Food is reasonably priced, but mediocre. Facilities are aged, but thats not a big deal to me as I'm there for the food. Very few tables because you are supposed to reserve. Otherwise it's takeout. We went on Sunday at opening time, party of 6, first ones at the door for our reserved table. Lovely older woman handling the whole dining room. Another table came at the same time, there were probably 8 people incl kids. And another 2 gentlemen came in. It took over an hour before she took our orders. It took at least 30 min for our food to trickle out of the kitchen. It took another 30 minutes after we ate to get our bills paid. We were running out of things to talk about it took so long! The food wasn't great, there's hardly a vegetable in anything! we all ordered fried rice but it looked nothing like fried rice on our combo plates, not a single veggie or shred of egg in it. Those that had plain rice said it was better. We asked for chili crisp, she gave us a container of chili oil and a container with crushed red pepper, yet they had jars of chili crisp for sale. Chicken egg rolls did not look like the traditional eggrolls and had a funny taste Chicken lo mein had like five pieces of chicken in it and was very bland tasting. Read some good and bad reviews so I decided to give it a try.. I was starving and haven't had good Chinese food since last June when we went to China. This place appears to be one of them mom and pop shop that's been here for a while.. Friendly lady and first customer for the day it seems. I didn't know what to order but the lady recommended Kung pao chicken if I have never been here. So i got the lunch special. Can't go wrong with Kung pao and at least I know if that dish is yummy rest would follow. So I get my lunch specially which came with scoop of rice (choice of white or fried). Portion looked on the small side but oh well. Take my first bite and I am greeted with this strong sour taste. I'm thinking to myself, man it's been a while since I had Kung pao dish, I don't ever remember being this sour. Couple more bite and yup, it was like eating a sweet and sour chicken without the sweet. Had some chillies but dish had no heat what so ever. I was so disappointed how bad it tasted. Of course since I was hungry I ate the dish. I noticed more people came to eat after I got my food and it appears lot of return customers, which is nice. But this place was definitely not for me.. Let's see. You are a place that pushes heavy on take out. Somebody, I am going human and not AI, put it together. Then, and this is just me tossing this toward the moon, stuck it in plastic, reviewed it, and let it go. Witjin the dumplings is shredded carrots bits snd I found a sad pea looking at me. I felt for it. The other dish was Chiclen Chow Noodles. This is where we both felt a fork, maybe two, and a knive would benefit. I say two because we got two fortune cookies. Now the dish. I could hsve sworn that in th3 first few bites it tasted as though shrimp was in there. When I tried other items in it, including the spouse, we both concurred the taste disappeared. I love this place so much. I take my friends and family here all the time! The food is home cooked noodles made with so much love. You can taste the authentic ingredients, it's not fast food quality it's genuinely delicious and high quality. My favorite thing is seeing people's reactions to biting into the tender beef because it's so good!!! Order the sampler appetizer as it comes with wontons, egg rolls, crab Rangoons and more. The environment is lovely, there is Chinese red lanterns everywhere. Plants and cute art all over the walls. The owner always places 1950's love music. So romantic for dates as me and my partner go often! The owner is incredibly and sweet. She memorizes peoples orders, how they have been. I moved to Arizona about 6 months ago and just moved over to Tempe maybe about a month ago and had just discovered this gem about a week ago. I love spicy food and they definitely delivered on that. The owner asked me 1-10 how spicy I said 10 make me regret it and they definitely delivered on that LOL. I haven't been able to find a restaurant since I moved here that has given me that sensation; I love spicy food. Very hospitable and very welcoming. The atmosphere was nice as well. Little Szechuan is one of those spots that has been a staple in the ASU-Tempe area for decades. Their food was consistently good and they gave you plenty--even at lunch. However, this is no longer the case. The food lacks flavor an complexity that it used to have. Little Szechuan wasn't basic Chinese fusion dining, it tasted and felt authentic. There was nothing authentic or flavorful about my chicken with broccoli. It was super dry, greasy, and lacked so much flavor. I echo a lot of the other reviews about it not being the same. I am giving it 2 stars for the good customer service, but I won't be back. read more

Not a hint of egg or vegetable in it at all, let alone discernible seasoning. The crab puffs were literally the worst I've ever had--utterly devoid of seasoning and tasted like fake or incredibly cheap cream cheese. This little place has been around forever. I finally decided to check it out and ordered in last night for pick up due to social distancing. The food was overall okay. I personally felt the beef was overly salty and it was much more breading than meat. It's really difficult to find quality Asian food but this place was better than a few others I have tried recently. I would return but I would probably try a chicken vegetable meat that isn't breaded next time to see if it's less salty. The egg drop soup had a lot of pepper in it which wasn't my personal preference either. The lo mein noodles were so yummy and tender! The chicken fried rice was as expected. My Asian family and I saw the positive reviews for Little Szechuan Restaurant and tried it for take out dinner. We ordered wor wonton soup, chicken broccoli dinner plate with fried rice, egg rolls, Dan Dan Noodles, Tofu Eggplant. About $50 worth of food. Wait time was long, however, nice woman said because food is made fresh. Ok. Large Wonton soup was bland and flavorless, small size, NOT quart size as ordered but pint size. Chicken Broccoli plate was was so bland and weird. Chicken broccoli was cubed with congealed sauce, a scoop of it in a corner. Fried rice was just plain rice, dyed brown with soy sauce, no egg or vegetables mixed in, just plain rice bland. Plain Lo mein noodles were on the plate too, not sure why, but bland fat udon noodles. Weird. Dan Dan noodles were spicy, but again with the cubed chicken and frozen peas and carrots mixed in. Definitely not authentic. Large Tofu eggplant was only a PINT size bland, swimming in a congealed sauce with more frozen peas and carrots. Everyone was just perplexed, confused, disappointed and frustrated by the positive comments and reviews. We just wanted some good simple Chinese food after a long drive to our hotel. I read from one reviewer this was the worst Chinese food she has ever had. I thought she had to be exaggerating! I decided to see for myself since this location is very convenient. Unfortunately, she was absolutely right. My husband ordered spring rolls and a noodle dish. He took one bite of each and could not eat at more. Then I tried a spring roll and was shocked it was mushy inside. Like there were so few vegetables or anything it was basically empty so it disintegrated to mush in the frying process. Then I opened up my DanDan noodles and found something that didn't even remotely resemble Dan Dan noodles. It was udon noodles that had a splatter of some kind of tomato based sauce with diced pees and carrots, and diced chicken? It is supposed to be ground pork. And no spicy flavor. It was like prison food. If you are not picky about Chinese you may like this spot. But if you enjoy traditional Chinese you are best to avoid. read more

She was very personable and genuinely wanted me to enjoy my visit. Sadly, the food was a huge disappointment. It seemed as though every dish was a shadow of what it was supposed to be.
