing act and watch the Sox, even though I'm a Met's fan. Never a bad meal here. We've tried the Benihana-style dining section, where the chef cooks in front of you, and that's fun -- but now we just always go for regular table service. We especially like the Hibachi dinner combos, where you get a sectional plate with stir-fried protein, veg and either plain rice, fried rice or noodles. Everything is always perfectly cooked and service is fast and courteous. They seem to be following all the Covid protocols, too. read more

Wow I just had the worst customer service ever. I went to Kume in Seabrook for their hibachi. I call before hand to make sure the had it running and the guy on the phone said yes. So I made the trip up there. Go in and say I wanted the hibachi. The guy say how many I say one he then tell me they will not open for one. The I ask why didn't you tell me that when I call or I would not have driven that far. The guy tell me to "f off". I leave call the place back asking to talk to the manager. Heard about this place and decided to try. We had super great sushi and atmosphere was great . Everything turned when the shift changed . We went from pleasant and smiling to millennial and entitled. New bartender was a far cry from our experience just minutes prior. Out of her jacket for seconds, this new bartender tended to only her phone. This place is amazing. I don't get down to Seabrook too often but we wanted to take some family out to dinner so there was 4 adults and 4 kids 13 and under. The restaurant wasn't that busy for 5:30 on a weekend, but it was slammed the time we left. We had a reservation so we could get a large grill table for our party. They seated us right away. We started with some apps so I was able to sample their hand rolls, spring rolls and a few other typical things. I had the shrimp and scallop hibachi dinner and my wife had the chicken. Few people at our table had salmon and a few had steak. Everything about the meal was fresh and ample. The shrimp and scallops I had was very large and there were plenty of them. There was tons of parking, the place was immaculately clean and lovely looking, and the staff was pleasant, attentive and professional. They took our order right away. We ordered miso soup, vegetable tempura, and 3 sushi rolls: Lady in Red, Red Dragon, and Beauty and the beast. The sushi was high grade, extremely well made and presented beautifully.
