I'm a sucker for a buffet, and I've always been a sucker for Kumo, from before and after COVID-19. I went here for the first time after a long while. Thankfully, the disposable plates were gone and replaced with proper plates once again. The dinner-time sushi was great. A good selection of rolls as well as some nigiri and sashimi. All of the sushi tasted fresh, and being a buffet, I, of course, went for seconds. The cooked seafood options were delicious as well. I liked the frog legs, shrimp, mussels, fried flounder, and calamari. The Chinese-American staples like the egg roll, potstickers, Chinese donuts, and mango chicken were OK. I was a bit disappointed with the lo mein. Not as flavorful as I remembered, though it wasn't bad. In spite of the fact that I was stuffed, I went for dessert. I got a slice of lemon bundt cake. New to me were the tubs of green tea and red bean ice cream, which I was delighted to see. Now $21.99 per person for dinner, which I still consider to be worth it. They do now automatically add a 12% gratuity, which I'm fine with, as I typically tip 20% anyway. They live up to their name. Many dishes prepared with shrimp, calamari, octopus. They have BBQ meat, chicken and other American foods. Their desserts vary from fresh fruits to bakery. I highly recommend giving it a try. read more

There was a sign outside said senior special at 3 $13.99 includes drink. When we got our bill they charged us full price for the buffet plus charged us for the drinks and added on a gratuity without even telling us. We are in are 70's so we definitely look senior. I went there yesterday as my usual buffet was closed for renovation. We'll that restaurant lost a customer. Kumo was so much better. Amazing sushi selection, and they were labeled. Just a little but I liked it. Fantastic won ton soup. A good brother and won tons. They have an extensive dim sum section. Great pick dumplings As for the Chinese food it self Fantastic. The only not so great item was the New York beef. It was tough. The service was wonderful. They brought me a refill on my ice tea without being asked. Tried this for the first time yesterday with my fam and loved it. My parents are longtime fans of their seafood selection and I gotta say it's not bad! There is a big selection of cooked seafood, which is my jam! I tried sea whelk for the first time but I feel like they were really overcooked; taste was not bad though. The soup selection was really good and I found that the wontons in beef brisket broth was bomb. I loved their sauce bar where I could add extra scallions and cilantro to anything. They even had a little crepe station for mini crepes with jam. Dessert section could've been better. There were not many choices and no ice cream. I have heard friends talk this place up for years, so my expectations going in were admittedly pretty high. I have to admit I was let down. Firstly, the service... we arrived at 11:30 on a Wednesday. There was no one at the host stand. I waited a couple of minutes. I saw employees working on the buffet. I was wondering if we were supposed to seat ourselves. I made my way over to the employee working on setting up the buffet to ask her if we were supposed to seat ourselves when the host appeared from behind us and asked if we wanted a table or booth. He apologized and said he needed to use the restroom. When we were seated, we went to the buffet. Dissappingly, the fried selections, including the tempura vegetables, egg rolls, cheese sticks, and chicken wings, were cold and not good at all. My whole reason for coming. In fact, the reason I didn't leave when there was no host to greet us was the sushi. So many have talked up the vast selection and great quality of the sushi. Sadly, I found the quality to be okay but not what I was expecting. I also found the offerings to be a bit pedestrian. Very limited. Visited Kumo with the family recently after smacking some golf balls at Top Golf down the road. I called ahead to see if their dining room was open due to the recent lifting of the buffet ban in Ohio. Sure enough, the buffet was open, but in a different configuration than normal. They were serving a full line of sushi, but their hot food selections were limited. For example, there was no salmon, whitefish, or crepes. I primarily dined on sushi, but I tried some spicy mushrooms as well. The food is as good as ever and this was the first buffet that I've dined at in over a year. So I was happy to get my grub on. We used the hand sanitizer quite a bit and they issued plastic utensils and styrofoam plates. Didn't both me though. I missed my buffets so much! read more

Its supposed to be a buffet the people next to us got charged six dollars and something a pound for eating the crab. There's no sign up there to indicate that it's extra. They charge you $1.50 extra if you want ice cream from the back if you want an extra one I thought the idea of a buffet is all you can eat. Stopped Shashi when I asked for the guy back there got really nasty with me. Why would I want to come back? It's very disappointing for $25 a person. This place has slowly gone downhill. This once was a family favorite. My extended family would come here to meet on special days. I'm unsure if we will now. The quality and variety have been lacking. The buffet used to be extensive with a crepe station and multiple buffet aisles and even an ice cream bar. Now, it's one sad semi-circle of subpar food. The fried rice is just colored rice. There are no peas and other vegetables that once were mixed in with the rice. It's pretty obvious that that place is cutting costs. This is understandable since the economy isn't so good and many people are struggling. However, I feel inclined to write something since my hot pot was served in a broken bowl. When I inquired about this, the server just told me it was for decoration and doesn't actually hold my soup. Decoration means it's supposed to look good... not ghetto. read more

As a long time customer, I understood this type of situation where the restaurant's not busy and ready to close up for a day. So I stayed and ate my food. But then, a server brought a check that included 12% gratuity! As I mentioned, it was only two of us and the restaurant decided to include 12% gratuity for bringing couple of waters and took 3 empty dishes from the table. Do not go here. Kumo is my #1 go-to buffet whenever I feel like having some Japanese food! I use to go to Double Dragon Buffet before I knew Kumo existed, and unfortunately, they closed back then due to Covid. My grandma told me about Kumo and the first day I went there, I fell in love. Kumo has a wide variety of foods, not just seafood, but rice, noodles, chicken, pork, beef, etc. And even dessert! The raw fish is safe to eat. (At least from my experience. I ate a raw octopus and I never got sick, the cooks there know what they're doing) The staff there are nice. And it's cheaper than other sushi places I've been to. And when it comes to ordering on UberEats, I choose their poke bowls, and they never disappoint! It's also one the sushi places close to where I live. Not too far. I've been to other places like Kintaro and Fuji, but Kumo is my #1. Always will be. 10/10. My favorite sushi place ever. read more

Opened back up for dine-in with every other booth and table roped off. Buffet is covered in plastic wrap and you point to what you want which is then portioned on a paper plate for you to eat with plastic utensils. Diet Coke came in a can. Salmon was hot in a sweet sauce but woefully overdone. "New York steak" was basically black pepper beef chunks with bell pepper hunks and celery pieces but was flavorful and not too overcooked. Mango chicken was burning hot and basically orange chicken. There were fried balls with some sort of what I think was a sweet bean filling and some sesame seeds on the outside which were dry and hard to chew. The coconut shrimp (wet breaded) was probably the only somewhat above average dish in flavor and freshness. The fried calamari was all cool in temperature and tough to chew. The tuna and salmon nigiri were respectable. The rest of the sushi items had dry rather hard rice. You can't expect much from a freshly reopened buffet with hardly any customers now in a CoVid-affected era, so don't come thinking anything "buffet" is back to regular (read: average) quality. They tried but still earn 3 stars. This cost $16.99 for a buffet which stunk and $1.99 for Diet Coke with refills for a total of over $20 bucks! Way too much for this low level of quality. read more

I ordered Kumo for takeout and got 2 poke bowls, 1 spicy tuna roll, and their large box. For takeout Japanese food, this is definitely the cheapest for pricing. What you have to understand is that based on the pricing, you ARE NOT going to get the best quality sushi. I absolutely took this into consideration writing this review. I based my review compared to other lower quality and cheap Japanese restaurants. Knowing already that the quality would be lower than other places I've gotten sushi, my expectations were not high. The reason why this is only getting a 2-star is because the tuna in my poke bowl was extremely not fresh. If I had to describe the taste, I would say that it tasted like what sewer water smells like. It was not good at all. I'm glad there were only 4 thin slices of tuna in my poke bowl--if there was any more than that, I probably would have thrown it out. My salmon If anyone is planning on getting takeout here, I would absolutely recommend their cooked foods. If you're looking for affordable and great Chinese/Japanese takeout, you've found it here! Their "Large Box" comes with 3 choices of main dishes and your choice of noodles or rice. For $10, this was a HUGE portion of food. Their cooked food is very good. I am so sad, Kumo was a family favorite of ours. My husband and I dined there regularly and it was always clean, good food, warm and fresh. Great deal for the price. My husband died six years ago and it has been that long since I've been there. My son and I were driving by and decided to make a nostalgic visit. What a disappointment, we walked in, it smelled and felt greasy. Walked around the buffet and NORTHING looked appealing. Came back to our seats with our lightly filled plates, took a few bites and knew we couldn't eat the food. It was cold and looked like it had been sitting out for days. The sushi was nearly all the chopped/diced filler wrapped in rice. The sashimi was limited to white fish that seemed like it had been sitting a while. Calamari was oily, chicken was mostly breading, and the sauce bar looked like it may be dangerous to partake. For a Friday at 7, it was fairly empty, but they did seat a table of 6 (mostly young children) next to me within range to be hit with noodles more than 3 times. With noodles on my table and noodles on my leg, I decided it was time to go. And because you're probably wondering, it's $23.88 per person before tip. The buffet is expensive but the food poisoning is free. It's been nearly a year since I last ate there because I got sick after eating back then. Well, the memory faded and like a fool I went there again. I was sick for four days after eating there this time too. This is day five since eating there and today is the first time I could keep food down. I'm pretty sure it was the pepper fish that was bad. It was barely room temperature. I was worried after eating it. It sat on my stomach like a rock. I was awakened just after midnight with vomiting and pain in my stomach. This lasted for four days. One bite of anything and it would come back up violently in seconds. I will never eat at this place again and I recommend you don't either if you value your health. The one positive I can take from this experience is that I don't want to eat a restaurant again. I'm going to be eating at home as much as possible from now on. read more

We came to this buffet restaurant around 6:30 pm and we were seated immediately. The staff was prompt and they brought us water quickly. We liked the variety of food they provided: sushi, seafood, traditional Chinese dishes, soups, cold dishes, desserts, fruits and much more. We spent our day hiking in Cuyahoga Valley National Park and this place was perfect for us to fill our empty stomach. The food seem fresh, hot and yummy. They used plastic plates, but metal utensils. Things we did not like were 1) the table was oily and sticky; 2) some of the soup bowls were dirty with visible oil marks and/or dirt on them; 3) automatic 15% tips added to our bill for having a family of 5 people. Whelks, salt fish, peel and eat crawfish, tiny whole octopus - and also all the fried standards like French fries or chicken wings, egg rolls and sweet & sour. So based upon the reviews, looks like the food offering is different from lunch and dinner. If you are looking for a lots of seafood, then go during dinner. I gave them two stars for my first visit for the following reasons: - Food Temperature Control - most of the Chinese food on the buffet table were cold or lukewarm. I don't expect the food to be piping hot, but it shouldn't be cold or lukewarm sitting over a food warmer. For example, the chicken and broccoli - the chicken was very tough to eat and it was cold. Same thing for the string beans, it was cold and we were sitting 10 feet away from the buffet table. - Seasoning - It seemed like all their foods had seasoning issues or maybe it's my taste bud... some were bland, others while cooked in sauces had no flavors. - Sushi - your standard sushi roll offerings at your standard buffet. Personally, I would skip the lunch and go for dinner since they have more seafood offering during the dinner time. Service was good. I was going to give them 3 stars, but went with 2 stars because of the cold/lukewarm foods at the buffet table. I probably haven't been here for two years. Glad to say, at least on this weekend occasion, the food was delicious and fresh. There is. lot to love here, especially if you like seafood. In particular, the sushi rolls were very well executed. I liked the deep fried whole shrimp, the deep fried flounder, as well as your more traditional non-seafood asian cuisine. This is one of the best places to go for real authentic Japanese style sushi and hibachi! The prices are unbelievable! $17.99 all you can eat for an adult dinner including unlimited sushi and hard shell crab legs! I have been going there since they opened and the owner is wonderful! Everything is always prepared fresh, not sitting around for hours in a heater, and they are always willing to accommodate for special orders/allergies. They are very good about keeping the restrooms clean as well as the tables on a constant basis. If you see anything that doesn't look clean they immediately take care of any problems. They will give special discounts to returning customers and offer special foods during different holidays of the year!
