I booked a couple's massage for my boyfriend and I for his birthday and one of the massage therapists just didn't show up. No one called to tell me of the change and the company didn't really do anything proactive to help with the situation. We didn't find out until the other therapist showed up. The massage therapist that did show up was very friendly and offered to massage both of us, one right after the other, but we unfortunately didn't have time to do that, and that kind of defeated the whole purpose of the couple's massage. The company did refund me for one of the massages once I asked for it. Overall the booking experience was very easy, and my boyfriend did enjoy the massage he got. After all the quarantining we've endured for a year, I scheduled 3 massage therapists for 5 of my friends and myself. The much-needed massages kicked off a birthday weekend for a friend who was celebrating half a century of the good life! All the girls enjoyed 1.5 hours to 2 hours of private bliss and we aimed for a DIY spa experience by supplying our own champagne, tea sandwiches, pastries, pigs in a blanket and other light bites. I have been trying for the past three months to book an appointment with KUR. They have been incredibly difficult to work with. Here are some of the problems that have prevented me from getting a massage from them. 1. Multiple attempts to make appointments. Although it is understandable a busy business may not be able to book appointments easily, they had promised to return calls to help us book time for following weeks but did not. This was extremely frustrating. 2. Cancellation 5 mins before scheduled appointment. As I was walking to KUR's new location, my boyfriend and I received a call from them saying that they wouldn't be able to take us. One of their therapists couldn't come in that day. [preface]: I will convince you this is the massage spa for you. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place. This is going to be a very lengthy and in depth review of Kur Mobile Spa. As you can probably tell from my heading, *Spoiler Alert* I LOVE THIS PLACE! My Background: I have a number of sports and car accident related injuries(neck, shoulder, lower back, leg, ankle). I had recently had back surgeries (over the course of one year) and a knee surgery (5 months ago). Over the past 2 years I've gone to countless massage parlors and spas in an attempt to reduce the pain and find some peace! One outcome of having so many massages is that I can tell exactly when someone is doing something wrong or right with my body. I will immediately walk away from a massage if I notice someone is physically hurting me making me feel uncomfortable (i know you know *exactly* what I mean). I suffer from chronic lower back pain as well as extreme sciatica pain running down both legs. However, I tend to lead a pretty active lifestyle in which I go hiking, workout, and travel whenever I get the chance. Meeting Kur Spa and Ada: On the morning of the day I had planned out a hike with my friends(2 am), I started feeling EXTREME amounts of pain running through both my legs and weighing down on my lower back. I got on my inversion table and hoped I could stretch enough to make the pain go away. I got desperate and started looking on yelp for places open on a SUNDAY at 3 am. This is when I read testimonials from clients at Kur Spa. I got on the phone at 3:30 am and left Ada a desperate voicemail explaining my situation. I couldn't sleep through the night due to the pain, and got a text from Ada at 8 am sharp on a SUNDAY telling me she'll work around her schedule and make space for me. She was an angel sent from the back pain gods to me already! At 11 am she greeted me at the door of guarded building in front of Pershing Square and listened to all my problems. I promise you this godsend has HEALING POWERS. I walked out of the massage so soothed by her massage and her wisdom. She uses a blend of massages (hot stone, shiatsu, deep tissue, Thai) to make sure your pain is gone! And went home and slept like a baby after so many hours. I got a discount for checking in on yelp and she also agreed to apply the discount again if I came by again. I made yet another appointment to see her the next Sunday. After my third appointment she told me about the memberships she has for continuing clients. Membership: Silver: A great deal if you want a discount but don't see yourself coming routinely. Gold: Great discount than silver! Diamond: Most amount of discount!! You visit the spa 4 times a month (i go every Sunday, PLEASE don't steal my 11 am appointments with Ada, deal? :D ). If you are busy your credit is transferred to the next month OR you can send a friend or family member in place for you. Recently I missed a weekend appointment because I've been so busy with school. The next weekend I was able to not only get my massage but also take my sister in for a massage as a treat :) She simply fell in love with her massage therapist, Amalia. On the entire drive back home she raved about how great of a therapist Amalia is. So the next week I took my mom in for a massage as well! And she too left the spa raving about Amalia's magical touch! I recommend you try Amalia or Ada for your first time. ADA: I've gotten to know Ada very well over the past few months because of our weekly massages. She's so attentive and has such a kind heart. As I mentioned earlier, I have very very bad sciatica pain...she GIFTED me a pressure point belt that I can wrap around my back or legs or neck. It helps so much with relieving my pain and loosening my very very tight muscles. Look, she didn't have to go out of her way to give me the belt. YET, she did. Ada truly cares! She sends me and my family home with amazing samples of essential oils that TRULY work-- Yes, I was skeptical at first...but now I'm sold on essential oils! The View: OH MY GOD, the view from the balcony and window is one of a kind! People are literally one building over paying tons of money to sit in swanky overpriced restaurants *trying* to get the view Ada has on he 11th floor. I've taken such awesome Instagram and Facebook pictures from her balcony. Make sure you see it! All in all, if this won't convince you that Kur Spa is the place for you then I don't know what can! I came here because my sister bought two groupings for a massage. The reason why I gave 4 stars is because it took me about 9 times going around and around to find parking, and it cost about 7 dollars and it was far. We got there an hour early but ended up late because it was so hard to find parking. Suggestion is to bring cash and park in a lot. I didn't have cash so I had to find a meter. I was pretty pissed and annoyed when we finally got to the place. The building is kinda of really sketchy, but don't worry!! The spa is really nice and the view is AMAZING! The staff had to cut out massage short since we were late, but they were so so sweet!!!! My massage was great and my sister said hers was amazing and she wants to go back. Not only did she help me start feeling like myself again in as little as 2 weeks, she gave me recommendations for speeding up my recovery process at home. With only a handful of reviews and all of them being five stars for this place, I was slightly wary. However, after having my first massage with Ada yesterday, I can say this place is legit! She did a fantastic combo of a deep tissue and hot stone massage and it was divine. She focused on the areas that I requested and really worked on all of my many knots. She worked those hot stones like magic and used some great techniques I've never seen before. Her prices are VERY reasonable as well. There is currently a groupon for KUR (3 one hour massages for $79) but you can see if she will just honor the price without it. I usually love to share about all great places but I almost didn't want to write a review for KUR so I could keep this hidden gem just for myself! Awesome massage, awesome price! If they're still offering the Groupon, I definitely recommend it - $29 for a 60-minute massage. You're not going to find a better deal than that. They were also able to schedule me within the week. It can be a little difficult to find if you're not familiar with the area - the awning faces the Pershing Square parking lot and then you need to take the elevator inside up to the 11th floor. When I arrived Ada (I believe the owner?) greeted me with a smile and water and immediately made me feel comfortable. Guadalupe was my massage therapist and even though she's a very petite woman, she did a great job and used intense pressure - I was amazed at how strong she is! The full body massage was really incredible. She used a combination of different massage techniques and body oils - the lavender smelled so good! Her voice was very calming and she had me do some deep breathing to enhance the massage - a true professional. I also want to give a special shoutout to Ada and Guadalupe for being so honest and kind with me. Unfortunately I had to admit to them that I got pretty sunburnt the day before my massage (my fault!) so they worked with me to ensure that my massage wouldn't irritate my skin (no hot stones) and that I wasn't in any pain - I really appreciated that they told me I might need to reschedule - that shows real concern for the customer. Small private office, which a great view of Pershing Square. Which worked for me, because I was in need of a good massage. I told her what my problem areas were and she worked those areas very well. She did a combination of Swedish and Hot Stone, and she ended by adding some aromatherapy oil on my neck, all which were great! She made sure I was very comfortable both before and after my massage.
