Best boba in Providence! It has been so difficult to find good drinks and boba in Rhode Island. Coming from CA, I always had so many options when I went to Irvine or Los Angeles. However, Kung Fu does a pretty great job! The boba is great consistency, not too chewy and not too hard. My favorite drink to order is the Mango Green Tea with boba and mango jelly. Parking is easy to find on weekdays but it's usually packed on weekends. Kung Fu is located right next Brown University so there's always a ton of college students walking around. I suggest parking away from Brown and in a neighborhood that's down the street from Kung Fu. read more

The drinks are on the pricier side, but if you are a fan of the tea, this probably won't stop you from buying some! They also sell some fun Japanese snacks like Hi-Chew, Pocky, and Hello Panda. Fair warning, during finals period, you will find longer lines and wait times than usual due to its close proximity to Brown and, more specifically, its main science library. But, with that being said, if you are one of those people who need a break from an entire day of studying, waiting in line for a bit and rewarding yourself with a tea can be a real treat. I've tried many KFTs in many different cities before but this one was overall disappointing. I ordered a hot oolong milk tea with tapioca with 50% sugar and thought my drink was tasteless and not sweet at all. My siblings all ordered 50-70% sugar as well and their drinks were tasteless. We ordered four drinks and got them pretty quickly. There were all pretty good, and lots of well-cooked pearls. The staff were pretty nice but a little confused, and could have been more efficient. This place is awesome! Finally good bubble tea in Rhode Island. Flavors are good and strong. Warning their teas are pretty sweet. I got the taro bubble tea with less sugar and still found it a bit sweeter than I'd like. (Also FYI their bubbles are pre sweetened too). Came here on a recent trip to Providence. Cute place with friendly staff. Inside was also really clean. Drinks were good, but a little too sweet for my taste. Definitely seems to lean more on the sugary powdered drinks than actual tea. Which isn't bad, if that's what you like. The actual boba was good and chewy- which is how it should be lol. It's, you know, a chain bubble tea joint so they're not going to get a rave review from me, but I've always gotten friendly service and they have the option to add Oreo to the drinks so I'll keep coming back. My main complaint is that if you order the coffee stuff iced they dump hot coffee over ice so the drink is still lukewarm and most of the ice melts. WARNING: Waste of money. Don't waste your time or money here! Very disappointed in the quality and flavor of bubble tea offered. I've been an avid bubble tea drinker my entire life and these teas were a horrible representation of bubble tea. I have supported Kung Fu Tea in several locations throughout the country and have not been so disappointed with the quality of tea being sold, and to top it off, customer service. I ordered two large slushes, one taro with bubbles and one passion fruit with aloe Vera jelly. I paid $12-13 for both which was outrages considering that they were flavorless and not worth a single penny. The taro slush had an artificial vanilla flavor which is not the traditional taro taste. And the bubbles inside of it were old and hard, crusty to some degree, as they made it more undesirable to drink. I'm aware that fresh bubbles taste chewy and soft, so those bubbles were old and dry from the day before. Which can result in getting customers sick. As that put into question what sanitary measures they take if they're okay with serving old bubbles. The passion fruit slushy was flavorless. No acidity or sweetness as traditional passion fruit flavor consists of. It was flavorless orange icey water. And I'd say the one star was earned for the aloe Vera jelly tasting like it should. Regarding customer service, the cashier had no idea how customer service works. He took a REALLY long time serving the customers in front of me because he had no idea how to use the register or print them a receipt. His co worker had to step in and help him aka this cashier hasn't been properly trained to service customers. And when I got to order, he left a bad taste in my mouth because he was aggravated from his prior transaction and the attitude was reflected towards me. When the receipt printed he stared at me like "ok you're done. Bye" and I kindly asked for my receipt, and he rudely snatched it from the register and gave it to me. I honestly just wanted my teas, and to enjoy them. If I had known, this terrible customer service and horrible quality of tea was offered at this location, I wouldn't have wasted my time. On a positive note, I do give credit to the young lady there last night, as she knew how to treat customers when I was given my teas, and even offered me a bag. But the two gentlemen there were far from being gentlemen as they took out their frustrations of whatever they justified in their heads on customers whom simply were supporting the brand and their livelihood. Re-training your employees or getting new ones would be a suggestion, as customer service is not a job built for everyone, and as a person that has worked these positions in my past, you have to be cordial to everyone regardless of the situation or their demeanor. And their bad attitude reflected on their teas because they tasted just as bad as the employees attitudes felt in the store. read more

Like many, I was excited to finally have an authentic boba shop in providence - one with real tea and not the over-sugared slush that's otherwise pervasive in town. I've never had KFT before this place opened, and it looked promising upon first glance. I've had several of their more basic offerings - various kinds of milk tea with boba, or just the tea. The flavor of the drinks is sad and pale compared to what good boba should taste like (rich and aromatic). KFT is just milky and you can kind of taste the tea. They have lactaid-based milk tea! I'm not lactose intolerant, but there version of milk tea with the lactaid is so enjoyable. Tons of options and seasonal changes to the menu. I come to Kung Fu Tea at least once a week! They have the best boba by far on (or slightly off) Thayer and have a great atmosphere in which I can do work/ grab tea with friends. I will say that their boba varies day to day in chewiness. I often like chewier boba, so this usually doesn't bother me, but some people have said this is a turn off. There have been a few times wherein I've had one or two bubbles that are ROCK hard and I'm not sure why this is. However, the overall quality is great and almost worth the price. I'm really glad we have a decent boba place near campus. However, without competition I wonder if KFT feels all that motivated to keep up their game. They make their matcha milk with hot water, and you miss out on the richness of the flavor. Every now and then the boba/bubbles are too hard or too mushy, and it's a disappointment. They give you more ice than tea sometimes. However, the tea quality and taste has been fairly consistent and you can tell it's not a powder tea that some places will try to sell you.
