We had an excellent dinner at Kume. Started with the pot stickers ($5 for 6) and they were done well with a nice char on them. For the entrees we had the mixed tempura ($15) which was perfectly fried and plentiful - 6 shrimp and 6 veggies. Would definitely order again. Also got the sukiyaki which had a nice rich broth and lean slices of meat. Overall....very good food, excellent portions and reasonable prices. read more

We took the family for a hibachi dinner birthday celebration. The hibachi chef was very fun and the food was tasty, especially the shrimp. Just a few things detracted from our meal - (1) the restaurant was freezing cold. Everyone in the hibachi room was wearing winter coats. We speculated that it was something to do with the high powered fans above the grills. Hopefully they figure this out. Going to be a long winter.(2) no drink service. really could have used a refill on my hot tea (3) this is picky, but the $2-3 up charge for fried rice or lo mien noodles bugs me. It's a habichi dinner - it should include rice! (4) Lastly I'm not a fan of shooting sake in to guests mouths. Call me a curmudgeon, but I think this belongs at spring break destinations. read more

This place is new - the only way to go is down - so let's hope they keep being great! I went here with a colleague and we decided to stick with the Hibachi side of things. However, I had the lobster and then was able to taste the chicken, steak and of course the shrimp and everything was really good with only the chicken as the exception and not so horrible that it reduced my 5 star review! All the staff were very attentive and our chef was amazing! In fact I was able to watch three chefs perform their naughty behavior and each was skillful with their culinary talents and all knew exactly how to cater to the various people at each table! If you ever worry about parking - you won't have to here - there is plenty of parking - obviously the place is sparkling clean and new! However, it's not just clean and new - it's really nicely decorated as well - if that matters to you - it doesn't always mean much to me, but keeping a business updated normally means they are concerned with many things and the food quality normally is of a higher standard with things look and ARE good! Yes - selection is great, price is very good, speed of service - excellent and your server doesn't disappear when the chef starts cooking. Though with our chef it wouldn't matter because he too remained focused on our needs! It really doesn't get better than this and I believe this is their third location - so grown is a natural thing when things are this good. I also noticed that it was the least salty food I've ever eaten at a hibachi grill - amazing - means no heart attack! I wasn't able to try any desert, but I"m sure it's better than most place. Just wish I hadn't been so full - you don't leave hungry that's for sure! If you are traveling in the area - I would check this place out and if you live locally around here - I'd make this a regular place of mine! I look forward to a return in a couple of months! If there are any negative reviews - I will urge you to ignore them - this place cannot be this good one day and really bad the next! When you are a professional chef and go to a restaurant you expect to have a good experience. Not the case with KUME in Seabrook. I had never been here, but know others that have and they spoke highly of it. We decided on Hibachi and the waitress delivered soup and salad to me and my party. As I began to eat the salad, I felt something crunch in my mouth. I remove it and discovered what appeared to be a piece of a painted fingernail! It's bad enough to find such a foreign substance in your food, but after bringing it to their attention - they insult my intelligence and state that it's probably just a piece of plastic from the lettuce packaging. Sorry, I have worked with suppliers for years and there is no such thing. To make matters worse, there is zero effort to apologize or offer to make it right. Not even an offer to compensate, they just continued to ignore it and not even take my meal off the bill or offer any means of discount, gift certificate, etc. Needless to say, I will NEVER return!!! So, we visited Kume for the first time tonight. I can say I am really impressed. The atmosphere was light, friendly and I loved that it didn't take itself too seriously. The decor is playful and sleek and you can tell they out a lot of effort into the lighting. The sushi was delicious and the cocktails and appetizer were great too! Was looking forward to this place, hoping to finally have decent Japanese fare for around here. It was awful. I ordered the hibachi dinner combo of swordfish and squid with a side of noodles. The swordfish was overcooked and had the texture of a pencil eraser. The squid was ok but the sauce lacked flavor as did the noodles and veggies, which were cold. The dipping sauce didn't arrive until AFTER I was through with my meal. I'm willing to give this place a 2nd chance and try the sushi but they really need to step up to the plate in the hibachi dept. read more

Tried this place 3 times so far, for some reason their noodle soup dishes always come out lukewarm- even when they tell us to be careful that it is hot! The bowl may be warm but the soup inside cooled down significantly- probably due to being poured over cold ingredients. The rolls are ok. The tempuras are fresh and fried well. Do NOT get the mango chicken dish, it is absolutely horrendous. Service is pretty terrible overall. Every time we went, the servers never check in or fill up water, and we have to wave them down to ask for anything. read more

This restaurant sucks,we came here and ordered seaweed salad, stir fry combo udon, beef negimaki, crispy soft shell crab, and sushi. The negimaki with only six tiny beef rolls but with a plate as long as my arm. The beef and chicken in the fry udon taste like have put there for two months, and I think they used too much meat tenderizer which is harmful for human beings. Seaweed salad put over a whole lettuce, we had seaweed salad in other places, never saw like this. Btw these shit cost 80 bucks. Ok first with the positive, food was good. We had sushi and it was very fresh. We also had the swordfish from the hibachi and it was tasty. Now to the bad, the service was HORRIBLE. I don't know why but our waitress was extremely rude. She seemed to have an attitude as soon as she came to our table. Anytime we asked for something she scowled and walked away. When she brought over pineapple fried rice there was no serving spoon. When we asked for a spoon she literally threw it on the table at us. This happened more than once. Maybe she was having a bad night but her behavior was really inexcusable. Too bad because the food is good. Maybe if you sit in the hibachi area the service is better. read more

Don't be turned off because this restaurant is in Seabrook NH it's clean and has great fresh sushi. I am extremely picky of where I eat sushi from and it's just not something I want to take a chance on but I'm so glad I tried Kume. It's great, the presentation of the sushi is very decorative and it taste just as good as it looks! Also, the lobster Rangoon they have is out of this world! I came with my family for regular eat in service and it took 3 hours to get our complete meal, took another half hour to get the check. inconsistent with their food. gave us ice cold steak and tried to pass it off, waitress avoiding us I won't be coming back. again, the first time was amazing, but after this id rather sit in traffic leaving a patriots post season game than wait for their service. read more

Despite what other reviews this restaurant has, I don't think they justify the overall quality of dining. We had had sushi, which was probably not a great idea as it was not fresh. kume has great Philadelphia rolls & wonderful beef nagamaki. their sushi is fine otherwise. the drinks aren't strong enough. the very worst part is the music! iv'e been there a few times & every time there is really irritating music being played too loud. music like taylor swift & something that sounds like greenday. really grating harsh sounding music that hurt my ears & made me feel angry. i hope they read this & that there is some leeway for management to reconsider the music they're playing there because it mars the experience. i'm back because i wanted to make mention of something else, although i haven't been back there yet. when you order a seaweed salad it comes on a bed of iceburg lettuce. i hate that. since that is negative i would like to mention something positive. their philadelphia rolls are great. the smoky flavor is very pronounced. read more
