We've been waiting for this place to open for months. We pass by it every day and have slowly watched it transform. We finally got the chance to check it out a few weeks ago, and to be honest, I was very disappointed. It was just the two of us going for hibachi, and we ended up waiting for a while, probably 40 minutes of so. And they do have a bar in one area of the building but we didn't feel like drinking so we sat at the sushi bar area because there wasn't a waiting area near the front door. Because of this we got asked if we needed to order anything about 4 times. Which is nice to know that if we did want sushi or something we would be able to order, but was a little tiresome explaining that we were still waiting for a hibachi table. (Btw the sushi looked really beautiful, I don't eat fish but I kind of wish I did with how nice it looked). Once we finally sit down at the hibachi table we see that the cook top is still dirty, with brown grease stains and worst of all a couple little crusty pieces of old rice. We sit there with anxiety for about another 30 minutes for the hibachi chef to show up, hoping that he'll notice the rice and clean the cook-top. He has to see it, right? Meanwhile the table next to us is getting pretty vocal about how long they've been waiting for a chef to show up. Once ours finally shows up, I'm just about to be the annoying vocal person and point out that the table is dirty when he just dumps all the food onto the cook-top, mixing the new rice in with the crusty old rice. Now we're pretty annoyed, since the rice is one of our favorite parts. The show was good, the chicken was good, the price is lower than the competitors, and they even give you a side of noodles in addition to the rice which I really liked since I always have a hard time picking between the two, but the rice was hard and had that old-rice or under-cooked or something consistency. On top of all that I was a little un-appetized thinking of how the table was dirty. They seemed like they were in a little over their head since they recently opened so I would like to give them another shot, but we are moving soon and likely won't come back here again. read more

They are simply disorganized and bad. In my opinion the worst Japanese restaurant in the area. Seeing all the other bad reviews, I wasn't looking forward to trying this place, but decided to try it anyway. I placed an order for takeout on the phone and was told 15-20 minutes, and when I got there to pickup they had a hard time finding my order on their computer but eventually found it. The order was not ready yet, so I stood around waiting for a while. From the time I ordered on the phone to when I actually got my food, it took around 40 minutes total. I wasn't the only one that the food order took much longer than they stated it would, as a couple of other customers ordered in advanced and were waiting to pickup for a long time too. When I got home I noticed one of the item they gave me was wrong. I ordered a chicken hibachi for my kid, but they gave me a shrimp hibachi instead. My kid doesn't prefer to eat shrimp but luckily is not allergic, so we just ate it because she was hungry and I was not going to drive back again and wait another 40 minutes for my correct order. I also ordered the Maki Combination which has 3 rolls (tuna, salmon, yellowtail) and it's the saddest Maki Combination I've ever had. I've had Maki Combinations at many other restaurants before, but this restaurant gave the cheapest rolls you can get (it literally is just a small piece of fish with a little bit of rice rolled with seaweed - typically some of the cheapest rolls at a Japanese restaurant when ordered separately). No cucumber, no avocado, nothing else in the rolls at all. The rolls were also pretty flavorless as the rice was not seasoned sushi rice neither. While I was not expecting any great high quality rolls, for the price of what they charged for the Maki Combination, I wasn't expecting just these plain and small rolls. Considering the price of all their food are a bit more expensive than a few of the other Japanese restaurants in the area, I was expecting at least a little better. Overall I do not plan to go there again. While I was waiting around for my food at the restaurant, I also noticed how disorganized they were in general. Some groups of people arrived for their reservations, especially one large party, and they had a seemingly hard time handling them. As other people arrived for that large party, they couldn't even tell the people whether their group was there already, so the other people were left standing there trying to figure out by texting their friends to find out they are already inside. This happened to a few people. I cannot comment on how it is when someone actually got inside and sat down, but things by the front counter was just seemingly very disorganized. read more

BUYER BEWARE. We ordered through Grubhub. Great delivery, HORRIBLE FOOD, and did NOT prepare food properly. I ordered a "special" roll. IMITATION CRAB. Over $17 for a regular sized sushi roll that was SUPPOSED to have king crab, but had FAKE crab. Also gave white rice on rolls that we asked be prepared with brown rice. Did NOT provide sides of spicy mayo as asked and sent STEAMED gyoza instead of pan fried. The gyoza had almost no pork, was mostly vegetable, was soggy, bland and disgusting. DO NOT BUY. read more

We came here for NYE dinner and left a bit disappointed. This place has been doing soft open for a bit now, but officially had the grand opening flag out for the holiday. We had made reservations for 9 people at 7, and arrived to a bustling scene and a long wait for check-in. Thankfully we had arrived early, and got checked in just before 7 - though they had no tables available. We were finally seated maybe 20 after, and then didn't see a server until probably nearly 7:45. At this point we told them we would really like to order food right then, and after telling us no several times, they finally agreed to do drinks (we had all already gone to the bar for drinks by this point) and dinner in one visit. We made our order and then waited. Soup and salads arrived, and waters - we asked for salt. We had to wait for the seltzers we had ordered, a long time. Still no salt. We tried going and looking for it ourselves and were told they'd bring it. Asked 2 more times when they started cooking, finally gave up. Rather incredible. Asked for refills on drinks, never came. No one checked on whether we would like refills on alcoholic drinks at all. Came to refill water once - filled two glasses and ignored the other 7, never returned. The food was really good, once we got a cook. The last time I did this at the previous spot, the cooks had a lot more personality - they interacted a bit with us, but not much. The food was great though. Again waited forever for the check, and then for someone to take it - finally we walked up to the register and tried to just pay, only to be told we needed to return to our table and wait. Really seemed like the staff were not well-trained yet and they were absolutely not prepared for a busy holiday. Unfortunately this will leave a bad taste in many mouths. read more

My parents and boyfriend tried their take out for dinner and were mostly disappointed. My boyfriend's General Taos Chicken didn't have the expected spice or flavor and his rice came with a long black hair for extra protein (GROSS). My parents ordered Pad See Ew and it lacked flavor and texture. The only reason this review is 2 stars is because the pork friend rice and salmon tempura were okay, and I thought the Chicken Pad Thai was delicious. Overall, the experience wasn't great. read more

What a shit show. Sat at hibachi table after sliding across ice rink they call a floor. Somebody is going go get seriously hurt by falling down. Bathroom floor even worse, it is some kind of gold metal tile and greased up nicely. There seemed to by 2 chefs for 8 or so tables and everyone was waiting for service. Finally someone took our drink order after 15 minutes (screwed it up a couple of times too but in his defense he was running from table to table as he seemed to be the only server in the room. Also, ordered a salmon roll as an appetizer and was told the Sushi was backed up and would be at least 30 minutes so recommended not ordering. Food was OK but not worth the wait and aggravation. This is our favorite place! The bartender Alex is the best around. We love the blue mango tuna, the rock shrimp and the hibachi. We bring our special needs daughter there all the time for her favorite fried rice and everyone is so nice to her. They also have great karaoke on the weekends. So much fun. read more

We always go for the hibachi and the chef is fantastic, the show is great and always a thrill. while the food portions are large and scrumptious! Came in for sushi for two on a Thursday night and had a good time. The restaurant looks great after the remodel and certainly has a more upscale feel to it. Other reviews have mentioned slow service, but we didn't encounter that at all, so those experiences may have been due to growing pains since they only recently re-opened. The sushi was great! We each ordered a couple of standard rolls and a couple of specialty rolls. The rice on the standard rolls was perfectly cooked and the ingredients were fresh. The specialty rolls were very tasty and beautifully presented. We both appreciated that the ingredients were well-proportioned in the specialty rolls and that they were not drowned in specialty sauce the way many other sushi restaurants make theirs. Pricing was fair and in line with other sushi restaurants in the area. We'll be eager to come back and try them for hibachi next time! read more

This place was phenomenal! My first time in a place like this and it will not be my last. Went with some close friends and their family! I am very impressed. The food was delicious, tender, flavorful and cooked perfect. Don't trust these other Yelp reviews(the negative ones). You would be a fool if you don't try this place at least once. We went about 6pm, not a heavy crowd around that time. When we were leaving around 8pm it was much busier. They seemed to manage the crowd very well. Also everyone was so nice, all of the staff. Decided to come here for hibachi and celebrating my mom's birthday. First time since the renovations and had a great experience. Everyone was so nice, service was good but our chef was even better and super entertaining (especially for the new press!) and the food was delicious. We were eagerly awaiting Shogun to be renovated as me and my family enjoy Sushi and Hibachi. When Kumo 27 opened we planned to visit it and as I write this review I am in the restaurant. I have to tell you that I am super disappointed by their service and quality of food. We were four people and sat in the regular (non-Hibachi) seating area next (left) to the main entrance. We awaited 10mins before someone came to pick our order and then soup delivery took long, service was slow. They did not give any cutlery (silver) to eat. When main course were served, the waiter forgot to serve white rice and soup and we called for him after 5mins. He then realized that he missed it .... I understand human pressure but there were others around the area receiving the same slow service .... Very disappointed and will probably not visit again !!!! read more

Stopped in yesterday, called in to make sure they were open and was told they had happy hour till 3pm (food and drinks). I stopped in with some other people and we were rudely told that "we must have called a different restaurant because we don't have that." And the lunch items that they do have end at 2:30 not even 3pm like they had told us. Needless to say it was a pretty frustrating experience and it was the first time I've been in the restaurant in a while and it definitely seems like they are losing their touch at least for customer service. We had a sushi dinner and the spicy tuna rolls were very good! A spicy tuna roll is typically the only sushi I order and i have seen a LOT of disappointing tuna rolls... this was not one of them. We had high hopes, excited to have a hibachi restaurant near our home. We want local businesses to succeed, do we went for dinner. Alas, it was quite disappointing. We ordered hibachi chicken dinner. Food was tasteless. Floors were sticky to walk upon. Hibachi surface were not very clean. The chair I sat on had cracks in it. The only good part of the whole meal was green tea ice cream which was included in the meal. I hope they can raise their standard. Would go back if we read reports of improvement. read more

I went last night to try Hibachi since the Shogun closed. Very disappointed in the service. Seated at 7 pm, no one came to the table until 720 pm to take a drink order. 1 person went to find manager but no manager then finally what seemed to be only server showed up. 10 minutes later our drinks arrived(water). Then another 20 minutes went by and still no food order taken. After 2 other women at table went to find manager and finally our food order was taken. Then we all noticed that tables all seated after us, 1/2 hour after, were already eating soup and salad. We still had nothing. I finally went to front counter and said I am not understanding why tables seated 1/2 hour after us are eating and we have nothing. The woman comes to our table and says to everyone"did you get your soup and salad" and we all screamed NO. Well all of a sudden soup, salad, and the chef came to our table. Along with some free sushi, which we tried to order but waitress said it's a 1/2 hour wait so we changed our minds. Needless to say, we finally got food at 830 pm, an hour and a half after seating. Will not be returning, and by the way the steak was so chewy I couldn't eat it. read more

We went there tonight to support local business. We ordered. My husband off the regular menu I ordered hibachi. Waitress said mine would be prepared in kitchen. No problem. Then she sat some additional people and said now the chef would prepare mine as well ok. Waited almost 30 minutes they bring my husband's meal chef comes out a few minutes later and only has the other people's food. Can't find waitress anywhere. Go to talk to someone she starts listening and then the phone rings she answers and walks away. I go back to table chef has served the other people so I decided to leave. As my husband walks out waitress runs after him. She tells me chef was kidding I said he has already served the rice and noodles and none for me she has me pay for my husbands meal and drinks. I came for birthday as first time been this hibachi restaurant . I ordered Shrimp and scallops. It was small than usually. My wife orders steak. But The steak was rubbery and over cooked. Vegetables tasted burnt. Hibachi tables so dirty that I never see before and smell gas all around. They also charge you five dollar for a small birthday candle.....only noodles okay. But I won't be returning. I promise You guys will regret if u try this hibachi restaurant. DON'T COME.!!! DONT COME!!! read more

Terrible, Terrible, Ordered 2 Hibachi dinners for pick-up. When we got home the food looked delicious. Once we started to eat it, is was actually pretty disgusting. The chicken tasted rubbery, and the steak tasted awful. Don't know what spices they put on it but it was nasty. Noodles & their fried rice tasted like cardboard. The soup that was included tasted so salty, like someone poured a whole container of salt in it. All and all we were very disappointed. Well we won't be going there again!!! First time at this restaurant. Busy Friday night. Putting in drink orders and food orders were a bit slow, but after that things went very well for a large party of 9. They forgot 1 soup and salad but were very quick to remedy. Waiter came by regularly to check on us. Drink orders were received timely. Food was excellent. Chef was very skilled with a moderate personality. We saw others with more but he wasn't dull either. They were attentive to our needs and food was excellent. Prices were competitive. I normally don't write a review after just one experience but this really warranted it. First off the waiter was all over the place. He came over to take our order but kept talking to the table of HS girls next to us about a picture he took for them just before. At the same time they sat a HUGE table of 15 next to us with not enough chairs so they were just standing crowding around our table with no masks on. When we tried to communicate our order to them it was impossible for the waiter to hear us over the table of 15 loitering around. The waiter did not know how to sub out a roll for my meal and was almost unaccommidating about it. We had questions about food items (I have a dairy allergy) that we did not even get a chance to ask because he walked away. The soup and salad arrived and I asked about the dressing as I have an allergy and instead of working with me he simply took it away. Never again! read more

Hard to describe the experience.... First we order beer and I ask for water and at the same time the bartender yells "I need to see your ID," when I just asked for water. My mom ordered two beers right away due to happy hour prices, she never received the second one. We order two salads and ask if it has ginger dressing. It comes and the dressing is mayonnaise with sesame oil. The seaweed salad had an awful dressing but we just ate it. No one got any plates or silverware even after the salads came. All the rest of it was reuseable plates and silverware. We ordered two pad Thais and sushi for three people. They brought the second beer, wrong one, and gave us an attitude for asking for the right one. The pad Thai had pasta sauce and smelled foul and came on a plastic plate that you could tell was microwaved. They lied and said the chef made the sauce when we tried to send it back. We had to insist and after, the waitress was extremely hostile. She aggressively tossed out the pad Thai in front of us. 20 minutes later our sushi came out. The beer had black specks (Sapporo tap) due to unsanitary conditions. We got the check and they charged us for bottled Sapporo at regular price. We normally asked them to correct it. Four workers including the bartender and manager started yelling at us and talking over us and lied to our face. They were refusing to change the beer price because the check was at 6:45 and happy hour ended at 6... Eventually they changed it all the while yelling and being super hostile. There is not even enough to give one star. This is just beyond anything I've ever experienced. The food is horrible, the workers are all rude and lie to your face, over all horrible and hostile. I can't even believe we paid for it, it was warranted to just tell them we are leaving. read more
