Probably one of the best AYCE sushi restaurants in New Jersey that I've been to. Only knock is that the price is a bit steep, but given the variety and the speed of service here, it is at least justified. We visited as a group of ~8 on a weekday evening for dinner. Service was quick. Although we had plans afterwards so we were not in full optimization mode for this AYCE excursion, we ate a decent amount and did not ever feel like we were being slowed down or not helped, despite other diners in the restaurant. They have sashimi, nigiri, rolls, and a lot of other Asian sides and fares. A good variety to just having fish! I especially recommend the galbi and the yuzu if you have the room in your stomach. I've been committed to trying as many restaurants near my job as I can this summer, so as part of that I came here over my lunch break for a takeout order. The inside did have a nice darker Asian themed decor to it. I got a bento box with salmon. There is a good amount of food here for the price, but most of it was overdone. Salmon was dry and overcooked, but was saved by the sauce. Sushi was decent, but nothing to write home about. Miso soup and salad are as middle of the road as it gets. Not bad for sure, but in an area flush with Asian cuisine options, it may not be my first pick. read more

Our family is careful to specify allergies and dietary restrictions in every order we place. The restaurant's QR system, which is then checked by a person, even notes them on our ticket! Despite taking all of the necessary precautions on our end, even writing on the order request: "Please cook separately in clean cookware and prep space"-- this is the THIRD TIME in month that I have found meat in my food!!! To rate this anything other than 5 stars when you're getting amazing quality from an AYCE restaurant is absolutely absurd. My standards for food at all-you-can-eat buffets are pretty low, since I know the restaurant's priority is to get food out of the kitchen as fast as possible. But upon dining at Hiro, I realized that the food was fresh and surprisingly...tasted amazing! Asian Bistro is definitely an appropriate name for this restaurant as they serve a variety of cuisines, ranging from Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Thai. My group attempted to try food from each and surprisingly, they did a great job in making each of these different dishes and flavor profiles. From the beef short ribs (MUST GET, they were so tender & flavorful!) to the ho fun (so addicting!) they really nailed their recipes. A large reason why we wanted to try Hiro was because of the expansive menu with so much more than just sushi, making this a great place to eat at even if you aren't a raw fish kind of person. Their sushi was great and fresh, but we definitely gravitated more towards the cooked foods during this visit. The service was speedy without feeling rushed, even though we were dining during peak hours and the restaurant was packed. Surprisingly, each time we ordered food none were forgotten and we didn't have to constantly ask for updates on our order, something that often happens at AYCE establishments I've been to in the past. We even mentioned that we were celebrating a birthday and was offered a free birthday dessert, enough to share with the entire group! Not every dish from here was a favorite, and that's completely okay, since their menu has 50 other items to choose from that you can order endlessly. Hiro is an AYCE sushi buffet that also offers a la carte services. I have been here multiple times and can safely say that this is probably the best AYCE sushi buffet in the Central NJ area. Even if there is a wait, we have never waited longer than 30 minutes for a table. The service is very prompt and waiters are very good at checking on you and refilling your drinks, cleaning up your table, or asking you if everything is good. The food is ordered via paper and pencil, you select what you want and provide it to the waiter. They send the order to the kitchen and you receive the food when it comes out. For an AYCE buffet, the fish quality is consistently pretty good at Hiro. They offer Nigiri and Sashimi on the menu, as well as classic and specialty rolls. If I could suggest one thing it'd be adding hand rolls to the menu. The tuna and salmon here are consistently good and the yellowtail was surprisingly good. They have a bunch of different appetizers ranging from edamame, sushi pizza, to tartar, most of them are actually very good. The kitchen entrees are very good as well such as the kimchi fried rice and the Mongolian beef. Although it's not the most spacious inside, the way they set up the booths and tables it gives you enough separation from other tables to not feel super crammed inside. Soooooooo disappointed. Ok food, some of it not fresh. We were completely rushed. The waitress literally said we have 2 min to order when we sat down at 9:40pm. I know they said order quickly- but I didn't think it would be that absurd. I stared at her in disbelief then rushed to look at the options. FYI the kitchen closes NO LATER than 9:45 - do not be deceived about the 10:30pm closing time! Unlike most restaurants that will set the closing time earlier so you don't have to rush out in a chaotic fashion, they expect you OUT by 10:30pm and they will make it very clear that you know- getting stared down, impolite service, rushed bill. Felt it was very overpriced for what it was AND they charged me $20 extra for not much food left. Another strange thing is I absolutely could've sworn I ordered yellowtail sashimi and while eating realized it was white tuna. When I asked the waitress about it she brought over the menu to show I ordered white tuna. It didn't look like my handwriting though and there was a marker smudge underneath. She told me to "just leave it on the plate." We asked for a box and the one waitress gave us 3 tiny ones that the food didn't fit into and then it appeared to anger another waitress as she confronted this staff member then told her to go home. No biggy on asking for more boxes, but just found this strange. Like they didn't get to triple check how much food is left on our plate even though they really rushed us. Ambiance is standard - a bunch of booths and sushi bar. It's BYOB. I used to really like it here but this just put a totally bad taste in my mouth. Don't think I'll be back anytime soon. I've been here several times now and the food has never disappointed. Hiro is certainly a popular spot on Fridays and Saturdays and expect a wait for a table as the place fills up. The service has always been friendly and efficient. They have outdoor seating as well as comfy booths and tables inside. The All You Can Eat sushi menu at around $35 is a huge hit. My husband ordered this the past two times we've been here and he's enjoyed his selections. I'm not a huge eater, so the cost of this would be lost on me. On this visit we ordered Drunken Noodles with vegetables (very flavorful and delicious), Beef Lo Mein, and Thai Basil Chicken. Everything was great! This is by far one of the best places to eat. The food and cooking is delightful, flavorful, unique, diverse, and always fresh. This is a must go to place. The owner and service are wonderful and kind. If you want a brilliant taste explosion things like Mongolian beef, the surprisingly inventive Sushi pizza (if have not had beautiful sushi flavor on fluffy scallion pancakes you haven't lived), and their drunken noodle are some of my favorites. We were next door for an amazing spa treatment, and felt like trying the wonderful Hiro Japanese restaurant. A crowd of young people had just left, the host warmly greeted and welcomed us, giving us a quiet table. The brilliant soundtrack gave us the right vibe, a soft background to our conversation. When we asked questions about the menu, they were promptly answered. We chose tobiko, an elegant presentation, so fresh, delicately appearing on an olive wood tray. There's little doubt that the restaurant business is a tough slog with Inflation, turnover, government regulation and ever shifting consumer preferences all conspiring to make it a crap shoot. Many places start out on fire offering a fresh menu and stellar service only to drift slowly towards mediocrity as the harsh realities of the trade catch up with them. When they opened a few years back, Hiro was a revelation. Constantly packed and deservedly so. Yesterday, after a six month hiatus, we walked into an almost empty restaurant and were charitably, underwhelmed. My wife hates sushi as much as I love it and always orders her usual retinue of greatest hits Chinese off the menu. While the sushi is still fine for the most part, her portions were half-sized and there's no excuse for sesame chicken that comes out cold making it obvious that the dish is prepared in bulk and sits around until required. Despite being an AYCE, the joint ain't cheap, having climbed from about $25 a few years back to nearly $40 when you include the upcharge for credit. I suspect we'll go back at some point but I won't be sprinting to the entrance. A very unfortunate two stars. read more

We were in Princeton, NJ looking for some asian cuisine and Hiro popped up on Yelp. I've always enjoyed variety and loved the fact that you can order all-you-can-eat (in 90 min) asian food was novel. The menu ranged from Thai, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes that did not disappoint. We started off modestly sampling a few dishes and reloaded on items we enjoyed (Korean Spare Ribs!). They have a large menu you can order off of and a lot of special roll options for an AYCE buffet, but to be honest all the rolls sound pretty similar- some mixture of salmon, tuna, crab, shrimp, avocado, or eel. Food options beside sushi were disappointing. Tempura was not the flaky crispy kind, didn't come with tempura sauce, not much tempura options available- shrimp and sweet potato, no ice cream included as part of the buffet. They do have Thai and Chinese food options as part of the buffet ie. Pad Thai, drunken noodles, lo mein which I have not seen before at other other establishments...but I was not interested in getting full on carbs. read more

The menu is laminated and you are provided with a dry erase marker to indicate how many of each item you want. I ordered off the menu, vegetable fried rice, received a plate of rice with bean sprouts and a handful of broccoli pieces scattered around the plate. Absolutely no flavor to the rice. The rest of my party ordered ayce and were very disappointed. The fried scallops were not recognizable - seemed to be some sort of pressed fish out of the freezer section of Dollar General. The sushi was good, but if you don't ask for regular soy sauce (and you wouldn't know to ask) the "soy" sauce on the table is laced with sugar. The environment is loud at dinner. Ambiance is very casual so great for a quick lunch with coworkers or friends. So happy I got to try this restaurant! I was looking for a sushi place for my birthday and had never tried All You Can Eat before. It was so fun! The booths are reeeeeeaally long but sat 6 of us comfortably. A little dark in there with the shades down but all good. Just as others mentioned on here, you get a dry erase marker and make your selections. Some people chose not to do all you can eat and they were happy with what they chose. The sashimi? Yeah, out of this world. Totally worth it just for the freshness and deliciousness! The Shumai app was really tasty. The rock shrimp app also superb! Crunchy and delicious. I also love trying sweet potato rolls at every sushi place I go to. This one was TOP TIER!! Crispy on the outside with a good amount of perfectly cooked sweet potato. Just scrumptious. The white tuna truffle was okay, I liked the regular tuna sashimi better myself. Amazing Grace roll was okay, nothing crazy. I was looking for a non spicy roll and that was one of them. My Dad did love the drunken noodles, as was highly recommended on this app, and raved about the crab rangoon. Also, everyone got Thai iced tea because it was so yummy! If they did not offer the AYCE sashimi, this would have been a 4 star in my book. Dined on Sunday for a birthday party for all you can eat sushi for$35.95 per person. We liked white fish ceviche and yuzu salmon, they were fresh and the sauce was just a right amount. Korean style beef short ribs were sweet and the meat quality was good. The yellowtail sushi was fresh but too much of a sushi rice. The rolls we ordered, California, shrimp tempura, salmon skin, eel cucumber and rainbow rolls were all tasted fresh.
