I own a local business, and started bringing our whole fleet of vehicles here for regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades. One of our vehicles ending up blowing the engine with just over 70,000 miles, and Ford covered most of the cost as there was a known defect with these engines. We were still forced to pay about $2,000 out of pocket for a replacement engine. I disagree with having to pay any amount for a known defect, but we needed the vehicle so we paid the $2,000 portion of the new engine. 1,000 miles later, the brand new engine failed, again. I had to tow it from southern Illinois back to Elkhorn Ford. After a few days I stopped in to check on it and Joe in service told me when they replaced the engine, they put old parts on the NEW engine, and those old parts, caused the BRAND NEW ENGINE to fail. Joe stated I now needed to pay almost $10,000 for a brand new engine. I was shocked... I asked to speak to Scott, the owner but he was on vacation. I left and said I would talk to Scott when he returns. When Scott returned, he said the same thing, that I am on the hook for the full repair. He also said that Joe claimed I was yelling, swearing and making a huge scene in the service department which is a complete lie. I was frustrated, but I never once raised my voice or said anything. This vehicle sat in their yard while they claimed to work with Ford, and the owner son in law, instead of contacting ME, sent a Facebook message to an employee of mine, saying "Remove your car before snow flies or we will tow it out of here" We had another vehicle in for an oil change prior to this and when we went to pick it up from their parking lot, every light on the dash came on saying check engine, check ABS, check battery etc etc. They brought it back inside to look at it. They said it needed a new ABS module for about $1,000. I disputed that and a month later they said "Oh never mind, we fix it, we found a loose wire we must have bumped, its fine now" Steer clear of this dealership, they have a high turn over in their shop and do not stand behind their work. I try our best to support every small local business in the area, and I've waited almost year before I spoke hoping Scott, John and the rest of their employees would do the right thing, but they choose not to. read more

Joe, Ira and Steve all went out of their way to make my experience positive when my 2020 Ford Escape started having a few issues. Do not buy a used car from Elkhorn Motors Ford. I purchased a 2015 Explorer with 18k miles in July 5, 2018 from Elkhorn Motors Ford (36 miles from my home). I took this car back to Elkhorn Motors Ford days after purchase because of a loud squeak/rattle from under the dash. I had to take the vehicle into their service center 4 times before they finally figured out what it was and fixed it. July 2018: The drives side window would not go all the way up. I took the vehicle to Elkhorn 3 times trying to get them to fix it, they never did and claimed they looked extensively into the situation and found no problem with the window, even thought it would not close. I had to take the car to a local mechanic who stated the door panel was never removed because all the factory installed insulation was still sealed, if Elkhorn looked into the window they would have had to remove the door panel. This mechanic repaired the track and the window has worked fine cost $120. October 2018: There is a loud bang/pop coming from drivers side front wheel and a boop sound when you accelerate. Took vehicle to Elkhorn 3 times they changed the Axel Thrust washer but that did not fix the problem and the banging and boop sound continues. Elkhorn said that the Front Strut Bearing Plate should be changed but Ford will not cover this repair. October 2018: Vehicle was making a very loud metal rattle under hood, I contacted Elkhorn and was told to go to another dealer, because from the video I sent them they thought the engine was going bad and they would not help me if a had a major engine issue. But after several conversations they scheduled an appointment for December. hey also convinced me to purchase an extended warranty at a cost of $959. Nine days later on my way to work my check charging system light came on because the serpentine belt was shredded. I had to pay $85 for towing and $295 to replace belt and tensioner at local shop. December 2018: Returned to Elkhorn to reevaluate bang/pop sound and inspect clutch, belt and tensioner. Elkhorn felt my AC compressor caused my belt to break, they changed it at a cost of $100 deductible. On this date they also told me a vehicle I purchased 5 months earlier needed new brakes at a cost of $180. December 2018: Contacted Ford to see if there was anything that can be done on their buyback program, they would not help. I also asked the owner of Elkhorn Motors Ford if I could return the vehicle because it was a lemon, he laughed loudly in my face and stated "that was the most ridiculous thing he had ever heard" and would not help me any further. July 2018: Tensioner started making loud metal rattling noise again, replaced by local mechanic. July 2018: Tensioner is making loud metal rattling noise again. Took vehicle to Napleton Ford. Tensioner was replaced and so was belt, cost $40 (after warranty). Found there was a recall on vehicle that Elkhorn never notified me of, as they should. July 2018: Hood is corroding from the inside out. Which is a known issue with Ford by Ford will not cover. I have had nothing but nightmare after nightmare with this 2015 Explorer. There is still a loud bang in the front wheels and a boop sound every time I accelerate from a parked position, the hood is corroding, it shifts gears hard and no one knows how long this fourth tensioner will last. This vehicle has under 30K miles and lives in a garage at home and work. It should not have so many issues and be falling apart. Ford Motor Company will not help me, dealerships just screw you over and I'm stuck with a lemon and cannot afford to trade it in. It is pathetic that Ford would treat a very loyal customer so amazingly poor and not stand by their product. No one should have to go through this after purchasing a vehicle. Since Ford will not stand by their products I will certainly never stand by them with my business again. They have lost a loyal customer! read more

This was the easiest new car purchase ever. John was very helpful and responsive. We were hesitant to make the hour drive but it was well worth it. We were in and out of there in just over an an hour (and John thought that was too long.) He explained the features of our new Mustang and set up our phones, etc. This is totally worth the drive!!
