Not a great experience. Went to look at a $23k van with a promised 8% interest. Got there, after the run around they tacked on another 6k on the sticker price and ended up with nearly 13% interest. Onto of that the van had issues and the service center refused to fix it or even acknowledge it trying to convince us to wait until the extended warranty to kick in so we'd have to pay to fix what was wrong from the start, to try and avoid the original warranty. I had a failed starter and some electrical issues with my 10 year old Town & Country minivan. I was up in the area visiting from Chicago. Kunes repaired it the first time and the same afternoon the electrical issues came back. At this point I was back down in the Chicago area, admittedly frustrated, and it wasn't safe to drive the van back up to Elkhorn. I have to give them a lot of credit for making it right. They sent a tow truck down to pick up the vehicle, fixed the entire internal electrical system, and delivered the car back down to Chicago at their own expense. Thanks for the excellent service - they made a bad situation into a positive customer experience. Went shopping there to find a used Chrysler minivan so they set us up with the commercial sales manager as he is called. First vehicle he showed us was a two-year-old van with over 50,000 miles in our price point. Unfortunately, the sales manager did not point out the fact that there was severe hell damage to this vehicle, I did notice it right away but test drove it anyways and found a vehicle running rough at idle and needed a couple of the tires that were pretty worn! When I got back to sales manager, I pointed out the flaws and he said that the tires were within specs? 75% worn is in specs for Kunis on a $30,000 plus vehicle? I pointed out the hail damage and of course his default responses is: we have it priced accordingly! For some reason, I feel that these sales people think that you can take a vehicle to the dent doctor and get all these Hail dents taken out for a couple hundred bucks, and if that was the case, why didn't they do that so they could add more money to the price of the car so I'll tell you why! It usually cost a lot of money to get hail damage repaired! Fortunately, we found a van that didn't have as many options, but had lower mileage the same year that was in much better shape. Why he didn't show us that car in the first place and avoid the headache? I feel that he was just trying to get rid of that car and felt it was an easy sale! That's my opinion!!! Oh by the way, I have bought several new vehicles from Kunes for myself. Yeah they always try to sell you the overpriced gap insurance of what you can get through your own personal car insurance company for just a couple dollars a month. They always try to sell extended warranty on a new car? I feel if you get three years and 36,000 miles to worry about that and don't really need their overpriced extended warranty unless you're going to keep the car longer. And then they sell the Xylon coating or whatever it is that they put on the paint and it's just another overpriced add-on to make more money for the dealership. I would never say avoid this dealership, as most dealerships are run the same way, and are not really concerned about you buying a dependable used car. They are only concerned about the company making profits and the salesman getting his cut. They claim they run them through their service Department before putting them on the lot for sale and then I would ask this question. Why didn't he disclose the hail damage upfront on the first vehicle I looked at? Unfortunately, being young and never had any experience with a dealership before agreed to a 72 month loan at 29.24% on a $21000 car. If you're buying a car but they don't have what you want on the lot- they'll get it for you. Do you want to know more about the car you're interested in- they're group of experts will answer any questions you have. Do you have a "noise" in your car or something about it "feels funny"- they'll diagnose you like a doctor helping your child. Their group of receptionists are second to none and will help you by going above and beyond to let you know what needs to happen so you can be on the road again. *I know there are a lot of less than glowing reviews for this place but remember that no one's happy to pay hundreds of dollars unexpectedly. It hurts your wallet and your soul when you're told the clicking noise you hoped was no big deal is going to cost you a paycheck. Please remember cars are expensive! It sucks but being angry at a mechanic or receptionist for the ridicules price of something is like getting mad at your doctor for being told you have cancer. He didn't give it to you- he just told you what it was going to take to fix it. And if my car had cancer, I'd want these guys to over see it. If you need someone to take care of you car or truck, come to these guys. They have the ability to get you anything you need and they back up their work to a T. I decided to cancel the extended warranty within 30 days. What I experienced was that he finance mgr lied, stalled and refused to take calls, return calls or emails. When escalated to the Dealership General Mgr, he refused to take calls, returns calls or emails as well. eventually the extended warranties were canceled only after I engaged the warranty company directly and they experienced the same unscrupulous actions but were finally successful in refunding my warranty purchase only after involving Kunes Headquaters. it took 4 months to get a refund... My brake Rotors only lasted 2 years & 30,000 miles. I have a manual transmission & don't use my brakes that much! They blamed the new chemicals used on roads. Cost $1200 to repair and 2 years ago was only $800. They charged $16.95 PER LUGNUT when they rotated my tires! They are the only ones to ever touch those parts. So, any damage was Kunes Fault! Our family bought one car from them and we've looked at buying two others. We won't deal them them in the future. They push their lifetime warranty, but when my son, who bought a car from them tried to get details from them regarding how often he should bring the car in for service to make sure he doesn't violate their warranty they wouldn't give him an answer. It took several phone calls and visits to their dealership to get an answer, and he was told he needed to bring the car in every 5000 miles. The manufacturer's requirement was 7500 miles. When he asked why they required that the car be serviced more often than what the manufacturer stated they wouldn't give him an answer. This means spending more time and money than necessary maintaining the car or if someone follows the manufacturer's maintenance schedule they have an excuse not to honor the warranty. The sales person my son bought the car from was completely unprofessional, swearing by using the F word more times than my son could count. I was interested in a car that they were scheduled to have in about a week. When I told them to let me know when it came in they pushed for me to put a refundable deposit on the car. Their pitch to me was it would then be mine if I wanted it and if I didn't they'd refund the deposit. I fortunately used my credit card for the deposit because when I called a couple of days later to let them know I was purchasing a different car from another dealer they told me I needed to leave a message for a sales manager who wasn't in that day. After a week of leaving messages for him as he was never available and wouldn't return my calls I called my credit card company to dispute the transaction and had my deposit returned that way. I gave them one more try recently, just to have them "forget" to include a manufacturer's rebate when writing up a sales order. When I pointed out that other dealers were advertising the rebate they suddenly remembered it and included it in the sales order. I left without buying the car. In reading other Yelp reviews on this location and other Kunes locations as well as the F rating some of their locations have from the BBB, it's clear our experiences are not uncommon. We're a family that takes our Christian faith seriously, and the fact that they play Christian music in their dealership and promote their faith while deceiving customers is offensive. Either their leadership has no control over their employees or they are aware of their business practices and use God's name to make customers comfortable, making it easier to take advantage of them. Never having met their owner I can't tell you which scenario is taking place, only that I won't buy a car from them and they need to stop holding themselves out as a Christian business, because they're not. read more

Went in today to see if I had won anything from the flyer Kunes Dodge had just mailed me. Met a smooth talking salesman who asked if I was interested in buying a car. I told him I was only looking to see if there was anything I could afford. He went over all my info including income, social security number, bank account, work history, etc. I was asked how much I could afford a month in car payments. I told him no more than $50.00 a month as I was on a fixed income from social security and nothing else. He finally comes back after a while and has me step outside next to where my car was parked. I am told to step in and we'll go for a short ride. I notice the sticker on the window says $19,000 and it is a 2018 Kia. We ride around a while, I see the mileage is 79,000 miles, he also let's me drive it and we return to the showroom. He again asks how much I could pay for that car and I told him $50.00 a month. Before I left there after 3 1/2 hours I mentioned that a dozen times! Then after waiting around for a while again, I was told he checked with his boss and they could work out a deal for me to buy this car. Next enters the money manager to talk to me. Asks how much a month I could pay. I answer $50.00 a month. He asks a lot more questions then says he will go call some banks about financing and be right back. He comes back after a while and says "Congratulations, you've just purchased a car". Then he sits down and says for the next 5 months payments are $250.00 a month and Kunes will pay $200.00 each month and I will pay $50.00 each month. THEN, he says "Call me in 5 months after the first of the year and we'll refinance your payments. That implied to me that I would still only pay $50.00 a month for the 72 month finance terms. After the salesman switched license plates and helped me remove all of my large collection of items from my trunk, back and front seats to the Kia, he said it was time to go and sign the final papers. As we were doing this, I was told the payments would be $280.00 a month for 6 YEARS!!! I asked for the money manager to be called and he came back. Both of these two salesmen kept trying to assure me that my credit score would improve in five months after the next year began and would help refinance the payments much lower. After much reluctance to answer, I asked them to give me a "ball park figure" on an approximate amount the payments could be. The answer was "around $230.00 a month". After taking in this ridiculous situation that I was put in, I told the money manager to forget this deal, give my $200.00 deposit back and transfer all my things back to my car. I reminded him that I kept stating the most I could pay was $50.00 a month. I was extremely upset how this "Bait and Switch" trick was attempted. To add more fuel to the fire, the money manager then said there was another car I could look at and could I pay $100.00 a month. I repeated that I was furious with the "Con" that was just attempted and wanted to get away as fast as possible. He finally canceled my deposit, changed my plates back, and helped me reload my things into my car. Suffice to say, when something seems too good to be true, it usually is! My husband and I went to the Kunes to do a lease buy out on a Jeep Renagade at first we were going to do a loan. The salesman took our information then he went to the finance person never asking if we planned on putting any money down or not. Let me say that we didn't speak to financial person until we had been there an hour and half. He then finally comes out of his office to get my information cause I'll need to be on the loan. I tell him at that time I have money to put down that should make a difference. He then is like well maybe mind you the lease from Chrysler Capital is in just my husband's name alone. We ask how much longer this will take he says maybe an hour or longer. Remember we have already been there an hour and half. At this point we tell him we'll just write check for the car in full. We asked what the total will be. He's got that information in his office I start waking with him, he spins around you can come in there with me. He comes out with a number on his business card, he says just bring in a check for this amount and we can get the car purchased out right. This number he gives me looks really high. I ask what is the buy out number from Chrysler he tells me and it's $4000.00 higher then the Chrysler number now I know there is other fees but $4000.00. I then asked if I can just take care of this thru Chrysler he tells me no I have to come back there! So I call Chrysler and speak with them. They tell me the buy out, they tell me that no I can go directly thru them all I have to is send them the check, they will send me the title to then go to the DMV take care of tax title and transfer. So I get ahold of the DMV get the fee totals from them. I was on the phone total for less then 20 minutes. The difference between what Kunes said I needed a check for and Chrysler with taxes and fees is $2656.01 in my favor. That is a lot of money. I'm so disappointed, annoyed and just angry I will never shop with them again! I have bought 3 Jeeps with them in the last four years. How much money have I given them that I didn't need to. Husband and I got a letter from Kunes in Elkhorn from Eric the General Manager telling us that HE could 1. Lower or keep our monthly payment the same AND lower our current interest rate ..... 2. Give us as much as HE possibly could for our Grand Cherokee 3. Defer car payment for 3 months 4. Deliver our new vehicle to us for no additional cost Stop by before the close of business on Saturday 9/26/2020. There was a PS that said to bring this letter and receive a $25 Gift Certificate for the service dept. We were there on 9/24/2020. Didn't deliver on any of it. Kunes does not honor sale price advertised on Internet. Car #1 was advertised on internet for $8k plus discount. Didn't like vehicle. Car #2 at their other dealership same only different color. Salesmen wasn't going to give $8k plus discount. Number of excuses - but finally got the discount. Finance was done on Thursday & car was being brought in from Woodstock. Deal would be finished on Friday. - NOPE - neither one happened. Ryan (Finance Guy) said he had a glitch in getting finance done - what??? You had only 4 places to look into .... We had to call a dozen times Friday & Saturday to finally get a call back. Ryan had the numbers and would email info to me. Figures were not the same as we were quoted on Thursday... some $4k higher. Went over the numbers on Monday and were told a handful of excuses of why we did not get the full discount. Salesmen left the showroom never to return. Eric (General Mgr) left without talking to us. Ryan (Finance person) refused to honor Internet price. When we got home I checked the Internet again and ... what to my surprise .... I found they had changed the discount figure on this vehicle from $9,000+ discount to $4,000+ ..... if we were wrong, why did they change the discount figure on this vehicle? Bottom line - stay away from Kunes ....If you go there, check your paperwork...They are very deceitful in advertised price & what they put down on paper .... who knows what other deceptive practices they have. read more

Maybe they can't "hold" a truck, but a reasonable assumption is that they could between their family of dealerships. Asked about two other trucks and no response back. They lost a customer and a sale and from what I heard it sounds like the trucks are "selling so quickly" they don't need to do much. The Kunes group also lost a customer. read more

Worst experience ever. Put a deposit on a vehicle and arranged for pick up date. Even offered to double down on deposit. I also had financing in place. Buyer's order sent to my bank. All in place and agreed to on. I then get a call form them saying that they sold my reserved car, but that they would allocate the next one inbound to me. The catch?
